Thought I'd go for it

good that you went to midwife about itching, felix. sounds like they are very much on top of it. i've been monitored for OC throughout as had abnormal liver function tests but inconclusive and no itching.
a close friend had OC and was induced at 37, great experience and a gorgeous baby. the risks to baby from the condition are a bit overstated by midwives, but by 37-38 it could be a case of 'better out than in' as my mother used to say!
just think about the spd - hopefully it will go once you give birth!

i'm off to a breastfeeding 'meet' today, heard it was a good idea to do this while still pg and as they're monthly it could be the last one without a babba in tow.. eek

BandontheFun · 04/12/2013 12:30

Hi. Hope everyone is well! Mumsnet has been acting up, been able to read but couldn't log in!

I am now on maternity leave..... It's only been 3 days but already bored out of my mind, still to sort bag, but going to get that done tomorrow, and wrap Xmas presents, but that's like 3 days work! Any one any ideas how To kill 5 weeks til my due date?

BookTart · 04/12/2013 12:37

I hope the tablets stop the itching felix, it sounds really horrible!

What did your midwife say frizz?

Have you had your scan yet toby?

Hope all is well another

I'm very jealous band, my mat leave doesn't start until next week and I'm literally nodding off at my desk! This isn't helped by the large lunch and rice pudding I just treated myself to in the student refectory Smile. Do you need to do any batch cooking, or christmas baking or anything like that? Or could you have a lovely nap followed by watching a box set?

Has anyone had a group B strep test? I'm wondering whether to have one or not.

TobyLerone · 04/12/2013 13:38

Hope your scan was ok, felix.

Hope everything's alright, frizz.

Just a few more days, book! You can do it!

Scan was fine, thanks. The biggest fibroid has moved up and the baby's head is right down past it, meaning that there's no risk to having a VB. So that's awesome! They still won't let me have a home birth, though, because I'm at risk of PPH. The consultant is going to write to the MLU to request that they allow me to have the baby there, but they might not take me because I'm not classed as low risk.

The baby is apparently 5lbs 3oz, so not huge. Not surprised about that. Quite exciting now that I can just enjoy a normal end to the pregnancy :o

No Group B Strep test for me. I did have to have another blood test, though. The consultant said that when I was in hospital (3 bloody months ago!) I had some sort of raised level of something which could have indicated an infection of some sort.
He couldn't tell me what sort of possible infection could cause no symptoms at all for 3 months. Nor why nobody has mentioned it whatsoever. So I went and had the pointless blood test done.

Felix90 · 04/12/2013 13:58

Thanks everyone!

Glad your scan went well Toby. It's good that the consultant is writing to request you give birth at the MLU, hopefully as he has written they should consider it! Shame you can't have a home birth though Hmm at least you'll be in good hands either way.

Scan went well for me. It was one of the girls from my NCT class who scanned me which was weird!!! Baby's growth is good and fluid is at a good level too. She scanned over her face and it was so weird to see. She looks cute Grin I double checked and I will definitely be induced at 38 weeks if not before, so this means baby will definitely be here by the new year as I'm 38 weeks on Christmas Day. So scary/exciting! I'm shitting myself about being induced though as I've not heard good things about it Blush

chocoloulou33 · 04/12/2013 14:02

Toby I had a scan and antenatal appointment at whh this morning!!! It was all arranged yesterday and didnt know til now u were having one too. Wonder if we were there at same time. I was sitting by reception desk being nosy so wonder if I saw u lol. I was in outpatients area a and waited almost 2 hours in total for appointment!

TobyLerone · 04/12/2013 14:03

Aaawww, lucky you got to see the baby's face! How lovely :)

Mine was turned away. We didn't even get a picture because the back of its head wasn't that interesting :o

TobyLerone · 04/12/2013 14:05

Omg I was by reception too! Between about 9.30 & 11am. Then had to go to get a blood test.

If you saw a short redhead moaning about being hot, that was probably me :o

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 04/12/2013 14:12

toby yay for no fibroid-interference! Yay for VB! Woohoo! So chuffed for you, I know you really didn't want a CS.

Felix I have that change bag - totally adore it. Also yay for you getting treatment and reassuring scans.

