What a gorgeous little thing Kayzed. Seeing her makes me want it to happen NOW. 38+6 and nothing as yet!

Take care ladies

HumphreysCorner · 09/07/2006 10:10

Come on all you ladies in waiting-let's see some action

Hi all, just been catching up with all the posts. Congrats to all the thread 'graduates'. 37+2 and still seems ages until I get to meet bub.

After being active throughout pg I'm now starting to feel uncomfortable and more tired. Just started getting the occasional twinge in the nether regions, so hopefully a sign that lo is moving downwards (wasn't engaged when mw checked last week). Am swinging between desperate for labour to start, to panic that I haven't bought plastic sheeting yet and it can't possibly come before then (and what's this talk of homebirth kit, those who have had/are planning, my mw hasn't mentioned?). Getting my hair cut tomorrow, so I won't look too wild woman of Borneo, and friend coming over Tues to give me a foot massage. Hey life's not so bad

Hi Girls

Hope everyone?s doing okay this Sunday.

Usandbump ? how was your birthday yesterday? (belated birthday wishes!! )

And Happy Birthday to Kayzed!!

Chat2Ali ? gosh that?s a coincidence too ? my parents went to Barcelona! They did carry on to other places for a couple of weeks though, so that gave us all a bit of a break. Was fraught when they came back though? At the mo they are visiting relatives for a few days. They will be back here like a shot once there?s any hint of grandchild arriving though (and they ring twice a day to check, so there?s no sneaking one out without telling them!!). V difficult having parents overseas ? seeing them is so much of an ?all or nothing? experience?

Good luck to the breast / bottle feeding ladies, I don?t know much about feeding (though will no doubt be getting a crash course soon!) but it sounds like really challenging, emotional and hard work whatever happens, I?m sure you?re doing a great job.

Lilianna ? hope the antibiotics are working fast and you?re feeling better

Kayzed ? fantastic to see the photo of Roisin, she?s beautiful! Makes it all seem much more real?

Kbaby, Pinkdolly, Seven ? can sympathise about sleep difficulties. Only having choice of 2 positions (right side or left) is annoying. At the moment am using one of those mini bean bags (Cushtie cushions I think they?re called) under my bump which is the comfiest thing I?ve found, before that was just using a small cushion as pillows were too big and hot.

Puddytat ? what a nasty shock. Hope the aches and pains go away soon, you poor thing it sounds very painful.

Had second sweep this morning ? cervix not so posterior now, is softer but still not open enough to be ?swept?, so it has been ?stretched? (to try and open it up a bit I think). Not painful, just uncomfortable, and the cervix bled a bit as a result. Though really seeing some proper blood was actually quite exciting in a weird sort of way after all these days of nothing much else happening. My god this pregnancy business is bizarre, would never have imagined a year ago I?d be sitting typing about my cervix? and posting it on the internet !!! Had some very mild cramps this morning, which have now receded? Vindaloo last night ? bloody useless. Third (and final) sweep on Weds, after that it?s induction if nothing has happened before.

Good luck to all fellow ?waiters? !! Have been trying to choose some ?CDs to birth to? ? had to put in my Adam and the Ants CD as it has ?Stand and Deliver? on it (sorry?). Any other recommendations?

Have a good Sunday everybody. xxx

bumpybel · 09/07/2006 13:41

hey girls...
typing with wrong hand as holding william henry with the other!!!hc your ring test is flawed!!!

agalch · 09/07/2006 13:57

Congrats to all those with newly arrived babes

I 38 wks today and sooo ready to see my lo.Especially after seeing Kayzed's baby girl, she is such a sweetie,u lucky girl kayzed.
But although homebirth stuff is all in place i have to hope really that i don't go till next friday as i have 2 sets of parents still with me needing childcareI am getting pissed off working now.

