Oh sultana what a nightmare! I would be stressing too. You really need your space with a new baby and DH and not have to worry about visitors. Is there not any way she can visit the month after once you're settled in to a bit of a routine with baby and spent time as a family? I really feel for you Sad

Frizz sounds like you've had a lovely weekend. I wish someone would come and clean my house haha. Did they enjoy the markets? I really want to go as it's literally 10 minutes walk from my flat but I can't walk that far because of the stupid SPD Hmm I need German sausage!!!

Managed to move quite a few bits in to the new house today after traffic had died down. I'm excited to be fully moved in next Sunday now! Just ordered a new rug for our bedroom from urban outfitters as it's 20% off everything at the moment. Can't wait to make it all nice and homely and get the nursery painted and order some furniture! Grin

Sultanajo · 01/12/2013 22:12

flyaway our car seat clicks and the bits go green each time, but still wobbles around.... Hope you get yours sorted!

Thanks ladies. Cant stop her coming over as she lives abroad and can only take holiday at certain times. However, she will be staying with other family who live 5 mins down the road from us, so its not quite as intense as actually staying with us. But because she is only over for two weeks she will want to be here a lot of the time I am sure.... Have planted the seed of paternity leave with DH - think he thought I was joking.... Still, I feel a bit better potentially having that as an option. My SIL who is a nurse has apparently already told MIL of the dangers of smoking around babies, which is positive, so hoping that is going to be much less of an issue!

Feeling a bit better about things after a little cry in the bathroom....

chocoloulou33 · 01/12/2013 22:16

mythree I am 35 weeks now. So rly not long to get organised.
I've been in a lot of pain 2nite with what feels like a water infection but thats the pain I got when all this started. But I've also had it this week since leaving hospital and it did calm down after half a day. I rly hope it buggers off. Am so uncomfortable and rly dont wanna go back into hospital. As pain was starting I started to pack hospital bags as I worried I wouldn't be prepared if I had to go in. Have had to stop though as pain got too bad. Oh been asleep as he ran a half marathon 2day and he's just left to go to work. So just me the cat and 2 sleeping girls.
sultana hope ur ok. I know what u mean with the whole family member staying when baby is due. I have the same problem with oh's best mate who comes from leeds so we don't see him that often but he wants to stay a week over xmas. As in over the whole xmas week. Me trying to say that xmasnis a family time and we also happen to be expecting a baby means its not great timing. But I then get accused of being selfish. Grrrr men. Hope your dh understands how ur feeling x
hope all ok with you frying def sounds like ur on your way and should have a baby in your arms soon. Eek how exciting.
only hope your dd is better. Hate it when my little one is poorly.
Thanks for all the belated birthday wishes. Would just like to announce this is my last pregnancy lol. It was going to be anyway but now im like 100% sure. Oh and I will have 4 between us. 2 girls 2 boys and I think that's just lovely lol. No way I will go thru this again. Its nothing like pregnancy with dd. I feel like such a moaner but in total I have anaemia, piles, thrush, constant painful heartburn, water infection and kidney stones. Yep think thats it. B4 I was pregnant I was normal honest!!! Oh forgot about the baby being breech and the back and hip pain at night. Ok someone shoot me now lol. Any advice on the heartburn though would be seriously great. I take gaviscon but feel like I od on them. Doesnt seem to matter what I eat or drink. By evening I'm in agony and also wake up in night with horrible sicky reflux. Am sure ive seen that a few of ur suffering with this also. Ok rant over. Time to go pee for the billionth time today ...

Felix90 · 01/12/2013 22:25

Choco the only thing that seems to work for me for heartburn is drinking milk. Even gaviscon and rennies don't work at all! Really hope you're feeling better soon. Sounds like you've managed to suffer with everything possible with this pregnancy!!

Sultanajo · 01/12/2013 22:38

choco your DHs mate coming at Xmas is a major pain in the ass! Seriously! Who would even think of that being acceptable with a baby on the way! FFS! Poor you!

So sorry you are still in such pain too. Not surprised you have had enough now! Ice cream works as a quick fix for heartburn for me, but only lasts for a short while, but the effect is immediate. Gaviscon liquid has a longer lasting effect, but I have to sleep sitting upright and still have to take more through the night. I was prescribed the gaviscon advance liquid - rennies and tablets don't touch it any more. It sucks! Hope you get some relief....

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 01/12/2013 22:45

quacko sort of glad the fecking Boots website isn't doing it only to spite me. I get SO fucking cross when websites trying to flog you stuff don't work - there are millions of places to buy things, people, I will just go somewhere else if you can't make it work properly/easily.

choco I would not stand for a mate being in my house over Christmas - especially not when heavily pregnant. It's the last thing you need, you've had such a rough time of it. Heartburn - paging toby who had something prescribed for her - Omeprazole? Is that right?

sultana Can you set visiting times for MIL? I.e. 'why don't you come round for lunch every day, then we can see if we're all up for a walk in the park afterwards, before you go back to relatives for dinner' - that way you won't be surprised by her 'dropping in' and disturbing you? Would that help?

