Hi ladies

My NHS Scan is the 21st…

Caved in and had an early scan today (I’m 10wks) and saw our beautiful little baby!! – Totally moving about, arms waving away! My family has a lot of twins so I was half expecting to find out we were having two – but just one little perfect bean! We’re soooooo happy! Used the same scan place as last time with my DD, they were great – even turned on the 3D for free - which was a bit surreal!!

Summer29 · 03/11/2013 17:11

I'm a first time poster and unsure how to add myself to the list of mums to be! Could someone add me on? I'm not sure of the exact date but its definitely June (smile)
I have my booking in appointment tomorrow and don't know what to ask! Any tips?? Thanks xxx

Mitchell2 · 03/11/2013 17:14

Happy birthday gilly Cake

So envious of all those with scan soon. After super quick booking in I have to wait until 13 weeks (9th dec) until mine. Although I have had an early reassurance scan and going to to the harmony so prob will have all that done and dusted before I see anyone within the nhs again!

ohcluttergotme · 03/11/2013 17:19

Just got a dominos stuffed crust tandoori chicken with honey & mustard dip! So good!
Pregnancy makes me so hungry.
I've got my booking in with midwife this Thursday and 12 week scan on 4th December Smile

MTMD · 03/11/2013 17:24

My very first scan is December 6th!! Its so far away DH said he went from the state of amazement to denial :D but he's currently driving around north london looking for pomelos for his pregnant wife Grin

Cherryjellybean · 03/11/2013 17:36

Hi everyone! Room for another one? :) my due date is the 26th, so i am 6+3 I think.

I have been lurking a few weeks and I am quite jealous of all your early scans, and scan dates! It feels like such a long wait till it happens!

I keep craving food then eating a small bit and then feeling awful! My lovely dh is currently painting our kitchen, but the smell of paint mixed with food is making me feel worse.

Happy Birthday Gilly!

Stacks · 03/11/2013 17:58

I got my booking in appointment through today, and my scan date. 18th Nov and 10th Dec respectively. I've decided I really want Chinese, DH wants me to be healthy for a few days though, as we had quite a lot of take out and bad food while on holiday last week. The first trimester is so strange with nausea, I felt so sick earlier and didn't feel like anything at all - till I thought of cheese and crackers with homemade tomato chilli chutney, followed by pickled gherkins!

WifeofGru · 03/11/2013 18:20

Hospitals in Glasgow would not divulge sex at 20 week scan when I had DD1. With DD2 if you asked and it was easy to determine then they would.
TBH the ultrasonographers have a huge amount of information to assimilate in a short time and I'd rather they used the time taking vital measurements rather than trying to get a shy baby to show its 'bits'. Scanning a moving object is tricky and pressured enough! Boys easier to identify than girls as it's a positive finding you're looking for and less likely to be wrong.

superlambanana · 03/11/2013 18:37

Ohhhh my nausea has got worse - I had to run out of both B&Q and Tesco, and had to stop on way back (it's only a 20 min drive!), then go the rest of the way lying on the back seat Sad Been asleep on sofa for two hours and feel horrendous if I move at all Hmm

Penguin13 · 03/11/2013 18:38

Having a rubbish day today. I'm 10+3 and since 9 weeks aside from tiredness and being emotional all the symptoms I had have pretty much disappeared. I've had zero bleeding and know that symptoms can come and go and I keep telling myself it could be fine but I am 99 % convinced my baby must have stopped growing and that the scan will confirm a mmc. I was determined to wait for the 12 week scan, I don't know the date yet as I'm still waiting for my letter but the uncertainty is really getting me down. Sorry for the moan, I feel like I should be grateful not to be suffering with MS, especially since I'm starting my new job tomorrow but I feel like I'm turning into a basketcase Sad.

Mitchell2 · 03/11/2013 18:48

pengiun I know how you feel. Can't give any advice apart to reassure you that your not alone. My breasts which have been killing me since the start stopped hurting this morning and it sent me into a panic. I'm 7+5.

DP had to reassure but still doesn't help. I want my hurty boobs back!

NessieMcFessie · 03/11/2013 18:48

Oh dear Penguin - Don't think like that.....tiredness and emotional are symptoms enough!

Good luck with the new job tomorrow!

MTMD · 03/11/2013 18:50

Penguin, I read that the peak of ms is 8-9 weeks so its probably normal to feel better at 10 weeks!

