Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OwlinaTree · 17/02/2014 22:17

Well I've started the hospital bag, complete with horrendous massive Granny knickers I've been told I need cos of section.

Also washed some baby clothes. It's all getting a bit real now!

dizhin79 · 18/02/2014 00:07

lol ICE I have even put them in the home birth box they dropped off, definitely no going in the cupboard! The mw told me today that she'd been on a home birth after having whirled a shift, the oh only thought to offer them a drink after the birth, several hours after getting there to help the lady Shock how rude!

I said don't worry I'll tell oh 1st job fetch the entonox out of their car 2nd job make a pot of tea or coffee 3Rd job crack open the biscuits 4th job catch the baby, jobs a good'un!Grin

commsgirl · 18/02/2014 11:45

Just got back from the midwife. She's booked us in for a presentation scan on Friday as she's not sure which way round baby is. Not too worried as she said she just wants to be cautious, especially since I'm planning on going to the MLU. Fingers crossed!

Only six days left at work!

mrsmugoo · 18/02/2014 12:21

same here Owlina - got a load of baby whites on now and little piles of clothes for me and LO laid out on bed with post-its on for DH to pack in the bag later.

It's all quite exciting - even ordered a brand new outfit to wear home - granted it's leggings and a baggy sheer shirt with feeding top underneath but it's still a new outfit nonetheless :)

Just for shits and giggles I tried on an old bikini top because I did for a fleeting second consider I might want to wear one for the birthing pool - WELL REALLY, my pregnancy boobs are a sight for sore eyes in my pre-preg bikini top I have to say! If I do have a modicum of modesty left that I want protected it'll have to be a very unattractive preggy bra in the pool.

mrsmugoo · 18/02/2014 12:23

commsgirl I have MW on Friday and I suspect it'll be presentation scan for me too - they haven't been able to tell baby's position since 25 weeks and she said she'd send me up same day for a scan if she couldn't tell definitively on Fri. Good luck for heads down!

commsgirl · 18/02/2014 13:22

You too! My midwife has been confident baby's been head down since 32 weeks so not sure why she's having a wobble now but I'd definitely rather be sure. Wish we didn't have to wait until Friday though!

Beccadugs · 18/02/2014 13:39

Haven't been on here for ages!

Now I'm on maternity leave though, I'm suddenly much more relaxed!

Mrsmugoo I had the same problems with what to wear in the pool! Wilkos and Robert dyas do really cheap stretchy crop top bras that don't go see through so I'll be wearing on of those!

DitaVonCreamTeas · 18/02/2014 20:00

How's everyone feeling?

I'm 37 weeks now and feel huge and really uncomfortable (short woman, big bump), I also feel like DC could arrive at any time - although that might be wishful thinking. I keep getting Braxton Hicks and all sorts of dull aches and pains. I really hope DC doesn't hang on for another 3 weeks. Confused

PainAuxRaisins · 18/02/2014 20:52

Feeling pelvically challenged (35 weeks tomorrow) but discussed exit strategy with consultant yesterday at our slightly late 34wk check. Will be having an induction on March 26th unless I go into spontaneous labour sooner. Nice to have an end date in sight (now just need to think of a bloody name). Maternity leave starts next week unless pelvis makes me finish before then. Bring it on!

OwlinaTree · 18/02/2014 22:05

Well definately getting into maternity leave mode. Had an afternoon nap on the sofa then woke up and ate a piece of cake.

Could get used to this.

dizhin79 · 18/02/2014 22:17

Dita I feel your pain, though i'm a tall girl and feeling huge and rib stretched! Also getting the occasional dull aches and pains, particularly after walking the dog. I'm hoping that's a good thing as the mw said best thing to do is keep walking :)

I'm currently wishing for the 28th feb, when i can close my works laptop for the last time for a wee while!

Owlina that sounds like a fab way to spend an afternoon Smile

puggywug81 · 19/02/2014 07:20

Know how you feel Diz 28th is my last day too! I'm hoping my nesting instincts kick in once mat leave starts!

painaux I'm due on the 26th too!

Hope everyone is well x

liberuna · 19/02/2014 08:07

Yeah bring on mat leave. I've got 3 days to go. I think my body knows, I had so much energy last week and now im falling asleep at my desk. Ive got a list of things to do once I'm off but owl you seem to have a much more attractive alternative. :)

dita I sympathise ,also at 37 weeks. I love the term "pelvically challenged" pain baby was bouncing all day yesterday. So my internal bits are in agony. I guess if she's this active no way she's coming early.

comms only a few days to go before your next appointment.

IceNoSlice · 19/02/2014 09:43

PainAux "pelvicly challenged" Grin

What a beautiful day today! Sunny, spring-like, daffs, crocuses and snowdrops everywhere. I've got a wee bit of cooking to do before my parents descend on me this afternoon, but might then wander out for a walk. Seems a shame to waste today on the sofa. What is everyone up to?

