Hi all i hav not slept well for the past few nights and have actually woke up haveing to run to the toilet to be sick 3 out of the last five noghts - spoke to midwife this morning and she says it sounds like the lo is lying funny but not to worry!!!!! Why is it whenever we phone they say not to worry - oh well .
Stacey have the nerves kicked in yet? Is there anyway you could post a picture for us from you wedding day - i am sure i am not the only one who wants to see you

speak soon eeyoreuk

Charleesunnysunsun · 22/08/2006 13:36

Lol at this rate i can see several zombie's walking around with all the lack of sleep!

I just got a regular email from a baby site that gives updates on my pregnancy apparently i have 90 days left until my due date and now is the time my stomach and boob's will get 4x bigger! Argh i don;t think thats possible especailly with the boobs!

fatbetty · 22/08/2006 14:37

Have to say that LazyTown has helped with my kids brushing their teeth. I now just tell them to brush them like Sportacus and they start brushing away rather than chewing on the toothbrushes like they normally do.

I'm sure the pushups will start soon. DS2 who is 2 loves LazyTown!

Charleesunnysunsun · 22/08/2006 14:39

I CANNOT stand Lazytown the girl with the pink hair makes me go grrrrrrr!
I also hate the Tweenies and thankfully have managed to avoid DS (2) watching them, he does however love Big Cook Little Cook which i can just about stand, also loves dancing to Boogie Beebies!

HopingCat · 22/08/2006 15:00

I have no idea what Lazytown is! But I'm sure I will in the next few years.

I don't want to jinx anything but so far I've managed to keep sleeping at night reasonably well. I do get up a couple of times for a wee, but I can always drop off again afterwards. I'm obviously one of the very lucky ones.

NJ - I didn't get your second email. The first one was really really helpful and I've been sending it on to my other friend (who is 38 wks and still hasn't packed her bag yet!)

Debz99 · 22/08/2006 15:30

Ladies can I ask those SPD sufferers and others (if its nothing to do with SPD) I'm going for a wee and as soon as I stand up again even after 5 mins it feels like i'm bursting for the loo ! (Was not sure if this was related to my pelvis collapsing..... ok a bit over the top but you know what I mean cos it bloody feels like it !!) So off I trot back to the loo and pee a thimble full, I have been peeing lesser amounts all pregnancy but this is just ridiculous. Recently have had wee checked by Midwife so assume an infection is out of the question any ideas?

NatalieJane · 22/08/2006 16:05

Sorry HC, DH has spent £££££££'s installing new AV software, and although we are now protected up to high heaven, things just aren't quite working properly, some websites have become impossible to load and emails are being returned for no apparent reason GRRR!! Why couldn't he just leave it alone?!!!! In answer to the nighty .v. PJ's thing then, I would say maybe take one of each, I only took PJ's last time (I am not a nighty sort of girl ) and was fine, but thinking about wearing PJ's with a CS scar makes my eyes water... I suppose it is always best to be prepared?! Just watch out for any unwanted flashing of visitors with a nighty on, it is very hard to get off a hospital bed looking lady like with your nighty caught up in the covers etc.!! I think all hospital bags are always full of stuff that you never actually need/use, but at least if you take it, you won't have to ask DP/H to get it, which can be a disaster - take it from someone who knows!!!

Lazytown hasn't done very much on the eating fruit side of things TBH, and for some (probably strange) reason my DS thouroughly enjoys brushing his teeth, but the performances we get from him are worth putting up with Robbie Rotten and gang 100 times!! (And I love Tweenies, DS has decided they are too babyish for him now, and Bob is on his way out as well, good job I have another on the way to make sure Tweenies and Bob stay around for a little bit longer, don't think I could put up with 'adult' day time telly!)

Debz, I know exactly what you mean, it may be worth getting your wee checked again as it is very common to get infections whilst pregnant, but I think a lot of it is down to the baby pressing on your bladder making it smaller, it is a PITA but at least as soon as the baby is born is one of the discomforts that will dissapear straight away!!

saralou100 · 22/08/2006 17:35

hi guys.... ... can totally sympathise with those not sleeping, i've been having some awful nights, although last night wasn't too bad only 2 trips to the toilet and dp let me have a lie in today, which was nice, got up at 9am!!

debz my bladder has exactly the same problem, and it was the same when i was pg with ds.. it's just the pressure of the baby on your bladder, they are next door neighbours after all!! i did find it got worse and worse throughout pg last time (sorry) but found that altering my position on the toilet seat helped, such as standing up and sitting down again or leaning forwards and then back again helped to empty my bladder in one go rather than 20 goes!!

someone was saying about anaemia and breathlessness... it's true, but not the only reason to be breathless in pg... anaemia is reduced red blood cells in your system, red blood cells carry oxygen around your body... less red blood cells means less oxygen going around, which means you have to work harder to get the oxygen round, so you get breathless... other reaons can be extra weight to carry, less room for lungs to expand, your heart has to work harder to cope with extra blood needed so on and so on......

