kitty - I go through waves of incredible hunger then waves of nausea...

noseymcposey · 01/11/2013 14:16

Another one with a successful early scan here today (8wk). I'd sort of forgotten how lovely it is to see that tiny little blob on the screen.

Ahhhh :) Off to bed for a snooze now!

Nearly the weekend everyone when hopefully you can all get some much needed rest!

MarlenaGru · 01/11/2013 14:16

Nausea for me today. Can't really face food today. Feel rubbish. A week ago I couldn't stop eating and was worried as no nausea :-/

Liquidambar · 01/11/2013 14:19

kitty I am with Mitchell waves of hunger and than nausea. Now is the perfect example: I was starving and had some nachos and chilli con carne for lunch and now I just want to throw up Sad why am I so silly?

Lmf679 · 01/11/2013 14:45

I've been getting the constant waves of nausea and hunger, hungry all the time and feel sick! I had to tell a work colleague yesterday because we went out for lunch and I was fine, I then got on the tube, went pale and started retching, I had to explain as she wondered what the hell was going on!

superlambanana · 01/11/2013 15:02

Scan on 16th Dec. Gulp! The countdown begins!!

MarlenaGru · 01/11/2013 15:03

Phew. All over. Slightly frantic few minutes as apparently baby is small for 7 weeks so actually only 6 weeks. Apparently the doctor was not at all concerned though as everything was perfectly in proportion and heart was beating. Really happy to have seen heartbeat but still have a niggling worry now!

MTMD · 01/11/2013 15:08

Marlena, sometimes fertilised eggs might take a little longer to implant. I think it's perfectly normal. There was some research published a short whole ago which simply confirmed that all bodies are different and babies develop differently - no one size fits all, etc :)

Micasaestucasa · 01/11/2013 15:09

Snowlet makes perfect sense to pay for a scan if you need to. I'm off to the US in week 13 so really hoping I will have had my scan by then, otherwise will be following suit! You will be fine for the flight. Just make sure you walk around as much as possible up and down the isles and drink lots of water.

Micasaestucasa · 01/11/2013 15:10

I'm off to get the flu jab. Eek. I hate needles Hmm

misshoohaa · 01/11/2013 15:50

Congrats liquid, Marlena, mosey on the scans, fantastic news!

The nausea is the pits although I think this time I am finding the fatigue harder to handle. The nausea I can get on top of with lots of snacking but the fatigue is just impossible to handle. I've got three big days at work next week and don't actually know how I'm going to cope!

MarlenaGru · 01/11/2013 15:51

mtmd thank you that is very reassuring!

superlambanana · 01/11/2013 15:57

Apparently I don't get a booking in appointment. I am SO confused and the GP / hospital / children's centre / community midwife team have all told me different things!! What the actual is supposed to happen?!

jaykay987 · 01/11/2013 16:05

Good luck mica

So exciting about all the scans. You must all be so excited! vicky yours seems to have some round so quickly...which is good as it means mine is soon! Grin

bee your name change is a nice post Halloween change! Grin

sarah so glad your story has a happy ending. Where in Harley Street did you go?

jaykay987 · 01/11/2013 16:06

super what did they say? I thought everyone got a booking in. Though it might be combined with your scan?

MTMD · 01/11/2013 16:07

Super, I have a two hour appointment with a midwife at 11+5 and then a scan a week later. It's all self referral in my area so they don't call it booking-in and no one has thus far confirmed that I'm in fact pregnant (although I already get free prescriptions, what a gold mine, hey? Hmm )

misshoohaa · 01/11/2013 16:10

Super, you should get a booking appointment! That's how they get all your details into the system. Seems odd, perhaps they don't call it a 'booking' appointment in your area, just your first appointment?

Vickyvix · 01/11/2013 16:17

jaykay yours will be soon enough now :)

Congrats to all those who had good scans today!

I went to Harley Street too, it's walking distance from my office so very handy. I used the London Ultrasound Centre they were very friendly and very helpful. I would definitely recommend.

Re booking in, I have a booking in appt with blood tests in 2 weeks (so from GP dates at 10 weeks but really 8.5 weeks) and then my scan 2.5 weeks later (so 12.5 weeks by GP but really 11 weeks).

I think different areas have different approaches, some may have the blood tests at same time as 12 week scan I guess.

superlambanana · 01/11/2013 16:18

Hospital gave me scan appt but told me to ring GP about booking in. GP told me to ring community midwife. CM is based at the other hospital (ie not my chosen one - it's actually in a different county) and said I don't have a midwife appt at 8wks like the doctor said, I just have the scan at 12wks unless there's a problem and I want to see a midwife. My friend up the road says I definitely should get a booking in appt (she has). I am so confused!!

Mitchell2 · 01/11/2013 17:09

super assuming you are in the UK you should have a booking in - at least to get your special green book with all your details in it to cart around to all your appointments. Mine took 2 hours (rubbish MW) but they go through you and your partners health, family histories etc.

superlambanana · 01/11/2013 17:36

Yep am in UK. Apparently up here you get a pink ringbinder instead of a green book - I'm just worried mine is going to be non-existent!!

Micasaestucasa · 01/11/2013 17:36

super poor you. No wonder you're confused! I would call maternity services at the hospital you are having the scan. There are all sorts of things the mw needs to run through with you in your maternity file. Nothing to worry about at this stage, but they do need your history on file.

I can't believe I was worried about the flu jab. I barely felt it. Anyone else decided to have it?

Cupcake1985 · 01/11/2013 17:54

super call the midwife again you should get a first appointment where you go through a book that you update with the midwife throughout the pregnancy, this covers all medical history etc then you have your first lot of bloods taken. It might be confusing because of the hospital - my midwife said if I decide on a different hospital to the one im down for at te mment it's out of her area so she will still do my appointments but I would have to go to the hospital directly for my blood to be taken. My midwife said she books my scans so I haven't contacted the hospital. Different everywhere.

wispaxmas · 01/11/2013 18:03

Super, if the midwife is no help, call the GP again and make sure you have the right midwife. Then, if you do, ask the GP to refer you and tell them that you've gotten mixed information from all parties.

Stacks · 01/11/2013 18:11

Hope you get your booking in appointment sorted super.

My early scan is on Monday, can't wait. :)
