I don't want this baby early either - and it's my first so no siblings to consider. I don't feel practically or emotionally ready or prepared and an so worn out with work that I need a couple of weeks to switch off and gear up. 39th week would suit me perfectly, are you listening baby?

Natalieand · 24/08/2013 19:49

Lol soup its reassuring to hear I'm not the only as one time mum having these worries.

I think deep down although we don't really want them 'early' (pre 37 weeks) no one wants to go over 40 weeks we count desperately everyday to that little old due date and yet for many of us the chances are it will come and go before we hold out bundles x

claphammama · 24/08/2013 20:23

oh dear... I can't move. The biggest Chinese take away ever... I was full half way through but kept eating out of pure greed.

talking about going over 40 weeks. Two of DP's close cousins were due last week (baby boom in the family!) - one was due last Wednesday and one yesterday - no sign of babies yet! I would be quite happy to have mine at 38-39 weeks. Don't want him to get too big!!
And yes, like orange, now I also begin to wonder when someone disappears for a couple of days!

legally so exciting! Can't wait to know what you have Smile

glad you are feeling better natalie

I'm so knackered today, like an old lady and I haven't really done anything. Went shopping for a couple of hours but with long coffee cake breaks. It killed me though and have been on the sofa since 4.30pm

Bought the last things today - maternity pads, disposable knickers, protective mats for the mattress. Oh... the shock on DP's face as we were shopping and I was explaining what they were and why I needed them. Priceless Grin Grin Grin

Warlin · 24/08/2013 20:24

Ah ok I must go to H&B then as mine is just raspberry. I have never heard or seen raspberry leaf tea.

Jealous of all the shopping and bargains people have got. I can't face or get the time for shopping these days..and any I do is for ds rather than me :(

clapham I'm 34.5 weeks but had ds at 37 so hoping the same again...! Dh finally put the cotbed together today and I'm really pleased with it. I couldn't justify another boori one so I got a boori cheaper range new on eBay and its def not far off our other one but was much cheaper. Pleased with my bargain :)

My rings have always been ok, though got tight when it was really hot. I haven't had much swelling so far.

Dh out tonight so I have the house to myself...baby in bed, dog walked, finally some lovely me time :)

Hope everyone has a good sat night

PseudoBadger · 24/08/2013 20:24

I just made a yummy lasagne. We had Chinese last night Clapham, it was lovely.

Natalieand · 24/08/2013 20:35

I had Chinese last night too pseudo not having anything tonight as gobbled plenty of party food at my sisters.

I still need to make a start on my hospital bag and a over night bag for dd too. I'd rather dd's bag was sorted than my own so I'm not stressing that she doesn't have her favourite teddy etc while I'm in hospital as silly as it sounds

claphammama · 24/08/2013 20:37

yum pseudo...

warlin enjoy your quiet night, so much needed now and then!

I bought DP a camera for his birthday - it's in 10 days but obviously he couldn't wait and is now playing with it and reading all the 300 pages of the manual... Not expecting to speak to him this weekend then. And I'm already half blinded by the flash... what's the difference between grown men and children again??

Soupqueen · 24/08/2013 20:41

Black bean chilli with ciabatta, cheese, soured cream and guacamole here, it was delicious.

clapham, I'm impressed he's reading the instructions! DH refuses to and it drives me bonkers.

Natalieand · 24/08/2013 20:43

It does make me chuckle when we talk about our dh/df/dp.... Is as if we are all talking about the same person sometimes lol

cazboldy · 24/08/2013 20:44

we had nigella's mexican lasagne - most i've managed to eat in ages!

Flyer747 · 24/08/2013 20:45

I have enchiladas in the oven as we speak...that's about the lengths my culinary expertise stretch (old El Paso Grin)

The clipper seems to have the most % of raspberry leaf in it I researched today, starting to worry about myself googling such things Shock

Flyer747 · 24/08/2013 20:46

Oh and a custard cream slice for dessert.

Warlin · 24/08/2013 20:47

clapham hope my dh doesn't ask for a camera Shock. They are expensive.

It's my dh's bday on the 3rd and reckon he'll want something golf related as he's slightly obsessed :) it's mine on the 20th so we could end up with 3 September bdays!

claphammama · 24/08/2013 20:57

sounds like we are all eating well tonight!

warlin is your DP's birthday on 3rd Sept too? Same as my DP! Which year? Mine is 1974. And yes, cameras are a shocker... but it's the last time I can buy him something like this if I'm going to stop working. Our lifestyle will change quite a lot once my salary is gone so the last year of big presents I expect...

and soup don't give him too much credit! He normally doesn't read instructions, ever. And doesn't ask for directions. Then things go terribly wrong and it takes twice as long to fix them. He was quite lost with this one though so probably for the best

and yes nat this is often my thought - are we all with the same man...??? Grin

Natalieand · 24/08/2013 20:59

My dads birthday is sept 3rd :-)

Shirehobbit · 24/08/2013 21:08

Evening all Smile

Pretty fruitless charity shop trawl - barely anything baby-related. Will be great for toddler toys in a couple of years, though.

