My verrrrrry faint line earlier gives me an edd of 27 august so I'm going to straddle the two threads providing I get a strong bfp tomorrow (which I should do!!)

Happy Christmas everyone!!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BexBoo12 · 28/12/2013 20:19

Yes I am majorly freaked Kirby do' sand don't's. I'm a big bath freak, and I don't even put cold water in so I'm sad I can't have my lovely hot baths. What temp is safe? I will have to get some of that bubble bath you mentioned. I'm terrified because I had a red hot bath with lots of normal bubbles the night before I got my bfp!! Petrified it's done something to my previous cargo!!!

I have been on the loo a good few times a day!! My dp says it's my body making way for the baby Blush I had to explain that that was highly unlikely as this point with the baby being the size of a poppy seed bless ha ha x

topmammy · 28/12/2013 20:48

BexBoo Funny you should mention that, my loo habits have changed a bit, definitely seem a bit more regular! How strange.

My mum tells me that pregnancy hormones cause soft tissues to relax a bit including your ahem, muscles responsible for the bottom department, which can then cause constipation. So that is a joy I look forward to haha.

Oh my gosh I have recently had a new bath fitted and have been really looking forward to lots of lovely hot bubble baths! Guess I'll have to stick to just warm. That special bubble bath for mums to be sounds worth a try.

I've just started reading a book called 'Bumpology' and it looks at all the things pregnant women are or aren't told to do and where the advice came from and how much risk there actually is etc. It's pretty good so far, I'd recommend it if you're getting freaked out about all the do's and don'ts Smile

hubby I want to tell everyone too! Only my mum and my DH's mum know. I thought I was going to pop with excitement during the family Christmas gatherings we've had so far and I've still got the new year one to go lol.

BexBoo12 · 28/12/2013 21:08

Hubby I forgot to add I'm using ovia pregnancy app as I used the ovia fertility one before, I quite like it I must admit x

BexBoo12 · 28/12/2013 21:10

Ooh I would like a book to read so might have a little look at that one. Thanks!! I know how you feel, I'm desperate to tell everyone I see - we checked in to our hotel earlier and I almost blurted it out to the receptionist!!!!!

Hubbythecatandme · 28/12/2013 21:15

What I read about baths: water should not be so hot that you have to go into bath little by little, has to be comfortable to go in in one go. Shouldn't make your skin look red and be sweaty. Think recommended temp is 37 and below. Will be using that ducky hubby ordered from amazon haha!
The Mum to Be Organics bubble bath thing says "Perfect for relaxing in pregnancy and easing away the day's aches and pains.
Organic lavender, rose hip and sweet orange
Retinoic acid (a derivative of vitamin E) can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars.
Safe and gentle organic ingredients
300ml Bottle". Looks unavailable on amazon at the minute but I haven't looked properly to be honest. Was trying to have a look online for more similar products. That being said maybe I will hate 37 degrees bath and stick to showers haha!
Bexboo, I too read that constipation is because body is trying to make the most of all you eat and also as your mum says that the muscles in charge of bowel movements become more lazy... think something to do with redirecting all the oxygen etc to gestation?

Hubbythecatandme · 28/12/2013 21:18

Bexboo, me too, I feel like screaming it to the world haha!!!!
I have several books on the go at the moment but Bumpology sounds good topmammy.
Ovia sounds like my pink pad thing, a lot of fun apps for mums to be out there (saying mums to be feels so weird!!!)

Hubbythecatandme · 28/12/2013 21:20

Bexboo: if that's any consolation, I was in France the week before Christmas to see my mum and dad (I am French) and I ate: unpasteurized cheese, camembert, runny eggs and... I am almost a tea totaller (just don't really like booze that much) and had a big glass of Martini Rosso... enough to make me feel tipsy... bet baby enjoyed all this :s
Think you have to try your best but look what our mums and grans did and we're fine :)

Hubbythecatandme · 28/12/2013 21:30

Ladies if you want to have a laugh, this is where hubby has been learning his nappy changing techniques today (hahaha!!!!)

EnglishGirlAbroad · 28/12/2013 21:33

I wouldn't worry about all the things you did before knowing you were pregnant. It any be helped. I know a lot of people who have got VERY drunk whilst unknowingly pregnant. And the babies have all been perfectly healthy.

Hubbythecatandme · 28/12/2013 21:38

Pfew good to know Englishgirl

BexBoo12 · 28/12/2013 21:44

'Mums to be' OMG that's us!! Still not sunk in to be honest. I'm so ridiculously excited. People are going to find out, it's written all over my face!!! Deffo going to get myself a book, thermometer and some of that bubble bath.

Will have a little look at that website later on!! X

topmammy · 28/12/2013 22:00

Haha Hubby I like the sound of that website, will be directing the hubby to that one soon!

