Kitty that is my hospital too! What midwife unit are you talking about? I thought they had all been closed? I thought the nearest would be either Elgin or Dundee both so far away from me. Sad
They will let you go there if you go into labour naturally. If you have problems in pregnancy or need to be induced then you have no choice but go to amh.

ThreeFromDesire · 30/10/2013 14:52

Had scan, all going well, having another in three weeks Grin

Bought the stokke xplory in brown with carrycot already Blush will wait until we move before buying anymore but couldn't resist a bargain!

Any news from pjen?

kittygirl33 · 30/10/2013 14:55

Drama I was talking about the Aboyne unit, is it not still open? I thought it was to remain open until they had the new unit at Inverurie up and running? There is also a very successful unit at Montrose, which is supposed to be great, but it's too far away for me Sad DH and I sort of gulped yesterday when we saw the photos of blood etc at Aberdeen. I hate the way there is zero choice in this part of the country, there is no option for private care and there aren't even any private midwives. I'm not sure we could afford it even if there were, but it would be nice to have options to consider. It's nice to have someone else from this part of the world on Mumsnet though!

ohcluttergotme · 30/10/2013 15:05

Thanks ladygonegaga, will google hypnotherapy cd and see if I can download. Might be good that if I wake up in the small hours can put it in to get back to sleep. Seem to have so much on my mind that can't relax once I wake up.
Worrying about work, I started new post 6 months ago but within NHS so as I've been with them for 7 years it's continuos service.
My colleague started at the same time and our new manager took up post in July.
My colleague has new post and is leaving in 2 weeks and our manager is going to cover until post filled.
I feel that maybe I should tell manager sooner rather than 12 weeks as we will be working in same small office. Feel like she will not be happy as it is causing to cause her more stress as manager Hmm
It's so hard sometimes being female in the workplace as I feel guilty that I am going to be going in mat leave next year.

jaykay987 · 30/10/2013 15:26

congrats to all the scans and appointments. I've feeling very fidgety at the back of the bus. I went to gp last Wednesday.....Im waiting for a call on ny mobile from the midwife. I jump every time it rings! Grin
Although the call is only to make an appointment - so I hope they don't leave it much longer....my fear is they'll wait til Im 10 weeks to call me back!
I just learn to relax!

three - I an intrigued as to what you googled or what mailing list you ended up on to find that?! Grin. that is some pricey stuff!

That is rubbish for those that feel they are stuck with a rubbish hospital. FX it all works out for you.

highlandfling10 · 30/10/2013 15:59

Hiya
Had my first midwife apt today, I’m 9+3. Loved being able to talk about the pregnancy with someone!! The hospital where I had DD wasn't great so this time have elected to go to a smaller MLU where they have midwifes trained in hypnobirthing. It still has a SCBU and consultant care avail. Feeling so much happier about going there. Just hoping beyond hope that this wee bean stays sticky and I will have a positive birth story to share this time round.

Kitty – I am in Scotland too. Got some bloods done today – although they said if I wanted to think about it first I could get them done at the 12wk apt so could have done either.

Re the prams – we have a Uppababy Vista for DD – it’s a great 3 in one. Excellent suspension if you’re into Buggiefit/offroading in the park. Pretty pricey but we got it on sale. Noticed John Lewis have started stocking them so seeing them everywhere at the moment.

wispaxmas · 30/10/2013 16:14

threefrom, where did you get your xplory? I'm waiting for what will hopefully be some amazing after Christmas sales before I buy anything, but always on the lookout for deals :)

And wtf - a FENDI snowsuit?!

CleverOl10 · 30/10/2013 17:00

One week til booking in!!! Don't know why I'm getting so excited - I hate giving blood! But as highland said, I think its just being able to talk about the pregnancy with someone other than DH!

bludgerwitch · 30/10/2013 17:02

I think I'm going to go for an Babystyle Oyster Maxi - originally I wanted an iCandy Peach jogger but I've heard nothing but bad things about their customer service so I am wary.

We're moving within walking distance of the beach next month and that's pretty much where I walk the dog most of the time so I need a sand-worthy pram.

