PinkTulips · 03/07/2006 18:02

just spent the last few hours on the beach and had a swim inthe freezing atlantic water.... fabulous! feel so much cheerier now

feel like such a bad mommy at the moment though, keep sneaking treats during the day and dd invariably catches me and i have to give her some... felt awful today when i noticed she's getting fairly chubby round the middle i can manage without everything but the ice lollies but we go through a fair few of them every day, esp in this heat, anyone know of any tasty suger free ice lollies i could switch to?

SnowBoo · 03/07/2006 20:59

Hi all, how are we doing?

Haven't been about as i've now given up work and sods law, my feet have given up so i'm dropping ds off at nursery, coming home, bathing my elephant-like ankles then hoofing back to school. Then i sit down and sleep.

Have got everything clean and ready apart from my hosp bag. Shocking as i've been packing it since 28 weeks and now at 35+4!!!!

Well off to eat some cucumber and put my leggies up!

Take care everyone x

SnowBoo · 03/07/2006 21:01

Pink, i always make my own for ds. Just put a tiny amount of apple juice in with water and he loves it. Thinks its a treat. And i feel less guilty in the process.

melsy · 04/07/2006 10:02

P tulips , sainsburys do these smoothy things in soft tubes in the yogurt section (4-5 in pack I think?), I put them in the freezer , theyre just pureeed fruits I think.

BigHotMama · 04/07/2006 11:01

Morning everyone!

All this talk of ice lollies is making me dribble onto my desk! Doesnt feel as hot as yesterday in the office - I am coping today! yesterday was just a killer - couldnt concentrate on anything except MN'ing lol!

I weighed myself this morning and ohmygod I'm piling on weight like there's no tomorrow and I'm not overeating either which is just crazy! DH keeps laughing saying its going to be 10lber like the midwife said! I'm in denial - must be water retention lol

7 more get-ups to go till I break up from work

Arabica · 04/07/2006 11:08

I feel sick today, i think it's nerves for my scan tomorrow. Just hoping I can get my work out of the way, it's going so slow...
wish it was this time next week, with cooler weather, my scan over with, a firm date for the c/s and absolutely no work to do.

muminaquandary · 04/07/2006 11:14

best of luck arabica xxxx

melsy · 04/07/2006 11:16

oh you do make me lol bhm , you have such a great sense of humour !! Just what I need today , as have therapy after lunch YUCK. I dont know how I eat on Tuesdays.

Glad the days to not working are coming soon bhm , youll be on here all day!!!

pink , your dip in the ocean sounds fab right now , Im very ous !!

Last night was ok at the Shiva , everyone was saying I looked good ,even though I was trussed up like a turkey with my strap belt belly thing, I have to wear layers to hide it all. Was sad to see his pictures all over the place and she had the kitchen table set for one for her supper after the service was done. Was quite poignent. I have the next shiva tommorow , but going during the day , as cant face another evening of prayers.

dd is sitting in front of cbeebs far to much these days ,its been on since 8:30 , Im either on here or doing minimal housework. Although she does come and sit with me doing coluring and stickers at intermittant episodes. Oh and I do get hugs thrown in!!!

Got to get her ready for nursury now , bless me mum coming to take her for me. I do need to do something for all my family helping out half the week.

melsy · 04/07/2006 11:19

aww Arabica missed your post there , with me (yuchning) on!!!I know of the anxiety you feel , although for different reasons. I keep trying to use distraction techniques, but not many sitting in the same room every day. What time is the scan ? Whose going with you ?

Arabica · 04/07/2006 11:29

Thanks. Glad shiva not too ghastly. Scan is at 9.40am and DH coming with me, hopefully not in denial mode. Afterwards we get a tour of the neonatal ward just in case baby needs special care. I'm looking forward to that as it'll make me feel less anxious if s/he needs to be there.

pucca · 04/07/2006 11:30

Hi everyone, isn't this heat crappy for us lot?! I just feel like wallowing in a cool bath but have dd to entertain so not very likely lol.

