Great news coffebeanz (although it would have been if it was a girl as well!!) - hoping we can find out at 20wk scan. Little bean will have to be more co-operative than at the 12wk one though, refused to be photographed nicely!

Had my bump touched for the first time yesterday not a stranger as such but a woman I don't know very well at work - I really wish people wouldn't do that

trinityrhino · 02/08/2006 13:25

aww, a little buy, congrats coffee

trinityrhino · 02/08/2006 13:26

ooops boy even

ELM · 02/08/2006 15:22

Great news Coffee! can't wait til the rest of us can find out! Is there anyone on our thread that doesn't want to know?

Loubie37 · 02/08/2006 15:56

Me - I don't!! I think it's a very personal choice, there's no right or wrong answer here....I found out I was having a boy 7 weeks before I had him (that was back in the days where they didn't tell you, but I had to have a scan at 33 weeks and it was so obvious!)and although I was delighted at the time (I already had a DD) I regretted knowing when he arrived, it was like Christmas morning with no surprises....

So this time we're not finding out. There's not many suprises in this world, I want this to be one of them. And I want DH to tell me what we've been blessed with, not a sonographer we've never met before

Deep down I think I'm having a boy though

saltcod · 02/08/2006 17:07

Ah...... congratulations, Coffeebeanz. Have you got any names in mind yet? I think this one's a little boy too, just a gut feeling!

We're not planning on finding out the sex, (although it would be easier knowing from dd's point of view) but would rather have the surprise & enjoy the guessing games! Very tempted to find out, though. Just hope I don't cave in at my 22 wk scan

I was convinced I'd developed a nice little bump this week...... went out in clothes that I thought really showed it off & bumped into 2 different friends. And neither of them guessed . Guess I still just look like I've eaten too many pies then!

elliepippamummy · 02/08/2006 17:15

Congrats coffebeanz and now you you can go and splurge on some blue things My best friend has just phone to tell me shes had her 1st baby a little girl called Isabel Rose at 1.05pm weighing 7lb 13oz and she had a 9 hour labour which I thought was fairly short for 1st time but ended up with ventouse and being preped for emegency section as she had a fever of 40o & abys heartbeat went into distress but thankfully they are bothok got to stay in for a few days so off to town to splurge on pink clothing tomorrow and visit her tomorrow night as she doesnt feel up to visitors oday understandably!!

Dragonhart · 02/08/2006 18:11

WOw Coffeebenz! It must be weird to know what you have in there. I was talking to my DH about the fact that it is already a boy or girl even though we dont know. We wont be finding out. Didn't lask time and as I have to have a C section this time, we want to keep everything as close to what it was before. Also love choosing boys and girl names.

DS had his eye appt and all went well. He had to have drops in his eyes then wait for the eye test. The optometrist who put the drops in got a really dirty look from DS when she put them in! They make his eyes dilated so that they can test them with lights and those lens things they use for adults. His eyes are really dilated and I dont think he can see very well as he keeps bumping into things or missing things when he tries to reach for them. They said that they wanted to see him in 6 months to check him again and see if it has got worse. Feel as if I was worrying over nothing now!

I am 17 weeks today- it is flying by! Last time all I was thinking aobut was being pregnant but this time I am so busy with DS that I seem to be forgeting I am preg all the time. Keep eating things I am not suposed to or rolling onto my front in bed and remembering!

ELM · 02/08/2006 19:19

oops..sorry didn't mean to imply that people should (or shouldn't) find out, obviously it's a very personal choice
It is interesting to hear peoples different reasons though [nosey emoticon!!]
We want to find out because secretly DP wants a boy, and deep down I want a girl, although we will both count ourselves blessed to have a healthy baby of either sex.

But I am still thrilled for you coffee

DH: glad it went well at the eye app for DS.

Loubie37 · 03/08/2006 08:11

ELM - sorry if I gave the wrong impression there, I didn't intend to!! Sorry

How is everyone, it seems strange now that we're talking about whether we're having boys/girls etc when only a few weeks ago we were all willing ourselves and each other to hang on to our babies! It's a nice position to be in though - I've just started to think recently that yes, I'm actually going to have this baby!!

Will catch up with you all later, need to get the kids ready and off to summer school

saltcod · 03/08/2006 09:36

Loubie, ELM, don't think either of you gave the wrong impression! I'm sure it'll be pretty much 50/50 on this board for those who want to find out the sex beforehand & those who don't .

Dragonhart · 03/08/2006 10:25

I agree. It is interesting to find out what people think on the 'to find out or not to find out the sex' quiestion. Funny how everyone has different reasons either way.

DS's pupils are still MASSIVE. A bit worried about taking him out but I suppose if I put a sun hat one he will be ok. Blasted sun is back. I was rather enjoying the 3 days of rain to be honest!

trinityrhino · 03/08/2006 10:28

I wasn't able to find out with dd1, chose not to with dd2 and as yet I'm undecided on this one

laughalot · 03/08/2006 12:08

Hi everyone hope you are all ok and hope all babies are ok to . Im a bit upset today and need to talk to someone so here goes, I had my bloods took last thursday for my downs syndrome and spina bifda when I had my ds two years ago I had a high risk chance he was going to have downs so I went and had the amniocinticis done and it was a disaster they couldnt get enough fluid so it took them 4 weeks to get the results back in which time I was going crazy waiting for a answer from the hospital, thank goodness all was well in the end and I had my darling aidan. Now this is the bit im upset about I texted my midwife this morning to ask if she had my results back as I am getting really uptight and worried it will all happen again she was very prompt and text me back to say she needs to speak to me and will ring me today pm............. its got to be bad news im so worried. I am so sorry I know you all have alot on your plate but I needed to get it all out.

