Ladies I think we need a new festive thread to take us through to the end of the year. And as it will be me to sneeze next –how did it get around to my turn so quickly???-- I thought I would do the honours.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

thank god I'm not the only one sweetie it is so expensive doing it this way but it does make me slightly less anxious. dh has made up the odd bottle with the powder during the day though.
I could go all day with no food but like you dh makes me, thing is he's surviving most of the day on chocolate and biscuits I keep reminding him that he needs proper food too.

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 13/01/2014 22:25

Trix, just to say you wouldn't have been doing anything wrong, a newborn baby will feed like crazy to bring your milk in and to create the supply they need, he wouldn't have been going without, they just know that they must feed to build the supply. With my two the first night wasn't too bad, but the second night with both was a killer.

ThedementedPenguin · 14/01/2014 10:08

Trix I'm glad things are going good for you. It's very strange coming home as a group of 3. It's just recently hit me that it won't be long before there's another. Crazy how it's just hit me I'm actually having a baby, that my wee family is going to change and H will not be my wee baby anymore.

Sweetie I miss those sleepy days. Glad your first day went so well and that your mum came to help.

I got 8 hours sleep last night. It must be a record for H these days. Usually I'm lucky if he goes 3-4 hours.

How's everyone else?

maybe have you booked your whooping cough jab?

Solars · 14/01/2014 10:37

Hi everyone. Hope all of you are doing well.

Trix lovely to hear your birth story and you sound like you're doing really well!

Sweetie you too sound as if you are doing amazingly well with the twins!

I have my consultant appointment tomorrow so will hopefully be discussing induction timing etc really hope I get heard in terms of what I want. Wish me luck!

SantaMaybe · 14/01/2014 11:12

Oh Solars how exciting. Remind me again of what the current situation is, and what you want to happen. Stand strong lovely, remember, they can't force anything on you x

Good sleep Pen!! I've had my jab already, had it on New Year's Eve.

ThedementedPenguin · 14/01/2014 11:28

How was it maybe? Was it just like flu jab? Or did you feel sick after? I'm over 28 weeks now so thinking about getting booked in for it.

cartoontrickster · 14/01/2014 12:09

thank u loopy I appreciate you saying that. I've questioned my decision to stop breast feeding ever since and would even say I missed it although I only did it for 2 days. but Im happy with my decision now I think it makes me worry slightly less.
I cant believe he's a week old today already Shock

SantaMaybe · 14/01/2014 12:23

I wouldn't take my experience as the norm Pen, as I react badly to tetanus injections (which this jab has in it) so I had quite a bad local reaction which is still here 2 weeks later. It didn't make me ill though. And it hurt less to do than the flu jab, so I would definitely book it ASAP.

A week already Trix! That's flown! Never feel bad about any decision you make, as long as you are all healthy and happy, that's the main thing.

Solars · 14/01/2014 12:37

I had the whooping cough jab at 32 weeks Pen and it was absolutely fine.

I second what Maybe said Trix there's no right or wrong, you have to make the decision that you're happy with and what word for you and your family.

Maybe it's that whole issue of being over 40 years and them inducing me at 40 weeks rather than waiting to see beyond that if things happen naturally. MrS and I will try and say we don't mind 41 weeks and will be willing to come in daily for monitoring if that makes them happy. I just don't want to be induced if there are no issues and the only reason being is I'm over 40. If I'm well and the baby is well then there should be no reason to do it. How are you doing?

SantaMaybe · 14/01/2014 13:10

Good for you Solars, I totally agree with you and MrS. There is no need to induce if all is well. We were talking about this at our first hypnobirthing session, and she was saying to stand your ground. I'm keeping everything crossed that the meeting goes to plan lovely.

I'm ok thanks, I'm a bit worried I have an ear infection though Sad

Solars · 14/01/2014 19:00

Thanks Maybe lovely! poor you with the ear infection! have you had it seen too? Hoping it clears up soon. I'm off to my lazy daisy class but to be honest I just want to go to bed and fall asleep....

SantaMaybe · 14/01/2014 19:20

What's on the agenda for tonight's class Solars? I think I'm going to have to go the the GP tomorrow. Have been trying to see if it's just blocked up, but it feels sore and swollen now, best to be on the safe side Smile

Bumpiemalumpie · 15/01/2014 07:17

Hello all, popping in to say hey. 3days left at work!!