Have been to see the consultant this morning, nothing will change, i will still have section @ 39 weeks even though baby is BIG, tummy is measuring 41 weeks (sob sob)and i feel like my whole under carriage is gonna fall out lol. I really wish this stuffy weather would just p**s right off

Baby is just pushing his bum up now, not much kicking as such, poor lamb! all squished lol, been having loads of braxton hicks too.

Arabica...Hope your scan is ok, thinknig of you xxx

Arabica · 04/07/2006 11:33

LOL undercarriage falling out. Thought that was just me! Sometimes it feels as if the baby is trying to navigate a 3-point turn with its bottom, but it gets disillusioned and gives up. Bit like me when I was learning to drive (only managed 15 lessons).

BigHotMama · 04/07/2006 12:07

Melsy, I wont be able to come on everyday when I break up as dont have a pc at home but my parents do and they live 5 mins away so will get my fix somehow!

Arabica I hope everything goes ok at the scan x x

Pucca, am with you on the weather, I'm praying for snow, hail and rain at the moment..anything but this sticky hot sweaty sunshine! Never hated it so much! Have you got a date for you C/S yet?

pucca · 04/07/2006 12:18

BHM...No they won't give me a date yet, don't see the prob myself, i asked today if they could give me my proper date because DH is a manager of sorts and needs to organise all his workload for when he is off on paternity, but they said it likely to be 14th Aug and will give me actual date in 2 weeks...grrr!! lol.

eenywifemum · 04/07/2006 13:07

Hello Everybody!! Wow I knew with missing a day on here there would be loads to catch up on!

Arabica - Am thinking of you with your scan. Look forward to hearing how it goes!

Booby - Glad you are feeling happier - the ups and downs are bizarre arent they? of your pool!

Pucca - Wish they would give you a date!! That would be so much more convienent!

I know there must be three million other things I meant to say, sorry for forgetting it all but my brain is fried and I just cant sort it all out.

We had a busy weekend doing fun things for Salamanders birthday - it was great but almost all outdoors and walking and it all got too much for me. I was suffering really badly so today I am just staying in and relaxing... although I dont know if you can call it that since I still have housework to do, a MW appt this morning and parentcraft class tonight... so I am getting really upset and stressed because there is always so much to do. I never feel like I have got even half of it done and I can just relax and its been like this for weeks and weeks. I need a break badly, or a servant!

Hope everybody is staying as cool as possible - this heat is EVIL for us heavily pregnant women!

purpleturtle · 04/07/2006 13:15

I cleaned the fridge yesterday, as it was an excuse to stand somewhere cool!

In general I'm not doing too badly though. I always hate the heat, so this doesn't seem worse than usual at the moment.

I've taken my back support off for the last couple of days, because I think that the limp I've developed after mangling my toe is enough to deal with. My back needs to be able to compensate for that, and it couldn't when it was all strapped up. And it's a bit itchy in the heat.

PinkTulips · 04/07/2006 13:25

arabica, hope the scan goes ok sweetie, i'll be thinking of you.

just been in town buying dd and baby their presents from each other. got a cute little bear for dd to give baby and dd picked an activity table thing that'll drive me up the wall that she'll get when the baby comes. starting to feel sorted now as i managed to get a sling for cheap on e-bay and theres not really much else we need except bits and bobs that i can send dp out for if i need to. bit of an anti-climax though as i've been running around like a headless chicken for so long i don't really know what to do now that i'm somewhat organised!

got my scan tomorrow to check whether placenta has moved so fingers crossed it has and i won't need a cs as the mere thought of it makes me cry.

melsy, hope therapy goes well and doesn't leave you in to much of a mess this week

BigHotMama · 04/07/2006 13:30

Pucca thats rubbish aint it, especially if your dh needs to arrange stuff around it? Hope you get your date soon so you can get yourself prep'd.

Eeny go put your feet in a bowl of cold water - I'm at work and have just been told to go sit in kitchen with my feet in the bowl lol! was soooo refreshing and has cooled me down loads! Housework can wait cant it?