hate all kids tv.. i'm a mean mummy!! but ds thankgod isn't interested yet anyway.. he might watch 5 mins of the hoobs but thats it, he's like me and loves music!! dp is trying to train him to switch the football on without success!! lol

i'm starting to get the hump with people thinking they can comment on my bump.. apparently it's very very small... interfering old biddy even asked if everything wwas ok with baby!! arghhh i had to put up with this through last pg and ds was fine thanx very much and so far so good with this one... feel like commenting back on the size of person, tell them their fat anyway or something extremely rude like that... trouble is it's mostly comments from patients at work, who didn't bloody know me before i was pg and i'm not allowed to be rude aaaarrrrgggghhhh any clever comments would be appreciated

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 22/08/2006 17:59

I have the other end of the spectrum to deal with, I am huge and get the comments about how big I am, I think all comments about size when you are pregnant are very frustrating, hurtfull and down right rude sometimes, either the bump is too small, big, high, low, round, all over, how many times do you hear people say 'that bump of yours is just the right size'?!! Never!! A couple of weeks ago, Me and DS were waiting at the bus stop, and a woman asked when I was due, I said not till November, and she looked down at my DS and said 'how much fatter do you think mummy will be by then eh?' Bless him, he turned round and said 'Mummy isn't fat she is growing my brother, silly billy!' I couldn't help a bit of a grin creep across my face!

I would say just deal with the comments best you can and swear never to comment on another pregnant woman's size in the future!! Not much help I know, sorry!

Delia · 22/08/2006 20:10

Hi, Saralou, know the feeling I keep getting told my bump is small too, even though to me I look huge! I told my friend it was neat, tidy and practical just like me and for a change she was a little speachless . the main problem is i still get people unsure on whether I am pregnant or have a wierd fat stomach thing going on, this can be embarassing when they start staring as they attempt to work it out, am sticking to slightly tighter/tailored fitting tops that accentuate my bump so there are no mistakes.

Charleesunnysunsun · 22/08/2006 20:11

The lady in our local shop asked me if i was pregnant today, i have known her for years and apparently she's wondered for weeks but hasn't said incase i had just put on loads of wieght!

podglet · 22/08/2006 20:37

Hi, DP has decided that I am aneamic and tonight has fed me steak, spinach & a small can of Macesons (stout) to boost my iron levels. He is using his great medical knowledge (he is an accountant ) and thinks he is qualified to decide this??? His test was to pull down my eye lids to check the veins on the inside....?

Thanks for the advice on the breathlessness Sarahlou. Have repeated it to DP who is now in a slight sulk

How did you get on at the midwife Charlee? Did she suggest anything?

Charleesunnysunsun · 22/08/2006 20:40

Im not seeing the midwife until tomorrow, (sorry did i put the wrong day?) I will let you know what she says but i can garuntee it wont be alot she's pretty usless at times.

Thanks for asking though.

My DP doesn;t diagnose he panicks about every little symptom bless him, since a nurse told him in hospital that i was incredably close to dying when pg with ds he freaks out about everything.

Mummy2Toby · 22/08/2006 22:29

Hi all - I know what you mean about comments on bump size, everybody is saying how small I am (am just right for dates according to my tape measure!) - I am sure it is all going on my bum this time It seems massive to me

staceym11 · 22/08/2006 22:43

no nerves here yet, dont know if il get any as dont have the huge expectations of the day some people do, just cant wait!!! of course il try and get a pic on for you all! im huge btw (mum describes me as pregnant hippopotomus!) and the wedding dress (being fitted around boobs then going out) makes me look bigger because my bump is so high!

as for stretch marks (from last week) i have now got my first new ones, but seeing as the ones from dd went up at least 1 1/2 inches over my belly button anyway and all the way round to my hips i didnt think id get many. but it has definately proved my theory that this bump is higher coz the only ones iv got are above all my others! at this rate il have them right up to my boobs!!!

my heartburn is getting worse but im trying to ignor it coz i hate all the medicine stuff you can get, drinking tepid water helps.

I know its a bit personal but is anyone elses boobs leaking?? mine have been doing this for about 6 weeks and im not sure if thats normal. they didnt at all with dd until after she was born so im finding it a bit odd. its not enough to put pads in yet but dont think it will be long.

right must go have got to calm down before bed! nun night!

Hattie05 · 22/08/2006 22:55

Hi all,

Yes last night for the first time i had a wet patch on my top - perfectly positioned for boob leakage. I tried to remember if i'd dribbled my drink but nope fairly sure it was boob leakage! . I seem to remember this is more likely to happen in subsequent pg's.

I have the weeing prob too everyone! Just basically feel like i need a wee permanently.

