Ladies I think we need a new festive thread to take us through to the end of the year. And as it will be me to sneeze next –how did it get around to my turn so quickly???-- I thought I would do the honours.

its strange because I will be fine for about an hour but then get the pains again! not going to chart yet as I am unsure if this 'is it' but then again it is my first time!! does it sound like labour? I do feel very 'low' heavy down there!!

Bumpiemalumpie · 21/01/2014 20:24

And anyway, the consultant is still on the fence re: mlu vs hospital!!

musicalmrs · 21/01/2014 20:33

Eeeek Bumpie, exciting! Could they be BH, or are you sure they're something more than that?

Can't remember it hurting to wee.. but then again I can't remember weeing at all during labour. Clearly it wasn't a top priority Wink (I'm sure I must have).

Bumpiemalumpie · 21/01/2014 20:41

That's the problem, I don't know what they are because when ever I have asked anyone what bhs and contractions feel like I usually get "you'll know!"

ThedementedPenguin · 21/01/2014 21:25

bumpie I'll not be much help as I don't know what normal contractions are like. When I was induced I peed a few times but don't remember peeing being sore although I got stuck on the toilet with the contractions. Was not fun.

How many weeks are you bumpie?

Fox it's great the amount if things I've got quite a bit cheap but I do warn you it is addictive. I'm always looking.

Hope everyone is keeping well. I'm off to bed as I'm exhausted.

Solars · 21/01/2014 21:36

Oooo Bumpie we were told at our antenatal class the difference between Braxton hicks and real contractions is that with BH your stomach becomes hard all over whereas with real contractions if you put your hands on your stomach only part of it is hard. Also if you change positions the contractions may stop if they're BH but real contractions will still continue. I obviously have no experience but hopefully that may help?

Bumpiemalumpie · 21/01/2014 21:45

Solars, that is helpful actually. Our nct was rubbish about birth except for position ideas!!

I am 38.2wks now, never thought I would make full term! I am probably stressing out as I am only on day 2 of my mat leave. actually, I haven't officially started it as am using up my leave!!

Have taken some paracetamol and am going to try to sleep!!

Thanks all

SantaMaybe · 21/01/2014 21:48

Sorry Bumpie, I'm late to the party! I also have no experience, but am brooking like nobody's business Grin. Hope you manage to get a good sleep

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 22/01/2014 08:46

How are you doing today Bumpie?

Bumpiemalumpie · 22/01/2014 09:20

Hey all,

Well, I took some paracetamol and kept well apart from the 8 wee wakes. I have now had a nap as well and feel ok.

I think baby is really low and I may be constipatedBlush

thank you for the support though, I thought I was loosing my mind!! I promise though that when the time cones, I will do a live birth thread!!!

TheLittleFriend · 22/01/2014 09:26

How exciting Bumpie. I think I remember feeling similar when I was due with my dc. I think it was from them pressing so low down when fully engaged. Definitely get checked for uti if pain continues though. Both my dc were very quick sneeze births, so I hope this is a good sign! (Recorded labour time for ds was 13 minutes!) Grin

Bumpiemalumpie · 22/01/2014 09:39

Ooo little I will hold on to that!!

It is not a pain when weeing Blush Blush as much as sitting to do it!

SantaMaybe · 22/01/2014 09:43

Glad you're ok Bumpie! Are you fully engaged yet? Could it be that?

Oh Little id forgotten about your sneeze birth!! Surely as I had your lucky piss stick, I get to follow suit with a sneeze birth too??!!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 22/01/2014 10:16

It hurt to pee when I was in labour. No idea why, but I remember sitting on the toilet in Triage to provide a pee sample at probably 2cm dilated and crying because it hurt so much. This was after 3 days of off-again-on-again contractions, mind. In my fanjo, though, not my bum (I think).

My BH didn't hurt - just felt breathless and tummy weirdly tight. Actual labour was like period pains, in uterus/back and tops of legs. Good luck, Bumpie!

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 22/01/2014 14:27

Bumpie could your baby be back to back? That might explain pain when sitting particularly if it has dropped and you have been getting contractions?

Bumpiemalumpie · 22/01/2014 14:57

hey,

I am not sure, it feels like its back is still on my right side!! feels today like it is bumping my pelvis but missing the hole!!!!

Had a great friend rock up with soup and choc and cleaned my kitchen!!! so wonderful! I am crap at accepting help or asking for it so when it just turns up I am so pleased!!!

how is everyone??

loving the baby pics on facebook!!

Stacks · 23/01/2014 17:34

Very exciting Bumpie. I didn't get any normal contractions with DS, just from the induction drip, so can't really help. Are you hoping LO will come soon, or happy to wait a couple more weeks?

I'm ok, very tired though. I think DS is dropping from 2 naps to 1, except for the days he's just deciding not to nap at all :( He's sleeping through the night again at least, so I can't complain too much. I really need him to keep having at least one nap till the baby comes, and as long after as possible!
My scar pain is a lot better. The weekend seems to have been the worst. It's still sore, especially to touch, but not interfering too much with day to day now. I chatted to the midwife, but it's probably a dr thing - and I'm in the middle of changing dr surgeries, so kind of don't have a dr to call just now.

Bumpiemalumpie · 23/01/2014 18:25

MORE TMI WARNING

can I ask, what colour is your plug supposed to be and how much is there!!!!

RubberBullets · 23/01/2014 18:35

I didn't get anything until I had sweeps so not sure how much gunk was plug and how much was lube IYSWIM. I had blood in mine too because of the sweep but I did have lots of gunk coming out. Sounds promising to me especially if you haven't had any sweeps.

Bumpiemalumpie · 23/01/2014 18:54

Nope, no sweeps, just an over the bump exam at 3:30!!

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 23/01/2014 18:55

Bumpalumpie, it's quite a decent size and can vary in colour, but its like jelly sort of texture, you will know it and its not like you have anything else stashed up there to drop out lol. Doesn't mean labour is imminent though, I lost part of my plug at 35 weeks with ds1, and he wasn't born till 38+6. I remember the midwife telling me that the plug can regenerate and doesn't matter if you lose some of it....but ....out of all our nct group I was the only one who went early and as far as I know I was the only one who had an early show....just saying ;)

Bumpiemalumpie · 23/01/2014 19:03

Mm interesting to know, then I definitely think I am loosing it!! the plug that is, my mind went on day one of mat leave!!

Can I ask, I saw the midwife today and she wrote 1/5, does that mean baby is 1/5 in the pelvis or there is 1/5 left?? I have been 3/5 since wk31!;

RubberBullets · 23/01/2014 19:15

It is how much she can feel so there is only 1/5 left to engage, you are almost fully engaged now

Bumpiemalumpie · 23/01/2014 19:22

ooo thanks!

cartoontrickster · 23/01/2014 19:33

hi ladies
sorry for the silence I've been reading but not much time to post.
sweetie sorry you are still having eye problems.
bumpie how exciting symptom spotting for labour! hope you don't have to wait too much longer.
hope everyone else is keeping well, can't remember what I've read sorry!
I'm still adjusting to mummyhood and so far the longest I've spent on my own with him is 5hours and half of that time we were both asleep! but I'm slowly building my confidence.
the only thing is I've been waking him in the night for feeds every 4 -4.5 hrs. we were told not to leave them longer than 4hrs. I set an alarm to wake me sometimes he's woken already other times not. he's bottle feed. should I not do this and let us both sleep until he crys for a bottle? hope that makes sense. at the moment I'm using ready made formula so can have a bottle in seconds for him.
