Hi everyone. Its been a very long time since I have posted on mumsnet, but today I have found out that I am expecting baby number 2. My ds1 is just over three years old. Bit shocked to be having another baby but very pleased too.
It would be great to get a thread going as people join me with their April 2007 due dates!!
Very nervous as ds1 had group b strep and birth and was v poorly but forewarned is forearmed as they say!
Look forward to chatting with anyone who feels like posting!

Oh Bucky, I am crossing my fingers for you now, and not uncrossing them till the 21st.

Feeling a bit better on the MS front now - could it possibly be starting to lift (am 10 wks on Sun)?! I'm worried that I'm getting too complacent about this pregnancy - having had a scan already, and now got to nearly 10 weeks. Am even very tempted to tell DD (3.8) as she'll be so excited, but I must keep telling myself not to take anything for granted before 12 weeks . . .

Smole · 07/09/2006 09:54

Everything crossed for you Bucky.

I had my scan today (8+6)and there it was with a really strong heartbeat. Never seen one with a heartbeat. So relieved.

CaptainDippy · 07/09/2006 10:18

Yey for strong heartbeats!! @ these scans - I'll have to wait til 12 weeks, not much longer now though - I am 9 weeks - can't believe I've got a little person growing inside me again - so strange!! Looking forward to meeting my midwife on Monday, not looking forward to my driving test on Tues.

So hoping for you Bucky - go bean!!

Hope everyone has a lovely day ......

hensden · 07/09/2006 10:37

Hi all,
Bucky, Wow really hope everything turns out well for you. Fingers crossed for you.

Bramshott, really jealous your MS is easing, I think we've got the same due date so far and i'm still suffering, Yuk.

It's my birthday today, and it's made me think about being an 'older' mum. My mum and dad were a year younger when they had me and people used to think they were my grand parents. It used to make me really sad for them. Don't want my DC to feel like that..

Hugs to all

CaptainDippy · 07/09/2006 10:42

Did you get my email ok champs???

CaptainDippy · 07/09/2006 10:43

Wrong thread. Sorry. (PG Brain on over-load!!)

Greengirlforever · 07/09/2006 10:53

Happy Birthday Hensden !

It's like that for me too - get this - my DS1 (then aged 11 but looking a lot older) was out in the park with DS2 in his buggy a couple of years ago, and he reckons people were giving him funny looks because they thought he was a teenage dad!

Just keep a young (or in my case, immature) attitude and don't dress like an oldie and you'll be fine. There are some parents at my DS1's school, my age or younger and I wonder what they've been preserved in! And you're still under 40 so nothing to moan about!

CaptainDippy · 07/09/2006 11:20

Happy Birthday hendsen!! Hope you have a super Birthday!! xx

twinkle183 · 07/09/2006 11:27

Oh Buckfyans - I am so sorry that you are going through this!!! Just stay positive, babe!! Fingers, toes and everything is crossed for you!

Happy Birthday hensden hope you have a good day!!!

EllieMayW · 07/09/2006 11:29

Happy Birthday Hensden!

Can anyone recommend a good pregnancy book? I have one called The Pregnancy Bible and it seems pretty good, I just wondered whether there was a clear favourite out there (noting of course that we cannot talk about you know who as instructed by Munsnet).

Bramshott · 07/09/2006 12:36

Happy Birthday Hensden! Sorry you are still feeling crap. I'd like to stress that when I say I feel better, I very much mean "better than a week ago", rather than "better and not sick at all"!!

Bramshott · 07/09/2006 13:01

On the book front, I had "What to expect when you're expecting" with DD, but to be honest, this time I'd probably steer clear of the books (have gone off Miriam Stoppard since I read "most women are fine in their normal clothes until 5 or 6 months") and just post all my worrie, moans and queries on Mumsnet!

liath · 07/09/2006 14:04

Happy Birthday Hensden!

EllieMay - the book I enjoyed was "The best friends guide to pregnancy (or what the doctors don't tell you)" by Vicki Iovine - it's well written and very very funny.

Possibly feel less sick now but it's probably psychological as I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and started feeling less sick at 9 weeks with dd. Still craving pickled onion monster munch....

EllieMayW · 07/09/2006 14:14

Thanks Liath and Bramshott. I see the advanatges of no books too! I have had more reassurance reading these threads than any book. As for same clothes, I have already bought a new bra - and left the shop in it as the old one was so uncomfortable.

Wow, was about to say no cravings until I read "pickled onion monstor munch"! - although i always have loved them so not sure i can blame that on the bean!

CaptainDippy · 07/09/2006 15:09

I went for the "no book" approach with all of mine and they seem to be ok ...... I think!

Pickled Onion Monster Munch ....... mmmmmmm........