I wish I was at least a couple of weeks further along! Dreading work tomorrow, I'm too drained after another weekend of not eating... And I'm training a new starter tomorrow, might ring in sick otherwise...

Penguin13 · 03/11/2013 19:03

Aw thanks girls. My DH is trying to be supportive and reassure me bless him but I guess it's hard for them to know exactly what it's like.

My symptoms have been relatively minor since the beginning (mainly just sore/growing boobs, constipation and very mild nausea) so maybe I just have low hormone levels. Just crossing everything my scan letter comes early next week so I at least have a date to aim for. If it's past 13 weeks I think I might crack and book a private scan.

Stacks · 03/11/2013 19:28

Pen my symptoms with DS were very minor. I felt a bit nauseous most of the day, but was never sick, and I was tired. That's it! I had to have an early scan just before 6 weeks (early enough no heartbeat was seen) but they rushed me in because my hormone levels were so high they didn't believe my dates. All was fine and DS is a happy healthy 10m old. Absolutely no problems through my pregnancy at all, in fact I felt great. Try not to worry, hard as that is.

Snowlet · 03/11/2013 20:44

Penguin if it helps at all I'm 9 weeks on Tuesday and my symptoms have lessened. It's completely natural to feel worried, definitely, but I've also read that 8-9 weeks can be the peak so trying to stay positive. I had a scan at 8+2 and there was a healthy heartbeat. I don't think it lasts 12-13 weeks for everyone!

wispaxmas · 03/11/2013 21:04

Hmm There are no Chinese restaurants anywhere near us. About a gajillion sushi places, but no Chinese. So, I've just told H that we will be getting a Chinese takeaway on Friday night when we're back in the UK.

Welcome newcomers!

Most of my symptoms have disappeared, except for the off and on dodgey tummy. Oh, and the uncontrollable irritability. Poor H, I've been snippy with him so often lately!

Liquidambar · 03/11/2013 21:08

My symptoms are also fading, and I will only be 8 weeks tomorrow. However, I burst into tears this afternoon when DH was telling me off for not having set up the GPS properly Blush Biscuit

I am seeing my midwife this Tuesday and my scan is on 5th December... 4 weeks to go. It seems such a long time!

Snowlet · 03/11/2013 22:14

OMG I'm 9 weeks on Tuesday and have just read that as early as 9 weeks they can make a fist and start sucking their thumb!

Just pretty blown away that we're growing things so tiny, yet so sophisticated and complicated. No wonder we're all knackered....

Emmazers · 03/11/2013 22:26

Liquid and Micasa thanks so much for your thoughts. I'm still feeling utterly wretched with MS, so I hope that's a good sign, though I'm dreading the early start tomorrow for the EPAU. Fingers and toes crossed for happy scan.

Seat I shall check out the mega-bags. Thanks for the tip! Smile

Drama I don't know how anyone manages to do anything more strenuous than basic household tasks (and even those I struggle with). I think I would have to be signed off sick, so hats off to all you amazing women carrying on.

Still on the lucozade and I think it might have to be pizza for dinner tomorrow. Will you all please stop going on about delicious salt and vinegar squares! You're giving me massive cravings for them always at inconvenient times Wink

Emmazers · 03/11/2013 22:33

Oh and DREAMS! Is anyone else having crazy vivid dreams? I had them all the way through my last pregnancy but completely forgot. They're back with a vengeance Shock

CleverOl10 · 03/11/2013 22:46

Know what you mean about dreams. Not exactly crazy (unless befriending Deborah Meadon is crazy! ) but so vivid and memorable every night!

Vickyvix · 03/11/2013 23:09

Good luck tomorrow emmazers hope you get some reassurance from the EPU.

MarlenaGru · 04/11/2013 07:05

Good luck emmazers

I am trying to psyche myself up for getting to work. I just don't know how I am going to stay awake. I slept pretty much 9 hours last night but feel like I haven't slept in months. I have a project due in a few weeks but absolutely no energy to do anything about it. I don't want to tell my boss until after appraisals although I am not sure how I will keep this up.

misshoohaa · 04/11/2013 07:42

Liquid I hope my symptoms go by 8 weeks. I feel absolutely dreadful. Got a massive day of meetings tomorrow which are going to be a real struggle for me. I can only keep the nausea at bay by constantly eating, and its going to be a bit inappropriate for me to crack open the s&v squares in the middle of it!

Emmzyy good luck with your scan.
