Hi kayzed - well, it was the osteopath who told me my pelvis hadn't 'opened' on my last visit, so I guess it kind of depends on whether you believe in alternative stuff

Having had a caesarean with dd because she couldn't wiggle her way through my pubic bone, I'm pretty much prepared to do anything that might help this time round.

Hope things are moving for you. I was 'in labour' on and off for about a week with dd so know how it feels to be having all these contractions etc but no baby. Good Luck!

FirstAtForty · 05/07/2006 11:50

Morning girls

Congratulations to Koshka!!

Not much happening here apart from a foul temper (with accompanying guilt of course!). Cramping seems to have stopped altogether.

Gave the dog a very bad haircut yesterday as was feeling sorry for her lying there panting in the horrible heat - good job there aren't any mirrors down there at her level

Pinkdolly - I'm in Bath, where thank god the weather seems to have broken overnight - no sun and much cooler than yesterday.

Am booked for a sweep on Friday (which will be 40 +5) - though they did say I could change my mind when I get there and just have a checkup. At the moment thinking I may as well go for it as this waiting around is NOT FUN!! Feeling very much like a watched pot (or whatever the expression is...)

Usandbump, have you tried sitting with wet kitchen roll / flannels round raised ankles? Feels divine, if you can get peace to do it for long enough!

Good luck to nixnoo and kayzed, and good luck to all with keeping cool!! xxx

Kosha - Many congrats on your little boy, what lovely names.

HC - How did the haircut go?

Tomorrow I'll be 40 weeks and it seems that this one is going to never move.

Got caught in the rain while in the city centre. I was the only one not running for cover, it was so cool and refreshing Not that I could run even if I wanted too

Off to see mw on Friday to discuss sweep and induction

Hope everyone is feeling better now it's cooler. Hope we'll get some more babies soon

kbaby · 05/07/2006 13:33

HC i dont know how you do it. After DD I could barely find the time or energy to make a cup of tea let alone get my hair cut. I had it cut and highlighted on Saturday because I know I cant go for a while and wanted to look half decent in the baby pics.

I called to see my mw and my bp was 100/60 and no protein so it is just the heat.

TMI but I just threw up, I dont know if the iron tablets I just started taking or the fact that I was so hungry that when I ate it overloaded my tummy. In work im used to eating all the time so it may have been the later. Now my tummy muscles are killing me.

ITs a bit cooler here but the house just seems to be keeping all the heat in and theres no where for me to sit in the garden as DH still hasnt got the garden furniture out of the garage yet.

seven · 05/07/2006 14:29

hello, mind if i join in? due sunday, sooooo bored waiting, dd1 was born at 38 wks so have been waiting for this one to come out since wk 37, tried everything, pineapple, raspberry tea (which, can you over do?) jumping on bed with dd1, and dh hot baths, hot food, reflexology and homepathy caulp. Wow KZ congrats! I was wondering where you were today!

Wonder how Nixnoo is?

FirstatForty, I have been using a foot spa which is Heaven! Last night DP was washing me down with a cold cold flannel which was bliss

Let us know how you get on Puddy

Glad all is ok Kbaby, hope the sickness stops though as if you're not uncomfortable enough already.

Hi seven and welcome I know exactly how you are feeling, I'm 40+2 and pretty fed up now. No sign of anything happening for me, hope your posting works

Firstatforty, I'm in Bristol, so a westcountry lass too (tho not originally).

And welcome to seven - I've got just over 3 weeks to go (seems ages) and can really sympathise. Sending you positive vibes

Hi to all,
Just a quick post. Will write a more detailed message later! First, thanks so much for all of your lovely messages. DH was well impressed at the mumsnet lovelies.....and was very chuffed to get positive feedback on our birth post.
Charlie is lovely and we're doing great. Pretty sore, pretty tired but all good.
Koshka- huge congrats to you on the safe arrival of Jake Josef (very cool names!)
Firstatforty - good luck with the sweep on Friday.
KZ - Congrats on the arrival of your dd- sounds like you have a great birth story. Rest up and then let us have the gories. I'll take my own advice there, too!

HumphreysCorner · 05/07/2006 17:51

Ooh-congratulations to kayzed and your lovely new baby girl. Can't wait to hear what names you choose.

Our haircut went perfect with DD1 being an absolute angel. Went to have some passport photos done in a booth but when I got home I noticed that the form says you can't have your mouth open so have wasted £3.50 and my hair will be a mess next time!GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Have a terrible leakage problem and ended up walking round town with 2 wet patches on my t-shirt-the breast pads are not working!

Welcome to newbies.

Time to get tea ready but a bit knackered as done too much walking today.

Love to all

xxx

IamBlossom · 05/07/2006 19:26

God HC, CHILL OUT!!! Stop doing so much u'll wear yourself out!! LOL at your mouth open in pictures, had visions of you sitting there with your tongue lolling....

