Foxtrot - no, unfortunately they won't be ready got Tuesday. More likely the 31st now Hmm

Auntie - start drinking water about an hour before. Two glasses should suffice.

Turns out I might have had a stomach bug rather than morning sickness as my 20 month DD started projectile puking yesterday afternoon too! She seems fine today and I'm a bit groggy but nothing like yesterday.
Hopefully DH will stay home today to help us out as the house is a state and my mum arrives tomorrow.

Maggie

pee an hour before the appointment, then drink the 1 pint of water (or juice) as quick as you can and try and drink another gradually.

otherwise you will burst, especially if app is delayed - you can't just pee a little bit out...
(well you could, but I don't recommend it!Wink )

Hey everyone!! Hope your all ok!

Great news on the scans Brighton (yay another July 1st date!!), GinIs and Foxtrot

Jaykay that is annoying, having to wait for an extra week! Do you think its delayed because of Christmas?

Auntie I didn't need a full bladder for my scan, but I guess it's different for all hospitals! Glad I didn't have to as my appointment was an hour late!!

zoe sorry about your news - take care.

plate I hope if you do need the surgery that everything goes smoothly for you (I am sure it will!).

Just popping in to say thanks to everyone that made the effort to me feel better the other day when I was struggling. This thread is good medicine Grin

I had my 12 week scan today and am glad to say that there was a lovely little bean wiggling away in there turning somersaults! Dates are spot on so far so no change yet. It really makes all the sickness etc seem worthwhile. Dh was so excited - thought he was going to burst! Smile

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I've been away for ages! We moved house about a month ago, but we've only just got the internet back up and running.

Maggie my scan is on Monday too. Am quite relieved to read it's more like 2 glasses of water before the scan, as I couldn't remember if the midwife had said two pints or two litres Blush

I'm trying to work out at the moment what food I can get away with taking to the PIL for Christmas without it seeming like I don't like their cooking (am currently only able to eat plain boring food, rather than the more fancy stuff I know they'll make). They don't know about the pregnancy yet, and DH wants to wait till his whole family are together 2 days after we get there to tell them. Maybe I'll have to survive on sneaky biscuits and snacks for those two days!

Had my booking in appointment finally today and got an impromptu tour of the delivery suite. It's a midwife led. Birthing centre and I went there with my last child but it's been renovated since and it's fab now. Normal beds not hospital ones , full of birthing balls and beanbags and a pool in each delivery suite, walls even have painted murals in cheery colours. I m actually looking forward to using it now!

Congrats to everyone whose had scans, my first scan is nt until 08 jan, seems ages away.

Hi gang, I have my scan on monday too! That's quite a few of us.

Congratulations to those who've had great news.

zoe, I'm so sorry you've been through this twice. That is absolutely shit, and you will probably need some time to recover emotionally as well as physically. Hope you're able to do that. Massive good luck for september X

turnwest, your birthing centre sounds fab. My hospital has just built a new one which has great reviews, but I'm hoping to go for a home birth again, anyone else?

Thank you. I will have to pee an hour and half before the appointment and drink on the way - parking is a nightmare at the hospital so we're getting there really early!

OK, I know I've been really lucky as apart from my bout of food poisoning I've not really been that sick. Except every frickin evening from about 9-10pm I am sooo queasy and nauseous. 11+6 today. Anyone want to cheer me up and tell me it'll stop next week? (Lie if you have to!)

(Mainly) Because DH wanted to wait for the scan before we told anyone, I also can't moan about feeling horrible except to you ladies or to DH. Must moan moar.

Morning! Enjoying the quiet as DH and DS both still asleep-we tOok DS into London to see Christmas lights last night so he was v late to bed hence lie in!

turnwest you're v lucky - there's too many high risk births in my area for them to build a nice birthing centre (due to demographics in this part of London) so they have just one pool-which I luckily got to use for DS but which I'm concerned I won't get again. So since I am (so far) low risk again and we only live 3 min drive from hospital in case of emergency-looking into homebirth this time getagold so any tips v welcome!

