Jealous of all the maternity leave! I'm the same and still getting piled with lots of urgent work but I've decided I'm not going to let it stress me as much as I can and am only doing what I can. I don't like my job so why let it stress me

Frizz1986 · 18/11/2013 07:21

nature i honestly cant remember where i got free things from. I just googled freebie baby stuff and signed up to loads of websites and seemed to have a few bits. Although some of my freebies are left overs from my sister too so it has all kind of merged into one pile.
Make sure you dont overexert yourself at work. Just do what you can (without rushing yourself) and give the rest back saying that you unfortunately didnt have time to complete. I am finally at the point where I feel that I can say that.

only great placenta news!

extracrunchy · 18/11/2013 07:24

Second everyone else Nature about being too useful - I was being walked all over at work and doing far far too much (and still struggling to cut the strings now) because people just got used to me always being efficient. You've got a great excuse to slow right down. They'll get used to it!

Sultanajo · 18/11/2013 07:27

papermoon great scan news! Fingers crossed for an early arrival!!! Wink

nature ugh! The number of times I have stupidly checked my work emails on my phone on a sunday and felt by blood pressure shoot right up...! Really hope today goes better than you expect it to....

another really hope you are ok. We are gonna need to think of ways to keep you entertained at this rate! .... hmmm...

Had a horrible dream last night about DH who then turned into my loser ex! Trouble is, had the dream a few mins before I woke up and I feel really upset and pissed off about it! Soooo weird how strong my feelings are considering it was a dream FFS! Feel as though I am gonna be grumpy and pissed off all day.....really hope that feeling wears off....Hmm

My mate, who was due nearly two weeks ago had her fourth sweep yesterday and at midday she was finally told she was 2-3cms. She wasnt having any contractions at that point. So am on tenderhooks now and really hoping she will have had it! Grin

Frizz1986 · 18/11/2013 08:18

Ooo sultana how exciting.

Am sat here crying as dh has just text to say his agency has called him to say that the school he has just arrived at for his 'job until xmas' now only need him for one day not until the end of term. Do they not realise how awful it is to promise a 5 week job to someone who has been unemployed for over 2 months and then just take it away!
Just beyond gutted right now. He must be feeling so low as we were both so excited that we were going to have some more money coming in and might be able to buy some things for the baby instead of relying on parents to help us out.
Need to just buck up and get positive again.......something will come up sometime soon.

Sultanajo · 18/11/2013 08:31

Oh frizz! Thats just unbelievably disappointing! Poor you and Mrfrizz! What an emotional roller coaster you guys have been on.....Huge hugs! Wine Thanks

TobyLerone · 18/11/2013 08:45

Found you!

I've read everything but as usual it's not staying in Blush

another, sorry you're having such a tough time Flowers

Boo to PITA PILs, to not yet being on maternity leave, to having too much to do and to terrible twos.

Yay to maternity leave, nesting, scans and bad dreams.

Sorry about your DH's job, frizz :(
That must be hard. What a load of cuntpuffins Angry

I'm exhausted after the weekend! We moved our bedroom around which has given us much more room, so we can fit a crib (and even a cot, if we don't manage to move house in time for the baby to move into a cot). Chucked out a load of stuff, got a load of crap up in the loft, basically worked our arses off!
Then I made a minion cake for my nephew's birthday party yesterday, and we spent the afternoon there. DD managed to lose her BlackBerry yesterday, which gave me The Rage!

I've been awake since 4am, so I'm not holding out much hope for today to be all that productive.

Sultanajo · 18/11/2013 09:11

Toby that sounds like a full on weekend! How did the cake go down? You deserve a chill out today big time!

Anyone else particularly itchy? Bump, boobs, hands and feet are usually itching by the end of the day, but during the last week I have started itching all day and its everything except my face and scalp. Bit concerned about that liver condition you can get, although dont have any other symptoms. Midwife in the morning so will mention it to her....

TobyLerone · 18/11/2013 09:17

He loved the cake and actually ate a fair bit of it, which, considering he is The Amazing Non-Eating Toddler, was quite flattering :o
Yes, I have to get my validation from a 2 year old.

I've been itchy all the way through, so I know how annoying it is. Hope the midwife can set your mind at ease, sultana.

Sultanajo · 18/11/2013 09:24

Aw bless him! Thats very much validation! Two yr olds dont lie! Grin

Thanks Toby! You know when you suddenly realise how much something has revved up and how that then makes you paranoid its the rare condition.... Everytime DH hugs me I make him scratch my back - the best feeling in the world!!! Grin Hopefully its just normal pregnancy itching....Hmm

TobyLerone · 18/11/2013 09:30

:o right from almost the very beginning of this pregnancy, every night when we go to bed I turn on to my side and make DH scratch my back all over!
They might as well make themselves useful, right? Wink

Sultanajo · 18/11/2013 09:39

Grin Too right!

TobyLerone · 18/11/2013 09:42

I think I've managed to get a picture of the cake on my profile.

Naturegirl82 · 18/11/2013 09:43

Thanks for the support. I think the thing that has annoyed me the most is my managers reason for passing it to me is that he is too tired and had friends over at the weekend! Grr. Seriously considering bringing my mat leave forward by a week or two. Just starting to feel overwhelmed by how much stuff we need to get done on the house and worrying baby will come early and we won't have time over Christmas.

