Ladies I think we need a new festive thread to take us through to the end of the year. And as it will be me to sneeze next –how did it get around to my turn so quickly???-- I thought I would do the honours.

trix glad everything went well. My ds was measured small, predicted weight of 6lb. He was born 3 weeks after my niece and he was heavier but 2cm smaller. Mw at private scan said this baby is measuring small of about a week, but then I'm not big/tall and I was a very small baby.
Have you discussed leave with work yet?

I have forgotten how hard name picking is. I started a thread in baby names but after realised that mn has completely different taste to me.

maybe have you been able to make a list of names?

sweetie how's you? Not long left...

SantaMaybe · 13/12/2013 09:22

Everything will be fine Trix.

Yes Pen, we have a short list of three names now. It's such a big deal isn't it?!

cartoontrickster · 13/12/2013 09:23

thanks pen that's reassuring. silly really we would all be worried if treats was big can't win really!
I've finished at work now. slept away most of yesterday afternoon Grin .
what names do you like?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/12/2013 12:40

Trix, how scary! So glad you and Treats are ok. If you think you're getting less movement than usual then get thee to Triage as fast as you can - they'll be happy to put the trace on you.

Stacks, sorry to hear you've been poorly. How are you getting on today?

Oooh, names...I'm planning on finding out the sex which makes the name chat much easier and gives me a valid excuse for putting it off until 20 weeks. even though it is totally going to be a boy called Rex. Or Archie. Or Wolfie Must be even harder for Sweetie picking 2 names!

The exhaustion is descending here. I really and truly almost fell asleep yesterday in a meeting. It was really hot and my eyes kept closing involuntarily, and then I would get that pleasantly sinking feeling of sliding down into slumber - and then I would remember where I was and force my eyelids up again! I kept yawning in the morning meeting as well. The guy running it said to me when we came out 'sorry for keeping you awake!' Arsehole. I wanted to say he should try keeping awake at 9 weeks pregnant, on no breakfast and no caffeine (I was late and didn't have time for a cup of tea) while people wittered on for 3 and a half hours about bloody gullies without a single break! And I'd been sick the evening before and had diarrhoea so I don't think I'd retained much dinner either, so I was really feeling dizzy with hunger.

When did you all start showing? I seem to be sporting a definite bump. Confused I suppose this is pg no 3, but even so, it seems a bit excessive! I'm only 9+3. The other day I thought I could feel my uterus above my pelvis and got all excited thinking it might be twins (not as crazy as it sounds - I'm a twin and my dad's a twin), but now I'm not sure what, if anything, I can feel when I poke my tummy so maybe not.

SweetieTime · 13/12/2013 13:26

Too twins you say!!! OMG how exciting. This was my first pregnancy so I didn't show for ages and it took weeks to get a proper bump I just looked podgy like I have put on loads of weight.
It is so difficult to keep awake when the overwhelming tiredness takes over. You really need to make sure you have something to eat, can you keep some breakfast biscuits or fruit in your desk?

Trix you must try to find it reassuring that they want to keep a close eye in Treats. As you say small doesn't mean unhealthy. Enjoy your last day before your mat leave starts.

Pen oh do tell what names you like, I love the name game. I think MN people have different views to normal people. Some of the names suggested on the names threads are not really fit for RL, well not where we live anyway. I think we have sorted names although I haven't written them in the Christmas cards just in case we change our minds when they actually arrive we have both agreed on a first and second choice for both, it has been a slog but we have got there.

I have been to have my pre-op blood taken today so it is all starting to feel very real. The lady behind me in the blood queue was also having her pre-op blood taken too so I will see her again Monday morning ready for meeting our babies. How exciting, only 3 sleeps left to go.
This afternoon I am off to repack for the hundredth time my hospital bag and another bag for the next few days that I might have to spend in hospital so DH doesn't have to go searching for extra bits in for me and DTs. DH is working from home today too then is on paternity leave until second week in Jan.

Oh sweetie how fab dh has ages off. It's funny how prepared you can be with a planned cs.

too I didn't show for ages either, but first pg. I don't think you'd feel the uterus yet in a singleton preg. Ooh! When's your scan?

trix someone has to be on the low end of normal, hey.

I need ideas of something for baby's first Christmas, is there any small memento? Also something for dh from her.

Can I just say I have out her in the sleeping bag for the first time today and she's sleeping no probs in Moses basket where normally she just wants to be on me. I think the head hole of the one I have is still too big though so won't use it at night yet. Am considering getting the real grobag one which she could use already. Has anyone any thoughts? I am now hoping maybe this is the magic solution to more sleep ha ha yeah right

SweetieTime · 13/12/2013 15:30

keep i have ordered 2 clear baubles from DTs for sil to be decorated in silver with their names. it is a lady local to me that does them. I know she sends them elsewhere too. I have had other items from her in the past, personalised christening cups, and have always been really pleased with them. I could send you a link on fb if you are interested.

