Ohclutter, try some fresh thyme tea. Just pour boiled water over a few sprigs and leave to steep for a few minutes. Really helps. Feel better soon!

ohcluttergotme · 28/12/2013 00:08

Thanks misshoola , will get some tomorrow, feel I'm getting worse as the week goes on Hmm
Great news MissSummer Smile

misshoohaa · 28/12/2013 08:45

Ohclutter, it really helps a sore throat. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm currently testing our a natural remedy for thrush - not fun! Hmm

Jessiebaba · 28/12/2013 09:15

Morning everyone & Merry Christmas!

Ohclutter I've had a really sore throat since the start of the week and have been surviving on cups of hot water with honey & lemon Sad Thankfully it seems to be getting better now so hopefully yours will pass quickly to.

superlambanana · 28/12/2013 09:45

Does anyone know if omeprazole is safe in pregnancy? I also have a sore throat but as it's worse in the morning it feels very much like my acid reflux is back and this is the only thing that stops it Sad

We may have been a little hasty but we bought a pram yesterday...! Had £100 off and we can cancel it and get a refund if we change our minds but at least it's one thing off the list!

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 28/12/2013 10:30

super We're looking at prams today, but I don't really want to buy before my 20 week scan. Love the Baby Jogger City but would also like a 'proper' pram system and have fallen in love with the Orbit Baby - found a great deal online so I'll have to have a think.

Luckily, the local independent baby store seems to have all brands I'm interested in, so I'm looking forward to that. I left DH in front of the telly last night with the laptop and instructions to do some research himself as I've done everything so far!

misshoohaa · 28/12/2013 10:49

Inthebeewitched - highly recommend the bjcm! If u get the bassinet it is more than sufficient as a proper system, the adapters that come with the bassinet fit your maxi cosi and its so easy, we are still using ours 2.5 yrs on, and it has suited every occasion. Lots of friends had bugaboo, quinny systems then swapped to a pushchair where as we have had the bjcm the whole time.

I unclipped the pushchair part from the frame for the first 6 months so we had a really lovely looking pram with either the bassinet on or the car seat and it worked a treat, then just popped the buggy bit back on when DS was ready to go into the buggy.

Such a light buggy, easy to fold and travel with. Customer service is fab too and they send out a replacement part no questions asked the following day when we had a minor problem.

I clearly think everyone should have a baby jogger - I swear I don't work for them GrinGrin

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 28/12/2013 10:56

misshoohaa The only thing I'm not so sure about is that I believe it doesn't have a parent facing option, and I think I would really miss that! I think I'll definitely get one down the line, though, I need something that fits in a small boot, can be easily taken on planes but is sturdy enough to do beach walks and the BCJM seems to fit the bill.

summerbaby2014 · 28/12/2013 11:00

Is anybody else looking forward to getting back to normal after Christmas? Getting a bit tired of relatives now. My sister and her family arrived last night.

Currently hiding in the bedroom :(

Jessiebaba · 28/12/2013 11:21

Super Bee we went to look at prams yesterday and I've managed to find the one I want on a good deal so I think we're just going to buy it. I'm also a bit apprehensive about buying it so soon but I don't want to miss out on this offer Hmm

Super I like the idea of being able to 'tick' the pram off the list too Smile

hackneybird · 28/12/2013 11:48

Bee I shouldn't worry about a parent facing option so much. Believe me, babies do not miss out on face to face time with parents if prams don't have this option - I spent HOURS with DS on my lap when he was small, just gazing in wonder.

Whenever we were out and about he just fell asleep in his pushchair anyway.

Bumblebeesmum · 28/12/2013 12:01

The parent facing option depends how much you think you'll use your pram I think. I walked for hours & hours for 1st 6 months & can't imagine not having been able to chat away to him with him cooing & smiling every time I did. But I live a 30 min walk from town so it really depends - also if you plan on using a sling at all.

Does anyone know whether a 2yr old (he'll have just turned) might cope without a pram & just buggy board? He can walk to town & back sometimes now at 18 months - it's more whether sometimes I'd be grateful for ability to pin him down? Has anyone else just had single pram with newborn & toddler?

cjbk1 · 28/12/2013 14:04

Dc1 was 22m when dc2 was born he struggled to walk long distances esp after a tiring morning at nursery or whatever he'd want it climb in tho I found tandem pushchair heavy it was mean forcing him to walk just for myself and i didn't put a buggy board on the single so I can't say but he did find it hard to stand and hold onto moving playground equipment even at an older age so it'd probably be the same

SleepyNess · 28/12/2013 14:14

Hey ho!!!