BookTart · 04/12/2013 14:24

Great news toby, so pleased for you Smile

How are you feeling choco?

alteredimages · 04/12/2013 14:29

hello everyone!

things seem to be getting very exciting, it's definitely getting closer! a good excuse for some online shopping, i think.

thrush seems to be clearing up nicely, once i realised i was a numpty and had cream for it in the medicine cabinet all along. Xmas Blush

DH being alternately lovely and completely arsey, so I can't shout nor can I bathe in feeling lovely and looked after. He is working flat out to finish his thesis before the birth, which means 7 day weeks and getting home after 10pm every night, which I am finding hard. House is getting distinctly cave like and generally disgusting but I'm too down to do anything about it. Still in denial/panic about impending birth in less than ideal circumstances and need DH around to help me get things done!

The eczema I thought was clearing up turns out to be psoriasis and is infected again, I'm pretty sure with thrush. The doctor I saw only gave me a moisturiser, so things are not good. Medical insurance still blocked, apparently they want more documents but we dont know what yet. It really couldnt come at a worse time and given this has been going on since september I am not happy. I have two cardiologist appointments plus blood tests this week and cant afford them. Ugh.

Sorry for the epic moan, I think I'm just disappointed because I know how hard having a new baby is so this is supposed to be the easy part.

Glad all the appointments are going well today. Felix don't worry too much about the induction. I had one at 39 weeks with DD. I was lucky that I was all ready 2cm dilated and my waters had gone, though I hadn't realised. I was straight on the synoctin drip, under the care of a seriously incompetent doctor and amazingly, it all went really well. From arriving at the hospital at midday, I was in established labour by 4pm (kept having to take the drip out to go to the toilet) and DD was born at around 5.45pm. Contractions were very weird but not painful. I think what really helped me was that I was completely clueless and had no idea what was going on so had very few expectations. I just hope things go as smoothly this time!

alteredimages · 04/12/2013 14:39

choco i hope you feel better soon. Flowers It is so annoying being ill and pregnant and no one will give you the good drugs!

beginning to worry about another. when was the last time we heard from her?

toby are you my twin? same birthday, both short red heads. anything more and it will start getting creepy. Xmas Grin

TobyLerone · 04/12/2013 14:41

:o altered.

Mythreeknights · 04/12/2013 14:49

LADIES! I just had a call from my lovely eye surgeon who confirmed via the pathology report that they have successfully removed 100% of the skin cancer Grin Grin Grin Words cannot describe how light hearted I now feel after the very frightening few weeks I have had.

I now also feel I can finally relax and enjoy the last few weeks of this pregnancy. Scan tomorrow to check placenta has moved up and I'm hoping I will find out the gender too (they have a policy of not telling you, but I'm planning on using some emotional blackmail Grin)

extracrunchy · 04/12/2013 14:50

Mythree WOOHOOOOO!!!!! That is fantastic Smile Smile Smile

extracrunchy · 04/12/2013 14:51

Toby thars fab about

extracrunchy · 04/12/2013 14:54

I mean... Toby that's fab about the fibroid getting out the way! (Sorry lost control of my excitement at all the good news Grin)

Altered that sounds horrid - hope you get some proper treatment soon, though good news about the thrush!

Felix, good they've got on top of things (if a bit scary) - and I've also got several friends who had very positive induction experiences.

DS won't nap today and I really really want him to Angry

BookTart · 04/12/2013 14:58

That's fantastic news mythree! Grin

Mythreeknights · 04/12/2013 14:59

This has been an emotional thread...

Mythreeknights · 04/12/2013 14:59

Lets hope that thread 13 won't be as cursed?!

alteredimages · 04/12/2013 15:11

Hooray mythree! What great news! You more than anyone have the right to be completely selfish and do only fun stuff until the baby is born. Flowers

TarkaTheOtter · 04/12/2013 15:24

Love all the good news at the end of this thread!

booktart I had group b strep test (privately) with dd as a friend tested positive. I doubt I will bother this time as baby will be monitored for 24 hours after birth anyway because of my diabetes and don't want to spend the £35.

altered lots of sympathy for the psoriasis. My excema is terrible at the moment and I vaguely remember it being bad at the end with dd.

felix I was induced last time at 38 weeks and it was a very positive experience. Will be induced by 38 weeks this time too and actually secretly quite pleased.

Felix90 · 04/12/2013 15:33

Altered sorry to hear about the whole skin condition thing, especially as it's been going on for so long. Hope you can get things sorted and feel more organised soon!

Mythree that's brilliant news Grin it must feel amazing to finally be able to relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

Thank you for reassurances re induction. I've been reading a few different things online and have found very positive and then very negative stories so I'm quite nervous. My NCT class was quite negative when it came to discussing inductions so I think that's what is scaring me Confused Really need to get my hospital bag packed now!!!
