Ahh mrsb. Im also thinking about harmony. Im 32 too but also overweight. I need to research more, but think there is more likelihood of me needing the other tests (forget what they are called). The only person I know who had them was a similar size to me. But maybe that's a coincidence.

Cheapest Ive seen is £400 which is a lot.

GinandStripes · 20/10/2013 18:35

wispa I have a similarish problem to you. We are currently renting but are looking to buy but can't afford the price of postage stamp in the East End, so looking South East. But not sure when this will happen, it might be after but could very well be before - so I've picked the hospital that is easiest to get to from there!

GinandStripes · 20/10/2013 18:37

MrsB & Jaykay - I'm 33 and am not concerned about my age at all. Which means you've now worried me into thinking I should be worried about my age. Confused

GillyBillyWilly · 20/10/2013 18:44

Ladies don't worry about your age! That's the average age for women to have their first nowadays... Some have them a lot later!
My sister is 34 and had her first when she was 32 and is pregnant again now with her 2nd. She doesn't worry about her age AT ALL!!!!!!

MTMD · 20/10/2013 18:49

Uno I spent the whole weekend sleeping! Was out of bed for about 4 hours each day - max! Normally I'd end up with the headache with too much sleep but this feels good. Husband decided im sleeping for 3 :) Don't look forward to another week of work, though!

DH came back from shops with lots of crisps and jars of pickles Grin I managed one cheese and pickle sandwich and some yogurt today.. Still feeling rotten..

Unoriginalusername123 · 20/10/2013 19:02

I'm totally dreading work tomorrow. Obviously haven't told them yet but I'm thinking that no matter what, they might take issue with me going for a two hour nap every three hours. Ho hum...

And I'm an 'older first-time Mum-to-be' too - the grand ol' age of 32. I hadn't realised that made me ancient?! ;-)

Unoriginalusername123 · 20/10/2013 19:06

MTMD, try and eat. That's the only thing stopping me from feeling sick. Bizarre, isn't it?

GillyBillyWilly · 20/10/2013 19:06

Oooh I'm feeling young...!
27 in 2 weeks! Grin

CleverOl10 · 20/10/2013 19:07

jay I'm over weight too. When I had my first, the only extra test I had due to it was one for gestational diabetes. I think they just keep a close eye on blood pressure too.

unoriginal/mtmd - I've felt sick for the first time today. I've got lots of work to do for a meeting sorry....not quite sure when I'll feel good enough to do it! any hints and tricks you've found would be useful!Smile

gilly - that's not helpful!Wink you got any plans for your birthday?

thanks clever. good to know.

MTMD · 20/10/2013 19:13

Gilly are we sharing a birthday? Cake DH was planning a weekend away but I don't think that's happening any more. Unless my energy comes back but then I'll be too worried :) Poor babes, can't really please us, can they? :)

Eating makes me feel worse. It's as if any food just gets stuck and stays in my stomach for ages Hmm

LondonSuperTrooper · 20/10/2013 19:14

Jay If my scan goes well tomorrow then I'll think about booking the Harmony test. I will ring the clinic and tell them my BMI before booking anything though as I've also heard that if you are overweight then Harmony may not work.
I wouldn't worry about your age though, the risks only kick in after the age if 35. I'm celebrating my 40th birthday in November.

LondonSuperTrooper · 20/10/2013 19:15

Thanks for updating the list Jay.

Penguin13 · 20/10/2013 19:16

Oh dear am hoplessly behind after organising our officemove this week. Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies!

I'm really glad my colleagues know I'm pg as I'm seriously bushed after working sat as well and they're all being lovely and caring.

Anyone else struggling to eat quite as healthily as they intended? Since queasiness kicked in this week I've paradoxically become an eating machine and it's not the healthiest food I've been snaffling Blush Resolving to turn over a new leaf this week.

Can I join your 'ancient' first timers club unoriginal?
I'm 33 Smile

jaykay987 · 20/10/2013 19:30

Good to know London. Thanks.

There seems to be quite a gathering of 'ancient' first timers on here! That's good to know!

GinandStripes · 20/10/2013 19:30

Penguin I am eating mostly Sandwiches and Biscuits. Boyfriend has just gone to the shop to buy Pizza.

I got a punnet of plums to try and be healthier but they taste rubbish to me. Think I better turn them into a crumble and serve with lashings of cream! Only problem is I can't face preparing food, so I'll have to instruct him indoors from the sofa!

Yep... I thought I was going to be so healthy!

GillyBillyWilly · 20/10/2013 19:31

Ooooh mtmd... Maybe! My birthday is November 3rd Smile

Going to disneyland Paris with DH plus my sister+her family on 30th oct for a few days. My sister is pregnant too (due on Boxing Day) so she won't be going on any rides and neither will I!

She knows I'm pregnant but her husband doesn't... I'm sure he will have guessed by the end of the first day!!!! Grin

Back late on Saturday 2nd, they're all staying at our house in London that night ..... then we're all driving down to Devon (where they, and the rest of my family, live) on Sunday 3rd!

DH and I will stay down there for a few nights then back to London on Wednesday 6th!

Then it's only 2 weeks til my scan Smile

Mitchell2 · 20/10/2013 19:33

God, I'm 34 and will be 35 when I pop.... If that makes you guys ancient what am I Penguin and unoriginal ? Wink

jessieagain · 20/10/2013 19:33

Hi everyone I'm pregnant with #2, due on the 1st of July.

Not feeling very well at the moment and hope it is my hormones adjusting or something and I feel better soon. Nausea already. Also im so hungry all the time and am trying so hard to stick to healthy foods as I don't want to start piling the weight on so early.

I had a quick read of the thread. I haven't thought about any tests at all. If you wait for the 20 week scan it would pick everything up wont it?

MTMD · 20/10/2013 19:36

gilly sounds amazing! My bday is a couple of days later. And I'm a few years older ;)

jessieagain · 20/10/2013 19:41

Also I'm trying to work out when to tell my mum and my best friend. I will want to tell then earlyish as I will want to tell them if it all goes wrong but I don't want to tell them too early either. I'm thinking 6 weeks I'll tell them. The rest can wait till after 12 months.

Last time I waited until around 16 weeks to tell some and also work, and they guessed first (was feeling a little paranoid so thought I would wait till they guessed).

GillyBillyWilly · 20/10/2013 19:42

Haha Wink

I'm excited cos it breaks up the 4 week wait til my scan quite nicely!

1 week in work this week.... Then off to disneyland and Devon for a week or so.... Then just 2 more weeks to wait! Doesn't seem so far away when I break it up like that Grin

MyNameIsWinkly · 20/10/2013 19:43

I'm 32 as well.

I'll be having an early scan, I had one last time and it showed we had lost the pregnancy. I was glad because I had no signs of the loss at all and I could have blithely gone to my 12 week scan thinking all was well, having spent another 3 weeks getting invested in the pregnancy.

But then, I had the scan the last time because of a deep seated bad feeling which I don't have at all this time, so I'm hoping for a different result!