Back home, still in bed, loving the peace and quiet!!

Christmas was shattering.. 3 kids, all under 4, what a nightmare when surrounded by never ending supply of expensive toys!! Seriously, constantly fighting and whining, aargh... I know all patents-to-be think that but me and DH decided we'll be so much more strict in our parenting style because those kids have no boundaries and no manners, if they don't like your present, they tell you so and patents just laugh!! Shock

MarlenaGru · 28/12/2013 15:19

bumble would you sling the baby and let DS go in the pushchair? This seems to be what a lot of my friends do with 2-3 year olds and new babies, but then in London double buggies seem to be impossible.

summer I am enjoying a day on the sofa being totally selfish after a house full of guests who left last night(including marching around bluewater yesterday) with DD getting to play with her toys and DH building her Lego! Hope they leave soon for you! I find everything exhausting at the moment.

sleepy differing parenting styles are very different to live with. DBil and Dsil have very different parenting style to us and as much as I hate telling other people's kids off I have now decided when DN is destroying something of DD's I say something or when he is running through our kitchen when ovens are on and people are trying to cook I tell him not to. DD is no angel but I discipline her and try and ensure if she becomes tired and miserable we go home. And rudeness is not tolerated.

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 28/12/2013 16:45

Finally back home - we didn't even make it to the pram shop, Ikea took ages and I was completely knackered afterwards; we found two bits of furniture in the Bargain Corner, but then they didn't have any tools to take apart the big desk we wanted and wouldn't deliver it with the legs attached.

I sat on a bench in Ikea for 1 1/2 hours while they and my DH tried to sort it, in the end he had to go to B&Q and buy a suitable Allen key.

Another short trip to B&Q to get some paint and wallpaper and we were out and about for almost 5 hours and I am shattered and DH has a monster headache.

Bumblebeesmum · 28/12/2013 19:34

Cjbk I think you're prob right sadly

Marlena - really struggled with sling any more than v short time last time as it killed my back - but I might give it another shot

MarlenaGru · 28/12/2013 19:38

Try one with hip support bumble I had a rose and rebellion which I could carry DD in until she was 4 quite easily. I had a fancy baby bjorn with back support and I couldn't use that past six months for more than 5 minutes. My friend is going to give me her stretchy one to borrow (yay!) and I am quite excited.

Bumblebeesmum · 28/12/2013 20:03

Marlena is rose & rebellion the make? Thanks I will do some research :)

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 28/12/2013 20:06

Marlena, those Rose & Rebellion carriers are gorgeous, I love my Ergo but these are really funky!

wispaxmas · 28/12/2013 20:52

I'm on my way to the airport to head back to the UK now! Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas. Did anyone else's bump get presents? My mom got us a quintessentially Canadian Cardigan for next winter, my sister bought us a video baby monitor and a pram toy, and my brother got us an adorable hat with mouse ears! I wasn't expecting anything, so it was a fabulous surprise.

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 28/12/2013 20:56

I got all the presents that were baby-related, twas a bit irritating tbh as DH is 50% responsible for this bump! Xmas Grin

I got a gro egg and a lamaze toy, MiL wanted to buy a baby monitor, too, but I kicked that off my wishlist when I decided I wanted presents for myself this Christmas, not the hitchhiker!

MarlenaGru · 28/12/2013 21:03

BEE and bee they are amazing. Mine was beautiful blue with tiny pink roses and is black on other side so not too girly. I sold mine for about what I paid for it too (after I thought we would have no more babies!) I think you can get a newborn insert but I only got mine when DD was about 18
Months as I had no idea you could get anything but baby bjorns back then!

MarlenaGru · 28/12/2013 21:05

wispa I didn't get anything although did get a lot of body butter! I may have bought a few cute hats in the online sales and two Xmas jumpers one in DD's size and one in baby's size for next year Xmas Grin

My DM has knitted a blanket for the baby too. And I am
Trying to finish all DD's projects I started so I can do some baby knitting.

summerbaby2014 · 28/12/2013 21:23

Marlena- you knit!? Impressive.

For Xmas I had a collection of beautiful, hand knitted baby cardigans and boots (white) from my mum. I've put in some more orders :)
