Forgot to mention that my other brother and his wife gave us their maxi cosi car seat they had bought in the UK a couple years ago. I love having things ticked off the list! We have gotten a few stares on the flight from toronto to New York and on the train, as people seem to wonder where the baby is!

I can understand wanting presents for yourself instead of bump, but because all my siblings have children now we decided to only exchange gifts for kids. Of course, that means we end up buying loads for them all, and would have otherwise had nothing in return as this is our first. I doubt the bump will get anything from H's family, we're exchanging gifts at New Years...

summerbaby2014 · 28/12/2013 21:23

Have a nice flight wispa

Redcliff · 28/12/2013 22:20

Ness - laughed at your rude DNs - each time before a birthday or Christmas I have to drill my DS in what to say if he gets a present he doesn't like - his helpful suggestions are "can I have a different one" or "no thank you" are gently rebuffed and he is reminded that "thank you" is the only suitable response. Really impressed with those getting presents for the baby and love the baby carriers from rosé and rebellion - this is such a great thread for showing me stuff I have never heard off.

MarlenaGru · 28/12/2013 22:25

wispa I can just imagine the funny looks! Have a good flight. I hope it goes quickly.

summer I try! I learnt when pregnant with DD and have been using YouTube to expand my repertoire further than plain things! I knitted a jumper with hello Kitty on for DD which is a bit huge but am still quite proud of and about half way through a funny cardigan for DD with a sausage do go it! It is quite good fun. Hand knitted baby clothes are very special! I loved DD's from grannies, aunties etc

ItsaWonderfulLifeofGru · 28/12/2013 23:10

I love to knit for DDs too Marlena
Having babies is definitely an incentive to pick up some needles. There are some lovely scarves and cardigans I see that are acrylic and I think to myself, 'I should knit that in lovely wool'.

BEEwitched · 28/12/2013 23:55

Sadly, while I am very crafty in lots of ways, my knitting skills are a family joke. Sad I used to be not too bad at crocheting, though, so I'm hoping to pick that hobby back up.

I found a lovely knitted baby blanket from Tuppence and Crumble and tbh you'd struggle to buy the wool for the money they're asking for their knitted blankies so I'll go with that option.

SarahSPT · 29/12/2013 06:10

Hi everyone, congratulations on all your pregnancies and lovely sounding Christmas presents!

I found this forum the other day so thought I'd say hi. I'm due with my first on 6th June although still hasn't sunk in properly yet!

I'm travelling around SE Asia at the mo with my boyf, we're nearly halfway through a 10 week trip - unexpected news just before we left and certainly scuppered my plans for drinking my way round Thailand, haha.

Hope pregnancies are all going well. I'm away for my 20 week scan although going to try and get one in Vietnam. Will be around the 18th week though so hoping it's not too early for all the measurements Smile

chestnutmare · 29/12/2013 09:22

Hi SarahSPT hope your trip is going well!

cjbk1 · 29/12/2013 09:30

I 'wondered where the baby was' when we flew to Toronto; this family had an empty pushchair, turns out they were bringing a Yorkshire terrier who sat on the floor by their seats only barked 1-2 barks in 8hrs Ava loved it kept saying 'cat' tho Smile

wispaxmas · 29/12/2013 09:41

CJ, haha!

Sarah, what an epic trip, I'm sure the lack of booze can't hurt things that much Grin

aclxxx · 29/12/2013 09:55

Hello all June 2014 mums. I am due 3 June with dc2. Dc1 will be 8 when LO arrives.
Happy new year everyone x

hackneybird · 29/12/2013 09:59

Welcome sarah, and what an amazing trip! Have to say I am impressed you still went, plenty of people would pull out.

Pleased everyone is well and has come out of 'the other side' intact! We area till at in laws until Tuesday as we have to stay to celebrate a big birthday. But am really looking forward to getting back. ILs are lovely but they are driving us mad and I suspect we them.

Haven't been feeling too bad, been getting very tired but have had lots of lie ins as husband has been getting up with our son. Lovely.

hackneybird · 29/12/2013 09:59

And welcome to you too acixx.