I don't have probs sleeping once i'm asleep, but i am already suffering with really bad back and hip pain. I wake in the morning feeling like i've done a major work out for some reason - never feel like i've actually been asleep!

eeyoreuk · 23/08/2006 07:08

hi all
well managed to sleep better last night
i have noticed leaks from my boobs if i knock them
as for heartburn i have found Rennie Soft Chews it even says on the packet sutable for pregnancy they taste like Pacers (white and gren stripes) if anybody else can remember them.

When i had my glucose test they also teted me for anemia and said i was fine - but the past couple of days when i have walked upto the 4th floor at work it i have been out of breath so i think it is to do with the fact that lo is growing.

My bump is small and everyone keeps saying oh - thought you had longer to go - but it does seem to be sprouting now though.

catch up with you all later

eeyoreuk

HopingCat · 23/08/2006 09:07

I feel like I'm a bit behind everyone else. A couple of weeks ago you were all talking about being hormonal and tearful, and at the time I wasn't, but now I cry over something inexplicable and can't stop for ages! Does this mean that I'll be getting stretch marks this week and will get the leaky boobs and sleeping problems in a couple of weeks time? mn is now my way of predicting how I'll feel next week

Thanks for your help on the pjs v nighties in hospital question. I'm really not a nightie girl either so will wear pjs if I possibly can. I've been buying other things you suggested, like cheap flip flops for showering in and big cheap knickers instead of weird disposable ones. My bag is going to be huge!

podglet · 23/08/2006 09:18

Hi,

No boob leakage here! Am very tired of the constant comments about the size of my bump though. Yes, I know it's big, yes I am sure I still have 12 1/2 weeks to go, for heavens sake, my family doesn't have small babies and DP is 6'4" and 18 stone - I'm pretty forewarned about the size of this little one!!! Grrrr

Sorry, pretty mierable about the whole thing this morning. Another rubbish night, back pain and another ton of housework. This week off work has been really fun

Ok, think rant over now

Charlee - prob me getting days mixed up - hope you get on ok today then

Stacey - can't believe how calm you are. My colleague is gettin gmarried in Oct and it's been the wedding of the year in preparation. I admire you being so chilled out!

Right, off to take my frustration out on the kitchen floor...

Also got the leaky boobs thing, I had it from 18 weeks with DS, but it was a little later this time.

I am feeling all cross and hat and bothered this morning, I bought some baby monitors on eBay, they were described as brand new and never used (actual words used in the auction) and they arrived yesterday in an obvious used condition, so emailed the seller and she is being really nasty about it, I am only asking for my money back, feel like telling her to stick it where the sun doesn't shine, but I know I am over reacting GRRRRR! Not a happy bunny, oh and it is raining - again - think I might just go and get back into bed and write the day off!

On a brighter note, it is nearly christmas!! Is anyone else starting to slightly panick about it this year? I haven't even thought about it properly yet, and I am normally by now half way through the shopping and sorting out what we are eating and where we are going etc.! I think it is going to be a very quiet and odd christmas this year!

Kaybee7777 · 23/08/2006 11:47

Stacey, my boobs are leaking too, one more than the other one! Has been happening for a good few weeks, is very annoying!

I am having heaps of trouble with my midwife, she is just completely useless. Is it possible to change midwives? I don't really understand how everything works, I just ended up with her because she used to have a clinic at my doctors surgery and so they passed my info on to her, but i am finding it very frustrating dealing with her

MINNIE1 · 23/08/2006 12:11

LEAKING BOOBS i was shopping with DD about two wks agao and was wondering why everyone was looking at my cleavage funny! Little did i know i was leaking and leaking big time! I could'nt cover it up as i had nothing to cover it with so i had to leave the shop and drive home with a cringing face!!!
O well the joys of pregnancy!!

staceym11 · 23/08/2006 12:14

NJ havnt even thought about xmas yet, am getting the wedding out the way, then thinking about baby (havnt even thought about a hospital bag yet) then will think about xmas! its our first xmas on our own too so will be quite special.

well glad im not the only one whos boobs leak, kept thinking it was odd but obv its normal!

had mw today and baby fine, head down (as if i didnt know that) and laying on my left side (yes i know he made a big performance out of moving there last night!) heartbeat fine and she filled out my form for the sure start thing which i can send off on monday.

well am now starting to panic but more to do with my bro than the wedding, hes had real problems with his eye the last few days went to opticians today and they'v sent him to hospital!! saying he might have something called ivitus which can potentially make you lose your sight or develop glycoma if not treated. of all the time to have summit like that its now, so im jsut hoping he doesnt have to be kept in or wear and eye patch or anything. what a PITA!

must go, am using mums internet as not at home today. got so much to do in next few days but should have plenty of help, especially as dp is off work from tomo!

Kif · 23/08/2006 12:18

I'm still strech mark miserable.

Barely go tany first time round- but was much more careful about cream s and stuff.

Now got lots (DH galantly squints and claims there are none - but he lies!).

And I'm only 6 months through!!!

Woe is me.
