Hi, I've had 3 scans done so far - at 5 wks, 6 wks and 7wks and the first 2 were done vaginally and the last one the normal way. So I would go with a fairly full bladder just in case - they'll give you the opportunity to go to the loo if they decide to do it trans vaginally :)

Good luck, hope it goes well :)

Trinity!!!! Excellent news hun I am so pleased it's all ok Smile xxx

Lizziemun: It depends, they will probably do a normal scan 1st so yes a full bladder needed, if it's not very clear they may ask you to empty the bladder and do an internal scan which is not bad at all Smile

Everyone else: Hope you are all well. I have my Nuchal scan tomorrow and soooooo nervous. Will let you all know how I get on tomorrow night Smile

lizziemun · 13/06/2006 21:00

thanks loubie

does the internal one hurt.

lizziemun · 13/06/2006 21:02

Thanks magnoli.

magnolia1 · 13/06/2006 21:33

No hun it doesn't hurt, I have a sensitive cervix and a smear always hurts me but the internal scan was fine Smile

indignatio · 14/06/2006 07:35

Morning all - so glad to read all the happy news
I hadn't thought of folic acid being the culprit for the sickness
Still no scan date for me - bet it arrives for next week when I'm in Singapore - just my luck
Spent £15 getting into Paulton's Park yesterday only to find that every interesting ride has "not for pregnant women" on it. Interestingly ds was much better at going on the more scary rides if he was going on with somebody elses mummy - guess my nervous disposition shines through even when I'm trying hard to hide it. Also had meeting at ds's big school last night for info on starting reception in September - my little boy is growing up !!

lizziemun · 14/06/2006 08:13

thanks magnolia,

sorry not to answer last night but so tired went to bed.

the reason i asked is because my cervix is around the wrong way so unless i tell the nurse i always bleed when i have a smear where they try and poke around.

Loubie37 · 14/06/2006 11:32

I've had my scan (no.4 Blush and everything is fine!! :)The only problem was I was 40 minutes late going in, by which time I was absolutely bursting - the sonographer laughed and said I should be proud of my bladder, it's the biggest one she's ever seen! :o

They had a good look round and tried to see where the bleeding is coming from, but couldn't see anything....but she said that's normally the case with people like me, most times the bleeding is unexplained which reassured me.

I felt guilty (again) taking up their time when there's nothing wrong, but they said not to worry and that I've done the right thing each time. Hopefully I won't be going back until my 12 week one now which is 3 weeks tomorrow :):)

I've decided to stay off work today as I've been feeling very lightheaded the last couple of days so I'm off to put my feet up now :)

Hope everyone else is well?

Loubie xx

Loubie37 · 14/06/2006 14:55

Oh no Lizziemun, does that mean you had bad news at your scan? If so, I'm so sorry, and feel guilty now for being so happy about mine being OK :( Why do these things happen?? Big hugs, like I said, I'm so sorry xx

MerlinsBeard · 14/06/2006 18:15

lizziemun · 14/06/2006 19:59

loubi

i'm glad that you are ok, don't feel guilty, i had a feeling when i got up this morning that i hsd lost the baby the clinic just confirmed that.

the early pregnancy clinic are going to ask my dr to refer me to the ivf clinic for further help as its taken 18 mths to get pregnant after dd who also took 18ths to conceive.

But i not going to let this us from trying again when we feel ready.

mumofsteven i may post on some other thread

Hattie2 · 14/06/2006 22:13

Hi all - nearly couldn't find you - I'm offline for a few days and there's a new thread!

Really sorry to hear you're leaving lizziemum :(

Pleased to hear the good news from everyone else.

No sickness at the moment but I feel HUGE - only have a couple of skirts I can wear to work at the moment, don't want to wear maternity clothes yet as I'm not telling anyone there until after the 12 week scan.

trinityrhino · 15/06/2006 06:33

so sorry to hear that lizziemum Sad

Loubie37 · 15/06/2006 07:40

Thanks Lizziemun, you struck a chord with me as our stories re the bleeding are so similar which is why I feel guilty I think.

I hope you're back with good news again cvery soon ((((hugs))))

Loubie xx

skerriesmum · 15/06/2006 21:25

so sorry lizziemum...
I was relieved today when GP felt my uterus and said it was nice and big! Next appointment she should be able to get a heartbeat!

laughalot · 16/06/2006 10:43

Hi everyone hope you are all ok, lizziemum im so sorry to hear your news hope you feel better soon. Well im on a real downer today I have a few niggles in my tummy nothing to serious but I know that they are there and its worrying the hell out of me, my scan is next friday and I think that fear is starting to set in you know that panicking felling thinking what if something is wrong even though I had my early scan and saw babies heartbeat im still worried. Iv also got that thing going on at the minute like how will I cope with two children, and will my ds feel pushed out that is upsetting me alot I know in the long run it is good for him to have a bro or sis but I feel so guilty, sorry to moan I know I should be happy that im not having problems like some of you are but I cant help it Sad

elliepippamummy · 16/06/2006 12:14

Laughalot know how you are feeling I'm the same, keep worrying over everything and don't remember being like this with DD think sometimes the internet provides to much info! Also wondering how to cope with two. Got my scan on 5th July but we are going away from 24th June to 1st July so hoping that will pass time quickly and I'll relax and chill about the whole thing

2Happy · 16/06/2006 14:49

Lizziemum, so sorry to hear your news Sad
Laughalot - totally know where you're coming from. My mum is soooo convinced this pregnancy is a mistake and I won't be able to cope with two kids so close together, I'm starting to believe her and just not enjoying this pregnancy. But I spoke to someone today who had 17months between her first two and she said it was all good, so maybe I should just ignore my mother (now that'd be a first I'm sure....Wink)
By the way, am I the only person in their first trimester to have actually gone down a bra size?! Blinking morning sickness!

ELM · 16/06/2006 15:14

Hi everyone...TGIF! This weekend I'm going to put my feet up, admire DP putting a shed up, and perhaps helping to paint it. And organise underfloor heating, solar panels, and chase the double glazing people.... we are having an extension built, what a time to decide to have a baby!
Everyone else seems so organised!
Speaking of which, it has just dawned on me that we're having a baby Grin, up to now I've been so focused on morning sickness, hayfever that I don't think it's really sunk in.. GrinYou can tell I'm a first timer!

Loubie37 · 17/06/2006 09:48

Hi

Sorry I've not been around for a couple of days - I went back to work on Thursday and it's worn me out! I can't believe how tired I am - I get to about 7pm and I could quite happily go to bed and stay there till morning. I wake up tired and go to bed exhausted - anyone else feel the same?

I think I'm a bit run down too as I've got the mother of all cold sores and a stye in my eye too which are both very painful. My hayfever is driving me insane and I feel sick on and off all day long but apart from all that I'm positively glowing....not!

I refuse to complain though, I've waited so long for this to happen and to be honest, I never actually expected to get this far! It still hasn't sunk in really, and I alternate between a state of euphoria and blind panic that something will go wrong.

Having said that, I've had hardly any spotting since my scan on Wednesday so hopefully I'm past the worst :):)

I'm off shopping now - I'm taking the kids out to get pressies for their dad and Matt for Father's Day :)

Hope you are all well, enjoy the weekend :)

Loubie xx
