Congratulations to loki and Daley!

Good luck Alyssa, I hope dilatey things are happening for you x

Gannetgob · 29/11/2013 09:55

Forgot to say - welcome new people!

That is great news meand! I feel stressed about money at the moment and I have a relatively good mat pay package, so imagine this has been a huge weight lifted for you! Relax now and treat yourself to a cake or something!

Sorry it turned out to be nothing in the night, mrsshrubs. Today could be the day though!

yogafan · 29/11/2013 10:04

Hi all, I haven't posted for threads and threads, but have been popping in now and then to see how everyone is getting on. Congrats on the babies so far - seems like things are really happening now! Good luck Alyssa, you deserve a nice swift labour and some lovely newborn cuddles today.

I am 39 weeks on Sunday. I'm feeling a bit nauseous today and had a vomming session just now. It's not a 'things warming up' sign is it? Just bad luck, a bug or a bit of late preg morning sickness perhaps.

I am impatiently waiting for my Mat Allowance to be recalculated - I think i'm due the full amount (which would mean food for me too - please, please, please - I really need it!) but the initial calculation came back at £30 a week. I have called countless times and written in, and called HMRC to check I should be due the full amount, but have yet to have official confirmation so I can relax (and eat...)

Good luck everyone managing these last few weeks, and congrats and continuing good luck for those who've crossed the finish line and now have babies to look after!

Chelsealady · 29/11/2013 10:11

Better, Dusty and Liz im also only 35+4 boooo looks like a Jan baby to me! Really didnt want to be pregnant over Xmas :(

WhisperMen · 29/11/2013 10:46

I leave you guys alone for one evening and there are more babies born or on their way? Congratulations to all the new arrivals and anyone who is in the throes of labour I send you contracting vibes.

Welcome to the newbies, I hope you realise this thread is cursed, even if it now does have a new title. Can we change the title to "the one where whisper definitely doesn't go into labour before her due date" because then I know it would actually happen? Grin

Alyssa1978 · 29/11/2013 11:07

update

Was still 2cm when the butch mw with man fingers decided to abuse check me so they sent me home with a huge dose of paracetamol and codeine its so taken the edge off, I'm flying lol
She says I'm 80% effaced and is convinced ill be back in before she finishes her shift at 3.30pm today. I'm contracting 3 times every 10 minutes but little boy is back to back so the wrong part of his head is pressing on my cervix Sad she says it'll be a long labour like my other 2.

Bleeding a little now after she rammed her 2 fingers in my cervix so its just a wait and see, when I asked if it was Likely to be a false labour she said she seriously doubts it, not the way I'm contracting. It's just a shame they are not doing much.

Stom91 · 29/11/2013 11:10

I hope things speed up for you soon alyssa.
You're on the home straight now.
Xx

MildredH · 29/11/2013 11:20

Oh Alyssa sorry you'd not progressed but hopefully being more relaxed at home will help things along..

Just curious about the paracetamol and codeine they give in labour- is it the 8mg/500mg dose or 30mg/500mg? The latter makes me feel off my head when I've had it for toothache so that'd be good news if we were allowed that!!

WhisperMen · 29/11/2013 11:40

I just realised there are two days left of November. It's nearly December guys.

mumoftwoboysS · 29/11/2013 11:42

Well alyssa at least you're on the home stretch! Frustrating as it might be- I always thought subsequent labours halved in length but I guess not for everyone (I'm a bit worried if mine does anyway- only gives me an hour from waters breaking to getting to hospital and having him/her!)

Keep on the exercise ball and lots of raspberry leaf tea! Thinking of you!

Many congrats loki and daley (is it just those two? Can't go back and check right now) how exciting as very jealous of newborn cuddles!

I tried to have an early night last night, even listened to my hypnotherapy cd then got restless leg and sciatica pains that made me nearly jump out of bed in pa

mumoftwoboysS · 29/11/2013 11:43

Oops-bloody phone.

In pain. Oh well at least I get a lie in tomorrow!

Alyssa1978 · 29/11/2013 11:46

Lol mum my labours get longer each time.

mildred I had 2 30mg of codeine and 2 500mg of paracetamol so its he latter higher dose Grin

I'm going to try and get some sleep as I had none at all last night and was on my ball from 2am.

Dusty04 · 29/11/2013 11:50

Hope you're doing ok alyssa

In being sent home at tea time if no more bleeding.. Uterus trace seems ok and consultant said it's just my body preparing for labour.. Not had any BH that I can feel and no other signs a labour is anywhere near starting.

Just had a medical student prod me and do a history as part if their assessment.. She was so lovely I wanted to help her with the answers! (I'm no expert but know where the baby is laying etc). Considering my day job is helping Uni students my DH thinks it's hilarious I'm on day 2 of maternity and still helping out :)

extracrunchy · 29/11/2013 12:01

Alyssa hope she's right and you're back in later today!

