OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
IceNoSlice · 12/02/2014 18:27

I agree with Rock - you're still a way off yet mrs.

OwlinaTree · 12/02/2014 21:44

Rock hope you are OK, could you ring for advice from the midwifes?

I've had an odd one, bit of a lump by my belly button. Do you think it is trying to pop out? I have it pierced so don't know if that makes any difference?

Yogibear72 · 12/02/2014 21:58

Good luck with turning the baby Mrs as the others say there's still time to turn and you are doing all the exercises. I know someone who did acupuncture and it worked for her, but you need to wait till 38 weeks.

I know this has probably been done before but I need to ask... Electric breast pumps. I've been told that Medula are the best but had a look and they are over 100 quid! And I don't even know whether I'll get on with breast feeding.
So alternative options are - hire one from NCT (long term this could work out more expensive than buying);
Or buy second hand from EBay. Is there anything wrong with doing this? No guarantee, is one disadvantage I guess.. Confused
What's everyone else doing?

FrankelInFoal · 12/02/2014 22:09

Yogi I've bought a cheap manual pump as a "just in case". I figure if we need something more long term then I can always do a next day delivery from Amazon.

I'm 37+1 today so am very happy that I qualify for the birthing unit now Grin. No real signs of anything here so far, though bump has dropped.

mrsmugoo · 12/02/2014 23:51

It's been "probably" breech for my last three appointments but they won't confirm by scan until my 36 week appt which is next week at 36+5 by which time if it is still breech it would be ECV time the week after.

It seems they don't seem to care until right at the last minute which is nerve wracking to say the least!

Re: babies turning - I've heard and read stories of people not noticing or feeling their baby flip.

So at the moment I can't tell for sure by feeling but it is definitely in a different position to last time.

Flumpinblues · 13/02/2014 18:46

Hi all. I have a Tomee Tippee Elec Breast Pump, worked well
although my boobs don't produce enough to express really - just enough for baby when she wants it. But pump is fine and cheaper than others I saw. Usually on offer in Mothercare.

I reckon I'm full term at 36 weeks today (some say 37 but I'm going with 36 as makes me feel better.) Last scan baby was also breech, I have no idea if she has turned or not. Have next appointment on Monday.

Anyone else taking a look at the Baby names board? We had a very shortlist of 1 name but I'm seriously considering an alternative!! I'll share if you will!

LyraSilvertongue · 13/02/2014 19:27

I was going to buy the Tommee Tippee because it's £66 in Tesco but I've read a lot of bad reviews which put me off. The Medela Swing is generally considered the best.

EmFlat · 13/02/2014 19:55

Where's the baby names board, Flump? I'm down to 2, but really torn...

FrankelInFoal · 13/02/2014 20:10

We've narrowed it down to a short list of 4. We're not picking a definite name until after the birth as I've had too many people tell me that they've picked a name only to find it doesn't "suit" the baby when it arrives!

commsgirl · 13/02/2014 20:37

I never thought I'd be one to pick a name out before but we've been completely decided on one for a while now. Nothing else feels like 'the one' as much as we've tried to come up with a shortlist. Obviously if when she's here it doesn't feel right then we'll come up with an alternative but it feels pretty set :).

Flumpinblues · 13/02/2014 21:16

EmFlat, the name board is under Talk - Topics - Becoming a Parent - Baby Names.

Lyra, I think I only paid £30 for my pump, admittedly I haven't used the Medela though. Perhaps pumping would be easier with it. Off to read the reviews I think so thanks for the info :0)

I know what you mean Frankel and Commsgirl about names, actually last time we were pretty decided on one name then changed in the labour room to the one that was just - right!

IceNoSlice · 13/02/2014 21:42

Take care on the names boards ladies, people don't hold back there! It can be a brutal place - you've been warned Wink

EmFlat · 13/02/2014 22:04

Cheers Flump - Ice is right, it's a harsh place!

No-one else has to share their current shortlists, but I'd be interested to know what you think for the two DH and I are down to... Ben or Cian? (Key-an, for those unsure). Don't fancy spelling it Kian, I've an aversion to 'K' boys names thanks to the Rooneys Wink

dizhin79 · 13/02/2014 22:58

em Cian is lovely Ben very sturdy name! I'm struggling to decide on expressing whether to hold off buying one or just take the plunge and get one b4 bub is here, though I'm thinking prob hold off then it'll be a nice mat leave mission, only 2 weeks to go thank god!

commsgirl · 13/02/2014 23:29

Em Cian is lovely. Ben/Benjamin would have been our front runner for a boy. It's a family name but we also both just love it. Sorry that probably wasn't helpful, I love them both!

IceNoSlice · 14/02/2014 04:50

Hmmm I would vote Ben. I like simple names that you don't need to explain (having had to spell out my maiden name every single time!)

puggywug81 · 14/02/2014 07:34

Em both those names are lovely.

Comms I am the same, bump has been Findlay since 20 week's scan, I'm just hoping he looks like a Findlay on the day!

Hope everyone is well this morning, I am on official count down, just need to get through today then exactly 2 weeks left till i start mat leave woohoo!

In other news u have my physio referral tidy for my pelvic pain, really hoping they can help!

mrs good luck with the turning.

puggywug81 · 14/02/2014 07:36

Eek Damn autocorrect!
U = I
tidy = today

OwlinaTree · 14/02/2014 07:51

Last day of work today!!!!!!!

EmFlat · 14/02/2014 08:28

Thanks Comms, Diz and Puggy Grin Exactly, Ice, that's my concern too! Cian's another one to always have to pronounce for people, and we've already got a surname that does that Wink Hm, may just have to wait and see if we get that 'moment' when he's born, and decide then.
Enjoy your last day, Owlina!

puggywug81 · 14/02/2014 11:57

Congratulations on your last day Owlina!

mrsmugoo · 14/02/2014 12:00

Our names have been chosen since forever - we have a boy name and a girl name decided on. I just can't wait to be introduced to my little one by name by my DH after being team yellow - it's so exciting.

I bought the Medela Swing electric breast pump yesterday - bloody expensive! I think we have everything now - just some more sorting out of the flat in order to give everything a home and then we are "ready" for this little one to make it's grand entrance :)

Imeg · 14/02/2014 16:54

I'm enjoying this maternity leave business: have already had a nap this afternoon and now contemplating a bath!

OwlinaTree · 14/02/2014 19:47

Thanks for your kind wishes, I've had a lovely last day, flowers and cards etc. Week of holiday now, then maternity leave!!

Can't wait for the mid day naps!

liberuna · 15/02/2014 03:27

owl congrats on getting through to the end.
Everyone enjoy those naps !

ice my goodness, you're a busy bee I barely have the energy to get into work!

flump how are you feeling? Were you able to get some respite from all your symptoms?

em both names are lovely. Ive chosen Lorelai for my pink bundle. Had it picked for ages so I hope she suits it when she arrives as I have no back-up :)
