Not brave in my case! Just something we've wanted for a while and now have the opportunity to do, which we found out in the last couple of weeks. London to Edinburgh. It's going to be hard!

Trying to get our head around the financial side of it at the moment - don't know whether to sell or let our house. And has anyone tried to get a mortgage recently? Based on the same circumstances as when we got a mortgage last year we can borrow way way less. Add to that me not working, having childcare costs showing on my bank statements, plus an extra child and we can borrow about a fiver!

I guess if I go into labour before the cs I'll just head down to the hospital and hope they can fit me in! Need to be a little prepared for that. Sent DP up to the loft yesterday to get the baby clothes down. After twenty minutes of rooting around in boxes he had found one 0-3 sleep suit. He appeared at the loft hatch waving it and saying "is this baby clothes?" Hmm I think he's going to have to go back up there!

Would still hope for a september birthday, although the scottish system is different and the cut off is February, would still be better just in case. Though apart from that wouldn't mind knocking off the last couple of weeks of pregnancy. Even just for the extra weight I wouldn't put on. Been feeling quite sick again and ice cream seems the only thing that appeals. Freezer full of magnums, mars ice creams, crunchie ice creams..... and I have been eating them in bed Blush

Hope you get your work all tied up pomme! I wonder if you will indeed be first to go or if anyone else will beat you to it!

Kirsty770 · 15/08/2014 20:35

We've had a few viewings but no real interest. We looked at mortgages a while a go as were thinking of extending our current mortgage company would give us zero at the time but now seem to want to give us more. Virgin mortgages are generous. Boyfriend should be qualified and getting a pay rise in a few weeks so we were moving based on that really so not going to apply until then.

I've been started on 2 units of insulin with my evening meal now. Hopefully will allow me to have a bit more food as was cutting down to keep the levels low and as I've not long left now hoping it won't have to increase too much. Forgot how much I dislike the injecting but does seem to have helped my readings.

Got a scan next week then will see what date I am given. Was going to be 38 weeks, which because of the insulin will definitely be 38 weeks induction. Seems to be dragging now. Have got a few more things ready and decorated the nursery but need a new mattress and sheets. Started to get the school uniform bought, just need shoes now I think. Not packed a hospital bag yet.

Baby has been facing my left each time I have had a scan, read this week it can make labour more painful, so hoping he turns in time.

How's everyone else doing? I'm 36 weeks tomorrow. So 2 weeks left potentially.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 19/08/2014 20:54

Two weeks today! And less than that for Pomme.

A very strange week for me - the family are all off in Scotland (DP working and the boys off on an island with the GPs) so I have the house entirely to myself for nine days.

Normally that would be the most amazing thing, and I do have so many things I'd like to do - studying, gardening, getting curtains sorted out, starting to do some painting..... but, I just haven't felt up to doing much at all. So frustrating! Am so bored of watching tv but can't really manage much else. I have managed two hair appointments though and to keep buying expensive sleepsuits that I can't afford.

I have always been quite anti-pink and thought I would dress a girl in as boyish clothes as possible. Somehow though, I have a hospital bag full of pink baby clothes Grin

Let us know when you get your date Kirsty

Girlsville and Clara - are you still around?

pommedeterre · 19/08/2014 23:10

have - I have bought lots of things covered in nautical things, planes, cars, robots and spacemen etc. I know it's all crap engineered gender difference bollocks but still, after so much pink and princesses (decided by them not me) and hair clips (god the sodding hair clips!) I can't resist...

It's still a bit scary to think less than two weeks and I'll probably have a baby. Did my birth plan for my medication with my blood consultant today who then instructed me to think about contraception straight after the birth Blush

pommedeterre · 19/08/2014 23:11

Also, have - just chill and do what you feel like. You're going to be very busy pretty soon!

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 20/08/2014 06:02

I know - but I get really fed up if I'm not achieving things!

Must admit I'm glad to be not picking up any baby blue things this time! Have decided pink is fine -it's just a colour after all. Not so impressed with the way girls clothes are covered in butterflies, balloons, fawns and whimsical stuff. I want to get some brighter clothes in other colours but will wait and see what colouring the baby has first. One ds is brunette (or whatever the boy version of brunette is!) and one is a proper redhead.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 20/08/2014 06:04

And I'm excited about hair clips..... and very excited about tights. Stripey tights!!!

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 20/08/2014 06:07

I always laugh at the thought of contraception after a new baby.... but then I do know a couple of people with a 10 month age gap Shock

Not likely in our house Grin

pommedeterre · 20/08/2014 08:34

Have - they are cute but x2 there's just so many of them and they get everywhere (and dd2 pulls them all out after 10 mins). They both like to decorate me in hair clips and I am often seen down the local shops with peppa pig hair clips I've forgotten to take out!

My favourite girl patterns when I can find them are fruit and polka dots I think. I love star patterns which seems to be easier to indulge for boys.

