Happy Christmas everyone!!!

OP posts:

EnglishGirlAbroad · 28/12/2013 23:28

Congrats Nocturn and welcome!!
Regarding flying... I think it actually safe in the beginning it's just after 36/37 weeks you can't. I read somewhere that it doesn't in tease your chance if miscarriage in the first trimester...
I'm going to go buy myself a book tomorrow! Love geeking up! And want to know exactly what's happening and every given point!!

topmammy · 28/12/2013 23:30

Welcome Nocturne, and congrats! Oh my gosh appendix out on Xmas day!! You poor thing! At least now you've got some lovely news to make up for what sounds like an unpleasant experience! Smile

Nocturne123 · 28/12/2013 23:35

Aw thanks ! It was definitely unpleasant , we had dd's first christmas on the 27th ! Congrats to everyone ! Wish I'd known about these threads with dd! I was driving myself insane with all the weird symptoms !

I'm also almost certain flying is fine until the last few weeks or so !

Nocturne123 · 28/12/2013 23:38

I use too many !! ... I'm not shouting :)

topmammy · 28/12/2013 23:42

Hehe I use !! a lot too. Pregnancy is exciting though!! Which reminds me I will be teaching my little year 1 children how to use exclamation marks next term lol. But then they start using them at the nd of every sentence! Grin

Hubbythecatandme · 28/12/2013 23:42

Haha and I am a teacher too (secondary - MFL) although I run a small business selling children's educational books nowadays :)
Will need to book appointment soon too then (with GP I mean).

Hubbythecatandme · 28/12/2013 23:45

Welcome Nocturne!
Englishgirl: love finding out about pregnany the baby etc, I have the"Baby center" app (their website is great too with week by week pic of the baba) and I find it really interesting.
Love books but trying to declutter here and had to give many of my books away to charity shop :(

Nocturne123 · 28/12/2013 23:45

Aww bless them . What a lovely ( I imagine stressful ) job ! I'm still on maternity leave but I'm self employed so thankfully I won't have any issues about telling anyone . Not sure it's really sunk in yet to be honest though ..

Hubbythecatandme · 28/12/2013 23:53

I am self employed too nowadays Nocturne (and I love it!). What do you do? I have a small online business selling children's educational books. I started my lil business in 2011 and so far so good although I need to keep slowly growing and expanding :)

topmammy · 28/12/2013 23:59

hubby I feel that I am on a constant decluttering mission. As soon as I got my BFP I got the urge to throw stuff out haha! Me and DH really do just have too much unnecessary crap.

Nocturne My job can be stressful, the long hours and weekend working are the main stressors for me, but I have a fairly small class in an independent school so I feel pretty lucky really. Smile

I wish I was tired so I could go to bed. Where is this pregnancy tiredness? I'm turning into a bloomin' imsoniac lol

Hubbythecatandme · 29/12/2013 00:05

haha about insomnia!! I had a "normal" day today but the "drugged up" symptoms last week were seriously making me wonder how I was going to be able to do my work and cope with everything!
Symptoms seem to go in waves... I have had various symptoms since week 1 after conception so always sort of thought I was pregnant which is weird.
Decluttering, story of my life, I see hotel rooms and I think "I want my house to be like this!"... never is...

Nocturne123 · 29/12/2013 00:06

hubby I was training to be a solicitor and then found out it was just not for me so started a wee business selling cakes /cupcakes etc ! For all the effort (not much) I put in it was going quite well but when I go back I plan to put a lot more Into it :) I did try but dd swiftly stopped that silly idea ( I just work from home ) self employment def has it's benefits

topmammy I know I'm the same . I have had no symptoms at all but I'm not sure if that's because I've been on painkillers since Christmas Day and I haven't noticed! Thankfully none which could cause damage ( I had a panic and phoned my dad who is a doctor ) but I'm going to stop taking any now and man up to this post op nonsense :)

Hubbythecatandme · 29/12/2013 00:11

I think symptoms vary a lot. We have friends who had no idea they were pregnant for a long time because they had no symptoms, others who were since everyday from very early on...
Not sure why...
Did you used to have pre-menstrual symptoms?
I always did, was never able to go on the pill because it gave me daily migraines, which came back after conception for 3 days!! Always had sore boobs, mood swings etc before my periods was due...

