I'm here & according to my what to expect app my baby is now the size of a turnip!! Lol not the cutest image ever!

Just wanted to add my vote for the angel sounds Doppler. We got one for about £20 on amazon & it's lovely being able to hear the baby's heart beat. But I agree with what Rebecca and others said as I haven't actually used it much but it's nice to know it's there if I want it!

Hugs cbeebies, hope you're ok.

LongTailedTit · 28/11/2013 00:13

Evening all! :)

I really wanted to get a Doppler at the beginning, but after my 16wk appt where both the midwife and her student really struggled to find and then keep the heartbeat on their Doppler, I don't dare! I'd just panic myself if I couldn't find it.

Because I'd been feeling movements most days last week (just a couple a day mostly) I've been a bit worried as I hadn't felt any since the weekend - those I did have I thought I'd imagined. This evening tho has been a (gentle) disco in my uterus Grin

Chip86 · 28/11/2013 06:39

Thanks little for the advice i will stop worrying [Grin]

long that sounds amazing

Morning all hope you all have a lovely day

Im 16 +6 avocardo

mrsmummytobe · 28/11/2013 06:55

Chip what's your due date? I'm 16 + 4 today & due 11th May.

loopylou52 · 28/11/2013 07:13

I'm due on the 11th too mrsmummy Smile

I've got terrible spots too - not that unusual for me unfortunately and I had to stop using my prescription acne stuff before TTC. They're the only thing about me that is glowing (bright red)!

I had to run for my train this morning - not good - still feel like I haven't got my breath back 20 minutes later!

clareyfarey · 28/11/2013 07:18

15+5 today and finally starting to feel human! After a 3 week chest infection on top of nausea and exhaustion I've been a bit of a mess Hmm

Anyone else not able to control their hormones?! I'm not usually a crier, but I have such a leaky face at the minute it's not even funny!!

Hope you're all doing well ladies, so nice to chat to others who 'get it' Smile

rebeccax2 · 28/11/2013 07:49

Morning all. Not so clareyfarey on the hormonal teary front, but I'm sure we'll all get it at some stage. I was really teary in the first trimester.

Mine is headaches! I'm waking up with one every day, now matter how much water I have to drink the night before. They don't last, a quick glass of water and a coffee and it's usually gone, but I hate it.

I got a Nikefuel band. I really want to stay active during my pregnancy but I don't have the energy to go to the gym and do a workout so it's been a great thing to have. It's basically a pedometer which also measures other activity, and reminds me to get up from my desk and do a quick 5 mins exercise every hour.

If anyone else is interested in keeping fit I also found this GREAT online Prenatal Pilates =

There are 5 x 10 min sessions so if you want to just keep a bit limber and also practice kegals etc it's great if you only have a little time.

I'm not really a big fitness person but at 37 I want to make sure I do what I can to keep my energy up.

xx Rebecca

Any gym enthusiasts check out flavia del monte on you tube, she does specific pregnancy exercises by trimester as she was pregnant at the time.

I have the lurgy!! Side effect to flu jab last week :-(

moominleigh94 · 28/11/2013 09:10

I'm having major issues with uni. The lecturers are great and have told me if I need time off to take it, but the group has a Facebook page and some of the third years in the cast take it upon themselves to point out whoever hasn't attended that day in a post and make them feel bad for not turning up. The lecturers are trying to stop it but not having much luck.

I'm feeling really ill - need to go to the doctors at some point because I think I've got SPD, and if not I think it's something linked to my mums spina bifida, but I can't take a day off for fear of being singled out - I feel so guilty if I take time off. :(

Also last night my housemate turned up steaming drunk at 3am, slammed the gate, slammed the door and wandered around the house banging things so I thought we were being burgled and I couldn't get back to sleep afterwards. I'm about to do a 12 hour rehearsal on 3 hours of sleep :( I can't carry on like this, but I don't know what to do :(

wm3010 · 28/11/2013 09:19

Moomin please don't worry about the Facebook group. They really can't relate to what you're going through so you can only look out for yourself. I hope you don't have SPD or anything other than just normal pregnancy aches and pains but you should get checked out and ignore other people, you have to put you and your baby first. Your housing situation is a nightmare, I really hope you can get some help xxx

moominleigh94 · 28/11/2013 09:25

thanks wm. I hope its not SPD too but I described it to my mum and she got worried. At night if I turn over in bed its so painful I cry and I can't sleep, ots getting harder and harder to walk further than to the car and im only 18 weeks :(

Vikks · 28/11/2013 09:30

Hi All,

Just checking in. Welcome newbies!