Tights are great, I always think in the winter tights and a jumper dress is the most practical baby outfit.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 20/08/2014 22:02

Where you have hairclips we have sticks. Throughout the house, in my handbag, in the car, under beds...... in beds. In pockets and in the washing machine.... We never go out without bringing a stick home!

I've gone for stars, rainbows, elephants and bunnies.

Feeling a lot better today so have foolishly started stripping paint off the banister. Really wish I hadn't started! It's going to be a nightmare. Grin

Kirsty770 · 21/08/2014 22:48

Hi,

Have, hope your enjoying some alone time. I was on my own for a bit yesterday as boys were on a sleepover, was quite bored but after shopping all my plans ended up coming to nothing as was worn out and achy. Spent most of the day before doing school shoe shopping and walking round Ikea so probably needed a rest.

Had my 36 week scan this morning, AC still looking good, head gone up to 50th percentile unfortunately but seemed happy enough and got booked in for induction on the 1st September. Baby seems to be weighing 5lbs 5 at the moment so dug out my first size and tiny baby clothes for hospital, hopefully they will fit. Started packing my bag but full even without loads of things I want to take as having to take a big towel this time. It's just a holdall so not sure whether to take 2 or look for a bigger one.

I've been started on insulin now, 2 units in the evening, so not too bad and hopefully not for much longer either.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 22/08/2014 07:54

So we have two inductions scheduled for the 1st now? You must be pleased to get the date Kirsty!

Remind me, is your induction due to diabetes?

I have now had my date put back by two days to the 4th Sad. Quite annoying as I was down to 12 days away. Apparently someone else needs that slot more. I went into labour with DS1 at 38 weeks though so not sure of my chances of getting to 39+3!

However I have an appointment with the diabetes nurse this morning and wonder if they might bring it forward again because of that? My GTT results were 10.5 after one hour which they said was above the threshold but I think because my 2 hour results were ok I didn't get a diagnosis of GD. However, I emailed the hospital cause I had the same results in my last pg but DS2's blood sugar was still low when he was born even though I was on insulin the night before. So they put me on the GD list!

Think my hospital bag will be quite full Kirsty! Though am determined to keep it to one bag.

pommedeterre · 22/08/2014 13:46

oo hair clips probably better than sticks Have - thats cute though, sticks as souvenirs :)

oo Kirsty we'll be induced together, race you, hahaha. I spent a bomb on kids shoes last week to kit them out.

Thats annoying have when you're near enough to be on count down too.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 22/08/2014 17:54

Well I'm monitoring my blood sugar for the next week. An appointment on the 1st to review it and if it's not going well they'll review my date.

Will try to be good Grin The thing is when I feel sick, which is quite often, ice cream is really what I fancy.

Kirsty770 · 22/08/2014 18:57

Hi,

Yes being induced due to the diabetes, will be 38+2 then, longest I will have been pregnant for. The consultant mentioned they might skip the pessary or gel and just go for the drip and waters broken. I managed to avoid the drip last time as they said would leave me for an hour and had given birth by then. Normally happens the day after for me, had the gel and the pessary previously.

Just been out to eat as we had a house viewing and forgot my insulin, won't be checking my sugars that early this evening.

I was worried baby was lying to the side but the scan showed he is moving right across my front and side to side, doesn't sound engaged yet.

I was lucky, my Mum paid for school shoes for me, although not paying out for childcare anymore is currently saving us a fortune.

Have, you found much else to entertain yourself or using the time to nap? I slept for 9.5 hours last night, good job as had more energy for cleaning today.

Anyone else had the health visitor come round before giving birth? I've read a few threads where they ash they have come about 37 weeks but not heard anything like that round here.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 22/08/2014 22:42

Felt quite good for a couple of days so spent yesterday stripping paint from the staircase! And suffered for it today so lots of time on sofa. It looks nice though. Need to summon the energy to do the rest of it if I can.

Nine and a half hours is an amazing sleep! Last night was a bit better but I've not been sleeping more than five or six hours for some reason. I'm often wide awake at 5.30. Good practice!

No HV here. In fact I have only ever seen a HV once, after DS1 was born.

And no school shoes either - DS1's infant school is no uniform. There will be one when he moves into the juniorschool though (or when we move) so going to make the most of being able to choose nice clothes for him.

Kirsty770 · 26/08/2014 21:13

Hope everyone is ok. Not long to go now. Anyone had any signs that's baby might come sooner than planned? I've not had any signs but feel enormous all of a sudden.

We sold our house on Saturday so been looking this week at new ones, had one offer refused and not found others we like, got viewings all week, keeping our minds occupied anyway.

Started on the raspberry leaf tea as think it did help with my labours, they were quite quick though.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 26/08/2014 23:40

Brilliant house news! Congratulations.