CONGRATULATIONS KayZed, wow she must have been a speedy one, can't wait to hear all the details.

Hi Seven, welcome! I have bought Raspberry Leaf Tea capsules and the dosage on that is 2 tablets, three times a day, don't know how that translates to cups though.......

Hi Spub, glad you are doing well, and that we managed to impress Hub to Spub!

As you can tell from this post, in that it is more than 3 moody words, I am loving the cooler weather - i could have cried when I saw the rain this morning, with relief. I am NOT much fun to live with right now. Although I have to say DS is being a cuddly lovely squidgy gorge of a boy and I could eat him and am really enjoying spending quality time with him before the next one gets here.

Having said that, HURRY UP AND GET HERE ALREADY!! I am only 37 weeks today but sooooooooooo ready.

Went final bits for labour bag shopping with my equally preggers sister today which was fun. It's her first time so she is following a list she has to the letter, down to arnica tablets etc which I can't be bothered with, but it was fun to go and do the shopping and discuss it with her.

Does anyone else's other half seem to be acting like nothing is about to happen? My DH is thinking absolutely nothing of going fishing in some godforsaken place all night, and acted shocked when I suggested he hang around nearer home these days, or, god forbid, not neck 6 cans of strongbow while he fished? You know, just a thought, silly me.........

So glad to hear all the baby news, keep in touch all,

love Bloss

Lovely rain down here in Bristol too (never thought I'd say that!). Today bought raspberry leaf capsules, arnica and some BIG pants. Going to start assembling hosp bag tomorrow, even tho planning on homebirth think it's best to be prepared. Any recommendations on breast pads those who've don this before?

lilianna · 05/07/2006 21:04

avent washable i find are the best breast pads.
They hold more.

lilianna · 05/07/2006 21:05

i also found they are more comfy

FirstAtForty · 05/07/2006 21:21

I have a friend who is evangelical about recommending the 'breast shell' nipple covers - they are kind of a double layered moulded plastic and silicone structure which sits over the nipples and collect leaking milk which can later be emptied into a feeding bottle if you're expressing. I guess they don't leak unless you have tons of milk - however they are a bit alarming if you go around saying 'tap my tits' - as my friend did - as they do resonate a bit !! Avent do some called Avent Isis Comfort Breast Shells for about a tenner, Boots also do some for about £4.50.

Haven't tried them myself obviously as haven't given birth but will post a progress report when I can as I don't think she'll ever forgive me if I don't try them!!

jom · 05/07/2006 21:22

Welcome to all the new ladies with bumps joining us!

Huge congrats to Koshka and Kayzed Can't wait to hear your birth story Kayzed as you were going to be solo, hope all went OK for you in there and that you've agreed on a name!

HC- Hope you find time to relax in there somewhere!

Loving the cooler weather but feet are still huge and ankles are starting to go the same way too. Have mw appt tom so hopefully bp will be OK. Not much else to report unfortunately. 38+2 today.

HellKat · 06/07/2006 04:30

Hijack
Humphreys- Huge congrats hun. I was in hospital so missed all the excitement. Fabulous news.

Good luck all!

jom · 06/07/2006 04:34

Hi ladies it's me again! Can't sleep so I thought I'd see if theres any new developments from anyone but no....

Hope you're all managing to get some sleep I think I'll go back to bed and try and get some more in before DS wakes. Goodnight!!

jom · 06/07/2006 04:37

Kayzed - Hope your experience with your hospital was much better for you this time round than when you went in recently

Really am off to bed now as its daylight!!

jersey · 06/07/2006 07:31

Hi still here! Congrats Koshka and Kayzed on your newbies, hope I'm as fast Kayzed. No more contractions since Sunday night but very uncomfortable and hot and emotional at the moment. DS is in terrible 2's with avengence and ended up sitting in tears last night that I couldn't cope.

So glad for the storms yesterday and its raining today so hoping its going to be cooler.

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow, and hoping something will happen soon.

Went to hypertension clinic on tuesday and they have signed me off so I can use the birth centre so long as everything stays the same.

Good luck to everyone else and hope we get some more deliveries soon.

puddytat99 · 06/07/2006 11:36

KZ - Huge congrats hun. Can't wait to hear the names you've decided on. Take care

Jersey - Good to hear from you, it's been a while. Sending you a huge hug. Was all emotionally last Saturday. Ended up smashing a glass by accident and the flood gates opened. Did feel better after though.

Well I'm 40 WEEKS TODAY!!!!!! Have had some twinges in my front and back. Plus back ache with a feeling of pressure really low in my bump. Not getting too excited as I'm sure it will stop. Going out for a walk in the rain to see if gravity can help.

All take care of those lovely babies and bumps
