mumma I was hoping for 11/12/13 too but nothing today apart from the pressure and aching. Maybe I get a 13/12/13??? hopeful

May be a case of holding the MW down tomorrow and saying "get it out get it out get it out".

violetbean · 11/12/2013 16:52

Hey all,
Being monitored again, had a walk with DH round the hospital earlier, then bounced on the ball for an hour and then had a much-needed nap. Not sure what to expect for this evening but fingers crossed things will ramp up a bit! Thinking of you all.

Snozwanger · 11/12/2013 16:52

Oh I hope what you've said about the full moon is true Roselau.

I'm due next Wednesday and just been to see the midwife. Baby is nowhere near engaged Sad. Off to sob into my recently purchased bag of jelly babies.....

itsliz · 11/12/2013 17:14

I was hoping for an 11/12/13 baby as well but no such luck! I really need little one to avoid 14th (when we're going out for a meal for my birthday) the 16th (my birthday) and Christmas... So sod's law means he'll probably decide to make an appearance on one of those dates!

frouby As far as I know, current advice is just to wipe them down with warm water and cotton wool until their cord has come off then baths with plain warm water for a few weeks after that.
At one of my antenatal classes we were told that you can use bath soaks etc earlier if you want to, but apparently there's not much point as they don't get dirty enough to need it and it strips them of their natural protective coating... (And there was me thinking I didn't remember anything from those classes Grin )
We've got a box of Johnson's Baby bath soaks, shampoos, soaps, lotions etc ready and waiting, as they're gentle enough to use right from the start. They all smell of newborn babies to me and I can't stop sniffing them!

Superman Just had a look at the pic and little Delilah is absolutely gorgeous, you must be so proud! Sounds like you had everyone's idea of a perfect birth too! Please send speedy labour vibes to your fellow due date buddies as me and kchapper5 are still waiting patiently Grin

violet Thinking of you! Fingers crossed things get going soon.

Feeling quite positive about labour today as I had a great yoga class last night and my TENS machine arrived in the post this morning.

DP has also agreed to help me look into and maybe pay for some follow on yoga/ baby massage classes in the new year which would be great, and I've received an email that's going round to everyone from my BF workshop about meet ups, classes and baby cafes so I'm feeling more optimistic and a lot less like I'm going to be completely on my own when baby gets here!

lisbapalea · 11/12/2013 18:11

Ah my plans to spend my last couple of pre-baby / child free days just lounging around have been scuppered! Got the call from dd's preschool at lunchtime and had to pick her up as she's not well (constant coughing and a high temp). Managed to get a dr's appointment and she now has anti-b's so hopefully shecan shift it before the baby arrives!

It does mean my plan of sleeping in front of TV this afternoon went out the window, and I don't think tomorrow is going to be as full of admin / cooking / cleaning / shopping as I had hoped!

extracrunchy · 11/12/2013 18:31

Oh no lisba that's a shame. Hope DD is on the mend soon.

Violet you're being very patient! Hopefully LO will arrive before midnight and you'll have an 11/12/13 baby Smile

Hope everyone else is bearing up!

lisbapalea · 11/12/2013 18:43

Thanks crunchy! I realised my previous post didn't sound very sympathetic towards my daughter - oops! She's doing OK, nothing a bit of cbeebies won't fix!

Good luck Violet and to anyone else with an 11/12/13-er on the way!

extracrunchy · 11/12/2013 18:50

Hah don't worry - I'm too grumpy to be particularly sympathetic towards DS today. He knocked the Christmas tree over TWICE. He's totally fine, I told DH whose immediate reaction was "oh no did DS hurt himself??" I just got cross! Oops... To be fair he was clearly fine!

extracrunchy · 11/12/2013 19:01

Shit I'm a terrible mum..!

lisbapalea · 11/12/2013 19:08

No you're not! I would be exactly the same - in fact I need to brace myself for DD's Christmas tree enthusiasm as we're putting ours upon Saturday, urgh!!

violetbean · 11/12/2013 20:07

Ouch! Just had pessary taken out and gel put in. Cervix apparently isn't playing ball. Sad Looks like this baby won't be an 11/12/13 one...