Bumpy that must be a massive relief Smile

Congrats Daley!

And Dusty hope all's well.

Since my maiden EPO dose I woke up about 4 with loads and loads of fluid leaking. Assuming it's the capsule contents but confused by how much can come out!? Have a pad on to see but assuming for now it's not waters Hmm

Sorelip · 29/11/2013 12:17

NomDeClavier I've read your advice on slings before and was hoping you could give me your opinion on the Caboo Close. I have fairly large boobs and sometimes get lower back pain. I gave the Moby wrap a try but couldn't figure out how to tie it and gave up pretty quickly. I have the Stokke carrier but I was hoping to get something more breastfeeding friendly. Any clarity you can give me would really help.

abcdemma · 29/11/2013 12:21

Congrats Loki and Daley again (is that everyone?) and sending dilation vibes to Alyssa Wink
Glad all seems ok dusty and anyone else I've missed...!
Been leaky and having period-type pains since yesterday morning, I guess it's the bloody show (plug coming away slowly?) but pains are confusing... either contract or don't lol! MW says I may have a UTI so could the pains be caused by that? Taking pee pot in today anyways...
Hope everyone's feeling good today Brew

kchapper5 · 29/11/2013 12:43

Congratulations loki i hope youve managed to escape the hospital by the time youve read this.
and Congrats to daley
I wish something would get a move on with me, I had a hot curry last night, mucked my horse out and was very naughty and had a quick sit on her Blush oops. I know its a bit early but I refuse to do this until January which is what i guess will happen.
Hope you can get a bit comfier at home dusty and good luck alyssa
Welcome new people whose names I cant remember :)

hotcrossbun83 · 29/11/2013 12:53

Hi everyone, I've been lurking on and off but this thread has moved way too fast for me, I'm on maternity leave now so thought it was time to try and stay with it!

I'm 37 weeks today with my first, no signs of action at all. Like many of you I'm really hoping to have a baby by Xmas, but I bet I don't.

Congrats to all that have already had their LOs, I'm very jealous. But then we haven't finished painting the nursery yet and I've only just starting washing baby clothes, so I should be grateful really.

ccsays · 29/11/2013 13:15

Checking in early on this thread as I missed most of the last one. Congrats to loki and daley! And good luck alyssa!

Loving the thread title Grin and yes whisper I know the feeling.

Feeling increasingly grumpy at all the "not long to go now, you must be so excited, eeeeeeee!" NO I'M NOT EXCITED, I'M FUCKING SHITTING IT, PISS OFF I think, loudly

Having said that I'm still jealous of all you who have them out already!

Dusty04 · 29/11/2013 13:21

So many cute teeny tiny babies in here.. I know it sounds weird but now it seems more real! :)

Can't wait to meet out little one (just not yet, cook a little longer!)

MildredH · 29/11/2013 13:36

Haha I'm so glad you say that cc- I frickin hate being asked "if I'm excited". No, not really.

I said this to a midwife friend and was trying to explain that it's kind of so much easier to imagine all the hard aspects- tiredness etc but hard to imagine the lovely feeling you'll get and she ( helpfully) said ooh- we'll have to keep an eye on your mood when this baby arrives. Wtf!? Urgh. Go away.

meandbumpy · 29/11/2013 13:46

Thanks everyone! It is such a relief and a really good feeling that something has finally worked out for us money wise.
Hi yogafan hope you get your allowance sorted out soon too. Do you have the direct number for MAT claims? If not it's 0845 6088610. The people there are much more friendly and helpful and actually seem to know what they're talking about. They can trace your claim too and help speed things along.

Keep going Alyssa and Dusty you can do it!

Welcome hotcross, you're in the right place, we're all getting very impatient around here! Lol Grin

Glad I'm not the only one that's ridiculously tired. Doesn't seem to make a difference if I get sleep or not now. Dp's mum took me food shopping this morning and I was shaking with tiredness by the time we got home; what the flip is that all about? Feel like an old woman! Grin

ccsays · 29/11/2013 13:53

Urgh at your midwife Mildred. Clearly you're not allowed to be tired/fed up/in any way have ambiguous feelings about having a baby. Sometimes 'you must be so excited!' feels like a weird baby conspiracy command, rather than a passing comment.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 29/11/2013 13:59

Oh this is where everyone is!

I still feel awful, the contractions are still coming irregularly and not getting stronger, but I'm exhausted and Very Grumpy.
I want to go and see a MW to see if I'm dilating or anything but I can't unless DP can make it home early...which is unlikely... Gah!

On a positive note,FIL and L (his wife) are having the DC OVERNIGHT on Saturday! Woooo hoooooo! I plan to sleep...A Lot.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 29/11/2013 14:13

Oh great.
DP,is,in fact, going to be home LATE rather than early. So I won't get to see a MW until Monday.