Moomin you and your baby come first, if you need to go to the doctors/take time off, then F@@K everyone else! Remove yourself from the Facebook page so it doesn't affect you. I really feel for you, PG is hard enough without all he added shit you’re having to go through!
Take care Thanks

Vikks · 28/11/2013 09:34

I've got my 16 week appointment today. DP is taking time off to come with me, so cute! I think he's hoping we'll hear the heartbeat.

Plus 9 days until gender scan!!!! Not that I'm counting Wink

15+6

moobaloo · 28/11/2013 09:47

For those interested in the Jane Slalom Pro Here is my review, after basically ten minutes of ownership!

It's big, nice big not stupid big. Nice and high off the ground for baby to travel in I think. VERY light to push and maneuver, 3 wheeler with front swivel wheel makes it very easy. Single bar handle means you can steer and push it with one hand. Front wheel locks into place if you want it to. Pushchair section reclines easily and had movable foot rest so semi-reclined with foot rest up I think it would be very snug for a 1 year old and then you just adjust as they grow up to 4 years. It's a big of a faff to take the pushchair section off - lots of poppers and zips - but all the fabric comes off and can be machine washed (mine is second hand and has had two babies in and it is very clean!) Plus you don't need to take the pushchair part off to fold it. Anyway I won't be using that for the first 9mo/1yr as I also have the Matrix Cup Car Seat, which is BIG, goes across two seats and doubles as a carry cot and overnight bed (if you buy the mattress - about £15 new) This is lie flat, but can be adjusted to sit up a little and then becomes a rear facing car seat when in the up postion. As it means the baby can lie totally flat it is suitable from birth up to 13kg (9/12 months) and there are no time restrictions for how long baby can stay in it (max 2 hours in a normal car seat due to curled position and possible risk of not getting enough oxygen) Can go on the pram facing forwards or backwards, flat or up. Unzips down both sides so baby can be put in and whole snug thing can be zipped off if it's warm. Has a hood which goes all the way down and can be taken off. It's not light, but easy enough to get out of the car and onto the pram frame with one hand and it clicks into the frame in one move. Frame when folded is not small, but I don't have a lot of pram knowledge to compare it with, it fits easily with room to spare in the boot of my estate car and would fit in most hatchbacks I imagine, just a little more snugly. Wheels come off easily, you just press the button in the middle and they pop off, so that would make it smaller in a car and easier to change a tyre. A spare set of wheels on ebay is about £5-£15 and we are going to buy a set just in case of punctures or damage as I will do a lot of off roading with it! There is a pump with the pram and if that has been lost a bicycle pump fits fine.

Wow that's long! Hope it's useful, I find there isn't a huge amount of information about these prams on the internet all in one place and I they are not common, but I really love it Grin with raincovers and the matrix etc. There are quite a few on ebay for very reasonable prices (I think because they're not a common name like mamas and papas or quinny etc?) and most can be posted for about £40 courier.

nb. also handle is adjustable and suitable for up to 6'4 which may be handy for those of you with taller DPs etc.

Here it is in mothercare - the slightly newer version of the model than mine and it's 20% off!!

LittleBairn · 28/11/2013 09:51

moomin have they even pulled up by the others who are being named? Silly people are going to end up making enemies.
It needs to be pointed out to them it could be seen as bullying and harassment which could be a reason for them being excluded from Uni.

vikks is right remove yourself from the page.

