Welcome penny, sorry, this must be a scary day to join for a first timer. I must say I didn't find out about MN until 20wks with dd and wish I'd found it sooner. It's worth more than any book/magazine/tv prog.

Well, I decided to book in for another scan tomorrow, esp. after it was smaller than expected last time plus the spotting that is still going on. Will check back in tomorrow.

ProfYaffle · 17/08/2006 21:39

Good luck nova.

morocco · 17/08/2006 21:42

so so sorry to hear your news pinkranger.

hope all is OK with you k1w1 - thinking of you.

welcome penny, don['t worry, I'm dead emotional all the time and it's my 3rd. Just avoid all the charity appeals or you will end up crying and penniless.

good luck with the scan fatfox. I stillhaven't booked for a nuchal - it'll be too late by the time I get round to it!

no pregnancy news here - the morning sickness seems almost over, I've got loads of energy cos I've been staying at my mums minus kids all week so it's been like a mini holiday. ds1 is a bit sick though and dh just phoned up for advice on taking him to hospital (he has a weak immune system so this is not abnormal) so I'm a bit stressed and googling things I shouldn't. will try to go to bed

pennygaff · 17/08/2006 21:55

Thanks for the welcome everyone, really glad I joined, look forward to hearing everybodys news. 10pm is starting to feel like 3am, got to get to bed.

chitchat07 · 18/08/2006 08:46

Welcome Penny. I'm a first timer too, so everything is both exciting and worrying at the same time! Suffing from all day MS but, contrary creature that I am, if I wasn't suffering, I'd be worrying as to why I wasn't!!!!!

leogaela · 18/08/2006 08:47

Its great to have you with us Penny! When I was pregnant with DS I wasn't so much emotional as distracted, I was so overexcited about it that I couldn't concentrate at work for the whole pregnancy. This time I have been much calmer about it but am very emotional bursting into tears at the smallest things - well I was calmer until I found out on Monday that its twins!

Fatfox - good luck today wiht the nuchal!

Jay - great news that you finally have your moving date! But where will you have your 12 week scan now?

Nova - have they given you another scan date? i hope everything is OK

I'm waiting impatiently over the next few weeks until you have all had scans to see if any of you are going to come and join me as a mum of twins or more !

I'm also feeling better - maybe its just because I'm at home alone this morning ! We have decided to put ds into nursery some extra days so I can rest more, dh got him up and ready and took him, I didn't have to get out of bed until they were long gone! Bliss!

I'm a wine drinker - I really missed it the last pregnancy and did have the occassional glass, but so far this pregnancy I've lost interest!

Piffle · 18/08/2006 09:46

I've gone off alcohol big time esp when I smell it on dp. I got cravings for lager last pregancy (while suffering hyperemesis bizarre or what) so not wanting any is damned relief - I did say that only a pregnancy could save me from alcoholism
I feel totally grim - I wonder though... I was bad last weekend, when do went to work (he works away) this week I have been ok for the most part
DS came back from his fathers yesterday and I spent the whole evening puking
This morning, he is so messy I can feel myself stressing and getting more and more pukey feeling
I need to be able to detach and not care.

Good luck today nova and fatfox

eidsvold · 18/08/2006 10:46

i will pass out if I join you leggy!

fatfox · 18/08/2006 11:12

Hi there and welcome to Penny

Thanks for your kind thoughts everyone. Please keep your ovaries crossed for nova and I this afternoon.

Ditto can't wait until everyone has had their scans - roll in that second trimester.

Leo, I forgot to congratulate you on your twins! I must admit I feel slightly envious

Morocco, I've been meaning to ask you, whereabouts in Morocco did you live? Were you working there or is DH/DP Moroccan? I went there (20 years ago hitch-hiking, to the Atlas Mountains ) and we are going again a October half term. It was very beautiful and the people so friendly. It certainly felt a lot safer than when we were hitch-hiking in Spain and Portugal on the same trip!

