Congrats ladyschaefer.

Well ladies I am due date + 7 and I went for my sweep this morning and even though it wasn't pleasant at first, after the midwife had gone so far Blush it was ok.

diddle you may be right about those pains I have been having in my back because I am apparently 1 and a half cms dilated and about 1 and a half cms thinned! The midwife reckons that's what my pains have been. Everything else is fine.

YES! Everyone is doing my head in asking too like I wouldn't let them know.

She said if anything was to happen it wouldn't happen for a couple of days. If nothing happens then I am booked for induction on Monday 4pm.

Shall we have a list of planned induction dates as well?

congratulations Ladyschaefer and baby kaleb.I was hoping i would be quick this time but i hope i have longer than that to get ds sorted out and off to a friend or family.
Still no sign of anything happening here yet. Seeing a midwife tomorrow, (40+2)

AdelaideS · 13/06/2006 21:11

Waswondering that's a good point about the carpet, I remember with ds the midwife arrived just in time and told me to lie on my side on the floor, she then instructed dp to bring all the sofa cushions to make me comfortable. I just kept thinking, whilst pushing and grunting (sorry, TMI)..."Noooo...that's a new f***g sofa" and they kept saying in maddeningly soothing voices "...don't worry about the sofa.." but i was, i really was.
So Ladyschaefer...how, indeed, is your carpet?

No, not shallow, it was deeply important to me at the time. Funny how these mundane thoughts creep in when you're in labour...or is it only me?

KathrynWales · 13/06/2006 23:04

OOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhh!!!!

Looks like D Day may be here..... Shock

Had what felt like a trickle of something this morning... went to MW appt, who sent me in to day unit for check up. Doctor did a speculum/swab examination...and then told me my waters had gone/leaked. Have to go in tomorrow (Wed) morning to be induced......... Shock

No idea how long it will take. Said my cervix was thin but not dilated, so could be a while????
(was induced with DD and whole thing took only 7 hrs but was 15 days late then so being a week early this time, I may still be pushing next week at this rate!!) Grin

Anyways...can't sleep...all of a dither.... will be in touch soon.

Kath x

ChaCha · 13/06/2006 23:06

Hey Diddle,

Thinking of you. Looking fwd to good news x

Laura032004 · 14/06/2006 07:13

KathrynWales - I hope things have kicked off for you by now, but if not, good luck with the induction. You could be holding your baby by tonight if you were quick with DD. :) :)

vbab78 - that all sounds promising. Hope you've not got long to go!

BABY2 - hope everything goes OK at the MW today.

I had my 38w MW appt yesterday. It was a different MW to normal, as they're all (5 in total on our CMW team) going to try and meet me before the baby is born as I'm planning a HB. She was really nice, but apparently there's only one not so good one, so fingers crossed I won't get her on the day. I really like my usual MW, but she's away from the 1-7 July, and since I'm due on the 28th June, I think it's fairly likely that I won't get her for the birth (ds was quite late though, so maybe I'll be after the 7th!).

Still feeling well though. Baby not engaged - 2nd timers - were your baby's engaged at 38w? I know it's quite normal for them not to engage until labour, but I wouldn't mind if it did!!

Good Luck Kathryn, Hope your baby arrives soon.

Mitchell81 · 14/06/2006 08:44

Good Luck surroundedbyboys for your C/S tomorrow, hope all goes well and that your recovery is quick. Where in SA are you from? I am from Cape Town, been in Scotland for 6 years.

Flum · 14/06/2006 10:15

Ho hum. How do you know if baby is engaged then? This is my second and am 3 days overdue. Nothing feels imminent but am too chicken to have a sweep or induction so will just be waiting, waiting....

Laura am due the same day as you, second baby, and she is engaged already but apparently second babies may not engage till actual labour! i have had a few false alarms already with 3 hours of contractions yesterday morning that just vanished! ARGH!!! i was just starting to get hopeful then bang, nothing. and nothing today. :) xx

surroundedbyboys · 14/06/2006 18:25

vbab78 · 15/06/2006 04:45

Congrats bubbly1973 so happy for you Grin but also soooo jealous Envy.

Update ... now 41+2. Had 1 and only sweep Tuesday, induction next Mon if nothing, the few days leading up to that I had weird lower back pain which I found out was probably me dilating to 1+half cm and thinning. Excellent I thought ... however since the sweep on Tuesday the pains stopped Shock and baby has been more mobile than ever. BUM. But last (Wed) night they started again. GREAT. So I went to bed with the back pain the worst it has been thinking this is it and in the morning I will wake ready for birth or at least still in pain. NOT THE CASE I have woken up with not a twinge in sight and I know it is sad but since I found out at my sweep that the pain has probably been dilation I've had this mentality of "fetch it on". Sad

hi all!

surroundedby boys good luck! so jealous!

woke up this morning for the second time to find myself simming in breast milk! yuck! boobs have grown literally overnight, so have convinced myself it means i should hae a baby very soon! okay well maybe its wishful thinking but i just want to get this birth thing over and done with and then gt to know my new baby! hurry hurry hurry! DH has asked me to hold on til fathers day! :) xx

Laura032004 · 15/06/2006 08:06

Congratulations bubbly1973. Really glad to hear that you had a nice birth and that bf is going well :)

Flum - I only know that the baby isn't engaged from the palpation the MW did at my last A/N appt. It does feel like something is changing down there, so maybe the baby is bobbing in and out?

happybebe - Well, being engaged can only be a good thing :) Hope those contractions are doing some of the early work for you!

surroundedbyboys - Thinking of you today. Hope it all goes well.

666mummy - Hmmm, no postings for a few days. Hope this means your baby has made an appearance!

AdelaideS - selfishly glad to hear nothing is happening for you as well! Hopefully we can keep each other company until the end! Or both pop nice and early!!!

vbab78 - I know exactly how you feel :( I had a sweep with ds on the Tuesday and was told I was 3cm dilated. I was already having contractions, so fully expected the baby to appear any second. It was Saturday before I actually got to meet him! Really try and get all the rest you can over these next few days. It is going to happen very soon, and you want to be well rested when proper labour starts, not tired out from trying to get it started. You'll be holding that baby before you know it!

OP posts:
Laura032004 · 15/06/2006 08:10

happybebe - x-posted with you! Well that's an exciting development - hope it means that the baby is kickstarting everything! It would be lovely to have some Fathers Day babies though wouldn't it!

BTW - to anybody thinking about bf, but not leaking milk or anything, just to let you know that I'm not either. I fed DS to 22 months though (stopped at 22w pg) with no real problems, so don't think that if you're not leaking milk that it might mean that anything is wrong. :)

OP posts:
vbab78 · 15/06/2006 08:55

Laura - Thanks for the kind words. Hope the same happens to me as with your DS. Really would love baby to be here for fathers day and more importantly I don't like the idea of being induced or spending longer in hospital.

PomsMum · 15/06/2006 10:36

Overdue Club Members - 41 weeks today, feel that I may have some elephant genes in the family somewhere hence gestation period approaching similar lengths. Just back from the daily walk of the dog up to the highest point in Hampshire - why am I wasting my time?!

Scheduled for second sweep tomorrow am, trying to contact reflexologists today and contemplating knocking back the caulophyllum, or maybe I'll just sit on the sofa and tuck into the chocolate....

I feel that this one is having an unfair start in life if I constantly poke it and shout 'get out get out get out NOW'

And the harshest thing for the overdue babe - coming out looking all wrinkled, wind blown and with chapped skin - that's not the baby photo you want to show your friends is it?
