zing for some reason I'm the same with beer - don't likeit usually but enjoyed a couple of becks blue over xmas as I was craving it. Its now passed. (Can't face a vegetable but crave a barrel of lager... is this a sign of things to come with baby?!)

I am so tired today and got a headache that paracetomal isn't helping!

dollydaydream27 · 07/01/2014 11:55

Congrats on all the scans it's so great to hear all the lovely news!
Iv really been suffering with headaches have had one everyday since Friday. Paracetamol isn't touching it so iv given up on taken anything and just trying to ride it out I also feel absolutely shattered and starving all the time . Once I get hungry I need to eat NOW it's so bad . Iv also not been to the gym since I found out I was pregnant want to take up swimming but never feel like I have the motivation or energyHmm. Am hoping this will improve over the next couple if weeks . Am 13+3 today.

justhayley · 07/01/2014 12:05

Hi all,
Feel like I havnt checked in forever.
Will have to go back & check on all the gossip. Hope your all well.

I'm feeling crap, have felt sick all day morning till night everyday for over a month now! Bought everything ginger I can find and yesterday someone told me about sickness acupressure bands so got some of those.
Havnt changed DS poo nappies for 3 weeks, I have to leave the room. DP is back to work now though so I'm dreading the first poo I have to deal with - the last one had me vomitting in the kitchen sink - which was full of washing up - nice!

Have my 12 week scan tomorrow really nervous about it, but excited , after MC in sept, then getting pregnant again the following month finding out were having twins then losing one it's been a
Roller coaster few months just desperate to see a healthy baby so I can start to relax & enjoy the pregnancy - well once I stop feeling so crap that is!

elliejjtiny · 07/01/2014 12:10

zing sounds like our house, glad I'm not the only one. The first time I put the older boys to bed after DS4 was born was about 10 days post C-section. DS1 was reading his reading book to me and DS2 and DS3 were jumping on DS2's bed. DS2 fell over, hit his head on the wall just where there was a tiny thing sticking out that we hadn't realised was there. We think it was a picture hook that had been painted over a lot of times by various previous tenants. So DH had to take him to A and E to have his head glued. 2 days later we had DS4's discharge planning meeting at the hospital and the HV loudly said "so how is DS2's laceration?" like he'd cut his head in half or something, argh.

RE birth I'm now very familiar with my local maternity unit now thanks to whoever designed it so that the postnatal ward and NICU were at opposite ends so you have to walk through/past all the other bits to get from one to the other. There is a birth centre within the maternity unit but it's in such high demand they are very picky about who goes there and you have to be very low risk. There are some mums who have been approved for homebirth but aren't low risk enough to go to the birth centre. The consultant led labour ward has 1 pool, birth balls and essential oils as well as access to epidurals, anaesthetists, dr's etc. There is also an operating theatre there as well. I'm not that bothered where I give birth but I'd really like a waterbirth with gas and air. And some really good drugs for the afterpains, which I'm dreading more than the birth!

re nicknames I've been calling this one seven of nine after the character from star trek. This is DC5 so with me and DH that makes 7. We've also had 2 miscarriages (plus one chemical pregnancy) so the of nine bit is for them and also to try and shock people when they assume we are planning 2 more!

AuntieMaggie · 07/01/2014 12:46

Ugh. Really want to go to bed but stuck in work. Have some stretching like pains in my belly too so that doesn't help - I'm assuming this is all normal. I've felt ok til now so think it just feels poo.

ismarah · 07/01/2014 13:37

My top tip for the day is this: buy cheapo multipacks of pants in primark, specifically the all-lycra ones, in your usual size. Find that the elastic is way too constrictive on beans, cut out the front half of the elastic in its entirety - the back half is enough to hold the pants in place.

Still struggling with bras though. Doesn't matter what size band I buy or how many extendabra bits I use, my ribs always hurt.

Great news on everyone's scans :-)

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 07/01/2014 13:45

we only had a nickname for DS5, he was "Zippy".
it was hard to concentrate and call him baby Isaac once he was born, we kept on calling him Zippy every now and then for weeks!Grin

The others were just "Baba" - Hungarian for baby.

DD had her first doll for Christmas, I'm training kids to call the toy Dolly, not Baby.

Having a nap.

can't believe it's 13 weeks already! Shock

ellentullo · 07/01/2014 15:54

Pregnancy symptom conundrums:
#1 Eat = heartburn, Don't eat = dizzy and sick
#2 Exercise = sore hips, Don't exercise = fat and constipated

Any more out there?

AuntieMaggie · 07/01/2014 16:05

Is it just me that now feels at a bit of an anti-climax? Having got to 14 weeks (and 2 days), got the first scan out the way and told people I'm back to feeling 'is this really happening?'

zing Isaac is a lovely name. Did you and DH always agree on names? DP says no to everything I suggest Hmm

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 07/01/2014 16:17

ellen

#5 Drink water - feel sick
#6 don't drink water - feel dehydrated and sick

#7 sleep - ha! (feel unable to get up)
#8 don't sleep - exhausted!

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 07/01/2014 16:20

Maggie

I can tell you all their names if you are interested! Smile

I normally think up names as I think about it way more and have regular discussions with my SIL2.
We don't choose anything either of us really hates, but as it is they tend to be more my choices then he agrees - simply because I'm better at choosing good names!Grin

AuntieMaggie · 07/01/2014 16:35

zing I bet they're all lovely. DP has come up with some weird rules like we can't have names ending in an 'a' cos they will obviously have a strong west country accent... I might just have to register the baby in secret and call it what I like Grin

BlueC2 · 07/01/2014 16:46

Hello all-sorry been keeping up but not posting as just too shattered and my brain seems to have wandered off somewhere Great to hear all the scan news :) Maggie I also feel a bit of an anticlimax as don't really feel I have a bump as such-just fat, people just aren't as excited about news of number 2 than they were about number 1 and I puked up my breakfast this morning-really hoping this MS goes soon-am more than bored of that and continual exhaustion from not sleeping properly!

