nat my rings are always tighter in hot weather, pregnant or not. My wedding ring has been noticeably tighter in the last few days.

roofio87 · 23/08/2013 22:20

yep rings definitley tighter in the warm weather here too!!

Haylebop12 · 23/08/2013 22:21

nat not had my rings on for weeks.

I do take them off a lot though as my job being quite physical I don't like to damage them. So I'm fairy used to not wearing them. Took a while to get used to it though.

thethreeblondies · 23/08/2013 22:22

Hey ladies I'll struggle to keep up this wkend as we are down in Dawlish Warren till Monday and signal is a bit rubbish, apartment and holiday park are a bit on the basic shabby side but can't grumble as it was a Sun holiday and cost us about £100! Went to the beach this afternoon and don't think it's changed in the 20 years since I was last here! Grin love a bit of retro seaside amusements/rides!

Natalieand · 23/08/2013 22:24

Hope u have a nice break threeblondies xx

Pinkforboys · 23/08/2013 22:26

nat if it was as hot and humid with you today as it was here that might have made your fingers swell a little. If you're worried you could always put it on a chain around your neck rather than your finger til bubba is born and your body gets back to normal.

flyer thanks for explaining. I may preserve my anonymity for a few weeks longer and then come over to see all the newborn pics if I may...

Is/has anyone else read the Game of Throne books? Between book4 and the wood pigeons i got little sleep last night. Have just downloaded Bk5 thinking great- the last one!! Only to just read on wiki that there are 2 more books planned tho not written. Sigh. It's taken over my life the last 3months and I was really hoping to get closure

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 23/08/2013 22:42

Just popping on to say goodbye for a week - DD and I are heading up North tomorrow to stay with my family whilst DP heads off on his holiday/expedition. Didn't fancy staying at home whilst he has all the fun, but feeling rather daunted by the prospect of keeping DD entertained for 5 hours on the train.

Hope you all (babies included) keep well and look forward to catching up with pages and pages of chat on my return.

Racheld33 · 23/08/2013 22:46

nat my rings were difficult to remove as from last week, so now only wear them for special occasions (meals out!)
I remember last pregnancy the final 4 weeks they did not fit, so expected it again this time!

MrsHoratioNelson · 23/08/2013 22:49

But presumably you'd wash the wipes in between face and bums Grin

textbook · 23/08/2013 22:51

Pink I've read the GoT books and got very obsessed - so much so that when I finished I waited about 6 months then read them all again! I feel your pain Smile

LostMySocks · 23/08/2013 23:06

Read an article recently that lower temp washing cycles don't always kill all bugs. I'm still going to do reusable nappies but will make sure that I do nice hot washes.

legallyblond · 23/08/2013 23:12

Arrgh... It's so much harder to keep up now I am on maternity leave!!! Sooo much busier at home than at work (DD, plus sorting the house and bang stuff, plus DH is setting up a new business and it us crazy busy at the mo..).

Re the wipes, as I said, huggies pure were the only ones that passed the "eye make up removing" test... We also used (and will use again) cotton wool plus water for DD as a new born. Flyer, we used the extra large (extra large are waaay better) balls and a bowl of water. We switched to washable nappies at about 8 weeks, but I never bothered with washable wipes for some reason... I might this time, but probably not!

DD is v tall and thin Nat... She's 2.10 and a week or so now and well over 1 metre... Probably about 1.15/2... But I am 5'11" and pretty slim, so it makes sense!

Hope everyone sleeps well!

legallyblond · 23/08/2013 23:14

Lost - I washed nappies at 60 degrees with tots bots potion washing powder, which is antibacterial and specially for washable nappies.

GTbaby · 24/08/2013 00:26

Large cotton pads (the non baby supermarket own brand are good) are better then the cotton balls. The balls when wet seem to shrink.

GTbaby · 24/08/2013 00:39

Omg nat. Your the first person to say that about huggies wipes. Everyone else I mention it to says they like the texture.
Dh bought loads on offer. They are now used just for cleaning up lo after food. And dusting in our bed rooms lol. N not on his bum as it gets frustrating taking them out of the packet and them tearing.

Ps I'm catching up backwards.