Maewest,my mw had my oxygen and entinox delivered on Thurs and gave me a prescription for pethidene(hoping not to use it tho). Also pool arrived on Wednesday.
RE homebirth kit= mw brought 2 medium crates with things like, delivery pack, suture kit, infant resusitaire(sp),pads, amnihooks(sp)and drugs eg syntometrine etc.All the things that are needed for a birth basically.Ask her when you see her again. You should also tell your home insurance that you have oxygen etc in the home.i also had a visit from 2 firemen from our local station about safe storage. This should be in place by 37/38 weeks.

Let me know how you get on.

usandbump · 09/07/2006 14:56

Congrats Bumpy Fab news and I love the name x

Had a great Birthday thanks FirstatForty, spoilt all day and enjoyed a glass of wine No pressies though my wish was to go on a big shopping spree in a few weeks time- I can't wait Hope your sweep is moving things along, it definitely sounds as if progress is being made

Midwife came this morning and really cheered me up, baby is now 2/5 engaged, bp has gone right down and she did a sweep which she said was very favourable. She thinks I will go into labour in the next couple of days. Although she said please try to avoid today and tonight because the hospital is packed

Happy Birthday kayzed Hope you are spoilt rotten x

Wow keep missing a few days and more babies, congrats everyone. Sorry haven't time to check all posts as a nearly two year old is running riot!!

Still crampy and knackered but still no sign. Although have additional prob of lack of childcare at the moment as MIL was rushed into hospital on friday with high temperature from getting an infection whilst on the luekemia tablets. Sister and SIL both on holiday, my parents are 1.5 hours away and friend a minimum of an hour so slight problem at the moment. FIL can step in so long as he can get back from the hospital in time to get be there as I'm told this could be quick!!!!

Also has to come in next couple of weeks as DH starts new job and can't take holiday straight away!!!

Why does everything happen at once?

Good luck to everyone else and hope the antibiotics clear up soon Liianna.

Re the BF I gave up after first few days with DS as he wouldn't latch on and just lied to the midwife. He got the colestrum which I think is the important bit and doesn't seem to be any the worse for it.

congrats bumpybel
kz she is gorgeous and happy birthday

still waiting - term+1 today - soooooo bored can't move too much, come on wee fella
xx

Chat2Ali · 09/07/2006 18:04

Hello all!

Big congrats Bumpy - very sweet names.
KZ - Roisin is beautiful and also a wonderful name.

I am looking forward to seeing my LO. A few meaningless twinges here. Due this Fri, but I am not counting my little chicken before she hatches -- I sympathise with you gals who are past your edds, it would/will send me 'round the bend. One thing I am certain of though, I don't want to go anywhere near the hospital tonight while the world cup final is on. Not that I care about the result, just heard a rumour there were going to be a lot of staff taking "sickies." Would be worse if England were playing I s'pose.

Sunita - I know you posted days ago about swollen feet, and I am way behind, but wanted to say mine have been bad too. It feels like I am wearing very tight socks. I have a huge pile of cushions at the end of the bed, and sleep with my feet up all night (I know it sounds weird sleeping on your side with your feet up) but by morrning the swelling has mostly gone -- until you stand up again and all the fluid rushes back to yer feet . At least its not fer much longer...

happy twinging, contracting and dilating everyone who is still waiting!
Ali

Chat2Ali · 09/07/2006 18:05

Also, happy birthday KZ!

Straightforward · 09/07/2006 19:25

Hey congrats to Bumpy!!!

Not much to report here except I'm a nightmare to live with - snappy and irritable one minute, in floods of tears the next. Anyone else having this?

maewest · 09/07/2006 19:30

algach - thanks for the info about homebirth kit. I don't have another mw appt for another 10 days or so, hope nothing kicks off till then (altho not due until 28th so bit of a way to go). Bought plastic sheeting today, have birth ball and TENS machine arrived last week. Really must get round to packing just in case hosp bag...

usandbump · 09/07/2006 19:31

I've been exactly the same Straightforward, so teary I haven't been able to face anyone or speak on the phone. It seems to have lifted a little this weekend thank goodness, I feel for you but I think it's part of the process. I'm sure it will all be worth it but I have to admit I've thought a couple of times what the heck am I doing?! Hope you feel better soon, try and keep busy and let the tears come- better out than in x

IamBlossom · 09/07/2006 19:56

Bumpy, big time congrats, wondered where you'd gone! Love the name, well done you.

