tarka glad things are improving....enjoy your peppa pig day! Grin

blue yes we are gonna book a private room for no other reason than DH can then stay with me. If I went on the main ward he would be kicked out and I am not sure I could handle that the way I am feeling. We get a full refund if we dont need it/use it, so I think its worth it!

Seen midwife. My next appointment will be with useless GP as midwife is away and then have my last one on xmas eve!!!

My midwife is lovely, BUT once again I had to prompt her. Last time she said we would do my birth plan this session and it wasnt until I brought it up again that she said "oh yes, good idea, lets do that now".... So birth plan is done. I also told her about the mega itch fest and she actually took bloods to check for the liver disorder just in case, so thats good. Bubs is still head down thankfully - she had to double check as apparently his little bum is quite boney so not feeling too dissimilar to his head. He is taking after me as I had a boney ass as a child. Shame it didnt stay that way....Blush

Asked her about raspberry leaf tea. She said she wouldnt recommend it until 37 weeks but she has heard good things about it. She couldnt tell me how much to take however....got a couple of weeks to do research.

Its bloody freezing out, but still wearing my flip flops as my feet get too hot and swollen in anything else. Got the breastfeeding nct class we missed tonight - will be daunting gatecrashing another class but at least we will have each other.....Hmm

Sultanajo · 19/11/2013 10:24

frying omg! I am laughing so hard! Thats hilarious! Grin Am slightly jealous too as after eating too much last night, everything has slowed right up and I suspect I am in for some constipation. Grrrr! Only myself to blame this time.....

TobyLerone · 19/11/2013 10:27

Dried apricots, people. They're delicious and nutritious!

fryingpantoface · 19/11/2013 10:27

Thank fuck I've not killed the thread... What a post to end on!

Yey for birth plans being done, and little boney bums.

good luck at the breastfeeding class!

ha ha frying that's really cheered me up.

Can I get a vote on this? I've buggered up my 34 week appointment, so if I go when I've booked it, I will be 32+6. (I can't count, apparently). Is this a big problem, do you think? I'd like to blame pregna-brain, but I suspect it's just how I always am. Sigh.

MrsGSR · 19/11/2013 10:43

Sultana things have slowed down here too Blush I think it's the iron tablets, I'm not a bit fan of apricots but might have to get some!

enjoying can you ring your midwife and ask? I realised the other day that my midwife told me she'd see me again at 34 weeks then booked me in for 35. I'm going to pop into the surgery and speak to reception as I've got to sort out my whopping cough jab anyway.

Tarka Glad your DD is feeling better, hopefully you wont be too far behind!

I'm exhausted, was meal planning at 2am as apparently I'm becoming nocturnal. I've got one more bundle of baby clothes arriving this week then I need to wash it all and pack baby's hospital bag. Getting slightly impatient already!

TobyLerone · 19/11/2013 10:47

Does it really matter what weeks our midwife appointments are in? I would have thought that as long as you're seeing her on a regular basis, 32+ should be fine. If she really needs to see you at 34 weeks for some reason, you can make another appointment.

MrsG, I hate dried fruit. And apricots. But it turns out that dried apricots are delicious. I'm having to limit myself to a handful a day, in case of 'undesirable' results.
Lots of people I know have suggested dried mango, but I hate mango.

MrsGSR · 19/11/2013 11:02

Ohh, I love mango. I might try that :)

A few years back my mum bought snow chains to attach to her shoes (she had bone cancer so falling could have been really dangerous) I can't decide if it's paranoid or sensible to buy some just in case this winter is as snowy as they say it will be!

TobyLerone · 19/11/2013 11:09

DH has some of those. He says they're great. I forget what they're called.

BookTart · 19/11/2013 11:40

Snow blue?! Where the devil are you?

I hope you all feel better soon Tarka

Good to see you choco and MrABC - you're both WHH as well aren't you? Are you, me and toby all going to eb in at the same time?!

sultana - did you take your sample in the jelly mould again? You know how that went last time!

Loving the update frying Grin

I am at work. I don't want to be. That is pretty much it atm. After doing naff all yesterday, the baby is breakdancing today so feeling a bit less worried. Just hanging on for lunch time now...

AnotherStitchInTime · 19/11/2013 11:43

Ha ha frying thanks for the tmi Grin

Tarka glad the D&V is moving through quickly.

My mum swears by those over shoe grips for icy weather MrsG.

Glad appt went well sultana

choco glad your DH is making amends.

Still in hospital, bleeding settling down so hopefully will be out in a few days if all stays stable.

enjoyingscience · 19/11/2013 11:55

Fingers crossed another.