Ooh yes please! You're so organised, I am trying to Xmas shop today...

SantaMaybe · 13/12/2013 17:03

Oh Sweetie they're so nearly here!! Have you got a nice weekend planned?

Keep that's good news about the sleeping bag! Fingers crossed its the magic sleep solution!! Have you looked on not on the high street? There are some lovely gift ideas on there for babies.

Too sorry the tiredness has kicked in. It's no fun.

Trix were you a smaller baby? They say that maternal size plays more of a role in newborn size. Treats will be perfect.

SweetieTime · 13/12/2013 19:13

Keep I have shared a few photos on FB, but you can also search on Ebay for similar too.
Hope the grobags have the desired effect.

Maybe we have a list of jobs that need doing before DTs arrive. Just jobs we haven't got around to such as preparing cots and sorting out buggy tires. We also said we might go out for food tomorrow as it may be a long time we are able to do it again.

Keep highly recommend the merino kids sleeping bags. Not the cheapest initially but they are over time. They come in just 2 sizes, one which is safe from newborn to 2 years and then one which is 2-4 years. Machine washable and fine to tumble dry on a low setting. Can be used all year round as long as your house is circa 17 degrees or higher, and can't overheat in merino so reduces cot death risk. They have slots in them for the seatbelt fastening to clip through so can wear them in the car to keep them snugly. I cannot recommend them highly enough! They also stop legs from getting stuck between cot bars and are very thin to look at so they are able to wriggle abut without feeling too restrained. My 3 year old ds has mastered walking in his, and ds2 has almost managed this too.

Sweetie good luck for Monday. Make sure you have loads of vests/ baby grows. Ds2 spent his first night in hospital puking up the mucus, every time he fed and lay down he puked. Negative effect of cs, fluid doesn't get pushed out of their lungs. I lost count of how many times I insisted the staff change his sheets and him!

SweetieTime · 14/12/2013 11:39

I think DH is nesting. He has spent the last 2 hours cleaning. I have left him to it, I am sat with my feet up & a cuppa. It feels a bit wrong.

Xmas Grin Sweetie! At least he has t had a phantom pregnancy the whole time Xmas Wink. Enjoy putting your feet up lovely.

SweetieTime · 14/12/2013 13:19

I am starting to worry. He is still at it. I think he is now washing the filters from the hoover. Shock Shock I am keeping well out of the way.

SantaMaybe · 14/12/2013 13:33

Oh bless him!! Does he have a fever?!

cartoontrickster · 14/12/2013 13:53

sweetie can you send him round to me next Grin . saying that dh has done all ours this week so I could relax too. make the most of it.
maybe I think it was you that asked, I was 6.15 and a week early.
have brought one very small baby grow in the mothercare sale just incase.

SweetieTime · 14/12/2013 13:54

I asked him if he is ok. He says he is in the zone, whatever that means. I suppose he just wants to get it clean so it is done for next week. We might not have chance to do it again for a while.

SantaMaybe · 15/12/2013 06:56

I'm so excited Sweetie!! Christmas is coming early for the brookers Xmas Grin

GreenOlives · 15/12/2013 07:57

I keep checking in thinking dib and dab might be keen on an early exit but it appears not! Great baby cooking sweetie! And tomorrow you'll meet your babies - it's soo exciting! Grin

TheLittleFriend · 15/12/2013 09:21

I'm also here hanging around to meet the next brooking twins. Good luck Sweetie and enjoy every precious moment with them.

SweetieTime · 15/12/2013 09:43

Well we have had our last ever sleep in. We are off to supermarket to buy plenty of provisions for tomorrow. I won't be able to eat or drink anything but DH can so will need loads of snacks to stop him wandering off. I am going to get loads of magazines as I don't think there will be anywhere safe to leave Kindle or IPad, better safe than sorry. Then we are just chilling out, we still need to fit the car seat bases and sort out the buggy tyres.

We have to be there at 7am and then they assess all the other ELCS cases to determine order. A friend wasn't done until 2.30pm, she did say it was the longest day of her life. I hope we get done before then but will have to see as they have also said if there are loads of emergency cases we could be bumped to the next day.

I am excited but also very nervous, life will never be the same again. I cannot wait to meet them and see what they actually look like.

Morning!

OMG Sweetie I am so excited for you. I am brooking you'll get to meet them sooner rather than later tomorrow. How is your DH doing?
