Thought I'd go for it

We didn't have one with ds. He hated baths unless he was in it with dh or me. So we bathed together for a while. Which was nice

frying thats the other thing we were thinking about - bathing together with bubs....

BandontheFun · 17/11/2013 18:35

Just checking in! Internet has been acting up! Hope everyone is well.

Raspberry tea leafs...my friend swears by them, not sure if I can take the tea because I have a raspberry allergy, going to ask the midwife, hopefully the capsules will be ok!

We got a baby bath set thing from John Lewis, just gonna get DH to fill it then carry it into baby's room, sinks way to small and the bath is mega deep so think it would kill my back! So many pics of me as a baby being washed in the sink, don't make sinks like they used to.

AnotherStitchInTime · 17/11/2013 19:19

I am ok, was on labour ward for a few hours, but bleeding settled down so am now on the ante-natal ward again. Got to wait to see my consultant in the morning, but senior registrar thinks she might want to keep me in until I have the baby now.

I got rid of my baby bath just before I found out I was pregnant again so I have bought a Wash Pod. It is more compact and I thought it would be easier when we bathe baby in the living room, with my older two getting involved to help them bond.

Sultanajo · 17/11/2013 19:43

Thanks band for the baby bath input. I think thats what we are probably gonna have to end up doing too....

another oh that sucks. When are u due? Sad

sarahleanne · 17/11/2013 19:57

enormouse Your story of DS reminded me of my DD today! I nipped to Tesco's with the kids and she screamed the entire way around the shop, insisted on walking but then had a massive throw back tantrum in the freezer aisle. When I went to put her back in the trolley she went all stiff legged and arched her back and then managed to get her welly wedged inbetween the metal bars. I ended up carring her in a rugby hold for the duration of the shop which isn't great when I already have knackered my back Hmm. BUT it's nice to know i'm not the only one with a 'terrible two's' toddler Smile

another How rubbish for you. I have a feeling you will be one of the first to meet baby with all the complications you've had. I hope you are ok? When is your due date?

I havn't even bothered with a baby bath this time. I used my other one a handful of times with the other 2 kids so I've decided to bath with baby this time. They never need a bath more than once/twice a week a first anyway as strip washing and giving them a little clean is enough.

Swannykazoo · 17/11/2013 20:00

Thank god for all the advice so far. I bravely bought a pack of newborn nappies today - now you've all prompted me to think about baby baths. We could use our bidet if its really tiny except I'm sure I'm having a monster
Poor you another hope the consultant is decent tomorrow...keep us posted

rant alert
I'm putting my feet up after a very stressful 24 hrs with PIL visiting to "help" in our new house. Highlights include putting our dysfunctional dishwasher on for about 4 hours this am and STANDING WATCHING IT before mentioning he'd never actually used one so wasn't sure what was wrong with it. (I had been told not to ask for a repairman last week as he's a retired electrical engineer (not not a bloody electrician))

Spending three hours dicking about with the aeriels in the house before showing me the magic signal boost (my suggestion)

Telling me I am wrong about my choice of washing line poles

Explaining there is no need to ever have a dishwasher just wash up as you go then spent 2 bloody hours washing up three bowls, 3 plates and 3 side plates in an inch of tepid water so everything is grubby and could do with a proper wash. This included explaining to me that the dishwasher "wasn't hygienic"

And finally, listing all the things he didn't like about our new house. And never once said congrats, hope you'll be happy or how are you keeping working and moving and being a big pregnant lady.
Grr!!!
And breathe...
Feeling much better thank you ladies

Toothfairy78 · 17/11/2013 20:02

Oh another good to here they downgraded the alert level, but sucks how you're still in hospital. How soon is your due date? Sending medicinal HUGs and healing mojo waves your way.

flyawayblue · 17/11/2013 20:04

another glad your off the labour ward, hope you get to talk to your consultant soon.

My MIL bought us a baby bath to use, I don't think I would have bought one myself and not sure where to store it. Hope it will be useful later on.

flowersfortea · 17/11/2013 20:06

Checking in... Feeling a bit more organised after finalising The Bag list, but need to actually buy the things so I can pack it!

Another, hope you're ok and not too fed up in hospital

Sultanajo · 17/11/2013 20:13

puggle! That sounds like the most amazing 24 hours ever! I bet there was a lot of counting to ten and swearing under your breath going on!!!

enjoyingscience · 17/11/2013 20:36

Hi all, lost track of the last thread, and have been a miserable cow all week anyway so couldn't think of anything nice to say!

Sorry you're back in hospital another. Hope everything is ok Flowers

I hold RLT responsible for my 20 minute second stage and general super speedy labour last time, so will be drinking it like it's going out of fashion (once my delivery arrives, anyway). I really like hibiscus tea anyway, so it's no chore to drink it. That said, this one is lying stubbornly sideways, and has been for weeks, so I'm a bit obsessed that this one will be a less ideal birth.

Sultana, I can't be arsed with work either. I have several massive projects I need to complete, so can't even bring myself to work out how many days left! I am fantasising about Christmas though. It will be so nice just being off!

extracrunchy · 17/11/2013 20:42

Another that's a painSad how long would you have to be in? Have they set a date - you're probably having CS right? Hope you're reasonably comfortable and have something to amuse you a bit. Poor thing...

