Ladies I think we need a new festive thread to take us through to the end of the year. And as it will be me to sneeze next –how did it get around to my turn so quickly???-- I thought I would do the honours.

If anyone knows the name from fb and Trix doesn't mind , could I have a pm please??

keepitgoing · 10/01/2014 08:45

trix massive congratulations! what a birth. and he's little but perfect Grin

she's not on fb. trix how do we see instagram?

I think we could come to Sheffield if that's the easiest place? if it's near the station?

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 10/01/2014 08:51

If you're on Instagram find me (I'm there with my real name) and she's on my following list :)

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 10/01/2014 08:52

Ooh, I feel a meet up coming on :):)

keepitgoing · 10/01/2014 08:56

sweetie yes she had baby acne on face and chest for about 2 weeks, came and went v suddenly. I think nearly all my Nct group have had it, though bf babies more, due to hormones. the go gave us double base moisturising cream and oilatum for the bath. I think you can buy both in the chemist. that's more for her dry skin. just clean it daily with water. you can also use olive oil to moisturise. we are putting it on her cradle cap which is quite bad at the mo. I don't think any of these are itchy, but hard to know as they don't have the ability to itch.

meant to ask you. do people keep telling you the twins look like you Wink

ThedementedPenguin · 10/01/2014 10:02

Maybe it's amazing how much that scan shows. It's good they gave you an estimated weight, I can't wait to find this out if I get a scan on 17th.

Keep it's awful when they give injections, I always feel so bad for them and really guilty.

Trix that's was an amazingly quick. He's so tiny, I bet he's just gorgeous.

Hearing about all these babies, I just want mine now. Although I'm not quite prepared.

SweetieTime · 10/01/2014 12:39

Trix I am so pleased for you after all you have been through. It sounds a very intense experience with the best possible outcome. I bet you cannot wait to get you all home and settled.

Keep thanks for the tips on baby acne. E has only got it on her face so far. They both have dry skin too but so far I haven't used anything on it. HV suggested E45 but I am not sure it is bad enough to use something so strong. I have heard about using olive oil but am not sure if it is just the sort you use to cook so haven't gone down that route either. We have been bought loads of Johnsons products, baby lotions and oils, but have heard these can be too strong too. I might do a patch test on a foot before going for it on their whole body.

Sheffield sounds great for a meet up if others can get there easily too. Meadowhall would be ideal Wink but I am not sure if it is easy to get to on a train.

we use extra virgin sweetie as that's all that's in the house Blush I checked with the HV it's not a special type of olive oil x

Afternoon all. I dissapeared into to over Christmas an the new year, so much less time for mn with DH home and no baby groups for DS. Plus all the usual Christmas and new year commitments. I hop everyone had a good holiday season?

I've not had a chance to read back at all yet, though I see Trix sneezed, congratulations!

I'm just 16w now. Think I've felt a little bit of movement, but really not sure. It's so different this time around, with DS I was sitting bored at a desk all day, with nothing to do but daydream about babies and examine every little flutter in my tummy. Now I'm lucky to get 10 minutes sitting down! Had my midwife appointment yesterday though, so I got to hear the heartbeat and get a bit of reassurance all is ok in there. Also had a chat with her about how awful my care has been for my thyroid, so she's looking up options and emailing the consultant about it all. Hopefully things there will improve soon too.

Will try and read back when DS has his nap.

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 10/01/2014 15:16

Firstly, congrats to trix on such a fast birth! hope you are enjoying getting to know him now.

Sweetie we got told by nct that johnsons stuff is really not good for babies (I think they said carcinogens in them?) and i remember them saying talcum powder was really bad, so we binned what we had bought rather than take any risks. We wash their hair using dentinox which I swear by for cradle cap, and when little I used grape seed oil on their skin too, ds2 had it bad on his scalp and eyebrows and being blonde it was very noticeable on him and the oil really helped. To this day I have not used any products on them in the bath, and they have never been smelly ;). And as ours suffer with dry skin, I have never been one of those moms to bath them every night. And they have always slept through fine so I don't believe in these stories about having a set routine every night. DS2 will regularly do 13hours+ sleep, whether he has had a bath or not lol.

Stacks I felt ds2 less than ds1 in the day times, like you said, life was busier and so I rarely noticed movements until I sat down in the evening, unless they were particularly big ones. I actually felt ds2 earlier though as he was placenta at the back and ds1 was placenta at the front (anterior I think?)