Had loads of period pain and pressure yesterday. Baby was going nuts, trying to get head engaged I think! Then nothing today but did have a midwife appt. I'm feeling bigger too - no longer such a neat bump!

Kirsty770 · 27/08/2014 00:11

Thanks very much, just panicking about it falling through now.

Are you still on your own? Resting more?

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 27/08/2014 04:36

Insomnia! No, everyone's back plus MIL who will be here another week and a half. I'm getting lots of help but the boys are really full on just now and obviously I want to spend time with them since they've been away.

Been monitoring my blood sugar which hasn't been that good so now started the diabetic diet. Meeting on Friday to see if they want to pull date forward again.... hope so, though am beginning to be a bit Shock at the closeness of the baby actually being here.
How are you both feeling about the induction?

pommedeterre · 27/08/2014 10:49

Well done kirsty on the house, that was super speedy! Good luck with the house hunting.

I feel enormous too! Bump getting achy and some of baby's movements really hurt. Getting cervix pains too, maybe engagement like you say have. Definitely feeling less active and generally capable!

Am ready to not be pregnant anymore but happy to wait until Monday as still have lots to do at work (and dh is adamant it must be a september birthday!). PILS coming down Sunday pm which I am not looking forward to but hey ho! They will have the girls while I am in hospital so I hope to get baby out quickly so we can dispatch them soon and get on with just us 5 (oh my lord!) hanging out and bonding. Will your MIL be there when you bring baby home then have? You must get on with her!

Kirsty770 · 27/08/2014 12:43

I'm feeling ok about the induction, glad it's after 38 weeks now really as first was a bit early and he's always been a bit more chesty and scrawny and when born was sicky and full of mucus for months, always wonder if him being earlier had any effect on that.

Been viewing more houses, the one we want is huge but needs loads of work and they won't budge on price. Hoping to make a decision by the weekend so we can concentrate on the baby more. Off to asda shortly, see they gave a baby event and really need maternity pads, struggled to find them in any shops recently. Only bought 2 packs initially, sure I will need more though.

I have to ring the hospital at 7am on day of admission, the consultant said wasn't to check they had beds as definitely had one booked, suppose people might go into labour early and not need the bed.

My diet has been terrible, after they said baby was small and only a week to go was thinking it didn't matter too much, now am worrying that it might make the baby's blood sugar low when born and we might have to stay in longer. Last time they just took 2 readings and let me go home even though baby was not feeding. Said as breast fed so long previously they weren't worried. First time they checked sugars every 4 hours and would not let me feed inbetween times. Different hospital again so not sure how they will be. Looking forward to stopping the injections and tablets though.

My boyfriend qualified in his job yesterday, so he's free for his paternity leave so I'm more relaxed about going into labour now.

At least we haven't got upto 4 weeks left of being pregnant, I am grateful for that.

clara85 · 28/08/2014 09:01

I am still in denial 15 days until baby comes assuming I don't go into labour before then which will be a nightmare for childcare although I know everyone else has to cope with that its a worry for me as boys currently booked to go to nursery on the day my section is booked as my elderly parents couldn't cope with the 2 of them for potentially a 12 hour day.

Baby still measuring small ish here but consultant happy, up to 15th centile so I am not going in early but as planned at 39 + 3 which will be the longest I have been pregnant by a few days so fingers crossed no labour before then!

How do you all plan to manage with childcare while in hospital? I only ever want my DH with me to help but this time I feel he will have to stay home more with the boys on day 2 & day 3 which is fine so long as section goes ok , I am " higher risk" due to the amount of scar tissue I had last time and this being my 3rd section which is a worry as the risk of complications is higher :(

Congrats to everyone selling houses / partners getting new jobs, I cannot imagine the stress of all of that just now :)

Kirsty770 · 30/08/2014 16:21

Hi,

I should be packing and cleaning but so tired today. I've started packing the bag for my boys to go and stay with my parents from tomorrow, they will have to be home by Tuesday night as one starts school on Wednesday, need to check his uniform and PE kit are out and sorted. This time last year we were on holiday until the morning of his first day in, he was starting reception so was only in for a couple of hours.

Been stressing about houses more than birth as can't find one to buy and worried our buyer will get fed up as chain will be long. Put in plenty of offers but none accepted as yet.

Luckily my parents are happy to have the children as long as is needed and would even drive over to do the school run if needs be, one less thing to worry about.

Ive realised I've not washed any of the baby blankets or bedding for baby yet. I don't wash new stuff but my old stored stuff all need refreshing. Just washed all our clothes and shopped for chocolatey stuff and snack type food for boyfriend being here and when I get home.

Feeling very achy today, not sure if that was the shopping trip this morning though.

Good Luck to all those booked in for next week.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 31/08/2014 21:04

Good luck tomorrow ladies! Can't believe it's come round finally..... or already? Mine's still Thursday and both can't wait and am suddenly quite scared by it all. Look forward tobaby news.....
