Sorry -

Kirsty770 · 27/02/2014 12:22

Sorry, you have that worry and so long to wait too.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 27/02/2014 13:22

It's called a harmony test. Actually I think I'm very lucky to have the option as it's quite new. They count the number of T21 chromosomes in your blood so it's an alternative to CVS / amnio which carries risk of m/c. It's just it's much longer for the results.

The blood test I had at my scan was for hormone levels, part of the combined test. That was the main indicator with hcG being twice as high as it should and the other one (Papp A?) being less than it should. The nuchal fold measurement was just over normal and I'm 34 - didn't think my age would be a factor yet but it is.

So - taken the day off work and trying to feel happier! It is a pretty small chance after all, less than 3%, but I feel like I have to think about the worst case in case we have to make that decision...

Still feeling ropey as hell too (maybe due to high hcG levels?)

And yes, we've told our parents and I've told a couple of friends who were in the know anyway.

Anyway, good luck pomme for next week and girls for tomorrow. Look forward to hearing about it!

Cleaner is here so I have to get off my arse and tidy some bits of the house so she can actually clean. Hard life eh! Wink

Girlsville · 27/02/2014 17:59

HaveYouTried - hope the next two weeks pass quickly. It must be difficult waiting, but very ood that you have the option of Harmony rather than invasive.

Am getting so nervous for tomorrow, I feel like its my first! Will update you all then.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 01/03/2014 09:28

How did it go Girlsville?

Girlsville · 01/03/2014 18:34

Thank goodness, all went well! Baby looks fine, a the screening was low risk. My due date been brought forward to September 9th. DH worried it will be august baby and youngest in year as I was early with both dds, but I've told him it's a minor issue!
Feels much more real and was so great to see the little thing!

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 01/03/2014 18:46

Glad to hear it! My due date is 8th and would be elcs so will be very keen to make sure not scheduled before 39 weeks....

pommedeterre · 02/03/2014 10:25

Great news girls!

Did you both get screening result on the day? I think with my other two I had to wait a couple of days and they phoned me.

I have an appointment with my consultant tomorrow and then scan on weds!

Girlsville · 02/03/2014 14:35

Yes, I got screening result on day - am at UCH hospital in London and that is the practice there, but friends at other hospitals have had to wait a week or so

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 02/03/2014 17:03

I'm at uch too girls!!!

Girlsville · 02/03/2014 21:05

Ooh Haveyou! Funny to think we may be sitting in a waiting room together!

clara85 · 03/03/2014 10:27

Have - the harmony test is very detailed and glad you are getting it, has that been offered to you on the NHS? A friend had it done privatley but it cost £500 and you can find out the gender from very early as part of the test! Fingers crossed its all ok for you x

I had my booking appointment last week at the hospital and said I was worried as my only symptom of tierdness has even stopped a few weeks ago which is very odd and the lovley midwife sent me for a reassurance scan there and then ! was very grateful as never thought they would do that when my 12 week scan is this week but saw heartbeat and measuring right on for dates, the 2nd empty sac is still there and still empty so I had to have another internal scan.

hope everyone else is doing well , when are you all telling your kids? My boys are young so dont really understand but we have started saying theres a baby in mums tummy and showing him the scan pics x

Girlsville · 03/03/2014 11:15

So pleased all ok at reassurance scan Clara. My dds are 4 and almost 3, I don't think we will tell them until I am showing as such a long time to wait. Dd1 will be so excited, I don't think I can cop with her asking every day for 6 months when the baby will come!

pommedeterre · 03/03/2014 11:34

I saw the consultant this am and she found the heartbeat with the doppler which is great.

Glad the scan went well clara! What are your boys saying about the baby? My girls are sometimes interested in the idea of a baby in my tummy but mostly not bothered. DD1 has expressed a desire to help me with the baby to the extent that she would like it to sleep in her room - I reckon she'd make one night!

What will they do about the empty sac clara?

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 03/03/2014 20:19

Great stuff pomme - you can relax a bit before the scan now!

Clara well done on getting your scan done! What a nice midwife.

If we get a good result from harmony think I'd like to get another scan done (privately I guess) just so we can properly relax and enjoy it.

It was covered by nhs - just so happens my hospital is one of few trialling it. Lucky me. I've heard you can get it as part of a £180 early scan package at fetal medicine centre in London.

Should I ever be pregnant again I would spend a lot to have it done as a matter of course as early as possible and avoid this horrible horrible uncertainty.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 03/03/2014 20:27

And on a lighter note - popped out to get some cash this morning as my mum was taking ds2 out. Had to run home violently retching and in the process managed to wet myself.

Nice!

pommedeterre · 04/03/2014 09:22

haha have got to love a good wee story! That has reminded me that I should probably start on the pelvic floor exercises at some point..!

clara85 · 05/03/2014 11:59

when do you get the harmony results back have? hopefully it wont be too long and thats excellent your hospital is trialling it, a benefit of being near london I guess. I am up north in Scotland so dont tend to get the good stuff first :)

Pomme when is your next scan? my consultant didnt even mention the 2nd emty sac, just the midwife said it will disappear at some point and not affect the baby....

My 12 week scan was yesterday and I was measuring ahead by a few days which is bad for a potential section date as I might be due to be sectioned on the day or day after my ds birthday which isnt ideal :(

I am going to book a gender scan for 16 weeks , cannot wait and thankfully all places here seem to be doing half price scans just now so will only cost £40!!

pommedeterre · 05/03/2014 12:50

Today clara, I just got back, all good, measuring 1 day ahead.

My dbro and I have back to back birthdays and we really liked it if thats any help :)

Snap on the gender scan plan, although not sure they are half price around here!

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 05/03/2014 20:31

Glad to hear scans were ok!

Popped into hospital today as one of my booking blood tests was mislabelled and ran into the midwife running the harmony tests.... she said it should be before the weekend.

Scared....

Back in work today and going to be doing a full three days (!) this week. It's just so hard and makes me feel so much worse physically and usually I'm trying not to cry on the commute. I don't know why it makes me feel so much worse, not being able to eat the right food at the right time, no fresh air, no chance to lie down.....? Also, getting boys to childcare by 8, commute to other side of London then back again for pick up at 5.45 isn't ideal and DP tends to leave the house well before 7 and not be back till after 7.30.

Thank god I don't have a stressful / customer facing / classroom facing Shock job!

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 05/03/2014 21:16

Sorry, what a lot of moaning!

Good things -ds2 seems to be out of nappies as of yesterday. No accidents at nursery today all day! I'm amazed - he's not quite 2 and a half and his big brother is still not all that great at it at age 6!

And tonight I'm in spare room hiding from the night time visitors (dp took side off cot at the weekend and ds1 is having bad dreams so plenty of comings and goings in night)

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 05/03/2014 21:19

Me again. Forgot to say - just found out one of my best friends from uni expecting her third on same day as me..... very strange!

Girlsville · 05/03/2014 21:24

Thinking of you Haveyou - hope you have good results.

pommedeterre · 07/03/2014 09:31

Fingers crossed for you have. Good work on the nappies! How did the sleeping going? No sleep round here either, nightmares dd1, allergic reaction to something from dd2 so she's puffed up like a ball and a very annoying cough from dh!

Theres a few people I know having no 3 over summer or with me. Maybe we're all not so weird after all!!