Happy birthday Kayzed and UsandBump! Roisin is beautiful.

SF - I too am very irritable. Really trying to hold it in today as DH has hangover (again) and it would end in a full scale row, but should be ok now that DS has finally decided to go to sleep. Been out today with friends going round a county show which was fun but knackering. I am ok if I am out and about, just very snappy and out of sorts at home....

Algach, I cannot beleive you are still childminding. I can barely find the energy to look after my own toddler and he is in nursery every afternoon. I take my hat off to you I really do, are you going to have any chance to put your feet up before this one comes along?

Puddy, less of the splits action girl, that sounds painful!

BHs are realy uncomfy, but still no sign of anything, I'm with you maewest and wallace, still over two weeks to go. sigh. Moan whinge etc.

Ciao for now.

Bloss

agalch · 09/07/2006 20:02

Iamblossom

I am not still working thru choice lol.Onew of my mindees left on Friday (thank goodness) but next week i'll have 2 mindees aged 11yrs and 10 months and dd nearly 2.Have told parents i will be sitting with feet up at every poss opportunity. My feet are slightly swollen too.

maewest i would maybe phone the mw and ask when you will have your gas's etc delivered as you could really go anytime.
Are you having a pool?

kbaby · 09/07/2006 20:42

IamBlossom- I am so of you. I wish my MIL would do that. DD is so clingy that DH uses it as an excuse not to bother taking her anywhere or playing with her much. This w/e for example I went to get a nursing bra and took her with me, so we were out from 11am to 5pm and today DD and I went to my mums for dinner and then we went to a party so again she was with me from 11am to 4pm and then when we came home hes on the PC watching DVD's and I have to do the bathing and bed thing. He really pees me off as he moans he doesnt see her but then cant be bothered to make the effort to play with her either.

HumphreysCorner - DD was the same re bf and when she fell asleep after a few minutes I used to undress her or change her nappy and then put her back on, OR THE OTHER THING WAS TO BLOW ON HER TO WAKE HER UP SLIGHTLY SO SHE'D FEED- SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS.
kayzed - She looks lovely, keep the pics coming.
FirstAtForty - You could have salt and peppers Push it.
bumpybel - Congratulations
Straightforward - Yes im exactly the same. Im really peed off with DH at the moment and want to sit and cry all the time. I just want to mope about the house feeling sorry for myself.

Kbaby 37+2 days ie still bloody ages to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

seven · 09/07/2006 20:45

well no baby on my due date, had loads of twinges thought it might be today but then they went away. Was a nightmare this morning to DH, my moods are all over the place also, sometimes its good to have a good cry just to let all the emotions out! Pumped to the brim with hormones! Stoped going out as fed up with the 'oh my god shes massive' or 'has'nt she had that baby yet' looks I keep getting! Good luck to everyone, the end is near!

Congratulations bumpybel

Who's next? ;)

maewest · 10/07/2006 08:44

With you on the crying - last night DH was showing me how to use his old mobile (I am taking it over bc mine's on the blink) and he got a bit impatient and I just burst into tears - v embarrassing . It wasn't even a row! Then he felt terrible and sat there trying to comfort me, which naturally made me sob harder. Raining today and I'm itching to get some washing done (could this be nesting - I'm normally a bit of a slut when it comes to housework?)

algach - think I may be in denial about labour being potentially very close. Almost feels like if I don't prepare too much it's not going to happen yet, know that prob doesn't make sense. I'm mostly calm, but get the occasional moment of panic where I think I won't be able to do it.

maewest · 10/07/2006 08:46

Oh and meant to say congrats to bumpybel (got preghead on this morning), hope you're enjoying your first days as a family. xx