Talk later

X

fatfox · 18/08/2006 11:17

PS

Sorry you're feeling so sick Piffle. Can you stick some DVDs on for DS and have a lie down?

There is a thread on messy homes somewhere on MN, it might make you feel better. Our house has been a tip all week and I feel too tired even to push the hoover round...well, that's my story anyway!

madhide · 18/08/2006 11:33

Hi All

Thinking of all of you having a difficult time at the moment

I am feeling much better bleeding has stopped and am just trying to take it easy although I did go into London yesterday evening to meet up with a couple opf friends which was really nice but didn't get home til 11.30 and as soon as my head hit the pillow dd woke and started to cry - typical! Anyway got a lie in this morning as dh took her to nursery

Am 10 wks today only 2 weeks til scan and cannot wait

Take care everyone

Piffle · 18/08/2006 11:36

ds is 12 and is no trouble really, he is a good kid, just pre teen
He is great with dd, helped bath her last night and he has hoovered for me today bless him (for financial inducement of course but hey)

Piffle · 18/08/2006 11:37

madhide so glad the bleeding has stopped!

fatfox · 18/08/2006 11:50

Madhide

Glad your bleeding as stopped. I had bleeding from 15-18 weeks with DD, it turned out to be erosion of the cervix.

Any idea what caused your? Or is it just "one of those things", as GPs say when they can't diagnose anything?

pinkranger · 18/08/2006 11:54

Hi everyone and thank you for you kind wishes

D&C went well except that we turned up at 10.30 and didnt get up to surgery until 5.45 , didnt get home until 10.30pm!! , there was a lady in one of the beds that didnt stop crying - all day, i know it very sad but didnt help me and the other 3 women who where trying to hold it together, Very grateful that i have my little boy who kept me strong through it!!
Am surprisingly feeling very positive about it all and we have both decied to try again straight away. What will be will be. My best friend had to give birth to have still born at 26 weeks so i think of my self as getting off lightly.

Good lUck to everyone else and thank you once again xxxxxxxx

babycakes26 · 18/08/2006 11:59

Oh that's good news about the bleeding Manhide

Thinking about those having scans today and can't wait to hear how you get on.

Welcome Penny - also expecting for first time and also struggling a little mentally although not so much physically. Had MS for the first time today!!! Urrrgh! Think it made me feel a little more pregnant so it's bearable at the moment. Also spoke to my midwife this morning at long last - got my booking in on Monday AM - I'll let you know how it goes - now 8+4 weeks. Now where did I put those ginger biscuits...have a relaxing weekend all...

P.S. Anyone else lost interest in work?? I am soooooo not interested at the moment which is not a good thing as my DH and I run our own business. Hopefully just a temporary blip

babycakes26 · 18/08/2006 12:04

Pinkranger - so lovely to hear from you at this really difficult time - I have been thinking about you a lot recently as I went through the same thing last time around - I also had to spend all day in hospital waiting for the surgery - it feels like forever! Just relax and take some time to let your body and soul recover - hope to hear from you again soon xxx

fatfox · 18/08/2006 12:09

Pinkranger

Very good to hear from you and I'm glad its all over so to speak and you are being very positive. Hope you can rest up for the weekend. I'll be sending lots of positive thoughts for you.

When I had a missed MC last year I was bleeding for two weeks before hand and was so anxious it was almost a relief when it happened. For two weeks I'd been scared to pick up the children, go out, go for walks etc. I'd had a friend who'd MC'd at 20 weeks after trying for 3 years to get pregnant, and two friends who had still births so felt I'd got off relatively lightly.

Good luck in future

pinkranger · 18/08/2006 12:13

Thank you girls,
I am very lucky that i am hardley bleeding at all , some cramps but thats all. I will be drinking lots of red wine over the next few weeks and i will make sure i have a glass for all you ladies xx -
I hope i have as nice ladies on my future threads xx

fatfox · 18/08/2006 12:20

Babycakes

I can't concentrate at work either. Just feel all dreamy and keep wanting to sneak off for looks on websites etc. Am off this week though. What kind of work do you and DH do?