I'm planning on getting a Cosatto Supa as a buggy for getting around town and for navigating the airport.

bludgerwitch · 30/10/2013 17:02

clever - just to warn you, he took three full ampules off blood, the greedy bugger!

MarlenaGru · 30/10/2013 17:09

Left early. Was really struggling to survive the afternoon. I need some energy please! I can't cope with 6 more weeks of this!!

MarlenaGru · 30/10/2013 17:12

Anybody want to put a link to their "dream" prams to entertain the rest of us?

bludgerwitch · 30/10/2013 17:19

Babystyle Oyster

I've found a fabulous black & white striped colour pack on amazon that is VERY Nightmare before Christmas :D

Cosatto Supa in Cuddle Monster

MTMD · 30/10/2013 17:20

I now feel guilty on top of everything else! Got a phonecall from a friend saying another friend just flew over to London and we should meet up. I had a pre-prepared excuse for weekend but she was like come on how about today tomorrow Friday?! I mumbled something about worse but not very convincingly and she actually sounded offended.

I'm not on a mood for socialising, too tired and too sick. Feel like an awful friend now. Cannot wait till Christmas to tell people I'm not just selfish cow, I am in fact pregnant and siiick!

MTMD · 30/10/2013 17:22

Sorry I'm going to ignore the pram porn. Will start asking questions December/January :P I'm much more superstitious than I dare to admit Blush

Mitchell2 · 30/10/2013 17:30

How's this for pram porn...

Aston Martin

It was actually DP who saw it and suggested! Typical Wink

MarlenaGru · 30/10/2013 17:42

Thanks ladies!
bludger I like both of those!
Bloody hell mitchell2!

I think I want a second hand bugaboo with a nice pram bit (chameleon style) as I really can't justify a new one but wanted one desperately when DD was a baby but we lived in a shoebox back then. Now we have plenty of space but the smallest car ever. My bee is still perfect apart from rain cover so will need to go on the hard sell to dh!

drools

NessieMcFessie · 30/10/2013 17:57

Loving the pram porn......crazy money!

Bit late onto the birth chat but having done it once has made me even more terrified this time round.......it is already keeping me awake at night Sad.

Did PJen check in? I didn't see her?

CleverOl10 · 30/10/2013 17:59

I quite like this system www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplay0_10751_-1_150806_10001

I still have my system from DS but its getting old and worn and I really want a new one. But I will have to face my mother's complaining that I spent so much on the first one that it is ridiculous to buy another. She may be right but I'm pregnant and allowed to be ridiculous!!!!!!!! ;)

bludgerwitch · 30/10/2013 18:02

Marlena I've heard a lot of good things about Bugaboos (and a couple of mixed reviews) and I really love the Bee but think it's probably better for a more urban area, we're a bit too country :D

Liquidambar · 30/10/2013 18:06

Gosh! Prams can be expensive!
We have a Phil and Teds and I love it. It is suitable from birth and DS used it up until the summer (3.5 years). I think it is absolutely fine for this new baby. It is a really robust pram and great for uneven paths.

I was on first aid training course today. Thank God it was for adults. However, the person showed how to do CPR on a baby and a child and that was VERY emotional!
Feeling well today, no ms and very hungry! My scan is tomorrow and I am very nervous, mainly because I am not having many symptoms.

cheesysmile · 30/10/2013 18:11

Wow all this pram talk makes me realise I have absolutely no clue about anything I will need! Figure I've got plenty of time though and would like to get past the 12 wk scan successfully before I get myself too excited I think.

Talking of which I got the scan appt through the post today, but typically its about the only day I really can't do due to work commitments. Will ring tomorrow to try and rearrange, hope I don't have to wait ages now!

wispaxmas · 30/10/2013 18:35

I think we're going to go all out on pram.. I know, I know, you can get good prams for half the price, but my SIL swears by her bugaboo, and she traded in her chameleon for a donkey double when she had her second son, and loves it. The more I look into prams and travel systems, the more i want a bugaboo buffalo. I spend a lot of time walking the dog in the woods, and it seems the best option for taking baby along.

wispaxmas · 30/10/2013 18:36

I should add, though, that we might pick it up in the states when we're over there during the holidays, as they're less expensive there and my mom has offered to buy it... otherwise I'm not sure how I'd have justified the cost.
