Kbaby, are you having any twinges at all?

I am having nothing at all i think a few twinges would at least keep my hopes up that this baby may come out one day.

Is it still hot where you are? I am so fed up of the sun atm.
I am having a sweep tomorrow i hope, that makes me 40+4 so fingers crossed. For you too.

HumphreysCorner · 26/07/2006 13:27

Hi Everyone

Not posted for ages due to extreme lazyness brought on by even more extreme heat! Congratulations to everyone who has had their LO since I was last on here! there are so many and I'm so jealous! I'm officially 1 day overdue today but think it will be the first of many as MW examined me yesterday and I am not even far enough along for a sweep yet!

Although I'm very fed up of being pregnant I don't think I'm mentally prepared to actually have a baby! Anyone else feel like this?? my antenatal group tease me for coments like "if I go into labour" and "if I have a baby" I seem to be in denial of the inevitability and I can't associate my wiggly tummy with a real live baby in any way. I see the new mums in my class with their tiny babies but I can't get broody at all (unless its kittens!)

Eek I sound depressed reading that back but I'm not at all! (unless i'm in denial about that too )

Good luck to everyone else waiting!

maewest · 26/07/2006 15:27

Not fair - more people having babies Congrats jom and sunita.

2 days to EDD for me, occasional twinge but nothing conclusive. Trying not to be a neurotic first-time mum and think 'is this it' every time. My mum is now staying with us, took me out to yoga today (met 2 more new babes) and we'll be going to meet my NCT group tomorrow. Her car has AIRCON! woohoo!

fingers crossed for you algach - really hope you get your homebirth xx

Wallace · 26/07/2006 18:14

Just to quickly let you know that I had a baby boy at 2:45 on Tuesday morning (25th) All went really well. Will post with more details later

FirstAtForty · 26/07/2006 18:57

Big congratulations to Jersey, Straightforward, Jeanie, Sunita, Jom and now Wallace!! Hope I haven't forgotten anyone, need to catch up properly on posts but it's been mad busy with relatives and other visitors this last week, and still they come - aaaaargh!

UsAndBump - yes, was a bit of a dramatic birth and not what I expected (though I didn't really know what I expected!) , but the main thing is she's fine now. Stiches / piles are giving me gyp at the moment, not sure exactly which! Feels stretched, uncomfortable and pressured 'down there' - was fine to begin with but my industrial strength painkillers have run out now so maybe that's why!

Birth story - Emma was distressed in 2nd stage labour as her umbilical cord was wrapped round her neck 5 times hence the need for ventouse to get her out quickly. Thankfully she was okay, the crash team was called and gave her oxygen but she didn't need rescusitating. The doctor said she had never seen an umbilical cord wrapped that many times before, it was abnormally long apparently... It was all a bit like watching a film due to my (much appreciated) anasthetic of gas and air and pethidine, so I didn't actually find it that distressing myself at the time. DH had a bit of a hard time with it though, being 'sober' !!

Entropy - that denial thing sounds very familiar - I just couldn't associate the bump with an actual baby and would not have been surprised if I had given birth to kittens or something - or found out that it was just an extreme case of beri beri! Still doesn't seem possible when Emma's lying on my lap that she fitted 'inside' just 10 days ago!

Sending lots of labour vibes to those still waiting !!!

madness · 26/07/2006 19:18

dd was born monday evening despite me also being drunk on G&A...

IamBlossom · 26/07/2006 19:28

madness, wallace, 1st@40, well done all of you, fantastic!

Algach, KBaby, Maewest, Entropy - still here still pregnant. EDD was today, and midwife gave me a sweep this morning, I did think it has started things off this afternoon with quite regular pains and pooing loads (sorry TMI) but all seems to have gone off now.

Curry for tea with guess what for afters - PINEAPPLE!!!

Wallace · 26/07/2006 20:59

Good luck Bloss and the others still waiting, and congratultions to all those with new babies

Here's my story!
It was a really good birth. On monday afternoon as was starting to thijnk that the fairly painful, regular contractions I was having may be more than BHs! Still went for supper at MIL's and then later sent dh to Tesco. I went for a bath at about 10, and that took a lot of the pain away so I thought perhaps it was a false alarm. When I got out of the bath I the pains started to get stronger again, so when dh came back from Tesco he phoned his mum to come and look after ds and dd. She arrived just before 1, and we headed to the hospital. We arrived at 1:15 ish and by the time I was examined 30 mins later I was 5 cm dilated. The midwife ran the pool, and not long before I got in I decided it was time to start using gas and air! That and the pool combined to make things more comfy. Not long after I got in the pool, I started feeling a lot of pressure. My midwife had told me that she had never done a waterbirth, so she would need to call the midwife in charge when the time came to deliver. Suddenly I was pushing and the head was half out and she had to dash from the room yelling for the other midwife, who then delivered the baby onto me He was born only 90 minutes after arriving at the hospital. I must have been pushing for less than 10 minutes - I pushed for hours with the first two!

He was 8 pounds 4, and really gorgeous with brown hair. He hasn't got a name yet!

HumphreysCorner · 26/07/2006 21:24

Congratulations ladies-gosh, there can't be many left now.

Come on Bloss sounds like you may ve next!

hello!
i'll catch up on everyone's news soon but wanted to let you all know that Jemma Grace was born on 21st July at 3.50pm weighing 6lb13!

Got to the hospital and was 9cm dilated - don't know how I managed that...but Jemma still didn't want to come out! So I ended up having a venteuse delivery eventually...Not the nicest experience to put it mildly but Jemma is absolutely gorgeous so well worth it!