OwlinaTree · 19/02/2014 13:14

Tidied up my dressing table.

Sitting on sofa!

orangestripe · 19/02/2014 15:57

I was on here ages ago but have name changed since then I think. Have just come back on to say I'm due 8th March but they're not happy with baby's growth (hasn't grown in 3 weeks and am now just under the 10th centime). So they want to do a stretch and sweep on Monday and then induce me later in the week (I think) if that doesn't work - which is unlikely to work since it'll be too soon.

Ugh. So, this won't be the lovely natural birth I was hoping for (it's DC3 and all went smoothly for the other two).

orangestripe · 19/02/2014 15:58

Sodding auto correct - *centile.

OwlinaTree · 19/02/2014 17:08

Oh orange, hope you are OK, better to get baby out I suppose if they are worried. Hope the sweep works and gets things going naturally.

My lovely mum has just been round and cleaned all my windows, can't have a baby come home to dirty windows!

mrsmugoo · 19/02/2014 18:08

Had a nice day today - LOVING being off work (well WFH), got on top of laundry, finished the hospital bag, ate a whole packet of jaffa cakes, listed some stuff on ebay, had a snooze.

Having dreadful sleep at night so incredibly happy not to have to drag myself to the office day in day out anymore.

Very wriggly baby - I thought they were supposed to quieten down at this stage?

dizhin79 · 19/02/2014 20:40

sounds like this nice weather has energised a lot of us Grin ahem, those without spd obvs!!
I had a half day, so visited a friend with her 2 kiddies, did 2loads of washing, cleaned my windows (must have been a day for it lol) took dog for a nice long walk.

Oh and have been having period type pains since last night so I'm hoping this is my uterus getting itself prepared. headbutting cervix going on too!

dizhin79 · 19/02/2014 20:42

orange hope it works out for you, I'm sure they'll be keeping an extra eye on you now. May not be the natural birth you were aiming for but let's hope it's a safe and healthy one xx

orangestripe · 20/02/2014 09:10

Thanks for the kind words. Will keep you posted.

Lottie345 · 20/02/2014 09:10

Good luck orange and the ladies having presentation scans. I know what you mean about elbows bring feet or head being bums. I was worried a few weeks ago and did a lot of ball bouncing and a few downward dogs. Not sure if baby turned or was always head down but we're now 4/5 engaged so all on track. Had risk assessment for MLU and we seem fine.

I'm 37+4 today and in first week if maternity leave. There seems so much to do! I too have piles of 'sorted' stuff/pieces if paper/DH crap around the house... And then no where to put them.

Our plastering is finally done - thank god! Now waiting for it dry and to clear away all the dust so we can paint. But why do colour charts NEVER look the same as on the wall? I have spent the GDP of Luxembourg on paint samples.

Someone was asking about second hand breast pumps. I bought one on eBay but the instructions said never to share... And then found a blog where someone had taken apart the motor of their old one and found old milk in it. So I'm going to list it and re-sell and not take the risk because flushing through won't kill off nasties - real long shot but I'd never forgive myself if it was contaminated with a nasty virus like HIV. that was a medela swing. But if you buy something with a closed system you'll be ok.

Name wise we're all over the place. Thought we'd nailed our blue name but it seems to be going through a real resurgence - won't say what it is as someone has mentioned the name already on here - but on the name thread/and also in the jan thread there were a lot if them! Shouldn't make a difference but it's put me off. We had a short list but it's growing again with my indecision!

Lottie345 · 20/02/2014 09:13

to anyone who has bought a secondhand pump - sorry to scaremonger. I just thought I should pass on what I found out. I feel like I'm being paranoid when I've got a bargain but both my DH and mum said not to take the risk if I wasn't 100% happy...

Rockchick1984 · 20/02/2014 10:54

MrsMugoo re the new outfit, you know you will still be roughly the same size leaving hospital with baby in your arms as you are when you go in with baby in tummy don't you? I'm sure you're fully aware of that, but just thought I'd warn you - I didn't wear my feeding tops for a couple of weeks last time until tummy was well deflated as I didn't want to stretch them out!

Clothes for birth pool - I've got 3 options... Maternity bra, plain black vest top, or stark naked. Think the last one is most likely, but figured a vest would be a good choice if I actually care about flashing people :)

I've bought a second hand tommee tippee breast pump (same as I used with DS and got on well with) but all of the bits that go near milk can be sterilised. I know the girl I bought it off though, so not too bothered as I know she only used it twice and produced no milk anyway! Not sure how milk can get into the motor of a pump, surely that would break it anyway?

We have got girl's name chosen and DS is already calling my bump by it, so if she doesn't suit it when she arrives I don't know what we will do! Have chosen a boy's name just in case scan was wrong, but if it was then he will be wearing an awful lot of pink Grin