Maybe, I am sorry about your ear, I get frequent ear infections, you could take some paracetamol?

Sweety, I love hearing about the twins!!

sorry, have to go off to work now but will be a full participant from friday!!

SantaMaybe · 15/01/2014 08:25

3 days left Bumpie!! Woohoo!! Thanks, I have been taking paracetamol. Trying to see if the GP will fit me in today.

Morning everyone else Smile

keepitgoing · 15/01/2014 09:28

good luck for today's appointment solars! how many weeks are you now? I think you're being sensible too. stick to your guns x

poor you maybe

bumpie surely you're not doing much at work by now Grin

Solars · 15/01/2014 11:01

Bumpie yay for only 3 more days!!

Maybe & Keep consultant was absolutely brilliant even before I could argue with him he said this is only an offer to be induced at 40 weeks and when you want to do it is entirely up to you! He put in notes that I can let them know when induction needs to be anytime after 40 weeks. He was happy with how baby and I were progressing (baby is bang on 50th percentile) so I'm all sorted to have what ever works for me. I have my midwife appointment to discuss birth plan in 2 weeks time. I'm currently 35+1.

Hope you got your appointment Maybe. Yesterday was my last class but I can drop into any classes up until birth if I need a refresher. It was a recap on all the stuff we'd been doing in terms of breathing etc. plus we talked about birth positions.

How's it all going Keep?

SantaMaybe · 15/01/2014 11:33

Oh Solars, that's amazing news!! I bet you're feeling so relieved arent you?! And brilliant news about all the growth!! It won't be long now lovely!!!

I did get an appointment, she thinks I have a virus which has caused my ears to go into crazy wax production. I never get waxy ears, so it's a bit weird. I've got to take paracetamol and stick olive oil in my ears, then go back on Monday and have them syringed. I'm really struggling as I'm deaf on one side and so off balance. And just full of snot too. I am beyond attractive Wink.

How is S Keep?

Munxx · 15/01/2014 12:54

So thrilled for trix

Wonderful to hear about everyone else!

maybe hope you feel better soon xx

SantaMaybe · 15/01/2014 14:40

Thabks lovely Munx. How are things with you?x

ThedementedPenguin · 16/01/2014 10:16

Bumpie that's great news, I bet you are glad your nearly finished work. How many weeks are you?

Solars your consultant sounds fantastic. That's great to have that sorted out and on your notes.

Maybe how are you feeling now? Hope your ear is better?

I have an appointment tomorrow I'll be 28+6. I assume it's with my consultant but we shall see when we get there. I'm really hoping I'll get a scan, if do I'm going to ask about the sex just to double check as I've bought so many clothes.

Re: weight wise, I've not put on any weight. I was 64kg at my booking in appointment at 8weeks. I weighed myself one day at my sisters and was 62kg that was maybe around start of December and again two days ago and I'm still 62kg. How have I got such a big bump when I'm not putting on any weight?

SantaMaybe · 16/01/2014 11:15

Pen I wouldn't worry. I lost so much in the first 5 months that I'm still the same. The main thing is that the bunks are growing as they should Smile I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. Do you automatically see a consultant in NI?

ThedementedPenguin · 16/01/2014 11:51

Maybe no I was midwife led last time. However after ds I had a smear and it came back with abnormal cells. Due to the biopsy and having cells removed I'm now consultant care as cervix is shortened/different. So that's why.

I'm not sure if it will make any difference with labour as I really want to be on the midwifery led unit this time. Might ask this tomorrow if I remember.

SantaMaybe · 16/01/2014 12:06

Ah, I see Pen so sorry if you've mentioned that before, my brain is slowly turning to mush Wink id definitely ask tomorrow if you can birth in the unit, fingers crossed you'll be able to.

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 16/01/2014 12:51

Hope appointment went well penguin. Do you know if you are at risk of premature labour? I only mention it because a friend of ours had a short cervix which they were monitoring, and she ended up delivering at 27+4. All ok and he's 3 now, but I just remember her telling us it was because her cervix was short. Although no idea how short or how they even knew about it!

Munxx · 16/01/2014 13:16

Good luck Pen I was consultant led all the way until I was induced then they suddenly decided I could birth in the midwife led unit!

First birth it was the other way around, point being they may well change their minds a few times.