I am now in a lot of pain, mostly my fanjo stinging from the exam but also constant tight pain across bump. Have to be on the monitor for an hour so can't do a lot of the active birth moves but am trying to focus on the ones I can do.

Had gas and air when MW was examining me and inserting the gel, weirdest feeling ever! Like I was removed from my body for a few minutes.

I now just want to run out of the hospital and hide in a cave somewhere. Baby can stay in there forever, right? Confused

extracrunchy · 11/12/2013 20:11

Oh Violet you poor thing! Try to stay calm and remember the end in sight. It can't go on for much longer and the pay off will be well worth it. Thinking of joy!

extracrunchy · 11/12/2013 20:16

Thinking of YOU obviously!

NomDeClavier · 11/12/2013 20:36

Fingers crossed for you violet. Will they let you sit up at least for the monitoring bit?

mumoftwoboysS · 11/12/2013 20:57

Hope things speed up for you soon violet!!

I'm feeling SO restless tonight. I WANT THIS BABY OUT!!!! DH is in London (1 1/2 hours away) on a work do so it wouldn't be ideal (esp as my previous labour was so quick!) but I'm just so fed up! 11 days to go- what are the chances baby will be that early?

Getting stronger BH -the period pains a lot worse but with both previous pregnancies my waters broke first so I'm not paying too much attention to these- I'm sure they're just practice contractions.

38 wk appointment with Doc was pretty rubbish- why do they insist we see the doc at one of the most important appointments? I have never managed to get to either of my previous 40 week appointments so this could be my last one- and doc didn't know how engaged baby was! SHe said the mw was much better at gauging that- no shit.

Oh well- I know I'm not the only exasperated/fed up one so I'll finish ranting and go do something productive- like erm pack my hospital bag properly!

Roselau · 11/12/2013 21:46

well i just got back from yoga and have started feeling mild period pains (read: very mild, it may just be my yoga pants starting to get a bit too tight), but I realized I've never felt this happy to feel pain and don't want it to stop. and as I write this, it's all gone. boo.

violetbean · 11/12/2013 22:42

Go Rose! Hope it's the start of something Smile

My DH has had to go home (visiting hours 8am-10pm) but before he left he fitted the TENS machine to me and it's awesome! Smile Smile Smile

Alyssa1978 · 11/12/2013 23:00

Awwww violet that's a shame he couldn't stay, is that cos they don't class you as in labour yet?
Hope things start to move along soon Hun....hugs xx

mum hope this one comes early for you.
Ds1 was 37+3
Ds2 was 40+1
Ds3 was 39+5
So you never know he/she might make an earlier appearance for you xx

rose hope it's the start for you too and not just the yoga pants lol xx

violetbean · 11/12/2013 23:08

Yeah, I'm in the ante-natal ward so there are strict visiting hours. Once they transfer me to the labour ward DH will be able to stay. Hope that happens soon! Smile in denial about the fact that it could be several days yet

Come on waters, break! Hmm

mumoftwoboysS · 11/12/2013 23:22

I hope so alyssa I'm hoping that as I had 2 on time I'm more likely to have an early one like you!

Fingers crossed violet things speed up for you soon!!

Just had to get out of bed for some cereal despite having a big bowl of crumble and custard an hour ago- baby must be filling out nicely (as am I!)

ancelynthecraven · 11/12/2013 23:50

Well,ladies.
I'm being induced. Got the pessary in place and having a snack on the ward. Meeting the mini one soon. And an end to this infernal itching.
Good luck to you all.
ThanksThanks

BetterWithCheese · 12/12/2013 00:00

Good luck ancelyn, looking forward to baby news.

Hope it all gets going soon violet!

violetbean · 12/12/2013 01:21

Good luck ancelyn! Hope the pessary works well for you and that baby comes today!

I'm back on the monitor and will be examined again in half an hour. Fingers and toes all crossed I've dilated a little! Confused

violetbean · 12/12/2013 01:56

Nope, still 1cm. Sigh. Sad

Roselau · 12/12/2013 02:33

awww violet that sucks. let's hope it gets from 1cm to 10 pronto. thinking of you xx
