evening all!

Scan went well, baby was waving hello!Grin
I cried with relief when sonographer said there was a heartbeat and I'm so happy that all seems well!Smile

my phone then ran out of battery, I would have posted earlier!

coco

for first baby the average is sometime between 18-22 weeks, but more likely after 20 weeks, best not to expect it before that!
if baby's back is in the front and s/he's kicking towards your spine you won't feel anything so don't freak out if you feel no movements!

funkmonkey
so sorry to hear Thanks

NancyinCali · 03/01/2014 22:11

Yay zing wonderful news!

I'm excited/nervous for our next scan on Monday which will be equivalent to the UK 12 week scan although I'm only 11 weeks tomorrow.

AuntieMaggie · 03/01/2014 22:23

So pleased it went well zing I knew you were worried :)

MrsB2013 · 03/01/2014 22:37

Glad your scan went well Zing

icklekid I'm a teacher too - due 26th, and last day of term is 11th. I'm considering trying to work until then to make the most of my mat leave, I'd then be able to have a year off and go back for a week just before the summer holidays the year after. Alternately I could finish on 4th July, starting my mat leave that weekend, and still only have to go back for a week, but I'd have a few more weeks unpaid. My friend has laughed at me and told me I'll be knackered by 34 weeks and to go then, but I want as much time at home with the baby as possible.

zing congratulations, glad your scan went well.

Right now I am suffering (or DH is) digestive problems. I'm so full of gas coming out both ends, and have the horrible watery mouth back as well. Ugh. Off to bed soon.

ImMarmite · 03/01/2014 23:29

I'm due 31st July...feel to far out for August tread but maybe not far enough in for this 1....

ellentullo · 04/01/2014 00:32

I was planning to wait until dating scan next week to join - after 2 mmc in the last year I didn't want to count my chickens. However, after being up for the last hour with heartburn and vomiting, why the hell not? Hopefully can confirm date soon

BlueC2 · 04/01/2014 04:15

Great news zing :) wonder how our other scan buddy got on blueberry?

Just finished a nice bowl of cocopops at 4am-obviously Hmm but stood up too quickly so started retching again :( desperate to go back to bed but just sitting quietly! Now they've moved my dates forward (guess I must've ovulated early?!) I'm 13+1 so surely this sickness/nausea should subside soon?

I really dislike Moses baskets as they do feel v flimsy but since we were given one for DS I wasn't about to fork out for a crib. We had a foldable flexibath which was great as we lived in a flat with dodgy hot water supply and little storage space so was excellent and DS1 loved the cosyness of it. Then got a plastic moulded seat thing to use in the big bath when he was too big for it. Worst purchase was probably hand breast pump-shouldve been brave and spent the money on an electric one to start with as the hand one was next to useless for me as DS1 had such a strong suck the pump couldn't replicate so I'd struggle to get anything out! We've also never used our baby monitor (though I got it half price so am not too worried and we may use it this time).

Right let's try standing up again and getting back to bed-sleeo beckons! Night all!

jaykay987 · 04/01/2014 05:34

Hmmm...coco pops. I'm still obsessed. Do you think I'll ever get my appetite back? I could care less about food at all except coco pops I'm 14+3 now, is this a first trimester thing that is hanging around, or will I be like this for the next six months?

My belly has exploded. I will have to tell work on Monday - there is no way I will hide this under cardigans and scarfs much longer! It is far too early to show this much - But google tells me it might be because I am so short?

Congrats to the scans, and welcome to the newbies.

marmite I'm straddling the June and July buses as I was due 27th June. Now moved to 2nd July. So join august and us, and both conversations with feel relevant sometimes!

icklekid · 04/01/2014 06:09

talulahbelle its just hard to make a plan without knowing how exhausted I will be-having said that summer 2 is normally my favourite term as long as it's not too hot hopefully can keep going. Are uou thinking of going back full or part time? So many decisions!

Marmite I was due 29th june but felt July fitted much better and post scan I am now due July. I think I preferred to feel like I was keeping up not lagging behind. Two threads was too much for me to keep up with!

So pleased all went well zing fingers crossed for you ellentullo

Pearlsaplenty · 04/01/2014 06:15

Hi everyone! :) Have not had a chance to check in for such a long time.

12 week scan feels like was forever ago. Got the results back and I think it was something like 1:4000. So that was good. Nice to see baby too, much nicer than the early scans when I couldn't see much at all Confused

We went away over Christmas and that coincided with all sickness/nausea/diarrhoea disappearing so that was a nice present :) probably the best present!

I feel great now, except my bump has exploded somewhat and it looks as if my belly button might soon be ready to pop Blush a bit early for that I would have thought Confused

Even though we have a ds 2.5 I don't have much baby things as we moved several times so sold most of it except for buggy and some clothes, so I will be also looking into shopping over the next few months. Hopefully will try and get some second hand and then go shopping for the rest around May/June.

Pearlsaplenty · 04/01/2014 06:24

Also talulah I have started getting quite shaky/faint when I've overdone it/not eaten for a while. I was the same when pregnant with ds, always tried to have juice or chocolate with me and this helped. Probably would be best to eat more regularly and take it easy and prevent getting like this but I forget to, so I find some sugar helps me feel better quickly.