Sorry about you Dh Frizz.

BookTart · 18/11/2013 09:45

Morning all!

frizz I'm gutted for you and DH. What an awful thing for them to do :(

papermoon 6lb 10oz at 33 weeks?! Bloody hell! Are scan measurements reliable, or is it like fundal measurements?

Hats off to everyone that is doing anything at all. I have been unable to sleep for more than 30 minutes at a time for about a week now, and have had to come back to work today. I am knackered. I feel a bit pathetic, because although I'm massive I've been very lucky health-wise throughout and really have nothing to moan about. Someone give me a slap!

TobyLerone · 18/11/2013 09:48

Don't panic, book! Apparently scan weights are notoriously inaccurate.

No slapping from me, though. I can't even be bothered to get off my arse to go to the bank, so anyone still at work gets nothing but kudos from me.

BandontheFun · 18/11/2013 10:10

I have 3 weeks left at work, only work 4 days a week, but have 7 days holiday to take before, so think I'm gonna just work two days a week until I stop! :)

I'm kinda not feeling ready to stop, work its pretty easy so no stress or anything to get away from and have pretty much been told if u can't do something just leave it and my replacement is trained now. Seeing how much u guys have to do makes me feel pretty lucky.

Sultanajo · 18/11/2013 10:16

nature that would piss me off beyond belief! Suck it up - your choice to have friends over and knacker yourself out! Grrrrr!

toby will check out your pic when I boot up the laptop later....bet it looks fab!

Just forcing myself off the sofa to get myself ready to go out and meet my mate for lunch.....come on sultana you can do it! Grin

Naturegirl82 · 18/11/2013 10:19

Very jealous band! My work is full of stress and tight deadlines and the problem is that I usually manage way more than others in the team but I just don't have the energy anymore I don't think.

I have to give 28 days notice to move the date of my mat leave which if I move holidays as well I could finish on the 6th. So only three weeks. Would have loads to do in terms of handover in that time but I'm so tempted.

MrsVDB · 18/11/2013 10:39

Wow cake looks fab toby

BandontheFun · 18/11/2013 10:40

Nature if you think you could manage u definitely should stop sooner why prolong the stress! The only downside is u miss the time at the other side which is a pain but u have to do what's best for you. I kinda keep thinking even tho I feel ok now, I'm only gonna get bigger and slower so best to be off for a bit when I'm still mobile to get the last min bits sorted.

One of the major reasons I'm wanting to stop is the weather is only gonna get worse and I can't be trusted not to fall on bad ice or snow so better for me to be sitting at home than out and about holding on to frozen railings trying not to fall! DH is particularly stressy about this, we always start every winter with fall watch, last year I think my total averaged at least 2 falls a week. Can't seem to stay on my feet! Had a fall at 22 weeks and know how I felt then can't imagine falling now!

Toothfairy78 · 18/11/2013 10:40

Oh frizz! Am disappointed for both of you! HUGS! HUGS!HUGS!

Am currently at home having a slouchy morning off. Turns out my ranty email worked. The guy who let me down last week got pulled into dept. Head's office and had his priorities set for him. Spoke with said guy just now who said he had to drop everything for it including some urgent thing so I pointed out I'm supposed to be doing urgent high priority stuff too.

We have loads of guys round here who think they're the only one who's overloaded and in a lot of cases it turns out they only have one maybe two jobs on the go which is more than they can focus on. Grr!

Anyway am pleased my ranty PREGGO POWER (TM) email worked! Grin!

Naturegirl82 · 18/11/2013 10:56

Yay for the preggo power tooth

band I wasn't taking my full allowance anyway so could still come back to work on the same date so no loss of time with baby. Would just mean two weeks extra smp but I think we would cope with that. I've text Dh to see what he thinks (although I know he will agree it's a good idea) so just think I'm going to do. I think all the extra stress we have had with the baby having a problem has changed my resolution to stay in.

Bluecarrot · 18/11/2013 11:12

Hello everyone :) 33 weeks today and it occurred to me this am ( about 4am!) that this could be my last pregnancy. Made me feel a bit sad! We do plan to have more but you never know... I love being pregnant.

Sorry to hear so many struggling with work. Just try your best to focus on all the months of scrummy cuddles that are ahead!

Time has just flown in here and I'm nowhere near organised for anything ( except my labour /1 night hospital bag is ready) Nursery and my bedroom still needs rest of plasterboard put up, then plastered and painted and carpet down.... I haven't managed any sewing or more blanket making or gift making. Though I intend to spend today doing something crafty... I'm just not out of bed yet though as night time insomnia has kicked in. I can sleep through hammering/electric screw driving etc in the room right above me in the day time though!

I bought some depend pants for first few days and feme pads from mothercare to go with them. Padsicles will be made for home next month but I'm only using aloe Vera in mine as will have tucks pads.

For baby bath, I bought a mebby tub that looks like a bucket. It does up to 2 years old apparently.

Need to order raspberry leaf tea capsules and some clary sage then that's me done shopping!

BandontheFun · 18/11/2013 11:15

Loving the preggo power!

Toby the cake looks ace! So your gonna be one of those mums that make other mums feel bad about store bought cake! Lol. Grin

That's great Nature win win situation. And more rest can only be good for you! :)