MarlenaGru · 29/12/2013 10:22

sarah welcome. Wow a SE Asia tour while early pregnant doesn't sound like something for the faint-hearted! Hope you are enjoying it.

acixx welcome too!

cj lol to the cat! My DD has always been terrified of an ex-neighbour's little scrap of a dog even though our cats are much bigger. Always makes me giggle.

hackney lie-ins sound excellent. DD has been up at 5:45 every day this week except Friday. DH doesn't do mornings so invariably she is either in bed with us keeping me awake (he can sleep through a bomb) or I get up with her. Starting to wear a little thin now. I don't mind getting up as I am a morning person but would love it if I got an afternoon nap in return... He has finally got up and is taking her for a walk as we didn't leave the house yesterday so I think she needs some air. And I need some peace!

mylittlel · 29/12/2013 11:08

Morning ladies, Im glad i didnt have any baby related xmas presents, well i was given a warm shawl to keep warm for us both and pilates for pregnant, which are slightly not my things but ive learn to say thank you and put stuff on ebay))

as for travelling, i think it depends on how prepared you are, when we found out i was pregnant we were having belated honeymoon 13 hours away, and it was the worst flight ever ive ever had and waiting for 9 hours between flights didnt help either, at home i was just lying on a sofa without any movement thats how tired i was after trip and long flights, each to their own, but good luck with your trip SarahSPT

ohcluttergotme · 29/12/2013 11:51

Welcome aclxxx.
Hope everyone else is doing well.
I've been in bed with a bug since Boxing Day, seems so unfair when not touched a drop of alcohol!
On the plus side my ds who normally wakes at 6am or before religiously every morning is sleeping until nearly 9am, coming in for a cuddle and then my dh must be feeling sorry for me as he has got up with him every morning Smile
Meant to be back to work tomorrow and will feel so guilty if I don't make it in as was off with morning sickness in October and my sickness is in the higher percentage Blush
Hope everyone else enjoying the festive season Brew

MarlenaGru · 29/12/2013 12:38

wifeof are you on ravelry? Trawling through for some inspiration...

Redcliff · 29/12/2013 15:29

Aclxxx and Sarah - good to have you on board and hope your pregnancies are going well. Just coming up to the last hour of a 4 hour drive - cant wait to be home after being up north for a few days. Need to do something active tomorrow as DS will be bouncing off the walls otherwise,

My bump is so here now - may have to spend some time getting some mat clothes as there is no way my work trousers are going to fit.

Jessiebaba · 29/12/2013 17:28

Welcome Aclxxx and Sarah!

Ohclutter I've been feeling absolutely rotten the last few days too - I thought I was supposed to be starting to feel better now! Sad Having said that, my sore throat has now almost gone and DP has just cooked the most amazing lentil soup using real chicken stock and the leftovers from our Christmas dinner. I am now absolutely stuffed and convinced this soup will be the magic cure I need before returning to work tomorrow! FX!

So jealous that you have a bump Redcliff - still no sign of mine! I am only just 14 weeks though so a bit behind the rest of you. Can't wait to have a proper wee bump Smile

ohcluttergotme · 29/12/2013 17:40

Aw Jessie, sorry you've been feeling rubbish too. Homemade lentil soup sounds lush, wish my dh would make me some, the best I could hope for would be some from Heinz!
I definitely have something, if not a bump then fat! I'm 16 weeks and this is my third so think my tummy muscles are a little lax Sad

GillyBillyWilly · 29/12/2013 19:07

Dropped off the thread as I haven't posted for so long!
Will try and do some catching up at some point.
Hope everyone is well and had a great Christmas! Smile

To be fair I have also stuffed my face for the last couple of days so sure that's helped as well !

Went maternity clothes shopping today and was quite disappointed. Nowhere really had anything at all. H&M was ok for tops but nowhere had bottoms I wanted. I'm a size 16 and reasonably short and apparently all pregnant women are extremely tall and thin! Am thinking I'm just going to stick with skirts with stretchy waistbands and dresses in a size bigger and hope I don't get too big!

Biffle · 29/12/2013 20:53

Had the exact same problem Clever.