ELM · 03/08/2006 14:53

Oh Laughalot, you poor thing you must be so worried ((((BIG HUGS)))) the waiting must be terrible. Am keeping everything crossed for you, and will keep checking back to check for your news.

Loubie - was just so worried I may have offended you and others on here!

laughalot · 03/08/2006 15:40

Well still no news its driving me mad I wish she would just ring. I wasnt offended by what anyone has posted on here I think its fab that some of us want to know and others dont , ill keep you all updated

Loubie37 · 03/08/2006 15:47

And I was worried I'd offended you ELM!!

Laughalot - hope the midwife rings soon, surely she must know that every minute seems like an hour at times like this?? Big hugs x

laughalot · 03/08/2006 17:21

Shes rung thank godness and guess what they have lost my blood sample so I need to go back they make me so mad all that for nothing.

magnolia1 · 03/08/2006 17:51

Congrats on a boy Coffee

Laughalot, how annoying and distressing for you hun xxxxx I sometimes wonder why we put so much trust in so called proffesionals but what choice do we have?

I am feeling crap with back pain at the moment and I can't find my maternity notes AAARRRRGGGGHHHH.

Kids driving me mad and I have 6 six week old puppies to wean but they go in 2 weeks time so back to the normal chaos of 2 cats, 2 dogs, 4 kids and a husband

coffeebeanz · 03/08/2006 17:57

Laughalot - try not to worry they lost my bloods with pregnancy no 1 too. Its SO annoying, but they will keep an extra special check on this one and wizz it thro asap.

DH : big hugs to DS

Thanks for all your good wishes girls. I'm so pleased although I would have been equally as pleased with a girl as we already have one of each. I never wanted to find out with either of my other two for exactly the same reasons as someone said earlier that a)there arent many really true surprises in life and b)I wanted my DH to be the first person to tell me the fruits of my labour (literally !). I dont know what changed our mind this time, but even before we got the results we decided not to tell anybody in RL until he is born.

In my heart I knew it was a boy and I could kick myself now for not buying anything in the Next sale, all the good stuff has gone now !
Must go and finish packing - camping in the Lakes this weekend. Hope the weather stays good !

2Happy · 04/08/2006 08:56

Morning all. I'm filling time before leaving for my scan this morning. I don't know about finding out the sex, I knew I didn't want to know for ds, but this time I'm less sure. dh doesn't want to know, but he's at work and won't be there, so I'm in a quandry! My morning sickness is definitely imrpoving, thank goodness. Can't face breakfast today, but I've had it every other day this week. I just wish the insomnia would go too.
Laughalot - I hope they take care of the next set of bloods a bit better!
Dragonhart - how are ds's eyes now?
Magnolia - 6 puppies, 2 cats, 2 dogs, 4 kids and a husband.....no wonder you've got back pain!! Seriously, I hope it improves quickly.
Coffee - congrats on the boy!

Nemo1977 · 04/08/2006 09:05

cant belive sexing scans are ocming around.

Congrates coffeebeanz on a little boy!!!

WE have our scan at the end of the month..will try to find out sex just to see if I should be hoarding dds clothes as I have bags ful. Although DD would not let us know which proved a nice surprise but ds we knew and it was nice for bonding especially as he was our first. Hope everyone is well.

ELM · 04/08/2006 09:21

morning! 16 weeks today!!
Have the day off work so going to lie back and put my feet up, not! Time to clean the house, go food shopping, and start preparing for a bbq tonight. Have decided, even tho baking is not one of my strong points to try a vanilla and lemon cheesecake (a baked one so I should be able to eat it?? providing it turns out edible!!)
Laughalot: what a nightmare over the bloods! Why couldn't she have just said that in the first place tho instead of having you wait and imagine all sorts of things??
Magnolia; sorry to hear about the back pain, hope you feel better soon

laughalot · 04/08/2006 12:03

find out find out im so excited about my scan but its not untill the 29 th august so ages to wait yet, I bet because I want to know what it is it will have its legs firmly shut. I feel better today after yesterday with the midwife and in all my ranting and raving I dident say special congrats to coffee on her little boy . Well im 17 weeks and still havent really felt baby moving but heard the heartbeat last week so im not panacking to much however its such a nice feeling when they do start moving.

jessddibs · 04/08/2006 14:49

good afternoon all! Glad to hear that most of you are all ok. I am feeling a little better now, only the odd pain, so hopefully it is just 'stretching' pains.

The weather is now perfect, dry, sunny but not hot at all. Love it!

I do and i don't want to find out the sex. But dh wants to, so for purely pratical reasons if we can we will. It will be nice to be able to shop for certain coloured clothes and nursery decore etc.

Feeling really teird at the mo, so am gonna catch up with all the things i have sky plus'd while dd potters around. She is shatterd as well, she actually asked if she could stay in her pj's all day and veg out!! Love her.x.