I cooked chicken fajitas last night and felt like I'd done a 2 hour workout the sweat was dripping off me and my back was aching, am officially off cooking duty until after the birth and DH said he'll do it from now on bless him! Really dont know how he puts up with me at the moment as was moaning about the heat all through the night and that the fan in our room was hitting him more than me bla bla bla I must have woken him up 5 or 6 times with my constant winging and this morning he got up as if nothing had happened and even washed up before work saying nothing! I'm resemble godzilla during the night and he is taking all the flack! Am feeling bit guilty today!

frodofitz · 04/07/2006 15:41

Thanks for the thoughts BHM, needed to finish work and although supposed to be taking it easy have tried for last 2 days to clear the shed and now i'm just giving up...seriously now is the time to acknowledge that i'm not superwoman and i CAN'T do everything still whilst pregnant!

Does anyone know how much Argos are charging for fans? Got a voucher so want to spend on me and can't afford anyhting cash wise at the mo....went on to on-line banking and it really is ridic how much this baby thing costs, there are loads of tranactions for Boots, superdrug, mothercare etc and i complain that we are skint!

I know this is really pathertic but phoned dh about an hour ago as i have found 2 suspicious looking marks on my belly, think they are stretch marks and although i know i am lucky only to have 2 i am absolutely gutted as i thought i'd gotten away with it! Very upset about this so don't mock too much!

Don't worry about your mood BHM last week i was that pissed off with people taking me for a mug that i ended up pinning my sister up against the wall with a view to knocking her sodding head off-she is satan's child in disguise and i've been the only person left who would put up with her...but no more! Actually helped the depression some what too as i felt it's the most assertive and confident i have felt for a long time and now i don['t have to put up with her and her evil ways!!!! I know that sounds quite mean but my therapist agreed too so i can't have been totally in the wrong!
xx

Aussiemama · 04/07/2006 16:05

Just thought I'd add a quick message to tell you all something that made me laugh today at work (Yr 1 class in a Primary school).

We were reading a poem all about love and I said,
"What's adore?"
Child: "Something you open."

BigHotMama · 04/07/2006 16:51

Frodo, we bought a tower fan from asda which swivels and its fab, bought it for £30 so not sure if you want to spend that much! We take it everywhere with us lol, bit like a pet ha! It comes to bed with us at night and even into front room to watch tv with us and its light to carry.
Re stretchmarks, I am checking myself for them as we speak as been too lucky so far not to have any, my stomach is going bit blotchy in places and I am preparing myself for them to appear in the next few weeks, slapping on the cream good and proper! if they come they come and at least there's a beautiful story behind them.

Aussiemama, lol at that comment - kids do say the funniest things- so innocent bless!

Hopefully going to pick up our new car - aircon at last yeah!

olivo · 04/07/2006 17:10

hello everyone!
arabica, hope yuor scan has gone ok.
melsy, hope you are ok after your appt.

parked in a space next to a wall, very pleased with myself as it was close to the doors etc tried to get out sideways, couldnt and then got stuck frontwards - i was mortified but at elast provided some entertainment for a man waiting to be picked up !! I'm on strike with shopping
from now on!!

noodlekitkat · 04/07/2006 17:42

Hi All,

Hope everyone is well? Have been away from the chat for a few months. Just got back from Paris where I spent the weekend hiding under trees.

So Hot!! May start doing toilet paper measuring to my ankles?!

xxxNKK

frodofitz · 04/07/2006 19:33

Cheers BHM think i've got about £30 in vouchers so will have to beg if any more!
Alas the stretchmarks were scratches! Been looking at them all afternoon but looking like they are disappearing....phew! Good reminder to keep on with the potions though!
Olivo can totally sympathise, had the same experience but had to then clamber into the passenger side to get out and found myself in a compromising situation with the gear stick!!!!!

sarahlou1uk · 04/07/2006 21:51

frodo - found one for you at Argos!
