pinkdolly · 07/07/2006 08:51

Hi ladies,

Congrats Dangirl-sounds like you have had a lovely birth experience with baby Oscar. Hope you are resting up now.

KZ- Just read your birth story, wot a shocker!
I probably would've been a bundle of nerves after that experience.

Another bad night again last night with back pains and braxton hicks. I so hope that it means baby will be coming out sooner rather than later. Dont know if I can take much more of this!

Well, Have a good day girls, dont do to much.

agalch · 07/07/2006 10:08

Morning girls

Everytime i look on our thread i wonder who will have popped next.

I had my pool, entinox & oxygen delivered yesterday and mw came to do my ante-natal check and brought my delivery packs etc so i'm good to go for my homebirth.

Not feeling at all scared or worried this time at all, thought the nerves would have kicked in by now.

Can't really go into labour til next friday anyway cos i finish up work next friday. So girls send me good vibes for next saturday for it all to start lol.

take care

xx

nixnoo · 07/07/2006 11:20

Hi all,

Sefton David (we think, still not 100% on the name) was born on the 5th, weighing in at only 6lbs!

He is gorgeous, and I can't stop gazing at him.
The labour was quite an ordeal - will post the story later just so others can avoid what happened to me - but the birth itself was fantastic and in a water pool. The water helped me more than I can say... went from 4cm to a healthy little boy in about 1.5 hours! -

Will post more later, and catch up on all the other announcements... well done girls

Congratulations to Aggie, dangirl and nixnoo!!!

Blimey, they're a-popping out all over, aren't they?!

Twirl · 07/07/2006 11:46

Congratulations to Aggie, Dan, Nixoo, Koshka, Kayzed and Spub . Hope I haven't missed anyone but haven't had time to read all the posts from the last week.
This is a very belated birth announcement.... Luke was born safely by c-section on Thursday 29 June at 10.38 am weighing a whopping 9lbs 15 oz!!! I am so glad I didn't have to push him out given the size of him!!! He is absolutely gorgeous and, like us, DD is besoted with him. We came home after 3 nights in hospital and we are both doing well, my recovery is slow but steady. I found the c-section a very positive experience so if anyone else is due to have one I am more than happy to chat more about it.
Best wishes to all of you. x

usandbump · 07/07/2006 11:58

Congratulations Twirl and Nixnoo great news!

spub · 07/07/2006 12:05

Twirl and Nix -
Huge conrats to you both! Wonderful stuff!
Twirl - I was thinking about you as I went into theatre a day early and wondering how you'd gotten on that very day, too! Congrats on the whopping Luke - I'd be glad of a section, too!
Nix - your little bundle sounds fab. Like the name - what's its origin?
Hi to everyone else!

puddytat99 · 07/07/2006 12:49

Huge congrats to Dangirl, Nixnoo and Twirl on your little (or not so little) bundles.

Been to see mw today. Cervix is soft and short and I'm at 1cm. Couldn't do a proper sweep but had a bit of a go anyway. Hope it gets something going. Says it's all baby and around a good 8-9lbs. Will let you know if anything happens here.

Take care of all those lovely babies and bumps.

HumphreysCorner · 07/07/2006 13:22

Wow-what alot of births at once-can't keep up!

Congratulations to all of you and welcome to your little treasures.

Aggie-don't know how to put the little thing over the a in Haf so have left it off the list.

Lots of luck to the next lot of poppers!

Anyway, must go but will catch up again later. Hope I've updated the list correctly.

kbaby · 07/07/2006 13:57

kayzed, angiepanther, dangirl, nixnoo and anyone else ive missed - Congratulations to you all.

Crikey its only 2 days since I was last on and 4 babies. Kayzed and angie panther your los were born within a few minutes of each other.

iam blossom- My DH is the same, Someones DH on here was cooling them down with the flannel! the nearest bit of consideration or care I get off dh is he carries the hoover down the stairs for me. He also wanted to go away for some company party 3 days before by EDD and was put out that I said not bloody likely!

I fed up of not being able to sleep. If I lay on my side I roll too far on to my belly and then LO kicks like mad and if I lean back I feel all the side of my bump pulling where its not supported and its too hot to sleep surrounded by pillows.

Non signs here but then im only 37 weeks today so still a bit to go.

Good luck to anyone who pops soon.

I used the mothercare cheapie breast pads for the first 2 weeks but then stopped leaking and could bin them. They all show through your t shirts.

Chat2Ali · 07/07/2006 14:48

OMG - 10 babies already!

Love, hugs and congrats to all the new Mummies:
JaneOT, bamboozleslover, HumphreysCorner, Spub, koshka1984, Twirl, kayzed, dangirl, AggiePanther, and nixnoo
((((((((((((((((((((((xxxxxxhugxxxxxx)))))))))))))))))))))))))))

I haven't been able to get near my computer as its in the loft room which is severely inadequately insulated, and over the past week has been the fiery furnace of HELL. Also been a tad uncomfortable in general. Will try to catch up, but I think news of the new babes is the important bit. Thanks to HC for keeping us updated (((hug)))

Have been feeling a few crampy niggling pains in the past 2 days, but am sure I'll be waiting 'round a while longer yet - not holding my breath.

Glad 2 be back on MN - goodluck to everyone else who is still waiting...

Ali

FirstAtForty · 07/07/2006 15:23

Gosh - it's all going on isn't it!! Big contrats to Twirl, Kayzed, Dangirl, AggiePanther and Nixnoo .

Puddytat - good luck with the results of your sweep!

Usandbump - can really sympathise about the waiting around and threat of induction (am 40 +5 today.) Know what you mean about wanting it to happen but bricking it as well!! On balance I think the prospect of waiting till a week on Monday is worse than the thought of induction itself at the moment. My mother (visiting from Australia) is getting impatient and I can't stand the pressure!!

