Hello all,
Congratulations on lovely scans! As others have said, hope all OK panic
Congratulations on your husband's appointment bee. That must be a huge relief.
Agree regarding the NHS classes for factual information on methods of delivery and touring the labour suite. Kirstie Allsopp is very vocal and antiNCT due to their failure to mention alternatives to natural labour. I think she ended up with CS with both her children.
Our local hospitals offer a specific course for parents of multiples riblet which might be worth enquiring about in your area. With my first there was also a great 6 week postnatal exercise class run by a physio. Was very good and ideal opportunity to say to a few mums about grabbing a coffee afterwards.
Regarding maternity leave I worked very late on with my first. The most exhausting aspect was getting out of bed and dressed in the mornings. Being able to sleep until you awaken late in pregnancy is blissful.
Second time around I finished at 36 weeks and baby was 11 days overdue so I had nearly 6 weeks off beforehand. Was too long. So am aiming for something in between the two this time. Probably work til 37 weeks.
Having a first baby is wonderful, but there are lots of times of loneliness. I had a winter baby and found 4pm til 6pm when my DH would get home very hard. It was dark and rainy and lonely. June babies will be great as you can just go out for a wander in the evening. Conversely when second came along the day flies by in the blink of an eye and 4-6 pm is the busiest time of our day!!!!
Regarding prams we bought a bugaboo cameleon in 2007 for DD1 and used it again with new fabric covers for DD2. They are great travel systems and spare parts are easy to find. We have also had a babyjogger city mini since 2008 which is only now showing its age. Great buggy for folding quickly, airport navigating, travel etc.
Have bought a baby jogger city select in black with black frame with the second seat as I like to walk a lot and although DD2 will be 2.9 in June it's a mile to the school. Also, there are points on our route where it will be easier to pop DD2 in the buggy as the traffic is busy. I like the fact that it is 'in line' so doorways shouldn't be too tricky, plus either child can face either way. Storage basket underneath is huge. Also, I can remove the second seat when DD2 no longer requires it and it functions as a single.
I will still use my bugaboo pram when out with the baby alone.
That's my tuppence worth anyway. I have heard great things about uppababy vista. Didn't exist in 2007...lol.
