*cotbed why does my phone do that??

bellygazing · 29/10/2013 21:21

so pleased for you, such a relief! I am soooo tired today. My boobs have already started on their quest to take over the world and like lots of you I feel mega bloated.

We found out the sex last time but thought we would go for a surprise this time. Although I still don't quite believe it's real. My DH reckons my queasiness is worse this time round but reckon it's about the same. Am sure I'm not making a great impression at my new job 3 weeks in with constant yawning. Not really looking forward to telling my new boss... as it's a new job not only do I not get SMP I don't get any sick pay for the first 6 months so will have to soldier on :( Been reading every day and following how everyone's getting on but toooo tired for posting....

Penguin13 · 29/10/2013 21:35

Wonderful news Seat, so relieved for you. Fx for good outcomes for the rest of you anxiously awaiting news.

superlambanana · 29/10/2013 21:50

My boobs are the only symptom I've had really, aside from a few waves of nausea (some lasting an hour or so!). I do keep having horrible cramps though. I think, after the initial panicking and assuming the worst, that it's trapped wind Blush Am desperate to take peppermint oil capsules or remegel/rennie but not sure if I'm allowed. Still worrying a bit about it though Hmm

CleverOl10 · 29/10/2013 21:54

superlamb my symptoms are very similar to yours - sore boobs some days (not all) and waves of nausea as you say, some short some for an hour. I did get cramps a lot too but they seem to have calmed down. I just feel exhausted all the time too.

ElizaB3 · 30/10/2013 00:46

Hello, I am just checking in, enjoying following the thread.
Going to Dubai for a week tomorrow but will stay updated; then when we're back we're going to have a scan (you lot make an added case for it!) - to make it more real before we tell our parents. Have few symptoms; so need the reassurance - or more proof!
Hope everyone stays in good health.

littlepickly · 30/10/2013 06:52

Another vote for mamas and papas sola too - is really good value and a lovely travel system - great colour choices too!!

We mostly had things given to us for nursery furniture so were very lucky and we also threw in the odd ikea bit. Mamas and papas and next do lovely nursery stuff but it depends how much you want to spend.

Going back to the birth thing wispa - I think I was in total denial about it all happening, the only time it got a bit real was when I went to ante natal classes but other than that I tried not to think about it, you will probably surprise yourself when it all comes around and will be so proud of yourself afterwards!! I think I might try hypnobirthing this time lady as think it would be good with home birth too!

misshoohaa · 30/10/2013 07:30

Gosh this thread moves so fast. I can't keep up! How's bludger, doing a quick phone scroll and couldn't see an update yet?

Re - buggies. Baby jogger city mini is my recommendation, and if you get the bassinet then you get the things that make it compatible with your maxi cosi seat. Out of my Nct group I'm the only one still using my original buggy 2.5 years on, a lot of people started with the quinny and bugaboos but ended up with maclarens.

If my baby jogger broke tomorrow I'd go buy another one straight away!

Re birth stories, mine was looooong, I've got it written down somewhere in full detail ill find it and post it if anyone's interested? It's very detailed though so might not be for those who are a bit nervous about it but you'll all be fine!Grin Instinct kicks in and you cope and when you hold your squishy little baby you'll quickly forget about the pain (until you have to get up or do your first post birth poo! Wink)

spinningirl10 · 30/10/2013 07:35

I'm bleeding!!! who should I phone....I'm 4w+5, I'm scared!

Oh I have a number for the midwife I'll be seeing....should I wait till 9am?

LadyGoneGaga · 30/10/2013 08:01

Spinning have responded on July thread, in case you see this first.

MTMD · 30/10/2013 08:21

Morning all

I cannot wait until I can wear Baby on Board badge. I was so dizzy this morning I very nearly passed out in the tube. Felt very sorry for myself and kept looking at men in priority seats thinking "I should be sitting there, should I just throw up on your shoes to prove my point?!" :) Feeling really sick as well today... Out of interest, how do we get hold of those badges? I probably wouldn't wear one no while no one knows but I think I want one anyway.

ohcluttergotme · 30/10/2013 08:48

Really sorry not had a chance to read back over the thread but hope all mummies to be are well.
I had worst nights sleep and have been awake since 3am.
I've had to phone in sick today as feel so awful Hmm
Just wondering if anyone had any advice on helping to promote a good nights sleep in pregnancy.
I've never been a great sleeper since I had my dd 14 years ago and normally take things like Kalms to help me sleep.
I'm then so tired and can barely keep my eyes open at night, sleep for a few hours then ping wide awake and it's killing me.
My ds is 4 and I feel I can't cope with him as so tired.
Any advice please, willing to try all.
Going to go back and read thread now Smile

bludgerwitch · 30/10/2013 10:19

Oh, seat, that's great news!

My nausea is worse than ever, it even woke me up at half past three this morning, god I feel awful, the most random things make me gag. I usually cook all meals from scratch but I think I'll need a wee chair in my kitchen because the dizziness is so bad - I've mostly been eating crap, crisps and grapes are the two best things for my nausea.