That does sound very like SPD or it could just be a soft ligament flare up. I was experiencing something similar a while ago but it's settled down for now.

vikks so exciting you will find out the gender so soon.

wm3010 · 28/11/2013 09:57

Moomin get yourself along to the doctor and make sure you get a physio referral. It does sound bad, but on the other hand remember that your mum will be even more worried than you so is likely to over-react. My dh is a physio and panics about every little twinge in my pelvis in case it is SPD although is starting to calm down now as he has accepted that even the luckiest of us will get some aches and pains with all that is going on inside. Yours is more worrying. Don't put up with being in pain like that though, you need some help and once you know what you're dealing with that may make things easier anyway, worry and imagining the worst will not help.

LittleBairn · 28/11/2013 10:02

moob JSP sounds like it would be a decent all terrain buggy.
I like the car seat sounds ideal.

I think we are really going to struggle finding a car seat that I find suitable.
I don't drive and my DH decided to get rid of the car and only use his van. Which I like a lot being so high up we already had someone smash into us when I was 8 weeks at my side, luckily being so high up meant it didn't have much of an impact in me.

The downside is a lot of car seats won't be suitable and it will be a pain in the arse to get a baby in and out of it.
I really want rear facing till 4 years seat or a compromise of Kiddy Pro once the baby is old enough.
But it needs to go in the middle seat so most of these won't fit it.

hamncheese · 28/11/2013 10:35

I'm feeling much the same cbeebies if its any consolation :(

Here with my um... I'm going to say potato as I have no idea what size but potatoes come in many sizes. And also with my overgrown pumpkin rolling about on the floor in front of me (DS!)

MrsFooCough · 28/11/2013 12:28

Hey everyone! Popping my head round the door again, although knowing me I'll forget to post again until I'm due haha Blush
Moom please don't get too down about the bell ends on your course. If they feel the need to hassle people about not being in lectures/seminars then they're just after brownie points from the lecturers and probably have no social skills. A friend of mine was pregnant during our biomedical sciences final year project and was nearly pressured into staying in the freezing cold lab five days a week 9am thru about 6/7pm by BELLENDS who couldn't accept that a pregnant woman has to listen to her body when it twinges at her.
Aaaaaaand relax Angry... Blush

All my posts are destined to be essays aren't they Grin

So yes, my hip pain has started - used to have problems since childhood due to a poorly-healed fractured coccyx - so I don't know if this is that being exacerbated or a whole new world of pain with pelvic girdle/SPD. Sigh Sad
DH has been nagging me to go to the doctor about it, I finally agree with him! Shock

LittleBairn · 28/11/2013 15:07

Oh man I'm going to be soppy.....I flaming love my DH he just called me to tell me he set me up a love Film account (we already have Netflix) because he knows I get bored at home being all pregnant.

Mrsfoo Hopefully the Dr can get you a speedy app with the physio with your history they should be a lot more motivated.

mrsmummytobe · 28/11/2013 17:57

Hi ladies, just catching up on the thread today.

Loopylou we can be bump buddies!

Rebecca I've been getting headaches too. I went to the doctor today & she said it's quite common in the 2nd trimester but it's safe to take paracetamol or even codeine if it's bad.

Moomin I'm really sorry to hear of your troubles & hope you're ok. Those people from uni have no idea what it's like to be pregnant. Try not to let them get you down. We're all here for you.

Phew this has turned into a long post!

MrsFooCough · 28/11/2013 18:29

Not as long as mine usually are mrsmummy !

I've got to dislodge a very sleepy little doggy to go and phone my new waxing place now - trying to get an appt tomorrow for my first Brazilian since before the BFP Shock poor waxing lady will probably faint, DH and I agree it's like I'm smuggling a Wookiee in my knickers Blush

thistlelicker · 28/11/2013 18:31

I take paracetamol regularly for headaches and sore
Boobies and occasionally have codine but my consultant said its fine

Xavielli · 28/11/2013 18:43

MrsFoo - that made me chuckle! I'm a pro at blind fanjo shav
