diddle, you've gone quiet - any news?

trinity1 · 11/06/2006 14:42

Hi everyone - hope the nice weather isn't making you all too uncomfortable.

Lilacbump - congratulations! :) am so pleased for you. He's so gorgeous.

Well done also blobsmummy & bubbly on your new arrivals.

Am now 40 + 3 and just want this baby out now! Had a show on Friday night and hoped that things would be moving along nicely by now but not yet. Woke up this morning with back pain but that's also subsided a bit too. Am having a second sweep on Wednesday, but hoping she has arrived by then. DP and I are nesting like mad! Trying to enjoy the sunshine too. Have had walks on the beach and everything to try and get her to shift but think she's wedged in there! Will keep you all posted.

Good luck everyone. :o xxx

666mummy · 11/06/2006 14:57

from what iv read i dont think those membrane sweeps work :(.......i just feel rough now backache and stuff....no contractrions.

Laura032004 · 11/06/2006 16:33

Congratulations LilacBump on the safe arrival of Ethan :) Glad to hear that it all went well. What a fantastic size! Bet you'll win the biggest in June contest. How big was your dd?

666mummy - 3cm sounds really promising. Hope today's sweep will do the trick. Backache could be early labour.

Well, hope everyone else is feeling OK. We've gone from hot to humid here, which is horrible. Feeling very period painy now - I don't expect it's anything at all, except the baby moving down. I reckon I've still got another few weeks of this yet!

nothings happening and the weather for me is unbearable............

Mitchell81 · 11/06/2006 19:29

Congratulations Lilacbump and welcome Ethan, Glad to hear you are home and well.

Hippygirl · 11/06/2006 20:38

Hello
Just found this website and sooo grateful I am not the only one feeling hot and bothered! :)
I'm due on Tuesday 13th but had a false labour on Saturday caused by a virus. Feel such a fool now!
Wishing everyone lots of good thoughts - especially those who are already late!

Blimey! I check the thread about 3 times a day normally, and then I go and leave it for 24 hours and it all happens!!

Congratulations Lilac! We've all been wondering about you. Lovely photos, he is gorgeous, and I am VERY impressed that you had such a big baby naturally. Wow.

Congratulations blobsmummy: sorry you've had a hard time of it, and hope you feel better soon.

Have we heard from bubbly, or or are we just assuming from her " am I in labour" thread?

666mummy; surely you'll have your baby soon. Good luck!

Welcome, hippygirl, to our moany thread!

Thanks for starting the post-natal thread waswondering: I hope to join you on it soon but no signs yet. I'm 40+6, and having a sweep tomorrow. I'm not minding the hot weather too much: it's so beautiful, but I have got hot feet! I just feel so powerless that you have no idea when it's going to happen. I feel like there must be something I could do, if only I knew what it was. Or something I've done or haven't done is stopping it. Also, the longer it goes on, the less real it seems, so I feel like I'm never really going to have this baby, and things will just go on like this forever.

Pomsmum, vbab, trinty and theHun; it's our turn next surely!

Baby2, hope you're feeling better soon.

AdelaideS · 11/06/2006 21:43

Hello and welcome hippygirl.
Take heart 666 and others who are overdue, tonight is a full moon and thundery in some places, both of which bring on labour (well, so my midwife says, and ds was born in a thunderstorm).

Flum · 11/06/2006 21:44

Hi I'm still here and still waiting but haven't been on for ages.

Age; 33
DH 35
This is 2nd child 1st was emergency c-section due to undiagnosed breech and baby in distress after v. short 3 hour labour.
due date 11/06/06
no sign yet/
hoping for vbac, in hospital

Laura032004 - a question - how cool are they you having a home waterbirth after as a Vbac. My hospital say they don't want me to use the pool as they want to monitor baby all the time due to risk of scar rupture. My first child is 2.4 though!!

Rachelpross - You're waters could have broken but be leaking slowly if baby is breech - this is quite common in breech babies and happened to me. I didn't know baby was breech until I was through first stage of labour though and fully dilated. Get midwife to have a good check for position of baby or perhaps get hospital to do a hand held scan.

Sweeps??? Do they work - you all seem to be having them to no avail. I for one can't bearto be mucked about with down below unless absolutely vital so will wait for my apple pie to declare itself cooked. Last one was 14 days so in no rush.

Loving the sunshine and hot weather spending alldays looking huge in bikini in paddling pool or hammock.,

Welcome to Hippygirl

Thanks for starting the p/n thread Waswondering - hope we're all there with you soon!

