Not yet, Rock. Waiting on blood results. Docs seemed baffled last night. I'm so relieved that I've had no pain this morning. Last night I was panicking that I was going to give birth way too soon to a tiny thing that wouldn't survive outside the womb. But looks like be or she is comfy in there and not ready to come out yet Smile

Oh goodness, far too much to catch up with. Hello everyone

birthplans Not even remotely thought about giving birth. I think I'm in denial a bit - I watched my sister being born when I was 3 and it scarred me for life. I'm almost considering begging for a CS under general anaesthetic

NCT I signed up and really looking forward to it. Mainly see it as a way to make friends. We're moving out of London, hopefully by next month, in what has been the most stressful house sale/purchase ever so I'll be going in the hope I can latch on to some local women and not scare them away with my desperation. Serious q - how do you make new friends as an adult?

grey can I ask what you're planning to do with your placenta?!

My friend told me at the weekend she's planning a lotus birth with her next one. Not to be all judgy I am really I may disown her, or at least not visit while her precious, pure new baby is still attached to its rotting, stinking fleshbag

Lyra how scary for you but glad you're feeling better. Hope it doesn't happen again. Sorry not to respond to everyone else going through horrid times by name but sending Thanks

Going to shut up now. Not posted for ages and now I've written an essay.

Phew Lyra but hope you find some simple and non-stressful cause so you can properly relax.

Magpie it is a perfect time to make new adult friends. We moved when I was 6mo last last and I knew noone in my new/current village. NCT was good (though my catchment was really wide so some are a long way away) but I met people at the children's centre groups then later at the library and play group. Just ask how old their baby is, say how cute they are, ask how they're getting on etc. If they are friendly and nice, convo soon moves onto grown up stuff too. If not then - nothing lost! You'll be grand.

Sorry - I wasn't clear - I meant the stuff about children's centre etc for after the baby arrives. Not so easy beforehand! Although NCT bumps and babies groups also welcome preggers ladies (you don't have to be a member of NCT or have done their antenatal and groups are usually free).

Lyra, you poor sod, I'm thinking of you Thanks

Magpie, please post more often, you really make me laugh; so irreverent! I don't understand the rancid Lotus hippie bullshit either. Why can't people just be normal?

This week I have gained exactly six pounds according to my (two pairs of) scales. In one week. My diet has been no different (I even had none of last night's pear & pecan pie); I quit Greggs yonks ago and can't remember the last time I ate chocolate. My clothes feel exactly the same and I feel great, really healthy and energetic. Is there some growth spurt going on somewhere inside? Any suggestions?

Pram I gained 5lbs in a week a couple of weeks ago - I ate a bit more than normal but not a lot so can only put it down to Pebble having a grow - my bump seemed to get bigger anyway!

Can I ask how much weight we've all put on so far? I'm on 10lbs exactly from pre pregnancy, with DS it was over 1.5 stone at this point Blush

Good luck with Damian, although I'm still not convinced that you hate him as much as you like to make out :)

TheChickOfRock, until this morning I had gained exactly a stone in weight. That is now 1st 6lbs. When I was going through IVF I swore I wouldn't give a shit about weight if only I could have my longed-for pregnancy. I feel ashamed that I am so perplexed and upset by this week's gain, but I honestly feel and look great. I don't understand it and that's what is bothering me, I suppose. I feel better that you had quite a leap in one week, too. Thanks for sharing. I must say my tits and bump are massive so I shouldn't be surprised but the silence from almost every other poster leads me to believe it's only me gaining weight Hmm

I don't hate Damian, I just find him intolerable Grin

...maybe other posters aren't weighing themselves religiously every week, in which case I salute them. I wish I hadn't started.

I've put on a 1lb since my booking appointment.

But I lost 6lbs in the months after that, so I've actually gained half a stone in the space of 2 weeks. I'm not fussed though, we're pregnant!

Elaborate on lotus births or weigh gain?

Report
prambo2thereturn · 12/10/2013 11:47

Hottie, maybe there's a twenty-week spurt? There are 3650 calories in one pound, so in order to gain six pounds of weight from eating I would have had to consume an extra 21,900 extra calories in one week. Obviously there is summat else going on that is completely unrelated to calorie consumption

Oh lotus birth. Well it's when you leave the placenta attached till it falls off on it's own. You carry out round in a little bag. It takes about a week to fall off.

I thought someone wanted one. I'll look back through the thread....

No-one wants one here. Moosey wants to take hers home in a Netto carrier bag but I think it's for the dog. You know, like a doggie bag from a restaurant?

Pram my bump is a very different shape to when I was carrying DS - he was all out in front, this little girl is a rounder bump if that makes sense - doesn't look on pics like I'm that big, but all my (non maternity, but very long) tops are getting progressively shorter. Tits still haven't grown Angry but my jeans are still falling down so hopefully bump is all the weight gain. I'll put a pic on fb to try and show you!