CaptainDippy · 07/09/2006 15:10

That should read both of mine - not all - Makes us sound like the Waltons or something .......

"G'night Jim Boy..."

LOL

AngeG · 07/09/2006 16:34

Happy Birthday Hensden, hope you've had a good day.

I definitely recommend the vicki iovine best friend guide to pregnancy it's very funny. Other wise agree with the others it's better to ask friend or us lot on here.

Pickled Onion Monster Munch, I've had cravings for them along with salt & vinegar sqaures.

As for clothes so far i've lost about 4lbs so my clothes still fit but do seem to be tighter...very strange! Bra wise I've already bought more gone from a 32D/DD to a 34 DD hope I don't get too much bigger with DS I was a 36DD at the end but he was 6wks prem so who knows how big they could have got!

Was really sick last night can't work out if it was a bug or MS still only managed a Special K cereal bar today and copious ampounts of Ginger Beer and not a lot else. I'm really annoyed cos DH was going to take us out for a meal tonight and I just don't feel up to it

Sorry didn't mean to go on so much.
Hope you are all ok xx

Buckfyans · 07/09/2006 18:24

Happy birthday Hensden. I wish it was my birthday . I hope you gots lots of love and v. importantly lots of presents .

Sexonlegs · 07/09/2006 21:10

Hi ladies, and Happy Birthday Hensden.
Funny you should mention pickled onion monster much. I was feeling so sick this am, went in to the newsagents, and the only thing I fancied, and bought, was pickled onion monster munch!
Also seem to keep wanting coca cola, which is dreadful - never normally drink the stuff!
So, everyone ok. Bucky, how are you doing today. And MIAM where are you at?
Need to head, but love to everyone. xx

doobydoo · 07/09/2006 21:57

Happy Birthday Hensden..hope it was agood one.
Hurrah for all the positive scans..I want one.Felt abit cramy this eve and keep running to the loo.Still feel sick which i am reading as a good sign.
Pickled onion monster munch and salt and vinegar squares are what have been missing from my meagre diet and i know they are the answer to ms!I am going on a hunt for them tomorrow
Night,night ladies and beans.

bubblez · 08/09/2006 09:57

Moning all,

Happy belated bday to Hensden.

How is everyone today? I'm feeling more and more sick as the days go on. (wk9+3 today) I'm also getting cramps in my pelvic area. I don't think that the stress is helping either. (more here) sometimes I wonder if being a single mum of a newborn and toddler would just be easier.

Sorry to put a downer on the start of a day. How is everyone else?

Smole · 08/09/2006 10:38

Morning Ladies.

Well I got in last night to discover I've been booked in for an early dating scan on Wednesday, which I presume is the early scan the midwife said I probably wouldn't get. I was going to cancel since I only had a scan yesterday but DH said we should go for reassurance. So I'll be having another scan next week!

Sexonlegs · 08/09/2006 10:39

Morning all. Hiya Bubblez. I feel awful too. Touch wood, I have not been sick, but I feel sick all the time apart from when I am asleep! Dread waking up and feeling sh*t all day long. Luckily dh is around loads at the mo, as has been made redundant (fortunately with a good pay out), so he is taking care of dd as I feel so incapable. Boobs are sore as hell too. I know we shouldn't moan as we are lucky to be pg, but my God, feeling ropy all the time is not fun is it!
Anyway, at work, so need to pretend to be busy - it is so boring here!!!
Bye for now.

emmymummy · 08/09/2006 10:46

Hey Bubblez, so sorry your dp is being such a prat. He really needs to understand that you need calm, support and stability at this sicky emotional time, and not another big kid to look after. If you need to vent your frustration you can rely on us here to give you all the support you need. Big hugs coming your way xxx

I'm feeling a bit emotional today as dd started school this morning. She was fine, I left her doing painting and she didn't even notice me go. Looking forward to picking her up at 1pm and hearing all about her morning.

Still suffering badly with ms and complete overwhelming tiredness, but can't sleep at night which just compounds it all. LOL at the pickled onion monster munch, salt & vinegar crisps and coke - I too am hooked on S&V crisps and full-fat coke - am feeling very bloaty as a result, but these are the only things I really fancy. Oh dear am destined to be a big fat bloater again.

bubbaloo · 08/09/2006 10:47

Hensden-Hope you had a fab day yesterday.

Still no MS here,so shouldn't complain, although a few niggly aches and pains in my tummy which is probably the usual stretching stuff going on.

Another pickled onion monster munch craving here too.I ate them everyday when I was pg with Ds last year and have already had a bag of them this morning.

AngeG-Have also bought a few new bra's...in an F cup already!!!

Hope everyone is well.x
