Oops baby brain, I have copied the wrong list!! Sorry :/

Good job you pointed that out chestnut as I remember typing your details earlier.

Give me 10 mins and the correct list will be up!

chestnutmare · 12/12/2013 19:51

Thanks Vickyvix! Thanks

Redcliff · 12/12/2013 19:51

Bee - so happy that you husband got the job . Was laughing at the guy who was so sure he was getting it.

Am loving all this pram talk and the links. I might have to visit John Lewis for a session.

Bumblebeesmum · 12/12/2013 19:58

Good point about time off for antenatal classes - I reckon if you're not doing the equivalent ones from NHS then I can't see why you shouldn't be allowed the paid time off

And yes the information etc you can get for free but it's basically an easy ready made social / support system. You can get all info for free & you can go to groups etc but it can take a while to really get to know people & mostly once baby isn't quite such a newborn (although there are coffee mornings etc that include bumps) - NCT is essentially & easy ready made group for you. Worth it if you have the cash.

Vickyvix · 12/12/2013 19:59

Right - apologies for the confusion! I don't know how I managed to copy the wrong list.

This list should now be the right one, with updated EDDs from 12 week scans, new ladies added, changes from last thread and changes from last few hours added too.

Hello ladies, I am new here and would like to join. I am expecting DC2 and due May 28th. Can I join this late in the game?

I also recommend NCT classes only for finding friends. I hung out with my NCT friends all throughout the mat leave and they are still great friends. Other than that, you don't learn a thing that actually helps. Honestly, the rest is pretty useless.

Bumblebeesmum · 12/12/2013 20:02

Thanks Redcliff - I'll be honest, I had 0 expectation of my husband getting it & so did he! We're chuffed (even if he does have a house full of text books & is quite scared!)

ohcluttergotme · 12/12/2013 20:02

Aw Jessiebaba that's really nice. My Mum's Birthday is on 17th May and I've always that that was alovely time for a Birthday.

Beewitched We do live near the beach but nice prom to walk along so don't really do much off the beaten track walking. My ds was born in October 09 and we were hit with awful cold snap and bad snow and I remember thinking how cozy he was in the Silver Cross then it went into nice pushchair.

Sorry to those still struggling with MS hope we all get into the glow of 2nd trimester soon.

Vicky would you be able to add me as 17th June please, thank you Flowers

Aw you've dpne it, thanks Vicky
Well done to your husband Bumblebeesmum

I didn't attend NCT last time and wondering is it just for first timers? Feeling tempted to join up this time for the social side of it but this is my third pregnancy Confused

ItsaWonderfulLifeofGru · 12/12/2013 20:13

Testing Christmas name change and marking place. The lack of apostrophe is going to bug me!

seatfor5 · 12/12/2013 20:18

Bee thats fab news about your DH will take some pressure off of you :)

Emmazers · 12/12/2013 20:21

Lovely, lovely scan today! So emotional as I think I'd half convinced myself I'd had a missed miscarriage after the bleeding a few weeks ago. DD was charming and made everyone (ok mainly me) explode in giggles by saying the baby was a monkey.

Bloods less pleasant. The woman swore blind my vein actually jumped out of the way when it saw her coming.

They wouldn't say but it really looks like a boy. DD's scan was quite different looking down there!

cj I've never had a problem going to the loo while babywearing. I used mainly ergos in which the legs are splayed to the sides (to proper support hips and spine) so it never got in the way. You could also pop them down on a changing table though?

Jessiebaba · 12/12/2013 20:27

So happy for you Emmazers! Xmas Grin

misshoohaa · 12/12/2013 20:28

Congrats Emma! Great news.

I'm not on the list but ill update post scan next Wednesday, my date my change!

I had the baby Bjorn and then the ergo. The ergo was good but I have to say I found it hard to put on when DS was a past 6 months as I needed go go gadget arms to get the back clip. I'm not sure whether ill get the infant insert or stick with the baby Bjorn.

Views on the ergo from birth would be good as I didn't get it till about 4 months with DS.

InTheBEEwitchedWinter · 12/12/2013 20:33

Emma, great news on the scan, and I feel you on the blood taking front - I still have a scar on my arm from my bloods 2 weeks ago!

Miss, I think the Baby Bjorn isn't supposed to be that good for baby's hips, maybe have a look at the insert instead.

Vickyvix · 12/12/2013 20:42

Woo hoo great news emmazers must have been lovely to see your little monkey :)

With you on the bloods too, I have a huge bruise from the one I had on Tuesday

bellygazing · 12/12/2013 20:46

Hi guys, good news on all the positive scans! I told my boss on Monday and she was really sweet - she said she knew when she hired me this was likely to happen soon because of the age of my but it was worth it nonetheless. Which is flattering. Unfortunately the third member of my team handed in her notice 2 days later so I feel like we're all deserting her... I've told most of my friends now too. And I found out on Monday one of my close friends is also pregnant, due in May, which is exciting.

Emmazers · 12/12/2013 20:55

Thanks everyone Smile

I agree with BEE. Baby Bjorns (and other similar style and forward facing in general) not recommended by baby wearing consultants (or the International Hip Dysplasia Institute) because they aren't properly supportive of hips or spine. Also the baby doesn't get the tummy time effect of developing their core strength which you do in a proper carrier. I suffered from hip dysplasia as a baby (having been carried in a BB) and it still bothers me today. There are some very non hippy, smart looking (black!) ergonomic carriers around now too. The Manduca comes highly recommended by many folk.

Bumblebeesmum · 12/12/2013 20:59

Clutter there are separate NCT courses run for non 1st timers - think they call it refresher & it includes things like how to introduce to your sibling / how to prepare for next birth based on positive or negative experience of 1st etc. I'm considering doing one but it's a much shorter course so I'm not convinced it will be as good socially.

MrsCharlieD · 12/12/2013 21:09

Hello ladies so much to read today! Hope anyone having scans had good results!

Im missing off the list Sad Im due 7th June.

When do you get offered antenatal classes on the nhs? Is it the mw who tells you about it? X

SleepyNess · 12/12/2013 21:11

Emma, woohoo!! Congrats! My DH asked the sonographer if she was sure it wasn't a monkey baby as his wife had been eating so many bananas recently :)))

MrsCharlieD · 12/12/2013 21:12

Great news on your scan Emma. Lovely news x

ohcluttergotme · 12/12/2013 21:25

Sounds like a lovely experience at your scan Emmazers.
Thanks Bumblebeesmum, think will have a look on their website and see what it's saying. Would be interesting to hear advice for those not having firsts and just to meet up with other mums. Although think at my ds's nursery we could start our own group as there are 6 of us due and we're all due round about the same time Smile

SarahAnderson · 12/12/2013 21:28

It's a bit much to ask, I think, to expect women to take time off before the baby as well as after. Fine if you don't much like your job, I suppose, but it's quite an assumption that ALL women will be happy to skip work.