I did catch him having a look on the mumsnet website actually when I'd left the page open and he has probably read more of my pregnancy book than me! Bless him, he's really on board and reminds me if I'm worrying about it that he's going through this with me too and I'm not alone. He's wanted to have kids for quite a while, but I'm three years younger than him (not much I know) so I wasn't quite ready. Wanted to get uni and a job out the way first!

Typical, now that I can't have a steaming hot bath (and I usually just shower) I really really fancy one!

BexBoo12 · 28/12/2013 22:06

Topmammy I don't know how I will survive- I practically live in the bath. All for a good cause hey. Can I ask, when should I make drs app? Every app I have (and I have a lot) says to make app ASAP but I've read on other threads that there's no point yet??

Hubbythecatandme · 28/12/2013 22:18

I am not too sure about doc appointment....
I love nothing more than reading in a really steaming hot bath with a mochaccino, looks like that's gone! Not sure that 37 degrees bath feels luxurious!!
I know Mums to Be hahaah how weird!!! When we got our BFP, hubby and I laughed hysterically for 15 minutes (complete nervous laughter!) then I said "Sh*t!" at least 10 times, seems to have sort of sunk in since but I think I expect it to happen next week and although wanted to buy nappies today!

topmammy · 28/12/2013 22:21

I feel a bit old fashioned with just my pregnancy book, don't have any apps!

About making a docs appt - my mum says you're first appt with a midwife, your booking appt, is usually done at 6 to 8 weeks pregnant. That's when they go through your medical history, weigh you, decide if you're likely to be a low/ high risk pregnancy etc. So I guess any time before 6 weeks is a good time to go, especially if they're busy in the clinics. And they will be getting busy soon with all the Christmas/ New year conceptions lol. Hopefully we'll just miss the busiest time of year for midwives by being due early Sept!

Hubbythecatandme · 28/12/2013 22:21

Lol to catching hubby on mumsnet website hahaah!
Mine in the middle of the supermarket announced that when you change a nappy to have to leave the nappy covering the baby's bits for a bit because the cold air often makes them have another wee! He seemed very proud of what his website had taught him hahahaah!!!

BexBoo12 · 28/12/2013 22:30

Hmm I don't know what to do then. I'm calculating my EDD as 7 September because I had 2 days of spotting on 1/2 dec - which I have counted as AF- however it may not have been really might it? I came off the pill in October and haven't had a proper AF at all. The cb digi confirms 1-2 (which would make me 4 weeks pregnant using 1 dec as AF date) but I've read the conception indicators are not as accurate as the 'pregnant/not pregnant' part. What do you think girls?

topmammy · 28/12/2013 22:49

Could your spotting have possibly been implantation bleeding? I had that for a couple of days, it was light pinkish, not like a normal period.

If I were you, I'd just ring and make an appt for early in the week after your wedding. (Or are you going straight on a honeymoon?). Then you can enjoy your wedding and relax in the knowledge that you're appt is already set up and you'll still have enough time for the midwives to book you in by 8 weeks. I rang the docs about half an hour after I got my BFP in a bit of a blind panic lol! But it worked out well as getting an appt at my docs is not quick ever.

BexBoo12 · 28/12/2013 23:01

No, no honeymoon til Easter as I'm a teacher so that's the next time I get 2 weeks off. Will it be safe to fly then though?? Just had a horrible thought??

Will ring Wednesday morning then I guess and see what they say. It will feel real for me I think once I've seen my doctor!!

I've got cramps going on - have done for a day or so - do you think that's normal?

When did they give you an appointment for?

topmammy · 28/12/2013 23:12

Oh of course forgot that you're a teacher too! What age do you teach? I'm a primary teacher.

Yeah the cramps are normal I reckon, I've had them but they seem to have stopped mostly just recently. Hope that's a good thing... argh pregnancy paranoia is annoying isn't it.

I rang docs on 20th and the earliest appt they had was 30th! Not that bad though I guess with Christmas holidays though.

topmammy · 28/12/2013 23:16

Not sure about the flying thing, ask your doc or midwife. It will probably be fine but maybe need to alter travel insurance details?

BexBoo12 · 28/12/2013 23:18

I'm primary too - reception Grin I love it!! What year do you teach? I'm sorry to repeat this, I'm on my phone and bad internet connection won't let me go back through older posts - what's your EDD again?

Nocturne123 · 28/12/2013 23:19

Hey can I join ? Just had 2 bfp 4 days after having my appendix out on christmas day ! This will be dc2 :) some exciting news after a memorable christmas . Best wishes to everyone !!

topmammy · 28/12/2013 23:26

Ooh I'm Year 1. I'm a tad worried about later on pregnancy when teaching PE and also I'm always sitting on their tiny chairs and bending down to their desks. And I don't have a TA. I know reception is equally if not more physical. Guess I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it!

My EDD is 3rd Sept but due to my strange cycle lengths I won't be surprised if it changes slightly!

BexBoo12 · 28/12/2013 23:26

Ah welcome nocturne!! X
