Welcome Topsy, your lo is due on my birthday! I also have a ds who is coming up 21 months - what a small world!
On a different subject completely - I was supposed to be arranging a 30th birthday party for myself for 26th November but don't know what to do now because of the lo? I really don't want the day to go unmarked but think a party might be a bit much - any suggestions?

podglet · 07/08/2006 08:32

Hi,

Welcome to Topsy!

Mummy2Toby - Just seen on the stats that you are due quite early on in the month, so as long as everything is organised before you pop, the party should be ok? Perhaps try to keep numbers down and farm out as much as poss ie hire a venue / get someone to cater etc? Sorry, that might not be much help!

Back to work for me today, still not feeling quite right but at least have stopped throwing up now (fingers crossed) Hope you are feeling better Saralou and all the other poorly people!

Hi all,
I think I've read most of your messages from the last week.

Podglet and LA and others who have been ill - hope you are all feeling better now.

Harrogatemum - one of my friends managed to keep wearing her normal trousers all through pregnancy, because of where her bump was sitting. Is your bump spread out rather than sticking out, because this would maybe make you feel quite small for your dates. I had an extra mw appointment to reassure myself about a couple of things earlier in pregnancy, so if you are concerned I'd make an appointment. They won't mind. It doesn't take much of their time.

We had a nice week in Edinburgh, but have decided that it will be the last long trip we make as I'm not very comfy travelling anymore. I seem to get kicked in the ribs a lot and can't find a good sitting position in the car.

Charlee · 07/08/2006 11:49

Morning all, i hope your all ok, im having a horrible pain in my side when walking like a stitch but worse so im staying in and kind of resting today, well as much as i can with DS here hes got a streaming cold so hes a bit grumpy.
The babys bumping about well today so thats a good sign.

Glad you had a nice week Hopingcat.

Talking of birthday partys DP's 21st is coming up at the und of September and im arranging a bbq and DS's is 3 days before that so were going to the Zoo, im going to be huge by then!!! Also FIL wants us to go to Portugal before the babys born with him and his family were opting out though as again im huge and its extreamly hot over there, plus DP doesnt fly so well!

saralou100 · 07/08/2006 13:28

hi guys!!! feeling much better today, everything is staying down but i'm taking it easy with food as it doesn't feel quite right in their!

mummytotoby - if i was you i'd still organise a party but make it a quieter affair with close friends and family that way i could have more control over the situation, but definitely get someone else to do the hard work like food etc... you can't not celebrate turning 30!!!

hiya topsy!!!

Having looked through the messages of the last few days there seem to be a few nasty birth stories on here! I also heard today that one of the girls at dh's work had a baby about 10 days ago and she had a bad experience too. She was induced, not much happened, then she had some sort of fit and the doctor's decided to operate immediately. She was stable enough to have a local rather than general anaesthetic but because the doctors wanted to try and find out what caused her fit and wanted to observe her closely she didn't get to see much of her baby for the first 7 hours of his life. Thankfully mum and baby Charlie are fine now and have come home.

I've got 3 friends due to give birth within the next month, so I hope their birth's are nice and normal. If they aren't I'll be a nervous wreck by November!

podglet · 07/08/2006 13:57

Charlee - I have had exactly the same pain as you. Don't know what causes it but is like a stitch pain but much lower. DP thinks it might be muscular but it really takes my breath away. Forgot to ask the midwife about it on Friday - D'oh! Doesn't happen very often though, only when I try and walk to fast to keep up with DP!

Hi again - still not much better - doc has signed me off until Wednesday (He wanted to sign me off for the week - but as I'm off anyhow next week for hols - I thought I'd try and see if I can reduce the work load a little.). In middle of move and I'm about as much use as a limp lettuce - Poor DP is having to do it all. His family are helping but not unil 6pm tomorrow. ALthough his sister was a real star at the weekend.

Anyhow - feeling queasy again and have the mother of all headaches - so see ya later.