Hang in there to anyone still waiting!
love
Sharon

IamBlossom · 27/07/2006 08:11

wallace, that sounds textbok, hope mine is as smooth. Soon would do.

Congrats Shazeroo!!

Sweep has acheived nothng as far as I can see, have less twinges and BHs this morning than I have had all week, and not had the show the midwife said I should expect from it. Looks like I may slip into August, how very frustrating.

Kbaby, maewest, Entropy, Algach how you doing today?

agalch · 27/07/2006 09:29

Hi all

Congrats Shazeroo and well done for mamaging to 9cms at home!!

Iamblossom i am still hanging on.I have just spent 15 mins on my bed crying my eyes out
My mw just phoned to say she can't see me today so i have to go and see her tomorrow at 9.30 for my antenatal and to do a sweep.I know it's only one more day but i'm 40+4 today and i wanted to do something positive ie the sweep. It did work for me last time so heres hoping.

Feel really depressed now, need to put my happy smiley mummy face on for the kids.

Take care all

xx

IamBlossom · 27/07/2006 11:06

Oh Algach, chin up sweetie pie, I know exactly how you are feeling, although I am only 40+1 so worse for you. It's the frsutration more than anything isn't it, cos actually there ISN'T anything positive you can do!

Big hug hon

agalch · 27/07/2006 12:17

Thanks Blossom

Am hiding at home today and phone switched off, can't face anyone asking me how the sweep went lol.

I'm also pi*d off with my mum.She was meant to be coming to look after my dd(nearly 2) and ds2(nearly 11) but decided to let my niece stay with her for a few days.Knowing that i could go anytime. My mw has said that dp must be monitering the water temp of the pool all the time so my mum really has to be here. She said yesterday that if its during the day its no problem but she doesn't know what to as my dad works night shift.

She is taking said favoured child shopping for clothes today and popping in so don't know if i can even bear to speak to her,i am so fed up.Dp keeps saying we don't need her and we can manage on our own but it would be reassurance if i had to transfer to hosp that dp could come with me instead of going on my own.

Anyway will speak to mw tomorrow and see what she thinks.Just hoping cervix is soft enough and open to do the sweep.

Cheers Blossom and hope things go soon for you too.

IamBlossom · 27/07/2006 13:47

God that IS annoying, couldn't she shelve plans with your niece until you don't need her quite so much? I understand your DP's attitude, my DH is the same, but I only have one DS and my MIL is coming up this weekend to help with him, so I know how needed a break is especially when you are feeling like this.

Good luck with the sweep tomorrow. No sign of anything from mine this end. Off to sit in front of the fan. Again.

deblaca · 27/07/2006 13:58

hello ladies

sorry but haven't had internet access for the past two weeks and haven't had a chance to read through all your posts ..... so firstly congratulations to all those of you who've had you're babies.

Edan was born on Thursday 13th July all gorgeous 8lb 7oz (3.83kg) of him .... will post his birth story as soon as i get a chance .... for now he's beautiful - we're having some difficulties breast feeding but we're both getting there and i've become obsessed with his poo.

hope you';re all well
xx S and E

maewest · 27/07/2006 18:29

Congrats deblaca

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time algach, good luck for your appt tomorrow. My next antenatal is Monday, by which point I will be 40+3, so obv hoping I don't make it .

More tightenings and twinges, but trying not to think about it too much. Also embarrasingly windy . Trying to keep positive, and this babe will come eventually.

agalch · 27/07/2006 18:43

Great to hear your news Deblaca!!Can't wait to read your story, you lucky thing getting to the other side and able to join the post natal bunch.

Hi Maewest,i am hoping to go over the weekend and then my dp is off for a week from Monday. He can't get more time off so i'm panicking about having baby 2 weeks late and being on my own with the ds's and dd and bf a new baby.Eeek, what a thought.
Will let you know how i get on with sweep and fingers crossed we both have our lo's over the weekend.

take care xx

kbaby · 27/07/2006 20:55

algach, I hope something happens soon for you. I seem to get twinges in the night but I could be imagining them, my back aches and the bh get stronger but nothing ever happens and its not enough to keep me awake. Im sorry your feeling so crappy at the moment, I can empathise with you as I seem to spend every evening lately in tears over DD(2.2) Tantrums and hope that the lo ariving doesnt make them worse as I can barely cope now.

Tomorrow is my due date so im going for a long brisk walk and ive just eaten another pineapple.

Wallace and others - well done

Im not booked in for a sweep until 40+7 as apparently thats the hosp policy. Cant believe some of you have had sweeps on your edd

agalch · 27/07/2006 21:10

Kbaby i have eaten 2 pineapples in 2 days lol.And it hasn't worked. And i had a curry last sat and that didn't work either, not fair.

I worry about how i'm going to cope with dd who's almost 2 and a new lo.Although this is no4 my boys were 4 yrs apart and it was easy with that age gap. There is 9 yrs between dd and ds2 so really easy and i am bricking it atm.

Anyway take care and fingers crossed for you xx

IamBlossom · 27/07/2006 21:13

CONGRATS Deblaca! Great name. Well done you.

KBaby they won't do my sister's until she is 41 weeks either, I was surprised my MW offered on my EDD, but I think the fact that she had no more appts after me and is now on holiday for two weeks helped - she wanted to do me herself IYSWIM.

I have got excruciating back ache. Can barely move. No BHs or contractions but this ain't normal. I've either done my back in or it's the start of something, I'll keep you posted by, well, posting!

xx

agalch · 28/07/2006 08:42