MotherOfNations · 24/08/2013 01:10

I'm with Nat on the huggies wipes. I can't stand the feel of them and they sting. I hated huggies nappies too and everyone else seems to love them, they always bloody leaked. I used to like Asda Shea butter wipes but I haven't seen them for a while.

chickieno1 · 24/08/2013 01:51

Congrats rockchick Flowers

chickieno1 · 24/08/2013 01:56

pink I'm reading GoT and due to start book 5 but taking a break :) I thought the tv show was really well done. I might watch them again during night feeds with newborn :)

Ouch re clexane injections. Was on them at home post CS last time. Have you had dvt s in the past?? Hopefully these last weeks fly for you x

chickieno1 · 24/08/2013 02:02

I used cotton wool and wipes for ages too. The best ones were asda baby ones which were large and in a blue, pink bag. Discovered the large pads were better and used them for loads of things in the end. Even taking off my makeup :) they were cheap too I think two packs for £2.50.

Lidl wipes were good too when ds older. For hands etc when weaning. They were strong and large and about 79p a pack.

Natalieand · 24/08/2013 02:46

Prisci · 24/08/2013 07:42

Poor you nat, I did not have a great night sleep either mostly due to being uncomfortable and MIL from hell arriving this afternoon. she already annoyed me even before arriving, I was looking over DH shoulder when he was checking his Facebook page and she had posted a comment on a pic that her daughter had put of her reporting some news :"daughter almost as famous as mother", I am sure it was not even as a joke, she truly meant it, she is not even famous, she has written a couple of novel who sold at about 200 copies each but that's all. I know it is the hormones, and it has nothing to do with me but it is going to be a challenging week, I have to remember, keep quiet and smile...

Thank you for the padded bras advice, I have ordered them already (33weeks) since i dropped just before the birth with DS2.

I use large cotton pads and Mustela cleansing lotion for the first few months, then move onto Huggies baby wipes, but I have wipes around, they are so handy.

At Xmas it will just be the 5 of us, since both side of the family will have come in November and we live very far away from them (I.e. different continents). I bought a cute cuddly toy and will have to do a stocking so DS1 and DS2 don't wonder why Father Christmas forgot the baby, will probably fill it up with first toothbrush, a book or two and whatever she might need at the time.

Sorry for the long post and the rant, can't help it Blush.

Soupqueen · 24/08/2013 08:53

Nod and smile, prisci, nod and smile!

Another rubbish nights sleep for me, at least I can take it a bit easier today with no work. We're going book shopping this morning, v exciting!

I'm planning to use reusable wipes, hadn't thought about the bum/face issue - might just get 2 different colours.

Have a lovely holiday bridget

I'm still wearing my rings. I slip them off a couple of times a day to check for swelling.

clapham, glad you love Edinburgh, I do feel very privileged to live here, it's an awesome city. I'm a wee bit over the festivals after 14 years and have found the crowds a bit challenging this year but the International, Book and Fringe festivals all do amazing children's events so I'm looking forward to getting a whole new perspective on them from next year Grin

Have a lovely Saturday ladies!

Pinkforboys · 24/08/2013 08:58

Good Morning Ladies. What a fine soggy morning it is too. At least the wood pigeons were drowned out this morning so I got to sleep thru til 7.15 Shock. DS then entertained me with a story he made up about giant dragons and wicked witches- mad imagination.

You've got me all in a tizzzy about which wipes to order now. I liked the natural degradable ones- Naty I think they're called now, but they're rarely on a good affordable deal. I love the idea of cutting up a fleece- thanks for that. Personally I'm okay with a hot wash for flannels & wipes.
I had same huggies experience as MoN and preferred Pampers which rarely leaked for DS.

I admire those of you going for the washable ones, I got into such a mess with them last time, I'd love to hear which ones you're using.

Pinkforboys · 24/08/2013 09:04

Chick the dvt socks are hopefully helping the circulation to my v ugly v.vein. the back of my leg looks like a purple waterfall. I"d never suffered pre pg.

GoT boxset sounds like a great way to bf...I've got GreenWing to dig out too.

Nat hope you get to have a power nap this pm x