Toothfairy78 · 17/11/2013 20:47

Yeouch, poor you puggle! That sucks.

I am about to tar a whole load of people with one massive brush now...

Your FIL is a retired electrical engineer doesn't understand dishwashers despite thinking he could fix it for you, buggered a bunch of stuff up in your house, criticised your stuff and forgot to congratulate you or ask after your health. Sounds rather like a bunch of my engineering colleagues.

Alas they cannot help it.

You did extremely well not to throttle anyone. You should be proud of yourself. If it weren't for people like you having the patience of a saint, there'd be a pile of bodies by now. Xxx

On a related topic I just sent a somewhat ranty 3-bags full email to dept head about all the stuff I'm doing to organise retirement do fir colleague on top of my ridiculous workload and the lack of help I'm getting from others. With pointers to my holidays I have booked this week and mw appointments (hey, hello I'm fricking pregnant too!), which means time is tight. I have tomorrow morning off so wonder what things will be like when I get in?

If it's bad I'll demand they all line up against a wall so I can kick each of them in the fricking nuts.

Swannykazoo · 17/11/2013 20:51

Do it do it do it toothfairy I'm a urologist in RL so promise not to fix any ruptured nads on Tues for people who've been unreasonably annoying. Smile

sarahleanne · 17/11/2013 21:00

ooohhh puggle I bought newborn nappies today! my first pack! I've now decided to buy a pack at each shop so I am well stocked up. Luckily I know I hate pampers so I'm avoiding them and going for the cheapy ones!

extracrunchy · 17/11/2013 21:10

Asda Little Angels all the way!! Ooh AND sometimes people sell in bulk on eBay when they've bought the wrong size/DC have grown out of little nappies. We got some amazing bargain nappy mountains that way with DS!

Frizz1986 · 17/11/2013 21:35

another that sucks. Sorry this has been such an eventful few weeks. Hope that the consultant is nice tomorrow.

puggle i would've struggled to hold my frustration in and may have killed people.

We got some Tesco nappies but they seem to have 2 sizes/types that overlap weight wise and as novices we got a big pack of 1 and a mini pack of the other to see what happens. Not like they are difficult to buy. We are taking the freebie pampers ones on dday. Plan on buying own brand but will try and make use of all the free ones too.

Think we need some more newborn vests etc as we have a drawer full of 0-3 month stuff but very few of newborn. It is all so confusing though as places seem to have clothes up to 7.5-8lbs and then the next size up goes to 14lbs so which do you get? What if you have a bigger baby and cant use the smaller size, but the bigger size will be huge. You can so tell me and dh are first timers when we are wandering round mothercare lol.

Naturegirl82 · 17/11/2013 22:42

Sorry you're back in hospital another

Can't remember anything else other than baby baths. I think we have one with a stand which will be useful as can fill it from the shower and then tip into bath when we are done (that's the plan anyway) although I do have visions of floods!

I'm knackered, just spent the last 4.5 hours making dh his birthday cake to take into work tomorrow (which I hope tastes ok as I forgot to put in one of the ingredients! Oops!!)

I'm another one not wanting to go into work tomorrow. Stupidly checked my work email today (phone was next to me, really don't know why I did it) to find my line manager has palmed a heap of really tricky urgent work on me because he is too tired! Sad I've not even started my handover notes yet and all ready had a ton of work to do this week which needs doing by thursday so not sure how I am going to fit it all in Sad

Naturegirl82 · 17/11/2013 23:02

Probably a really stupid question but how are people getting free nappies?

extracrunchy · 17/11/2013 23:03

I just remembered I don't have to go to work tomorrow!! (Sorry, Nature, bit mean of me!) Officially on maternity leave BUT still checking emails as am a bit obsessed...
Where are the freebie nappies coming from??

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 17/11/2013 23:06

Ello ladies!

Just checking in before bed, going to Westfield tomorrow to get the bits I need for my hospital bag, as you have all inspired me!

Hope everyone okay, another hope you're home again soon.

Feeling a bit less like a mentalist today, so you all helped me cheer up - thanks you gorgeous bunch.

itsonlyapapermoon · 18/11/2013 02:53

Hope everyone's doing well. Just got back from my 33wk scan to check if my placenta had moved up (it has) and the sonographer joked that DS "looks like he's been in a good paddock" lol, and is already measuring around 6lb 10oz. DH was a 9 pounder, so hopefully this baby won't be huge:) My other 3 (previous marriage) were all ok sizes (2 were 7lb 3oz, one was 6lb 14ozs) so I don't know how I'll go if he's a bigg'un!! :D The others were all born at 38 weeks as well so maybe this one might follow suit and arrive before Xmas. They've changed my due date from 3rd Jan to the 31st Dec...which is the day PIL arrive here from the UK!

extracrunchy · 18/11/2013 07:08

Only that's brilliant news about your placenta! Must be a relief. Baby sounds like a healthy size Smile

Mac2014 · 18/11/2013 07:13

Just checking in.

nature hope today goes ok. You can't do everything, so don't. Prioritise what you need to do and give the rest back ... With a 'happy to do it next week, but unrealistoc with current priorities!'
Obvs I have no idea, but if you're too efficient it willjust keep coming and you'll be (more) exhausted.

another hope you're ok.