I've got the worlds least sexy boots from lands end for winter. They are truly minging, but have the most impressive grips on them, and they are mega thermal. If I didn't have them I'd consider gripper/chain things.

Also loving apricots here. I need to keep DS away from them, he would eat a whole packet if he could.

TarkaTheOtter · 19/11/2013 12:06

Are you keeping yourself busy another or are you bored senseless in there?

Peppa pig channel is great but dd is not enjoying the many advert breaks and spends the whole of each one shouting "PIG PIG PEEEEG".

MrsVDB · 19/11/2013 12:07

Ha ha frying that made me chuckle. I was debating posting about being more regular recently!

nature I think it's you with the carpel tunnel too isn't it? My hands also don't tingle but just really ache. They are really swollen too (not feet so not worried about pe). Had to remove wedding rings few weeks ago and bought a temporary cheapy ring which turns my finger green it was huge but now is leaving dent marks too. This is normal right?

Can we book private rooms in nhs hospitals? I hadn't thought about that but would consider discharging myself if dh can't stay so a room sounds much more practical and safe does anyone know roughly how much this would be?

TarkaTheOtter · 19/11/2013 12:07

I also have unsexy snow boots. I've heard Aldi do good ones if anyone is thinking of some cheap ones for this year only.

TarkaTheOtter · 19/11/2013 12:15

My hospital lets you buy a private ensuite room if they are free. Costs £120 for the duration of your stay. I did it last time and it was well worth it. Dh still went home though as I wanted him to be well rested and useful in te morning.

Sultanajo · 19/11/2013 12:33

book no it was a proper sample pot this time! but the lid on this one seemed dodgy. It didnt leak! Hurray!!!

another thats great they will hopefully let you out again soon! Gives you something to aim for! Hope you are finding ways to entertain yourself....

Private rooms at our hospital are £99 per night (I think) so would only go for one, max two I would imagine. However, if end up in there for longer I suspect we would be needing closer monitoring and therefore need to be on the main ward anyway....

Grrrr, cant remember what else has been said... oh yes, dried apricots! I do have some in the cupboard but cant face opening them and things are....Blush ....moving along all of a sudden so its all good!

Appointment wise, my 37 week check with actually be at 38 weeks because of the appointment they have given me, so I wouldnt worry too much about a week or so difference and if they need to see you at 34 weeks for any reason you can always get another appointment....

MrsVDB · 19/11/2013 13:00

Thanks, that is a lot more reasonable than I was expecting! It hasn't been mentioned to me yet but I'm only 31w so plenty more time I suppose. Stupid question but do they let you, baby and dh all stay in the room?

GummiBear74 · 19/11/2013 13:18

sultana, I found this page about raspberry leaf the other day. It was written a while ago, I think, but gives some quantities and describes some research, which I found encouraging.

frying, if you can't describe your poos here, where can you describe them Grin

I've been feeling very glamorous myself, having just taken delivery of a waterproof sheet for our bed (recommended by our doula in case of water breakage etc). I didn't even know they made them in super king size!

toby, I'm with you on mango - everyone else seems to like it, but I just don't get it!

Private rooms at our hospital are £75 per night, but you can't book them. I'm really hoping we'll be able to get one, but I guess it depends on circumstances.

I have things called Yaktrax to go on my boots, but as I'm already struggling to reach my feet, I don't know whether I'll be able to put them on!

TarkaTheOtter · 19/11/2013 13:19

You and baby definitely yes. At my hospital they wouldn't officially let dh stay overnight even in a private room but you would be much more likely to get away with it than on a ward. I know some let dh stay but at best it'll probably be in a reclining chair unless you are somewhere very swish.

MrsGSR · 19/11/2013 13:21

Rooms are £102 per night here, but visiting hours are the same so I don't think we're going to bother. Hopefully we'll be out pretty quickly, DH is taking both weeks of paternity, his mum has told her boss that the second I go into labour she's coming to stay for a week and my Dad and sister are going to come up as soon as they can after baby's born, so there will be loads of people to wait on me!

TarkaTheOtter · 19/11/2013 13:24

Thanks for the link gummi. It's really reassuring. I was hoping to be able to up my consumption a bit as it's so nice.

fryingpantoface · 19/11/2013 13:42

I'm pleased I've made you all smile :)

I've been looking online at baby stuff. We've got some stuff which we lent to my SIL, so until we get them back to see the state of them, our hands are tied a bit. She doesn't have the best track record for looking after our stuff... so we'll see what happens.

Still, bottles and dummies are coming in at 34.90 at Boots. DS would only use the MAM bottles and dummies so we're anticipating the same. At least we'll be going into the cost of it with our eyes wide open