Had mw appt and 'stretch and sweep' this morning. Head 2/5 engaged, the sweep was fine (not painful), but apparently my cervix is quite posterior, ie difficult to reach, so the sweeping may not have been too effective - grrrr!

Everything else okay thankfully. LO feels like she's doing loop the loops, so either far too happy and comfy, or (hopefully) impatient to get out!! Who knows... Going back on Sunday for another sweep if nothing happens before then.

Just had massive portion of pineapple for lunch - may have to try Spub's Chinese food method tonight!

take care everybody xxxx

usandbump · 07/07/2006 16:14

Good luck with the sweep Puddy, I'm beginning to regret turning down my m/w's offer of one now!

Hope the feeding gets easier HC wish I could offer some words of wisdom x

Kbaby, hope you get a better nights sleep, I have I have a few awful nights followed by a 1-2 good ones- think I get to the point of exhaustion and sleep comfy or not!

Good to hear from you Ali its a waiting game now!

FirstatForty, the pressure is unbearable, I'm communicating through text only coz I can't bear the questions and comments! Hope the sweep starts you off. I'm having Chinese tonight too-have a real craving for it Although it's my birthday tomorrow and if I could I would choose for LO to stay put but sods law........

OP posts:
Chat2Ali · 07/07/2006 16:48

Ladies - I know how the pressure is with parents. Mine have been staying with me (also from Australia) for 4 weeks now. There's no end in sight. At least for me their bloody annoyances are distracting me from other worries - like labour.

Wish I could just communicate with them by text only.

spub · 07/07/2006 17:59

Us andbump - careful with that Chinese meal!
Hope it does the trick......

Kayzed and HC - good luck with the bf and post natal recovery. There really is no end to the little (and no doubt not so little) physical annoyances is there - grazed nipples, ouch!

Usandbump - Don't blame you for not answering the phone - people's questions and comments can be really quite something. A friend who gave birth last year just rang and laughed down the phone 'gosh, so you're nearly a week late. And it's just in there getting bigger and bigger!!' I had to laugh (after telling her to F off obviously). And my mother has started to question whether I have got my dates right {angry] !!

Ali - oh god - 4 weeks! Have they been there solidly all that time? Mine (mother and stepfather) have been staying with us on and off for the past few weeks and it has been super stressful. Dreading going into labour with a houseful looking on - I'll be begging them to let me into the hospital! Lol (with an inner sob) at the texting!

Chat2Ali · 07/07/2006 20:05

FirstatFourty - wow, that's a coincidence I have mother and stepfather here too. Its been pretty much constant since they arrived. They had intended to travel more, but only one short trip to Barcelona .
I agree about not wanting to go into labour when you don't have your privacy, its been bothering me too. But I feel worse for you being past your edd.
Hope the pineapple and chinese food help.

koshka1984 · 07/07/2006 20:21

Hey everyone,

BF is abandoned now, massive feelings of guilt, but he wasnt feeding from my boobs and screaming with hunger all the time so i gave up. He did get the colostrum thought, and a bit of my milk tho.
Fell a complete failure as Mwife is making me feel guilty

never mind! good luck everyone x

joanna4 · 07/07/2006 20:38

Koshka I feel for you it is horrible that you are made to feel guilty like this it is your choice at the end of the day no one elses.
Take care enjoy your little man.

pinkdolly · 07/07/2006 20:45

Koshka-

Sweetie dont fret about the midwife's. Bf'ing is definatly not for everyone. You get it pushed down your throat that breast is best and all that, but for some people its a nightmare. Your Lo was obviously in need of a bottle and you did the best you could. (I sound really negative on bf'ing, not really I did it for 3 months with dd1 and 1 month with dd2) Am gonna give it a go again this time but if, for whatever reason it is not working out, then my LO will be on a bottle too.

Dont stress yourself out and dont let other people make you feel guilty about your decisions.

Nixnoo - Twirl- congrats on your safe arrivals. Hope you are all settling in well and resting up.

My midwife came to check my BP again today and thankfully it has come back down to an acceptable level. So although she is keeping an eye on me I am still set for my homebirth.

DH will be home anytime now for the weekend. So I suppose I should make the most of him for helping me get this baby out .

Have a nice weekend girls.

sunita123 · 07/07/2006 22:00

Congrats to all those who have had their LO's.

Question to those with swollen legs, ankles.
Are they so bad that they hurt when you walk? Or is it just me?

I've just been told by Mum to try soaking them in a tub of ice cold water. Has anyone got any other solutions?

Clara1 · 07/07/2006 22:27

Blimey - away for a few days and babies are popping out everywhere! Congratulations to everyone who has made it "to the other side" so far.
Still got two weeks to go and every day feels like a week and now feeling like an elephant both in terms of size and feeling like have been pregnant for ever.
Went to m/w yesterday who wasn't sure which way the baby was (hope she's not going to be there for delivery in case she is not sure where it comes out either!!) So got sent for scan. Baby is head down (hooray) but has its hand up to the side of its head. Mentioned this to a neighbour I met when I got home who said "oh yes, that is a classic position for a baby with cerebral palsy"!!!!!!!! Then spent all last night panicking and couldn't sleep so hoping I will be too knackered to worry about it tonight too.
Baby can't come before Sunday as have got 19 six year old girls coming for a makeover party - must be MAD!

lilianna · 07/07/2006 23:41

hi. i've not heard that about cerebral palsy and i'm sure it cannot be found out until baby is born.
Please do not worry and if you were to find out that your baby has cerebral palsy i'm sure you would cope and love it just the same as any other child.