Hey all, could I ask a favour, any of you who are FB friends of mine, please pop onto my wall and share the pic, I need J to learn an important loudmouth lesson. Thanks.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 10/01/2014 17:46

Loudmouth??? I meant Internet, not even close that time Blush

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 12/01/2014 12:04

Hi everyone, I just popped by to check on Trix. Big congratulations on your baby boy! I'm so happy to hear he's here safe and sound. It really sounds like a sneeze birth. I'm so pleased for you and DH after all you've been through x

cartoontrickster · 12/01/2014 16:50

thank you cups I really hope it's your turn soon. I'm sure it will be. x

SantaMaybe · 13/01/2014 09:16

Morning all, how is everyone today?

Lovely to see you Cups x

How are you all settling in Trix?

We are most quiet in here of late!

cartoontrickster · 13/01/2014 09:54

maybe we're doing ok I think, its hard I'm always wondering whether I'm doing the right thing.. but he seems happy enough most of the time Grin
me and dh are suffering from severe lack of sleep today Shock < yawn face> but its all good.

SantaMaybe · 13/01/2014 09:57

So pleased all is going well Trix, it must be so strange leaving the house as two people and then coming back as three Smile

SweetieTime · 13/01/2014 16:19

Trix lovely to see you popping in. Are you going to share the name of your new arrival & a photo?

My DH has gone back to work today, it hasn't been too bad. I am so blessed with sleeping twins and my Mum has been here to help out. I managed to get up, showered, dressed and had my cereal before they woke up. So I know I can do it. I still find it very overwhelming that these children are actually ours for ever and there is no going back. The responsibility is so huge is scares me to think about it too much.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Oh Sweetie, that's great news!! Is your mum staying with you? I bet MrS has missed them terribly today!!

I try not to think too much about being an actual parent. It's terrifying Smile

keepitgoing · 13/01/2014 20:31

they won't be sleepy forever sweetie! Wink glad your mum's there. mine arrived today too which is great as we are in a period of hellish sleep Sad

trix it's all terrifying isn't it? I'm always convinced I'm doing it wrong. did dh sort out the meconium poo? Smile are you home? lots of love x

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/01/2014 20:41

Maybe, getting into our own normal car with DD2 was so weird! I sat in the back next to her in case she cried, which added to the strangeness because I never sit in the back. When we got home Mum and DSis and my stepdad were all there so we didn't dwell on it, but I remember going off to have a bath that evening, with DH to help me get in and out post-CS, and we shut the door behind us and just went 'Wow'. Emotional overload! and I spent the entire first year checking she was breathing at least once a night

Trix, of course you're doing the right thing! All Brookers are ace parents. Fact.

Sweetie, I am in awe of you coping with two! Glad you got on well today.

Stacks, hope the MW gets something sorted about your thyroid. Yay for little movements! I think I can occasionally feel weeny teeny movements, like you say, usually at night when it's quiet and I'm lying down. I'm not very sure. Yay for 16 weeks!

I feel a bit like I'm marking time because I was put back a week at the scan. I'll feel better once I'm making forward progress again. It still seems a bit remote, this pg, despite seeing the baby at the 12 week scan.

cartoontrickster · 13/01/2014 21:23

haha I've done most of the nappies! the mw did his first because dh wasn't there yet and I was scared!
we came home on thursday eve I stayed in a bit longer than needed because I was worried about feeding. I started off breast feeding but was so worried about him getting enough and then we had a night where he never seemed to be off my breast. so I gave up and he now has bottles. he seems much more settled and dh is enjoying being able to feed him. at the moment we've been using the ready made ones for ease because now I'm worried about getting up in the night and making up his feeds one at a time. I sat up half of last night watching him sleep. hopefully u will start to relax soon. did anyone else find they went off their food? I've completely lost my appetite.

SweetieTime · 13/01/2014 21:30

Trix I still have no appetite. Try to eat what you can. I can only face toast or cereal but try to eat to please DH. We bought those ready made bottles too and still have the ready made cartons that we just pour into the sterilised bottles now they have bigger feeds. We are lucky that a carton of 200ml does half each for each feed as the twins are on about 100mls per feed at the moment. We do this day and night. It is costing us a fortune but it has been a life saver while I have been unable to see. I aim to try to make up the powder milk soon but we have a stock of the ready made stuff so don't worry if you stick with it for a bit until you feel comfortable to move onto the powder stuff.