Dear All
Did anyone hear the item on 3d scans on Woman's Hour this morning. Anyone ever had one, or thinking of having one at 20 weeks?

I'd love one, but they are hideously expensive. Could spend that £200 on a buggy etc.

Can you tell I'm passing the time until I have to leave for my scan at 1pm? Must remember to feed the kids though....

Jaysecond · 18/08/2006 12:31

Pinkranger, good to hear from you, glad its all over now, it cant have been nice for you. All the very best for the next one, good on you for wanting to try again soon, you have to drop by and let us know how its going! make sure you have more than one glass of wine for me!!!! [hugs]

Babycakes, at least running your own business you dont have to report to a boss! I guess it still has its downsides though! I am fortunate not to be working (although looking after my 7 mth old is a bit tough sometimes!) but i can fully understand your lack of intrest, take a few days off, relax a bit, yoou deserve it!

Madhide, good news re the bleeding, now make sure you rest up!

Piffle , send your DS round i could do with some help round the house! Tell him i can do £2 an hr!!! lol

Good luck nova and fatfox today, make sure you tell us ANY news straight away.

Well i managed to see my MW today, but it was only a 'brief' appointment. We decided not to do bloods and all the normal stuff at a 'booking' in as i am moving. She did test urine and took blood pressure, both of which were ok. She wrote up some provisional notes for me to take to the new doctor/midwife when i get there, as for the scan Leo, i am having it here. Its booked for the 31st so i have kept it at that. We then move on the 8th, if i didnt have it now then lord knows how long i might have had to wait when i get to Nottingham. So two weeks (ish) till my scan...why does it feel like its AGES away

10+5

Jaysecond · 18/08/2006 12:42

lol Fatfox, poor thing. Its horrid having to wait around, makes you all nervous and 'butterflyee' kinda loke waiting to go in for exams, or waiting to take your driving test.............if you know what i mean!
I had a 4d scan with my first. I had it at 32 weeks at a clinic in Harley Street. It was mind blowingly amazing!!!! it was called a bonding scan and wasnt so much to look for any defects ( but of curse if they saw anything they would tell you) more for you to see what baby looked like. I got a 20 mins DVD which i watched over and over again afterwards, aswell as a heap of pictures. Thing was when she came out she looked EXACTLY like her scam pic, it was spooky! I agree they can be expensive, but i think it was worth every penny. Got persaude DH that we have to do the same for the second, or else he/she will feel left out!!!

pennygaff · 18/08/2006 13:11

Hi Babycakes
Me and my DP also run our own business, but even worse we have just started out and really did'nt account for me getting preggers. The result is I don't really want to do much in the afternoons and my attention span is not so long. This has resulted in a few minor arguments, but it can't be helped and yes sometimes I can be found watching daytime TV with crisps . If you can't do it now when can you? thats what I say.

babycakes26 · 18/08/2006 14:36

Hey Penny - good advice!!! Daytime TV and crisps it is then We had just set up our business when I last got pregnant (unfortunately had mc at 13 wks) so I am taking it a little easier this time. I think I sort of put my plans on hold the last couple of years whilst we built the business - it is an added pressure. We now have a team though so finding it easier this time around. Although it will be much easier once everybody knows - having to discretely exit meetings to throw up isn't great for client relations but luckily I have not had much ms so far just some nausea last week or so. Your business will just work around you - sure you'll feel more like getting back into the swing of things in a month or so - well that's what I'm hoping for me anyway Then again I may retire!

stretchmarks · 18/08/2006 16:14

HI All,

Bad news from me I'm afraid I've had a missed miscarriage. Wishing you all happy healthy prgnancies I'll be popping back to see how you all get on.
