wm3010 · 02/12/2013 12:46

Congrats on the team blue news! Dobe I have my scan on the 20th too, will be 20+1. Hoping it will be a nice Christmas present to ourselves!

thistlelicker · 02/12/2013 12:49

Since Friday I've had the most terrible cough And lost my voice!!! I feel sick each time I cough plus I've given myself headaches

snoozysleeper · 02/12/2013 13:29

Happy for the blue news polly and impatiently

S

snoozysleeper · 02/12/2013 13:31

Someone said there was a third person who had had blue news too, I must have missed this but congrats either way!

Xavielli · 02/12/2013 13:37

Congrats Polly, little boys are very nice.... But then so are little girls Grin
My scan is on 19th at 20+5. I'm looking forward to finding out the sex but not so much to hiding it from DP

MrsFooCough · 02/12/2013 13:43

Congrats Polly and Impatient Grin Team Blue is go!

I wish desperately that I could find out the sex but a) that scan isn't even scheduled yet and b) DH doesn't want to know. Sigh so I shall be a good patient girl and wait for Bean to come out to play Smile

mumof2aimingfor4 · 02/12/2013 13:49

Congrats to the team blues! I hope I'll be joining you as I really want a blue one!

Those of you suffering with colds, grab some lemons. Boil some fresh water pour into a mug and allow to cool slighty, cut lemons in half and squeeze juice into water. One lemon will do for each drink, tastes foul but have it before you go to sleep at night and I promise you'll feel better in the morning than you do now! I swear by it, especially when lemsip is not an option.

Mum I do that but also as a squirt of honey! Rank but I still feeling poop

mumof2aimingfor4 · 02/12/2013 13:54

Oh dear, hmmm, are you getting enough rest? I remember my first pregnancy I was full of colds constantly so bloody annoying when all you want to do is feel fab with the amazing thing that your body is doing.

Thanks everyone, we're very pleased! Nhs scan isn't until 2nd Jan when I'll be about 21 weeks and I couldn't wait!

Spirael · 02/12/2013 14:03

If DD is right, we'll be having another girl. She's still adament she's getting a sister! Not finding out until the 21st though, so a little while yet. Luckily neither DH or I have any particular preference on gender, which is a nice way to be!

I seemed to have a near constant stream of colds last time I was pregnant, but have only suffered my usual seasonal cold this time around. It's one symptom I'm not missing! I guess having a toddler in the house has built up my immune system. :)

Sorry I wasn't around much over the weekend. I'm so glad everything seems to be ok LittleBairn. Hope you manage to speak with your MW and get an appointment with the consultant!

Moomin, I agree with everyone that's said to speak to the MW or a doctor. Ante/postnatal depression is very common for women in all kinds of situations, and there are various things they can do to ease or resolve it.

Irisheyessmiling · 02/12/2013 15:47

We're not finding out, nightmare for shopping but excited at the surprise at the end and lots of fun watching people speculate, us included!

Anyone got any experience with support pillows? Currently trying to weigh up widgey vs theraline. Both are the sausage shape I want, both convert to breastfeeding pillows but theraline seems to not come with a cover so have to buy separately but could be wrong? Confusing!

moobaloo · 02/12/2013 15:48

Congrats on the team Blue news!

My scan is on 6th Jan when I will be 21 weeks exactly - can't wait!! Neither DP or I mind which we get as long as healthy. People keep asking us what we want and we honestly don't mind! Most of my family think it will be a girl (lots of May babies in our family and all female!) but most of our friends think it will be a boy. There's even betting going on Xmas Hmm

Drum Roll - Big News! I HELD A BABY!!

Got handed one at a social gathering at the weekend. 8 months old. Very very cute little girl. Surprisingly heavy and warm. Held awkwardly for a couple of minutes and quickly handed her back when she hiccuped just in case she was about to start crying Xmas Hmm I must get some practise with babies as I really WANT to be able to get on with them/play with them easily but I just have this mental block and fear to get over!

moobaloo · 02/12/2013 15:49

ps. I have never held a baby before in my adult life (and don't remember as a kid) NEVER. I'm a poor excuse for a female.

hamncheese · 02/12/2013 15:54

When its hour baby it will just be natural moo you will just know how to hold them and what to do. I'd practically never held a baby before DS. He came out and it just happened :)

hamncheese · 02/12/2013 15:54

Your baby not hour baby

dobedobedo · 02/12/2013 16:36

irish I have the dream genie pillow from John Lewis. It was about £40 which I think is a bit pricey, but oh my god it's amazing. It's sausage shaped but it has another bit connected to it which you can put your head on, or put behind your back to stop you rolling over. It's the only way I can sleep on my stomach without squishing the baby. You can use it as a breastfeeding pillow once the baby comes. I'd defo recommend it. It comes with a white cover you can take off and wash too.

mrsmummytobe · 02/12/2013 16:54

Irish I have the dream genie pillow too &it is comfy. Before pregnancy I used to sleep on my front & I love sleeping on my back so I'm finding just sleeping on my side harder but this does help & it's a good support.

Congrats all team blue mummies! We've got our baby bond scan next sun 8th. Can't wait to find out. The midwife predicted blue at our 12 week scan but my dh is convinced it will be pink!

moominleigh94 · 02/12/2013 17:27

Still so tempted to book a gender scan... only got to wait until the 12th for our 20 week scan, but I want to know now!!

Irisheyessmiling · 02/12/2013 17:27

Thanks I'll check out the dream genie too!

thistlelicker · 02/12/2013 17:45

I have to wait until the 17th.... Two weeks tomorrow!!

hobbjobb · 02/12/2013 17:53

I think we are going to wait to find out the sex. I like the idea of guessing and having people speculate!
I seem to be in the minority though!

mrsmummytobe · 02/12/2013 18:03

Moomin it's 39.99 for the gender scan. Could it be an early Xmas present from anyone maybe??

moominleigh94 · 02/12/2013 18:10

Also thank you to everyone for being so kind and supportive while I've been feeling like rubbish. It really has helped. Going to try uni counsellors first - there's a wait for routine appointments at the doctors until January, been recommended to a book an emergency appointment for my back tomorrow anyway.
