Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Kirsty770 · 14/06/2014 18:21

My eldest starts Year 1 on the Wednesday 3rd September, so really close and my youngest will have his reception gradual start around then. Last year was a week but heard it might be over 3 weeks this year, not great timing.

I've got a 28 week scan on the 26th June, hope he's not huge, my blood sugars have not been great recently. Has anyone else got a scan planned soon?

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 14/06/2014 19:49

Got a 32 week scan in a month's time. Quite uncomfortable in my experience! Teaching and research hospital so the scans go on for ever....

Kirsty770 · 14/06/2014 20:57

I can't remember much about mine in the past, do remember that I couldn't make much out and got no photos. Mine are booked in for 28, 32 and 36 weeks already. They are booked in at 9, then got to see the consultant then diabetic nurse at 11, so a long morning. Wondering when they will decide my induction date.

pommedeterre · 15/06/2014 08:15

I've got one on the 7th July, odd 30 week one, to replace 28 and 32 I think!

I don't remember being uncomfortable for later scans other than the lying flat/feelings like passing out feelings!

Passthebiscuitspls · 18/06/2014 12:09

Hey ladies.
Did anyone feel way worse in the early days of pregnancy with number 3? With my first, I had sore boobs and that was all. With my second, I felt really queasy and had sore boobs again. With this one, I have sore boobs, feel soooooo queasy and food doesn't go down well at all. I also feel so dizzy almost constantly. I feel totally out of sorts. I normally worry in the beginning that there's no baby in there when I get near the first scan but this time there's no mistaking how rough I feel! I bloody hope it's not twins! Xx

Kirsty770 · 18/06/2014 21:31

I did feel loads worse with my third, I was frequently sick and always shivering and feeling sick this time. Was sick once with my other 2.

I feel bad today, stomach aching loads and got really bad hayfever and tired. Feeling sorry for myself, unfortunately my family don't care and still having to do everything for all of them. Hmm

Hope your feeling better soon, think I felt better about 14 weeks.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 18/06/2014 23:11

Yes! Worst by far. Will get better though Smile

Passthebiscuitspls · 19/06/2014 12:13

Ah thanks girls, that makes me feel better! I just don't feel with it, really spaced out and dizzy. Hopefully as the weeks go on it will get easier. Think last time at about 13 weeks I felt vaguely normal again.

Sorry you're feeling rubbish still Kirsty

Xx

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 19/06/2014 14:26

How many weeks are you biscuits? Why not get an appointment to check your blood pressure / iron etc. There might be something that would help!

Kirsty770 · 19/06/2014 16:45

I'm feeling much better today thanks, was just having a bad day. This heat doesn't help though.

Hope you don't have to suffer for much longer.

Passthebiscuitspls · 19/06/2014 19:12

I'm only 8 weeks so forever to go!! ;) I've got my booking in appt next week so I'll ask the midwife then. Thanks!

Kirsty; fab news! Glad you're feeling better
Xx

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 19/06/2014 22:22

I guess they'll do your blood pressure and blood tests then biscuits. Eight weeks was hideous for me. Nine weeks I managed to go out for a pizza. Ten weeks - hideous. Eleven weeks - started to turn a corner. A very slow corner but it was definite. Hopefully the worst will be over soon.

Well my five weeks signed off work have ended and I was back in yesterday. I had a couple of hours of feeling really great and capable and then just started to go downhill! Haven't felt that ill / tired since I was last in the office. Had really bad cramps / braxton hicks ? at the end of the day and walking was really slow and uncomfortable but still had to make it across London and collect boys from their various places. So - have decided to start mat leave at the start of the summer holidays. Will be 33 weeks. 13 more days in the office. So much for working as late as possible!

I think it will be worth it. Yesterday morning there was shouting and tantrums and yesterday evening there was shouting and tantrums - it's just not worth the pain. We will be screwed as far as money goes either way - just a few weeks earlier Grin

Kirsty you mentioned a few posts back about the phased start of school. If that is the case you might be able to plead special circumstances...? When DS1 started reception he was due to start, mornings only, the second week of October Shock. The same week I was due to go back to work after DS2 mat leave, and starting him with a childminder. I asked and they brought his start date forward. I wouldn't have thought most children would actually need three weeks to settle in....

Kirsty770 · 22/06/2014 21:50

Sorry to hear your not feeling so good, I'm planning on finishing around the start of the summer holidays too, at the beginning of August, it won't be took long before I give birth and much easier with childcare. I'm taking 3 weeks of holidays then start maternity leave close to the birth I think. Previously I've finished earlier than planned as was so tired and could hardly work, so easier to plan to go early. It's not going to be restful this time any way with 2 children, then hopefully can go back at the end of the next summer holidays.

I find out tomorrow about the start of my youngest at school, my Mum has gone on holiday now so she will be here to help and my partner should be off to help out too. I just want to be here to take them in for their first days back.

Was walking about a lot today in the heat and now my back and hips are very sore.

pommedeterre · 23/06/2014 09:05

Im planning to work right up to induction date, although I might take the last weds and fri off if it is 1st sept though as our nanny has booked a day off on the weds anyway.