Plateofcrumbs · 04/01/2014 08:29

Hi imMarmite - I'm towards the tail end of July and as it's my first it's quite nice to have other people a few weeks ahead so I know what's potentially in store.

And yes do join us moaning about feeling rubbish ellentullo

I had dream last night that I'd had the baby, and it was lovely and I felt all content and motherly. I did accidentally set fire to its hair though Hmm

BlueC2 · 04/01/2014 08:33

jaykay and pearls I also have a small bump which is waay earlier than with DS! Fished out all my maternity clothes yesterday and put some mat leggings on - oh the bliss of not having a waistband cutting me in half! I am going to have to get a few more bits though as I managed with predominantly work stuff with a few casual bits last time but now I work from home so mainly need casual stuff!

On a different note I am SO tired-DH got horrendous cough. Been sleeping on sofa so not to wake us but last night gave bed a try again and not only kept me up from 3.30-5am but also woke DS up! DH back on sofa but I just want him better (and selfishly) for a bit of TLC and extra rest for me from sorting them both out

liquidstate · 04/01/2014 09:11

Plate that is hilarious! I expect I will set fire to my babies hair. Am a bit dippy though Grin

Congrats on all the scans and bumps. My bump is obvious to me and DH but hopefully not so obvious to everyone else for a while.

I have joined my local facebook selling page and have bought a few bits although if you do this its worth checking the current retail price. Some items were listed as say £10 but you can buy new for £5 Hmm.

I am so off food at the moment. I really don't want to eat but am hungry. Any ideas???

MrsA2 · 04/01/2014 09:41

I have a pretty noticeable bump now too - there are still a few people we are yet to tell so I have very limited choice of outfits if I need to hide the bump, it really is quite obvious.

Before this the one part of me I quite liked was my flat stomach (I have a massive bum to make up for this!) so I think it's particularly obvious to friends now. I can't fit my normal jeans but do have a pair in a larger size that I bought the day I found out I was pregnant that are still ok.

Ordered a few maternity bits last weekend and the dress from Debenhams (Red Herring) turned up today but is vast, tent-like. I really hope it is too big and I won't become that massive! It's the back that is really big, not just at the front which I would expect. Got some maternity trousers for work in the Next sale, I ordered my normal size and they fit pretty well.

Great news on the scans yesterday.

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 04/01/2014 09:47

congrats to all others whose scans went well - such a relief, isn't it?

jay

as the uterus (and baby) grows it pushes all the other organs upwards, sideways and if you are shorter you will show earlier as ther isn't too much space for things to go.

one of my SIL's is almost 6' tall, she never really showed until past 5 months, despite being slimConfused
(she had 4, with the first one at 7 months she looked like my bump tends to look at 4.5 months!)

Plateofcrumbs · 04/01/2014 10:08

I'm one of those annoying 6fters like your SIL Zing although I already feel like I've got a little pot belly. I doubt it would generally be noticable to anyone but the most acutely observant at the moment but add in a full tummy, full bladder and a bit of bloat and I occasionally look impressively rounded. I will have to make some careful wardrobe choices for the office over the next few weeks.

ImMarmite · 04/01/2014 11:07

I had to pop into primark yesterday & noticed maternity clothes!! Don't normally shop for my stuff there but was excited to see there maternity range!!

jaykay987 · 04/01/2014 11:12

ahh plate you have a whole foot on me! Mine literally juts out from under my boobs right down to my belly button - so it's organs not baby. Below my belly button is less hard as baby is hidden by carb fat

ooh....primary maternity? I hadnt even thought of looking in there....

ellentullo · 04/01/2014 11:23

Current plans if dating scan ok this week - hope not too unrealistic

  1. Swap running for yoga (possibly pilates?) and explain to running club why recently AWOL
  2. Learn the ukelele
  3. Do a home trial of rennies vs gaviscon vs tums for heartburn
  4. Get back normal bowel movements
  5. Start pelvic floor stuff
firstbaby01 · 04/01/2014 11:55

Hi Everyone, im 12+2 weeks and due on the 17th. Had my first scan on 17th Dec thinking i was 12 weeks but found out i was 9+5 so get to have another scan on Wednesday yayyy Smile still really nervous about it tho

Becky2208 · 04/01/2014 12:24

Is anyone else's brain addled? I have an exam in work next week, but can't concentrate on anything! Is this one of the delights of pregnancy, or is it just me?

NerdyBird · 04/01/2014 13:36

Hello,

Am cautiously joining this thread as I had my dating scan yesterday and got EDD of 18 July. This is my second pregnancy but the first sadly ended in MMC so I have been very nervous about this one!

I was hoping to get by a bit longer without needing to buy maternity clothes but over the last week a definite tummy has emerged so I will need to buy a few things. It feels very strange to me to be open about being pregnant as I've had to hide it for so long, and have struggled to feel positive about it after last time.

Plateofcrumbs · 04/01/2014 13:40

Love your list ellentullo (you don't see enough lists which mention ukuleles AND bowel movements! Grin )

I'm still running (slowly) - not club standard though! If you want to give Pilates a go the 10 minute prenatal Pilates DVD which is £10 on Amazon is all on YouTube, I've done it a couple of times now. Glad I started now as some of it is hard enough with heaving a bump around - but I have terrible core strength and flexibility. There's 5 x 10 minute sessions and you can run through the whole lot or just do 1 at a time.
