Fingers crossed you're okay feather Glad you're going to get checked out. Given your previous birth it might just be that you're one of throes weird, slightly lucky women who doesn't get pain when dilating! Also those large poos could have been a glamourous pre-birth clear out. Keep us updated!

alyssa fingers crossed for you Grin

Welcome crunchy! You've wandered in just at the right time for total TMI Wink

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 16/11/2013 14:02

mumof2boys it's my 2nd stage that's fast....I tend not to realise I'm very far along and put off leaving the house.

My 1st was a 12 hour labour from first twinge until baby on chest, but the intense contractions only started in the last 30 mins and pushing stage was 10 mins.

2nd labour started in the middle of the night around 3am,I slept through most of it,waking to contractions and falling back to sleep,at 7:30am I woke up properly, called the MW at 8am (who said to come in at around 9am) at 8:15am DP called his sister to come and take us to the MW led unit (2 mins away) we arrived there at 8:22am,at 8:32 DS was born.

Unfortunately the MW led unit has closed down,so the nearest hospital is 40mins away...leaving my MW panicking...

Featherbag · 16/11/2013 14:28

Well I'm here and all hooked up, I am having contractions but they're not sure yet if it's labour, 20 minutes on the monitor and the MW's going to have a look. I haven't done any pruning!!!

mumoftwoboysS · 16/11/2013 14:33

That's a shame the mw led unit has closed- really wish there was one close to us. Closest one is about 35 mins away and closest hospital is 15 mins (if driving like a demon) I was a bit the same, didn't think I was as far gone- mine also seems to speed up towards the latter stages. My contractions also aren't regular in established labour which I found out the hard way when heeding mw advice to stay at home a little longer. My 2nd or pushing stage pretty much didn't exist! One push and head out, second and baby out Ito DH and my hands! (Outside the hospital doors!) so I'm concerned my current mw isn't going to take me seriously when I say I'm worried about getting there in time. DH is terrified of the idea of a home birth and although I'm more keen on it I would still rather be somewhere where there is all medical staff/equipment to hand just in case....

mumoftwoboysS · 16/11/2013 14:38

Ooh feather good luck! Don't worry about your pruning-lol! I'm sure they're used to seeing all levels of shrubbery from nothing to a jungle Grin don't know why I bothered last time as I ended up having crap wiped off my nicely shaven leg by one poor mw after ds2 was born (I found out that yes you really can poo whilst having a baby!) so worrying about nicely shaven legs/fanjo paled into significance!

Stom91 · 16/11/2013 15:17

Welcome crunchy
Good luck feather hope you get sorted soon.

Hope all is going well clare

Went to BIL earlier. The house is so warm I was sweating and the heating hadn't been on! It's going to be so nice living there! At the mo is cold in our flat than it is outside! 3 weeks to go!!

Totally exhausted today. Just got back from shopping and goion to make dp do dinner. All I wana do is sleep!
The cold probably doesn't help.

Hope all those suffering feel Better sorry I haven't really caught up.

oh wonderful. I have started having pains. I am in the unlucky 35 week stage that this thread is jinxed by. can anyone explain what contractions feel like or what their pain was like in the start of labour for them if they've done this before? im gonna take some paracetamol and see if it helps Sad

PistachioTruffle · 16/11/2013 15:34

Nom,my vote was for the thread title about kittens too! Wink

I'm so convinced this baby will be late that if it turns up early or on time I think I'll keel over in shock.

Good luck Feather! Flowers

hope you're doing ok Whisper, ring the midwife for advice, that's what they're there for!

Alyssa1978 · 16/11/2013 15:38

Thanks nom

mum you're so right, either speed up or stop but either has got to be better than this.

whisper with ds1 the pain started in my thighs.
With ds2 I woke up with mild period type cramps that made my belly go hard and got worse over the course of the day.
What does yours feel like Hun?