I am raging at myself today - I have become so clumsy. I drop around 60-70% of the things I pick up, which means trying to bend to pick things up all the time, which hurts. I have never ever been like this, and it's really starting to get on my tits. I also managed to knock half a bottle of beer over my laptop earlier - luckily got it dried off and so far no harm done. I don't understand why my hands won't do as they're told.

Sultanajo · 01/12/2013 23:00

humpty I am with you on the dropping stuff! I dropped a whole pack of Xmas cards on the floor earlier, followed by tons of veg scraps and salsa all over the kitchen floor as I attempted to tidy the kitchen after lunch and don't get me started on the number of baby grows and tiny mittens I dropped between the washing machine and tumble dryer! As you say, it really hurts to bend down now!

MIL shouldn't in theory drop by unannounced as she wont have a car while over here. I will make sure DH communicates to arrange visits as much as possible....

Felix90 · 01/12/2013 23:02

Humpty I'm the same and OH thinks it's hilarious. I keep walking in to things too! I've knocked over every drink I've had at my 2 NCT classes and it's so embarrassing Blush

Felix90 · 01/12/2013 23:07

I'm just looking up nursery furniture at the moment and wondering what everyone else has gone for if you've got it sorted already? I really don't like white furniture but not keen on a lot of other stuff too. We like the metropolis set from Mamas and Papas but I hate the modern handles on the drawers and wardrobe! The only ones I really really like is the Highbury set from Next but it's pretty pricey...

chocoloulou33 · 01/12/2013 23:15

Thanks ladies. I cant have milk or ice cream as have bit of a dairy intolerance. The thought of milk makes me feel rly ill. I will def try the gaviscon liquid instead of the tablets. If that doesnt work I may go to docs and ask. Just feel like I'm making a fuss going in over heartburn when so much else is going on.
Am still rly struggling 2nite with the burning pain in bladder
Only seems to ease off for an hour after painkillers but then is back. Just need to get thru the night and get the girls to school in morning and see how things are.

Glad u can all see my point with oh's best mate situation. The problem is hes recently split with his long term partner and has had to move into a friends place. His parents live in spain but he cant afford to go over there over xmas and they not coming here. He doesnt get on with his brother so hmmm apparently now we r closest thing hes got. I feel so guilty but do not feel that close with him like oh does as only met him handful of times and yes hes lovely and our kids love him but aaghhh its xmas and I do not want him in my house when I bring my new baby home. Another chat needed with oh about this I think. Right I need to find enough energy to get the girks uniform ready for morning and do packed lunches then I can collapse in bed....

MrsVDB · 02/12/2013 04:41

enormouse it's Philips avent electric comfort, down from £115 to £61 after the 20% off

breast pump

MrsVDB · 02/12/2013 05:06

Omg frying how exciting! Hope your ok :)

felix I had also chosen the highbury but at baby show bought <a class="break-all" href="https://m.mamasandpapas.com/product.php?sku=cbma02700&fromsite=www.mamasandpapas.com/product-mia-cottoddler-bed-white/cbma02700/type-i/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">mamas and papas mia I think you really need to see them in person as some look cheap/ are really wobbly. Was still planning on highbury wardbrobe and changer but after planning the room on PowerPoint (thanks humpty) I've realised I can't get all the furniture in as our 4 door wardbrobe is also in that room. Having to give up on baby wardbrobe :( and think highbury chest might not go with out wardbrobe and white cot (but would have been fine if I had wardbrobe too). As that room still needs coving, skirting, carpet and decorating ill probably leave it a few weeks before deciding

humpty I had the same issue with boots while trying to use the 45% off quidco voucher

Ok I know all I do is tell you all about sales but gap has 40% off everything today including sale stuff- code superdeal

Percypiglet · 02/12/2013 08:06

Hello all, hang in there everyone, not long til B day now!!

I've had a new pregnancy thing this weekend - the baby twanging my ribs, not nice at all.......DHs get away easy with this pregnancy and birth thing.

5 days left at work...phew.

extracrunchy · 02/12/2013 08:26

MrsV you are a mine of useful informationGrin
So I'm shopping in Gap today!

Felix90 · 02/12/2013 08:53

MrsV I like the sleigh beds! That is nice. M&P have up to 50% off at the moment but it ends today and we are awaiting £900 back from our flat deposit so I can't buy any furniture until that comes back! Very frustrating as I've seen a set that's reduced to 400 odd quid and I don't know when they will next have a sale on (probably not before baby arrives). I do love the Highbury stuff but it does look quite bulky... I will have to take some measurements.