Right does anyone know what round ligaments and stretching feel like? can it feel like stitch as im been feeling pretty uncomfortable since sat and mw said this is PROBABLY what it is

NatalieJane · 07/08/2006 19:34

Hiya girls,

Hope you all had good weekends, sorry, but there is way too much to catch up on, it was DH's birthday on Saturday so we had a few days of outings and everything else! And now I am decorating the hall - of all the things we have left to organise and I go and start the mother of all decorating jobs!!

I have done lots of shopping, and I think apart from the buggy and car seat, we have everything now, a few more bits that are just for decorative purposes (photo frames for example) but other than that, I think we are more or less there, but we are still waiting for our plasterer to do his thing, so we can't start decorating the nursery yet, or get everything out of my dining room!

I think that is all of my news, hope everyone is doing OK, TC xxx

I've had some pains that feel like a stitch, usually under my bump to one side but not always. I've assumed this is things stretching. It's worse if I walk too fast or walk for any length of time, but sometimes I can feel it when I'm just sitting. It's not affecting how much LO kicks me, so I've assumed everything is ok. I've got mw appointment later today and might remember to ask about it, but I've not got the best memory at the moment!

DebbsyandBibby · 08/08/2006 08:57

All the best with the wedding planning. I loved planning mine, which was last year. I can't imagine planning a wedding while pregnant, it's just so much to think about and my pregnant brain couldn't cope with that. I hope you feel ok on your hen night and of course at the wedding itself. It sounds like you could be exhausted by the time you get there. Take it easy whenever you can.

saralou100 · 08/08/2006 12:35

morning gals!!!

i get a stitch when i walk too fast (trying to keeep up with dp's long legs) so i don't walk fast now and i'm not getting the pain! a couple of weeks ago i had the most awful pain on my left side, brought me out in a sweat, felt faint, had everyone clucking over me at work.... turned out to be trapped wind a bit of peppermint water and a good fart later i was fine! baby also keeps stretching out in the most awkward of positions, yesterday using a kidney as a punch bag (ouch) so many reasons for pains when your pg, i don't feel comfortable in my own skin half the time!!!!

stacey, when is the wedding - very exciting!!! i can't wait to plan my own (i will do it before they go to school - i will) i've been engaged for 4years nearly, i never really planned on a long engagement

anyone have any ideas what i can do for dp's birthday on friday? my brain isn't working and i've run out of ideas i try to do something different every year which i what is giving me a headache... i'm not even getting very far with his present cause his mate is dragging his feet, so i don't even have anything to give him (although i will, and he is aware of this) help me!!!! ds is going to make him a card later (see how that one goes) he's not helping by saying he doesn't care it's just another day blah blah.... maybe i'll do that and that can be his suprise - nothing!!!

Good luck for the wedding.

mgp/debsy - don't remember any real aches with dd1 - but now I'm almost limping my right hip is so stiff - and I'm getting over panicking every time I get a sharp or mild streching pain in my bump. I blame Dd1. In my first pregnancy, i was sacred vessel lounging on the sofa. Now you can't help but do a fair amount of lifting toddler from awakward positions, not to mention 11 hours a day on your feet.

Found my first strech marks this morning - so obviously things are under tension! Off to Boots to buy the most magic anti-strechmark cream I can find. Any suggestions? I walked around the last pregnancy stinking of cocoa butter - it turns my stomach now - so not that one.

saralou100 · 08/08/2006 17:05

i love lists too, most satisfying part is ticking them off!!!

did a bbq last year, swore i'm never doing it again... dp won't bbq so i have to get a guest to do it, our first year together i did him a bbq on the beach it was very romantic, but no hope of romance any more with ds and lo on the way!! (i now want bbq food all this mentioning it) i hate bowling, dp hates swimming, so thats out....

have spent the afternoon making him a birthday card with ds... bath water was a lovely colour just now... don't know who got more of the paint on them - me, ds or the card (or the bathroom)
