Dusty Hope everything's ok with you and that baby is just having a lazy day! I've tried relaxing, having an ice cold glass of apple juice and some chocolate and being a bit more active by taking a wander into town but I'm still not getting any big movements. A few little squirms and wriggles but nothing compared to his usual martial arts routine so I might ring the hospital when DP gets home from work...

BohemianRaspberry · 12/12/2013 17:17

mumma they told my friend that hers would be 10lb when she was induced on her due date ... he was 5lb10 - so don't give up hope!

I had my MW as well today and had the sweep - wasn't too bad, basically an extended cervical smear that needed breathing through.

Cervix is soft and thinning and am 1-2cm dilated which was nice but I have to confess I was really hoping for her to go "Gosh 6cm already!" and then say "get thee to the mlu, my child". The funniest part was after the sweep she checked his heartbeat again and as she put the doppler on, he stuck his bum out. I assume as an insult.

She did tell me I'd find labour easier on all fours due to retroverted uterus/cervix though which was interesting.

mumma my hospital will do inductions from 10 days - can you demand this?

liz I would get it checked out - I was glad I did.

Roselau · 12/12/2013 17:42

bohemian wow that's a huge difference! let's hope they're a bit off on the weight for me too as she was already apparently 8lbs on Tuesday and I'm due in 9 days but will most likely go overdue. I'm scared of having to push such a big baby out!

Dusty04 · 12/12/2013 18:03

liz it's definitely a quieter day but just back from midwife who didn't seem too concerned and heartbeat was 'perfect'. He wiggling a bit to his daddy's voice but def less then normal :)

Baby's head is down as far as it will go and new midwife wanted to book me in for a sweep on 23rd December when I'd be 39+4.. She said labour would likely start within 48 hours so persuaded her to do it on 27th when I'll be 40+1.. Just don't want an Xmas/Boxing Day baby if we can help it! She only runs clinics at my surgery on wed/thurs/fri so everyone wanted fri 27th but she said she'll come do a home visit. I'm sure if baby is still nice and warm in there I'll be fed up but just thinking about his/her future b'days! Plus I'm likely to bleed after the sweep and may need monitoring (due to cervical erosion I was admitted with 2 weeks ago) so def don't want the sweep then!

She also booked in my appointment for 41+1 on 3rd jan.. Really hope baby is here by then!

froubylou · 12/12/2013 19:25

Well I will have my baby tomorrow. V excited but also v scared too. Just hoping I'm not waiting around all day. Sister had an elcs last yr and didn't get down to theatre until 4pm. Its a long wait from 7am.

Had to stab myself with the warfin at 6pm. Not nice and I have a week of them post op. Big bruise already. Good job I'm not a nurse lol.

Baby making his presence felt today. Glad he is coming out tomorrow. Don't think there is anymore room at all. Plus with the bhs when my tummy goes hard its actually painful when he bounces about.

Good luck for anyone who is labouring away and lets hope we have some new arrivals tonight or tomorrow.

It's another cool birthday tomorrow too. 13/12/13. As long as you are not superstitious! Good job I'm not

Stom91 · 12/12/2013 20:08

Good luck frouby! So jealous. I really hope mine makes an appearance soon I've really had enough. The wilting is the worst!

Had an email back from the letting agents. All they are taking is the £100 rent we owe and £60 to have the flat clean. So I think dp angry email did some good.
So that is one less thing to worry about.

Done the Xmas food shop today. So now everything is done presents are done food done dd room all sorted. Literally just need her to be here now!!

Come on baby!!!

Alyssa1978 · 12/12/2013 20:21

Good luck for tomorrow frouby another very cool borth date. Well done on the injection....I could never do that Confused I hate needles. Try and get some rest tonight and enjoy your newborn snuggles tomorrow and enjoy your rest in the hospital afterwards xx

Mogz · 13/12/2013 06:42

Best of luck today Frouby, hope they get you in to theatre nice and early.
Sending happy vibes for a good induction Dasie.
Hope everyone's doing well. Genevieve and I are powering on through the sore nipple stage of breastfeeding by working on her latch (and my patience!) and taking it a day at a time.

itsliz · 13/12/2013 06:56

Wishing you all the very best of luck, frouby and Dasie!

Just a quick update - Came down to the hospital for monitoring at 6pm last night and after 5 hours of waiting, faffing and testing they decided they were too worried about my blood pressure to let me go home.
Despite ear plugs and a couple of other home comforts that DP picked up for me, I had the worst nights sleep of my life Sad Lack of sleep and proper food has given me a splitting headache too so safe to say I'm keeping everything crossed that they'll let me go home today!

PinkWitch803 · 13/12/2013 07:03

Good luck frouby and daisie

froubylou · 13/12/2013 07:38

Ooooh am here and bricking it already lol.

It's too late to change my mind isn't it?

Foooooook.

SupermansGirl · 13/12/2013 07:48

Good luck frouby!!! You get to meet your angel soon dont be scared!

Ladies...yesterday My hands swelled up and went red and itchy has anyone else got this after birth?

SupermansGirl · 13/12/2013 07:49

Ohh sorry and daisie!!!

More babies how exciting xx

Mogz · 13/12/2013 07:58

Oh liz sleeping in hospital is an awful task. If they ask you to stay longer do push for something to help you sleep, and get your DH to bring you some nice food. I was lucky on Tuesday to have a very quiet ward to sleep on and it was pie and mash day! I have had to resort to my DH bringing me in a curry before though as one hospital I had the pleasure of staying in thought catering meant slapping a dried up cheese sarnie and limp bits of old crisps on a plate Hmm

Keep calm Frouby just think of that gorgeous baby, all the rest will fade.

MrsEllsmore · 13/12/2013 07:59

Good luck everyone labouring or having cs today. I'm another one still waiting, now 39+5 and having a sweep at mw today. Feel pretty yukky today, awful heartburn which means I've been awake ages despite being super tired, got a headache, had breakfast but didn't really fancy it, getting the odd period type cramps and generally feeling sorry for myself... Not really in the mood to be poked and prodded by the midwife.

Alyssa1978 · 13/12/2013 10:43

super my hands etc swelled after birth but not itchy and my bp was sky high, book into your gp to get checked over, it's always best to be cautious Hun.

Good luck frouby hope you meet your lo soon xx

mrs good luck at your sweep, sending you stretchy vibes Smile

Feel better soon itz xx

13loki · 13/12/2013 11:12

Good luck Frouby and Daisie. Hope you feel better soon liz.

Health visitor coming today. I am already in trouble because I didn't get Älfi weighed last Friday (we had a foot of snow and I didn't want to catch the bus with a newborn and 3yo) and noone rang me back with an appointment for Monday. FFS, she's my third. I will call if she's not feeding well.

MrsEllsmore · 13/12/2013 12:17

Thanks Alyssa, midwife said everything looked promising but of course there is no guarantees so I'll just have to wait and see.

MummaDevon · 13/12/2013 12:25

Bohemian I'm hoping that happens to me, though she seemed to think she can mostly feel baby and not much fluid...eeek! She said they only offer induction here when at least 12 days over but if I'm still going next Friday when I have a sweep, I will literally beg her to not let me go on that long!!

40 weeks today, I'm on the Raspberry leaf tea, eating pineapple and dtd this morning (not that I had any enjoyment from it!!), will walk the dog in a bit too.....come on babyyyy!