Nocturne123 · 29/12/2013 00:19

Well one of the things I did notice was I didn't breakout as badly as I usually do but my symptom spotting was definitely side tracked! I also have arthritis which weirdly went away completely during my first pregnancy so I'm hoping for another pain free 9 months :)

Other months symptom spotting drove me crazy. I wish I had a bit more will power to get off google! That's terrible about the migraines :( they're dreadful things! I also had mood swings as well which went a bit crazy on the pill so I haven't taken it for years !

The pill for men out anytime soon? Grin

Hubbythecatandme · 29/12/2013 00:28

Haha yes male pill is needed asap!
Cake making business sounds fun :)
Which part of the country are you from? We are in North East England.

topmammy · 29/12/2013 00:30

I used to get very painful period cramps when I was in my late teens. Then I went on the pill and that stopped. Was on the pill for a few years but stopped about a year ago as it was a bit too effective (made me so not in the mood for sex at all!) But my painful cramps never returned which was great.

My mum said that with me she started to feel sick as a dog at around 6 weeks and I'm only about 4 so there's still time yet for symptoms Hmm

Hubbythecatandme · 29/12/2013 00:42

I am dreading morning sickness... :S !!!

Hubbythecatandme · 29/12/2013 00:43

The only pill I could be on was the mini pill, didn't cause migraine unlike the other types but no sex drive at all either, I hated it!!!

EnglishGirlAbroad · 29/12/2013 07:39

Eurghh seem to have developed pregnancy insomnia!!right now I would love some of that tiredness to kick in!

DearDinah · 29/12/2013 07:44

I keep waking up super early, not sure if it's excitement to retest, wonder how long it will be till I'm reassured I'm definitely preggo! Feeling a bit sicky this morning.

EnglishGirlAbroad · 29/12/2013 07:57

I think that's actually my problem Dinah, I keep waking up super early!
I'm fighting the urge to keep testing (even though i've done 2 frer and 2 cb digi), I feel like I need to check it still there! But I think that will also drive me insane. Just need to accept it's real and hope everything is going to go well.

bugoven · 29/12/2013 08:06

Morning everyone!
For everyone that teaches or works in a school, I do too, I think it's amazing that of all the.months I could have been upduffed, this guarantees me a six week break right at the end of pregnancy without eating into maternity allowance. Only problem for me is my temporary contract - two colleagues expecting September 2013 did not have their contracts renewed this year.and I feel I may meet the same fate. Not that it's an issue really, I have wanted this little one for so long nothing else seems to matter.

English I was suffering from insomnia a few days ago but not the tiredness has kicked in it's not so bad. Still waking a lot but mainly to pee and not on a stick! It's so hard. Watching the little pink lines come up is like the most amazing magic trick Grin

isitme1 · 29/12/2013 08:25

Symptoms seem to have subsided a little

Is this everyone's 1st?? Its me third Blush
(Sorry if anyone has mentioned it cant remember)

This was a real surprise for us here.
X

BexBoo12 · 29/12/2013 09:59

Morning everyone!! I'm gonna be honest, my memory was shocking before, so god help me when baby brain sets in...so I remember things were said, but not by who?! So please bare with me...

School maternity leave...do we have to return in September for a week?? When a colleague of mine was expecting 2 years ago (she was due end of sept) she had to return to work for a week after summer, else her maternity leave would kick in before summer hols. HmmHope it's changed now. A September baby could not be more perfect for us.

I'm officially 'late' today so weirdly, that seems to have reassured me. I have not tested today, and I have purposely not brought any to Scotland with me. However I will test on Thursday morning when I'm home Wink and I will also use my remaining digi next weekend in the hope that I will see 2-3 Envy

Insomnia, oh my god what is that about?? I tossed and turned for hours last night, I'm usually a really good sleeper too Sad xx

topmammy · 29/12/2013 10:13

isitme yes this is my first baby (eek!)

Bex im going to state that I want my maternity leave to start on my due date (3rd sept at present) thus maximising time off with baby and still get a full wage payment in august. bug is right its perfect timing Smile

I managed to get to sleep sometime after 1 am but then I lie in and waste half the day! Wont get to do this though with a child though so may as well make the most of it now haha