Id love to have a water birth. I won't be allowed though Hmm

So....I'm still having vivid dreams. Last night I had the first (that I can remember) involving a baby. No idea how it was delivered, but it 'arrived' ten days early. So work wouldn't let me start mat leave early - so I was getting really stressed juggling work and a newborn! I kept leaving it (no idea where but just hidden somewhere at home) then I was getting annoyed that when I got home, baby didn't want me to feed it.

I hope I don't get many more of these - I feel exhausted, stressed and like a terrible mother!! Shock stupid brain.

Report
liquidstate · 21/12/2013 09:25

Ooh a water birth would be amazing.

I went to the private clinic for the results of the bloods and to have my nuchal scan yesterday. I am 41 and so was expecting to be medium or high risk and therefore have to choose between harmony testing or amnio. Before taking into account the nuchal measurements my risk for downs was 1 in 56. After the measurements (Nuchal, blood flow, heart rate, nasal bone etc) I am now 1 in 1128. The doctor has recommended I do not need further testing! Apparently I have the same risk as a 15 year old, so have been very happy knowing I have the body of a teenager (without all the angst)

I so seriously wasn't expecting that. DH so happy he agreed to save the announcement till New Years day (thank heavens for skype and facetime) which is brilliant as I was dreading the Christmas day announcement as having the day at the ILs and had been hoping that further tests would take us into January.

On a day to day basis I am still heaving although not as much but very tired and have developed insomnia and currently waking up at 1am and not going back to sleep. Am dreading going back to work after Christmas as have been off all of this month.

hoping everyone is getting into the festive spirit have not sent DH out for the day so I can sit on my arse in peace watching Elf on DVD and scoffing ginger biscuits, oh no...

Night from hell. Seem to have picked up a sick bug so spent the night with my head over the loo. Couldn't even keep down water. Phoned midwife number as was worried about dehydration but she was very reassuring and said baby will just take what it needs from me so no need to worry unless it lasts more than 24hrs. Bloody hope not, this is horrible!

Irony is my MS has been starting to wane this week. Ismarah - I'm 12 1/2 weeks now and nausea's not as constant as it was. Think mine peaked about 9 or 10wks. Hope yours starts getting better soon.

Right, time to cancel that visit from SILs family. Still least it's the Strictly final tonight! Have a good one guys.

thank you for all the vitamin advise! I've been taking pregnacare 4 hours after my meal! What a plonker! Will try taking seven seeds or separate vitamins

that's rubbish about the delay jaykay I get mine on the 4th, which is more than 17 days later. They said the delay is due to Christmas. Are you finding out the sex?

Report
liquidstate · 21/12/2013 13:21

I found pregnacare made me constipated Blush so I stopped and moved on to plain Folic Acid and Vit D from Boots.

I was told yesterday by the Dr I saw that there is a few days delay on Harmony processing due to Christmas. She wouldn't have taken my blood yesterday if I did decide to go ahead as the blood would not be fresh enough for processing or something because of the holidays.

I am currently worked as I'm not very nauseous at all. Had a lovely scan at 8+2 on Monday and heard the heart beat, but since Wednesday my nausea has really improved. Other than waking in the night to wee and slight fatigue/breast tenderness if I poke them I really feel normal.
Next scan on 30th.

I was going to tell my parents over Xmas but might leave it until the next scan just in case.

Yesterday I was feeling utterly miserable and sorry for myself, but today I've been out, finished xmas shopping and treated myself to a new jumper (which I reckon will tolerate a small bump, so it's an investment in necessary maternity clothes, right?) and had a hair cut (). Feeling much happier.

Off now to see best friends and tell them our news- they'll be first to find out. Exciting!

Glad you're feeling happier today plate. Shopping sounds lovely.

Morning sickness got me good again today. No actual puking but every time I move I feel ill so I'm still in bed (10.15am here). Got so much to do! Thank goodness it's the weekend an DH can look after the toddler. And my mum will be here in a few hours (haven't seen her since may, going to burst into tears with these hormones when she arrives). I know I'm going to have to just suck it up and get out of bed at some point.

Report
NancyinCali · 21/12/2013 18:20

tallulah I think it's pretty normal to have symptom-free days. I had no nausea at all until 8+5 and now I feel horrific. I was really worried about the lack of symptoms. The fact you've seen a heartbeat is very positive. Try not to worry.