Kept waking up last night with itchy hands and feet! They are still itching now. Has anyone else had this? It's doing my head in.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 02/12/2013 08:58

MrsV you are a mine of sales info! I love it!

felix we have a mishmash - the East Coast Angelina Cot Bed (via Tesco, who had it on special at about £70 rather than £140, then with a code and cashback, made it £48.95 Grin), in pine colour, then an eBay bargain changing table (£10) in a different pine, and my Mum is repurposing a unit which has two doors at the top, then drawers underneath by repainting it for us. No wardrobe, as I don't think I'll use one much, prefer folded baby clothes.
I want a little folding table to go next to my nursing chair (oh, that was £16 off eBay, beige and pine ish - yet another colour of wood) but other than that, I've gone with what was cheap/available. We have curtains from my MIL (single glazed room, facing road) because they are interlined, so thick and dark, but they're a very adult pattern - and don't match the lampshade. This baby will have NO CHANCE of being able to dress itself in matching colours Grin.

percy I had that last night - it's quite... uncomfortable, isn't it?

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 02/12/2013 09:00

Oh, and felix is it the palms of hands and soles of feet? If so, call your midwife, they will want to check liver function for obstetric cholestasis. I've had all over itching, but never on hands/feet. It can be quite serious, so do ring today.

choco I'd go to GP - why suffer more? They can cure heartburn, even if they can't help with the kidney/bladder issues. I'm sure they'd understand! Oh, and say you're pregnant when you ring for appt - they see you faster.

Felix90 · 02/12/2013 09:14

Thanks Humpty, I did just do the classic thing of googling and freaking myself out but didn't know if I was just being concerned over nothing. I had itchy toes and between fingers a few weeks ago but it wasn't that bad and went away. Now it's the arch of my feet and palms and in between fingers spreading up my arms. I'll have a bath then give MW a call!

fryingpantoface · 02/12/2013 09:48

Loads of posts! Sultana, def try limiting it to only seeing her a couple of hours every other day.you'll be shattered.

Felix - def go to the Dr.

we don't have a nursery as such. We got a space saver cot from kiddicare, plastic drawers and cast offs from ds :)

still pregnant, bh have died down now happily! Ds is really grumpy. So far my mat leave sucks

OP posts:
littlealien01 · 02/12/2013 09:51

whoever it was with heartburn try loveheart sweets. bizarre but its worked for me a few times :)

Sultanajo · 02/12/2013 09:56

choco I would see your gp re heartburn so u can get it on prescription as it ain't cheap and I have got thru a giant bottle in a week!

Well finally these elusive braxton hicks have kicked in big time! Started yesterday evening when I noticed my bump was majorly lopsided and bulging on one side and really tight and hard, which then subsided. However, woke at 2am and couldn't get back to sleep til 5am and had tons of BH in that time. Cue me worrying and googling....! Managed to get about two hours sleep since then and BH still happening. Gonna get up and have breakfast and see if they stop. They don't hurt and nothing else has changed so not too concerned...yet! It is just the sudden amount of them that has made me stop and think....

Sultanajo · 02/12/2013 09:58

felix I itch all over including hands and feet. Mw took bloods to check and all was fine (I assume - didn't hear anything) so its definitely worth giving your mw a buzz just in case....

Sultanajo · 02/12/2013 10:00

frying yay for your bun still being in your oven and the bh calming down! Phew! Sorry your mat leave has sucked so far....no fun!

TobyLerone · 02/12/2013 10:23

Gah! So much to catch up on!

DH has been using my laptop all weekend (it had to be mine as it's a Windows machine and he has a Mac Hmm ) and what with the MN mobile site issues I've been keeping away because it was awful to use from my phone.
Still on my phone, though, as too lazy to cross the room for my laptop :o So can't scroll back too far, but I'll try to remember as best I can...

Sultana, grrr at MIL visit, but glad she's not actually staying with you. That's something, at least!

loulou, sorry you're still feeling rough. Prescription omeprazole is the only thing which worked for my heartburn, but some GPs are reluctant to prescribe it. I only got it after going to 3 different GPs and having been on it pre-pregnancy anyway. But some will do it without problems. You can but ask!

frying, you've had quite the dramatic weekend! Glad things have settled a bit for you.

How are you doing, another? Still with us?

V envious of all the nurseries. One thing we don't have in this house is enough bedrooms for all the people, so the baby will be in our room until we move, which will need to be next year.

We don't have an isofix base yet, but we'll get one very soon. My mum wants to buy it, but she's in America until Wednesday, so I'll wait for her to get back.

I laughed at you being a tramp magnet, Humpty :o

I'm trying to get on with knitting more baby things this week. I'm halfway through a cardigan and want to do a couple of hats. I also owe my nephew a hat, and DD.

Scan on Wednesday, and consultant straight after. Perhaps then I can actually pack my hospital bag :o

Felix90 · 02/12/2013 10:24

Spoke to my midwife and she's going to take my blood at 12.20 today! Last time she took my blood she was terrible at it and my vein kept collapsing and left a huge bruise which didn't go away for three weeks! Arghhh Confused