We stopped out for lunch - managed three courses with no ill effects! Really nice and I guess it could be one of our last times like that for some time.
We were also royally entertained by a group of 30-40 people in dressing gowns in the pub garden opposite, clearly on an all day bender. Such an alien concept to us, now.

Flyer747 · 24/08/2013 21:20

Can no longer eat big portions...anyone else getting really full very easily?

Dp and I took our dog to the park today, it's a lovely Victorian park, and a group of kids no older than 13 threw a glass strongbow bottle at our dog then threw another one at a family near us. WTF is with some teenagers these days, I'd never have behaved this way, and I'd go crazy if my child ever did. Rant over.

Shirehobbit · 24/08/2013 21:29

I've not been able to eat lots for a long time, especially in the evenings. But I think my bump has dropped a bit?
Plus, we took a couple of hours over the meal. It was lovely.

MotherOfNations · 24/08/2013 21:47

A couple of ds's friends who weren't invited to the DVD night came over at lunch time and I Tod ds after an hour or so that he'd have to get them to leave so he could come and actually choose the DVD he wanted. He didn't listen until it got too late. In the end only one friend turned up so I subscribed to the Lovefilm free trial so they could choose a film to watch through his Xbox in his bedroom and ordered them pizza and chips from the chippie.
Since they're happy up in the bedroom there was no need for us to go out.

Sometimes I think my DS spends far too much time in his bedroom on the bloody Xbox but I suppose I should be grateful he's not out drinking and causing mischief like the little shits you encountered Flyer .

Pinkforboys · 24/08/2013 21:54

Haha- just discovered a 'bladder weakness' section on Boots website. So sad that I find this really exciting...

thethreeblondies · 24/08/2013 22:30

Little tip for those starting on raspberry leaf tea, I found it nicer if I added a dash of blackcurrant squash to add some flavour, drank it when pg both times and had reflexology too, after DD1 came at 37/38 weeks (depending on which dates u believed!) and labour was straightforward, I tried to emulate the same 2nd time around, DD2 came bang on due date, nice quick birth, so I'm planning on doing same again Grin

char1eston · 24/08/2013 22:33

Hi ladies. I hope you don't mind me asking this but who had further tests following their 12 week scan? One of my Nct friends (from dd) has just had her scan and bloods and has come back with high odds of chromosomal abnormality.
MoN - am I right in saying that you had the amnio? I have told her that there were at least 3 ladies on this thread who had high risk odds to start with but everything is fine.
I really feel for her as there are currently 3 of us in our group who are pg and she's just gone off in hols so will have to wait til she gets back next week to talk to anyone about it.
I think she's got 1:2 odds of having something and 1:88 odds of patau's.
I just want to give her as much support as I can.

legallyblond · 24/08/2013 22:34

Sounds like everyone has been eating well tonight / today!!

DH is going away tomorrow to the Outer Hebrides until Thurs Shock.... Just in case, my hospital bag and an overnight bag for DD is now packed. Plus I washed and put away all the newborn and 0-3 month stuff this week, so of it came to it, we're ready. Really really wouldn't want to go into labour while DH is 16 hours away though Sad.

I keep on thinking that I'm organised super early, bug I guess I'm not really... Am 35 weeks today and, given they're coming in 2 and a bit weeks, it's just like being ready from 38 weeks with one, which I pretty much was last time. I've still got bits to do, but if it came to it, we're there!

Flyer747 · 24/08/2013 22:48

Three I believe reflexology can help bring labour on. Will def be trying this at 37 weeks. Funnily enough the ankle area represents the reproductive systems in reflexology so they often say this is why you get swollen ankles, not sure if this is true or simply a myth.

Legally not long now I hope the babies stay safe inside until dh gets back.

claphammama · 24/08/2013 22:50

oh legally do you have anyone to help in case something happens next week? fingers crossed the twins will stay in for a couple of weeks longer though. Would it really take him 16 hours to get back if needed? x

flyer what little shits. Teenagers scare me. The thought of having them... But ours will be lovely and super well behaved right? I can't get The Inbetweeners out of my head!