Flum - they're being fine about me having a homebirth, and that said, doing it in water makes no difference at all to them really. They can't use CEFM at home, so they can use the doppler to check the baby the same in water as they could if I was on dry land. Do you desperately want a waterbirth? If you want to push for it, you could threaten a home birth - they seem to come round to anything you'd like to try in hospital quite easily after that Wink Are you on the yahoo vbac group? They might seem a bit extreme some of the time if you're planning a hosp birth (they're mainly v.keen on home birth), but you will get some good tips for achieving a VBAC in hospital. I can link to it if you'd like? :)

Hello Ladies. It is first thing Monday morning and I cannot sleep due to the heat! Currently running myself a cold bath in another attempt at cooling down. Angry Sad

I have only just realised, DOH, that I have for the last two days on and off been having a nasty pain that builds up and goes in the bottom of my back, sometimes works it way to the front and repeats. Is this the beginning of labour, what is called labour pains?

It just that it feels different to any pain I have had before and the way it builds up and goes is what I imagine labour pains would be. However what makes me doubt it is that the pains are very irregular, from pains to nothing, few in quick succession and with a minute or so gap. ???

Laura032004 · 12/06/2006 08:58

Morning ladies! Nothing to report here :)

Vbab78 - sounds interesting. Do you know which way the baby is facing? Apparently if they are back to back with you then you are more likely to feel labour pains (esp early ones) in your back. If your placenta is anterior (front), then the baby is more likely to be back to back as they like to face the placenta. Hope I've got that right!! It won't be labour until the pains don't stop with a bath or resting, but it could be early labour or what they call the latent phase where you can be dilating without any particular pain. Have you had any other signs? (sorry can't remember all the posts!)

Laura - All I know is baby is head down, back down my right hand side and legs on my left, that's it. I've had no other signs. For the last day or so I've been going to the toilet more and more often than not it hurts when I finish. Don't think it is anything labour related though Sad.

On a good note I suppose if nothing happens ... I'm going for my one and only sweep tomorrow morning because I will be due date +7 so hopefully I will have a better clue about what is going on down there.

vbab78 · 12/06/2006 09:41

morethan1 - good luck Smile

Mitchell81 · 12/06/2006 10:16

Morethan1- good Luck, hope all goes well

surroundedbyboys · 12/06/2006 10:18

hi all

thanks laura for the list - very good of you.

good luck morethan1 - looking forward to your birth announcement soon. hope it all goes well.

vbab - sounds like things might be getting ready. wierd you mention the pain after going to the loo - i am having this too and don't remember it with other children. i was a bit worried it was a sign of the bladder not emptying properly - what do you think? in fact might start a thread on it?

if it is any consolation i was also up for much of last night - too hot to sleep. slept in the spare room in the nud!

section booked for thursday - feeling very mixed emotions although much more relaxed since your reassuring thread waswondering. thank youl.

congratulations and welcome to new babies!

mrsbabookaloo · 12/06/2006 10:54

hello all, just a quick one to say things are happening: woke up with pains at 1:40am, and am having them every 7 minutes. Trying to just manage at home and put off going to hospital too early....

Hope all you other overdue ones get some action soon. I'll let you know...

emkana · 12/06/2006 11:28

Good luck to all of you who are going to have your babys any time soon!

I've been booked in due be induced next Monday now, still hoping that things will get going on their own before then.

diddle · 12/06/2006 12:14

lilacbump, blobsmummy and bubbly - huge congrats on your births, hope you are recovering well, and getting plenty of rest.
lilac - he's gorgeous, makes me all broody seeing those pics, and i haven't got long to wait to see my own little bundle. Glad you're on the mend and settling in at home, we were getting very concerned about you.

Morethan1 - good luck for tonight, fingers crossed all goes well for you Grin how exciting.

Vbab - sounds promising, my mom only had pains in the back with me, nothing at the front, all labours are different. I'd definityl keep an eye on it. Would be great if you'd got to 8 cm or something fab like that without even knowing it.

good luck mrsbabookaloo - hope you're doing ok, and all goes well for you. finally the long wait it over for you.

well not a thing happening here, have been having the odd sharp pain down below, like someone is stabbing me, its normally as baby is moving and when i mentioned it to the midwife she said it could be baby moving down more, or just be because it is engaged.
My sweep obviously hasn't done anything. I am now 40+4 today, and feeling very hot and fed up. i don't think baby is going to come naturally though and i'm counting the days now until induction, onyl 8 days to go.

Laura032004 · 12/06/2006 12:24

mrsbabookaloo - you've probably gone in by now, but in case you haven't, hope you have a quick and easy birth :)

morethan1 - I hope that your induction goes well :) Remember lots of snacks, drinks and magazines in case you're in for a few days.

vbab78 - might be worth mentioning to the MW that you've got pain when going to the loo - it might be a kidney infection.

surroundedbyboys - I hope your c/s goes well on Thursday. Remember to take your own pillows (esp a bf one if you planning to bf). I found bendy straws a godsend too when sitting up was still difficult.