Featherbag · 16/11/2013 15:45

Well I'm still on the monitor, but although I'm having contractions my cervix is still high and closed, so not in established labour. I'm going home as soon as baby cooperates by staying in one place long enough to get a continuous 20 minute trace, but with orders to come back if things change.

beth27123 · 16/11/2013 15:47

Good luck Feather! Whisper I hope you're okay!
I feel proud Im almost at 37 weeks :D.

NomDeClavier · 16/11/2013 16:03

Just to mix it up for whisper the pain was in my back last time!

clare8allthepies · 16/11/2013 16:32

Hi everyone, I wouldn't be holding your breath for any babies soon! Had an exam, cervix same as on Thursday and still quite far back. Had the tablet in about half 2 ish and having to stay on the monitor for 2 hours. Having a couple of crampy pains in the cervix area but nothing to make me think she's going to be on her way in the near future Angry

Glad to hear you're ok Feather tell that baby it's got 5 days more cooking!

Alyssa1978 · 16/11/2013 16:50

clare I'm still wishing you a speedy labour Hun.

BohemianRaspberry · 16/11/2013 16:53

Well we have the perfect test of what will push me into early labour now ... a fairly serious gas leak. On a weekend. With no gas engineer working a weekend.

WhisperMen · 16/11/2013 17:01

my pain is in the bottom right of my bump and my back. gets more crampy if I walk around. I can't work out what it is Sad my belly does go hard like with braxton hicks when it hurts though. Stupid confusing pregnancy.

Featherbag · 16/11/2013 17:02

Hope things progress quickly for you once they start clare!

I'm home, contractions are still going but irregular and not too painful. I really, really hope I get to Thursday!

Alyssa1978 · 16/11/2013 17:10

whisper general rule of thumb is if the pain stops when you're walking around then it's more likely braxton hicks, if its getting worse or still there when you're moving around then it's more likely to be real labour.
Keep an eye on length and how far apart etc they are and phone labour ward if they get too close and painful.

Alyssa1978 · 16/11/2013 17:11

Hope they slow down for you soon feather

Alyssa1978 · 16/11/2013 17:12

bohemian is there an emergency number Hun?

WhisperMen · 16/11/2013 17:22

I'm going to try a nap because I'm shattered. hopeful I shall wake and be pain free Grin

beth27123 · 16/11/2013 17:33

Whisper why don't you send them over to me? I'm heading to pick DP up from the I laws so we can make fajitas and he can put my gym ball up!

abcdemma · 16/11/2013 17:37

OMG it's all happening!! Here's hoping things slow down for feather and speed up for Clare
DP's anxious about me driving the 100 miles up to see the parents tomorrow but have assured him that there's been no "signs" yet, won't tell him about everyone having sudden onset happenings lol! It's my last time to go up before I shouldn't be venturing too far (37+4 tomorrow) so I'm determined!
Hope everyone has nice (uneventful) weekends Smile

WhisperMen · 16/11/2013 17:38

send what? the pains? I'm awfully confused nowConfused

itsliz · 16/11/2013 17:38

Oh god, it's all going on today!

Clare I really hope things start to speed up for you soon. We'll all be thinking of you and will be here to chat/ sympathise/ keep you entertained if you get too bored of waiting for things to happen Grin Good luck!

Feather Glad to hear that everything's ok and you're home safe and sound. Hope things calm down a bit for you but keep us updated either way! Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Whisper Hope you feel better for a bit of a rest. If not, make sure you phone the hospital just in case!

Bohemian You've got to be kidding?! Is there anywhere you can go to get away from it until things have been sorted?

My lower back and hips have been hurting since last night. Feeling sore and getting the odd twinge but I think it's just baby getting bigger and heavier and stretching everything rather than anything to worry about...
Got an evening of relaxing on the sofa watching films with DP, eating pizza and having a long soak in the bath to look forward to though, so hopefully that will make me feel better Smile