Those suffering headaches-me too! And paracetamol makes no difference-blooming hormones!

Re names DH agreed quickly on a girls name but struggled with boys-DH vetos everything I suggest saying he knew someone etc etc. We had one option which we went with for DS and have somehow got another in case this one is a boy but I much prefer our girl's name-i know that's no way a good reason to want a girl this time though :)

elliejjtiny · 07/01/2014 17:20

Zing I just knew you'd have an Isaac Grin. DS1 has a really obscure biblical name that DH chose and with DS2 I said it was my turn and we were having something from the top 50. So DH said it was fine as long as it was biblical, didn't sound weird with DS1's name and didn't begin with a J (DS1's first initial) because it could get complicated with letters/bank accounts when they are older. So my DS2 is Isaac. Whenever someone on mumsnet has boys and likes biblical names I always think I bet they have an Isaac.

AuntieMaggie We live in Somerset and still haven't managed to produce a child with a westcountry accent yet. My accent is home counties but not as posh. DH's is southern forces. DS1's is Birmingham (I suppose that's half way between home counties and somerset!) and DS2's is like mine.

NancyinCali · 07/01/2014 17:31

Isaac was our boys name before DD was born. We won't be getting to use that then Grin. We do currently have a name we like but I think we'll end up changing our minds several times like last time. We really struggled with girls names for some reason.
Still can't believe we're having another girl. I'm already excited to get all my favourite clothes out of storage for her but it's way too early to do all that.

Maggie I don't remember this stage with DD as I was so busy planning our move to the US so it flew by. But yes I think once I've shared our news it'll definitely feel anti-climatic.

Zing my DD calls all her dolls baby too.

AuntieMaggie · 07/01/2014 17:51

Ellie I'm born and bred Bristolian but my accent isn't that strong that 'a' becomes 'ar/er' but he's still hung up about it... I just think he's southern-ist!

I'm still hoping I can talk him into Annaliese if its a girl as he definitely won't let me use my favourite Scandinavian name of Suvi!

Becky2208 · 07/01/2014 18:06

Hi all, glad to hear about all the scans going well. Haven't been able to stop crying today - I've been working at home to revise for a mock exam tomorrow, but if I can stop myself crying long enough to be able to read my notes, I can't concentrate for longer than about 20 minutes. Is this a normal pregnancy thing or am I just being a bit pathetic? I'm not normally a particularly emotional person, so I have no idea how to deal with this - does anyone have any tips? Don't think I could cope with being like this for another six months!

Luckily my tutor has been very understanding, and has said that he could post the exam to me if I don't feel well enough to do it tomorrow, but I kind of feel that if I did that I'd be giving in - I've never taken a day off work sick in my life.

Sorry for rambling on, but any advice would be much appreciated!

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 07/01/2014 18:08

well, here are all their names, feel free to copy!Grin

Joshua David
Samuel Aaron
Michael Jacob
Noah Matthew
Isaac Benjamin
Elizabeth Grace

we named the baby we lost through MC Yasmin

we'll be struggling this time as they have 18 cousins, gorgeous first names, but same surname so can't "re-use" any of them.

ellentullo · 07/01/2014 18:20

Zing - #5 shame we cant hook you up to an IV drip instead.

When it comes to sleeping, how do you get any with 6 kids even when not pregnant??

Given the headache theme going on today, symptom conundrum #9 could be take paracetamol = headache, don't take paracetamol = headache

Plateofcrumbs · 07/01/2014 18:29

Those are all lovely names Zing. I kind of like wild and wacky names too but I love a good, solid name like those.

I'm currently rewatching the West Wing and have decided this is a rich source of names (boy's names particularly) - there's quite a lot of overlap with your boys' names - Josh(ua), Sam(uel), Toby, Charlie, Leo, Will(iam).

BlueC2 · 07/01/2014 18:46

plate we are due a rewatch of west wing-such a brilliant series! Did you watch Newsroom as well? Looking forward already to series 3 in the autumn.

On an entirely different note I thought maybe I was going to avoid the sore boobs thing this time as I'm still breastfeeding DS1 but it seems to have started in the last few days-along with a growth spurt! Need to fish out my sizeable collection of bras from last time and hope I follow a similar growth pattern as spent a small fortune on bras last time! Oh and went from a 32 to a 36 band size!

AuntieMaggie · 07/01/2014 19:16

Lovely names zing most of which are already in use by relatives unfortunately :)

Plateofcrumbs · 07/01/2014 19:33

Blue I haven't seen newsroom yet (are there any good names in it? Grin )

Had a hellish day in office (had to upset, anger and generally piss off half my team in attempt to turn a project around) - what I really really want - NEED - right now is to get home and pour a massive G&T.

oo00PIXIE00oo · 07/01/2014 19:35

Hi ladies can I join? I'm a avid reader and post occasionally. After having 3 mc's in 18 months I'm am now 12+2 and have had a reassurance scan and a healthy hb at 8+2 though still waiting for my 12w scan and booking in appointment!! Thought they would be constantly in contact with me but they don't seem to mind my advancing years Blush 43+5! Baby is due July 21st

AuntieMaggie · 07/01/2014 19:49

plate I know what you mean... major restructuring and potential to lose my job wasn't enough to start the year with now its political pressure too... sigh... picked the wrong time to not be able to drink...

For the past few evenings I've had a variation on toast for dinner as I can't face a meal and my stomach feels too full - if its like that now wtf will it be like further down the road?

Welcome Pixie :)