DH is picking me up in an hour and hen we're off to the solicitor's to sign the contract for our house, we went and had a sneaky peak at it again last night to make sure it is still standing Blush.

dramajustfollowsme · 30/10/2013 10:24

The only maternity hospital in our area has been found to be unclean, understaffed and failing mothers and babies. Sad
It was horrendous when I was in having dd but I hoped that was just bad luck. It was over the May Day weekend and the staff shortages and errors made were chronic. Angry
I've got a record of another child's hearing test in Dd's red book. I don't have dd's - they got mixed up. They continually forgot to give medication to both of us and nearly gave dd an unnecessary bcg injection as the notes got mixed up.
I know that I won't be allowed a home birth because of other medical problems. They have shut the other midwife led unit.
I'm seriously looking at private hospitals - an expense we can't really afford.
The next nearest hospital would be 80 miles away.

Snowlet · 30/10/2013 10:37

I've broken down and booked an early scan, for tomorrow. I'll be 8+2, which hopefully will be enough to find a heartbeat. I just have this overwhelming need to know she's alive in there.

ohclutter I so wish that I had great advice for you but sadly I'm just in exactly the same boat. I work freelance and so can usually manage naps, but the pinging awake thing, I just don't know. Are you getting up to wee about 200% more often as well?

drama so sorry about your hospital issues, puts it in perspective for me worrying about living in Leeds and wanting to use the birthing centre in Huddersfield! Possibly an out there suggestion, but could you stay with someone near a better hospital right around your due date and possibly handle it that way? I'm having all my scans and appts in Leeds but birthing in Huddersfield, my DP's parents live near there. Is anything like that potentially an option?

MyNameIsWinkly · 30/10/2013 10:51

Ugh. My ms has kicked in with a vengeance. Going to have to tell work soon- I'm an emergency responder and can't keep stopping for vomit breaks. I love my job and don't want to be taken off the front lines for a pregnancy that might not even be viable :(

MarlenaGru · 30/10/2013 11:14

We are a miserable bunch today Halloween Grin
I feel like death at my desk today.
Counting the minutes til lunch.

dramajustfollowsme · 30/10/2013 11:19

So sorry your MS is kicking in. I'm a primary teacher. During previous pregnancies I've ended up telling school very early as I was constantly running back and fore to be sick. My room is opposite the h.t and the loo. She could see and hear what was going on. Confused
I found those travel sickness bands helped. I put them on again as soon as I found out this time. I don't feel bad yet so I'm hoping it isn't going to happen this time.
I'm doing some theatre work over the next couple of week, that i can't pull out of. I really hope that I don't need a bucket at the side of the stage!

ohcluttergotme · 30/10/2013 11:35

Yep snowlet, waking up for a million trips to the loo Confused
Feel so guilty not being in work today but honestly so exhausted.
I'm thinking of looking into pregnancy yoga or some form of meditation, really need to do something as can't be off for the next 7 months!
I went for an early scan last week at 6 weeks and they saw the heartbeat Smile

superlambanana · 30/10/2013 12:45

We are all down today Hmm Ha journey in from hell then cried over everyone in the office. Stupid hormones!! I reckon they all think I'm a complete loon now - so embarrassed!! Going to tell my boss today. Can't have her thinking I'm cracking up...

LadyGoneGaga · 30/10/2013 12:50

Clutter that hypnobirthing CD used to put me straight to sleep. Might be worth seeing if there is something similar to use for early pregnancy. Or just use that!

kittygirl33 · 30/10/2013 13:22

Hi everyone, sorry I was on holiday on the west coast of Scotland all last week so I've just got round to catching up on the thread, so just checking in again! I had my first appointment with the midwife yesterday, so lots of form-filling. I don't get any blood tests until the next appointment though at 11 weeks - is that the same for everyone else or is this the Scottish system? (I'm based in the northeast of Scotland). The midwife has calculated my due date as June 9, but I'm sure it will change after the scan. Just waiting for the scan date now and praying that everything goes smoothly. I'm eight weeks + 1 now and the days are going so slowly. I've managed to stay reasonably active with swimming, gym and cycling but today I also feel like crap. Also went to get bra size measured, up from a B cup to a C cup already, yikes!!

drama my local hospital (Aberdeen) made the headlines yesterday as it was so dirty that the inspectors went straight to the Scottish government with their concerns. The only other place I can give birth at is a midwife unit around 30 miles away, which I love the sound of, but I would just worry in case something went wrong quickly. I'm also not sure if they would let a first time mum give birth there Confused

WifeofGru · 30/10/2013 13:23

Wow, so many early scans. Congratulations everyone. As we are overseas and insurance doesn't cover maternity we will be footing the bill for everything til we are home in the UK (around 16weeks). Likely cost is going to be around 2000 USD......eek. this is an expensive child already. First appointment next week, then will find out the plan for scans and nuchal assessment. Had NT with DD1 in 2007, but it wasn't being offered when I had DD2 in 2011 as shortage of ultrasonographers. Think someone said up thread about not getting it in Northern Ireland - it may be due to trained obstetric ultrasonographers numbers. hard work gettin through the day at the moment with 2 year old. DD1 at school so at least that's sonething.
Hope anyone bleeding having a scan gets some reassuring news.

WifeofGru · 30/10/2013 13:31

kitty had both DDs in Scotland. Both times saw GP to inform of pregnancy and then didn't have anything til midwife appointment, scan and bloods all at same time around 12 weeks.

kittygirl33 · 30/10/2013 13:40

Thanks wife interesting to know! I wasn't sure whether to go to my GP or not, so I rang up and asked the surgery and they just booked me straight into the midwife. I was hoping to get it all done in one appointment so I can stop taking time off work. All these appointments get really suspicious!