Hope the school start thing goes well kirsty, we don't have our first meeting at the school until next weds. Im impatient to know so I can know my induction date! I'd rather it was pushed back so I can get baby out and then be around to settle dd1 into reception and dd2 into nursery.

Sorry to hear you felt so crappy at work have - hope fri/today have been/are better.

I think in many ways this has been an easier pg for me than my other two. No nausea at all really is a welcome change and made the first tri very smooth. Constant thrush has been a Bad Thing though! Im starting to feel really big now (27 + 6) and that always makes me feel a bit grumpy! Dh and I spent the entire weekend trying not to bit each others heads off I think.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 27/06/2014 23:21

Pomme wow! In comparison I'm rather weak and feeble Grin. Am I right in thinking you're self employed? Or did I make that up?

Are you keeping your nanny for when you go back?

Not such a bad day today. Hope everyone gets a rest over the weekend!

pommedeterre · 28/06/2014 08:40

It's a family business - dh, my dad and I run it have. I think your pg sounds much harder than mine so far!

We're keeping the nanny - I'll need to be back by jan doing pt so easier to pay her for a couple of months where she won't be doing much really! Not quite sure how to organize life for her when I'm on maternity, need to have a think about that!

We're off to a three year olds birthday party today, shame the weather seems to have turned! What's everyone else up to?

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 28/06/2014 14:20

DP is off with both boys taking them to the second birthd party of the day. Our house guests have just left after being here since Tuesday. I have a bag full of anti moth devices abd was going to give our bedroom a really thorough clean after finding moths in the wardrobe, wash / dry clean / freeze all the clothes to kill eggs and larvae and then investigate all the clothes that went into the loft a few months ago. Then start on the carpets as we have new wool carpets throughout. This enthusiasm is either nesting related or cause they have already destroyed two much loved items of clothing.

However.

I'm actually watching tennis! And finding it very hard to move.....

Kirsty770 · 28/06/2014 20:47

It's my youngest ones birthday tomorrow so we went to my Mums for a mini party today as they are just back from holiday. Boys enjoyed themselves.

They also decided to share a room again so now have my small bedroom back, so can clear it out, decorate and have the cot and wardrobe in there. So that's good news, no progress was made as we were out all day though.

Had my 28 week scan on Thursday, looking ok, gone smaller for dates, which I am pleased about with the GD and the diabetic team were also pleased with my results, if they go any worse they will put me on insulin, which I think complicates the birth I think, with no eating and making sure I have insulin with me etc. I guess they will keep us in to check the babies sugar levels either way. Been on insulin the last 2 times so don't know any different.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 28/06/2014 21:49

I remember having to express colostrum into a syringe for DS2 as his blood sugar was quite low due to my GD. Did you have that too Kirsty? The most painstaking thing!

Kirsty770 · 28/06/2014 23:46

No, never did that. With my first they tried to top him up with formula, he puked it up over whoever gave it him but took my milk fine, I never fed him the formula and stopped it as soon as I was home, he was a long feeder and very often. With my second at a different hospital he only fed for 20 minutes the whole time I was in hospital, they only took 2 random tests from him, said were all fine and sent me home the next day. I'm going to a different hospital again this time, so not sure what to expect

pommedeterre · 29/06/2014 09:32

With dd1 I remember hand expressing onto a spoon so the midwife could syringe it up. Definitely the weirdest thing is ever done up until that point in my life!

Kirsty770 · 07/07/2014 12:04

How is everyone doing? I've got my work leaving date of the 8th August, taking 3 weeks holiday then maternity should start the weekend I am due to give birth. Starting to get sciatic pain now and getting tired in the afternoons, normally lasts until the children are in bed then wake up a bit. Seems scary that in 8 weeks I will have my baby.

I hope I don't have to express this time, never been very successful with it, not sure I bothered at all the second time round, still got my pump, strangely that's one of the things I kept hold of.

pommedeterre · 07/07/2014 13:11

All good here, booked in for induction this am for 1st september. I too can't believe that in 8 weeks time he'll be here!

Had a growth scan and he is looking big (still in the lines but right at the top). This is good but also worrying for my bits!!

Im going to be so chill about breastfeeding this time. I haven't had great experiences with it (about 7 weeks for dd1 and 9 months for dd2) so Ill be going with the flow. He'll need to be taking a bottle by 3/4 months as I'll be doing bits of work by then and definitely won't be expressing!!

Kirsty770 · 07/07/2014 15:01

How exciting you have a date already, I'm not expecting to be booked in until my 36 week scan, will just have to take whatever date is left by then. I'm pleased he is growing well for you.

I'm just presuming I will breast feed ok again this time as am not planning on getting bottles or a steriliser as have no storage anymore so getting as little as possible for the time being.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 07/07/2014 20:44

Exciting to have your date pomme! That's the day I'm hoping for too for my cs. Have an appointment to book in for it next Monday.

Having some ok days and some dreadful ones! Luckily I got to spend most of the weekend resting (watching tour de france). Thank goodness for a very helpful DP!

Expressing never really worked for me last time. I managed much better with it for DS1 but never got more than a few ounces with DS2.

How are those babies moving? I am getting some very freaky lumps and bumps on my tummy! I think the baby is transverse a lot of the time, so usually have a head or bottom sticking out rather than kicks.
